Review from Chris S.
Gave them a call to get an estimate to replace three toilets in our townhouse. I spoke with Warren, the owner, and we were able to negotiate a very fair and good price. It was probably about the same price as Home Depot was charging, but Warren and his guys gave top notch service. To this day with all the in-home repairs we've received, no one has ever provided the same level of service.
To start off, Greg was sent to install the toilets. He was running just a few minutes late, so we received a call from their office to give us a heads up. When he arrived, he noticed he was stepping into an Asian household so without hesitation, removed his shoes out of consideration! Fast forwarding into the installation. I asked him if I could take a look at his work since I had considered doing the install myself. No problem! He was even happy to show me step by step and some of the parts that he recommended to use! Boy, was I happy we hired a professional to do the work because I probably would've caused all sorts of plumbing problems had I done the installation!
The full install took about a day and a half because Greg couldn't carry two of the toilets by himself from our upstairs bathrooms without an additional hand. However, it wasn't too much of a hassle because he really tried to work around our schedule since he didn't anticipate on the first day that he'd be unable to handle the entire job by himself.
I would definitely recommend "My Plumbing Doctor" to anyone having any sort of plumbing problem. The level of service they provide is unmatchable and the prices are very fair. If you can, ask for Greg. He's a really cool guy with great skills. -

I called these guys because my garbage disposal was backed up. They called back within 10 minutes and said they could come over but told me to try to plunge the disposal with a good plunger (the one's with the rubber sticking out). And you know what, it worked! Can you imagine a plumber helping you fix something so you can save some coin? Well, that's what these guys did. I'm quite impressed.
Clearly if I ever need a plumber in the future I know who I'm going to call. -

Short review - Amazing, call them right now.
Long review - Most of the reviews I read about My Plumbing Doctor on here dealt with vaguely minor issues. That scared me a bit at first as we were looking for a plumber for what we consider a fairly big job. But, with the reviews and our need to get as many bids as we could, My Plumbing Doctor was added to the list.
Yeah, that list got real short, real fast.
I'll spare you what happened with the other guys and just focus on these guys.
First of all, they came out to bid the same day we called. They even showed up at the time they promised. Then, they delivered the final bid in the time they promised.
Don't worry, the honeymoon isn't over yet. As for the work itself, they showed up when they told us they would and stuck to their schedule as far as the days that they did and did not need access to the house. (This is key to us as we have dogs and we have to do some major life-shifting of our own to keep the dogs safe while people come & go in the house.)
If you're looking for some sort of negative, I will say, the actual work took longer than they estimated. However, I rate this as positive as they were completely honest and kept us informed of the process every step of the way. And some of the delays were not their fault as the neighborhood kept losing power and obviously they can't work if they can't see or use their tools.
I adore this company as a whole but need to point out that James was our project manager/lead guy on the team and was absolutely fabulous. I can tell you we won't call anyone except these guys from now on. And as far as I'm concerned, my friends aren't allowed to call anyone else either. Seriously. -

Mixed review - good work but bizarre billing practices. I got a quote over the phone - $875 for a new water heater, which was a good price. They arrived on time and did the work so that was fine. I got an invoice and was billed for $850 so I thought they'd decided to charge less than the original bid, but then the next day my credit card was randomly charged $25. When I called Warren he said the original bid was for $875 so that's what they were charging even though he'd given me an invoice for $850. So that's strange. I'd think twice before calling them again or recommending them to somebody else.

We had a plumbing emergency on a Sunday evening. What's worse is we had guests staying with us for a few days, so it was really important we got the issue fixed in a hurry. I did a little research on Yelp and decided to give My Plumbing Doctor a try. They showed up within an hour (just as they said they would), and got the job done. It was probably more expensive since they came out on a Sunday evening (I didn't feel it was unreasonable), but I was really happy they were able to fix the problem and fast.

Came home to a plugged sewer line the other night. Called My Plumbing Doctor the next morning, and had a guy named Eddie over by 10am. He quickly found the problem had things working in short order. He even put up with my newbie plumbing questions. This is the second time that I have used their service, and continue to be very happy.

Can't give Eddie a high enough rating!!!!!
First time user. Looked at Yelp for help for a backed up sewer line which flooded my bathroom floor, toilet, and tub. Okay... so I was suppose to clean it out every year and it was overdue by 6 months...
Eddie came and he patiently answered every question that I had. I felt very well informed about what was going on. It turned out that the machine didn't fit through the gate opening and it would of cost double if another plumber came to help. Eddie problem solved this by going into the neighbor's yard (with permission of course) and put the line through the fence!!!!! I loved the really high level of service and thoughtfulness!!!! (esp. to my budget!!!!) The whole thing only cost $89 (also what was quoted on the phone) as opposed to double if there was another plumber helping.
Definitely will be calling again if I have any other plumbing problems!!!
Thank you again Eddie!!! -

When I called My Plumbing Doctor to look up records on work that was done 6 months ago, Susan the bookkeeper took my call and quickly pulled up all of the billing information. She was so pleasant and professional, I started to remember why I had chosen these guys in the first place. I asked Warren to come out again and recheck a pipe (which he did this time as a courtesy!), I met Susan. Turns out she is Warren's girlfriend. She was seated beside him and insisted on stepping out of the truck before shaking hands. My Plumbing Doctor is really professional, thorough, and classy. Honestly, the other guys don't stand a chance.
Now more about Warren . . . he was extremely patient in explaining everything and answering my wife's numerous questions, even though the sun was beating down on us and it was getting hot. We both felt very comfortable and well-informed about our plumbing problems and what it would take to fix it. I cannot stress how refreshing it was to have someone come out and not make you feel rushed, bamboozled, or kept in the dark. -

Called My Plumbing Doctor to have them unplug an exceptionally clogged and disgusting drain in the back of our store near the 3rd street Promenade.
Josh showed up in 30minutes and had the drain unclogged and the entire area cleaned up in 45 minutes! Hands down, the most professional, fair priced, quick, efficient, (and not to mention handsome) plumber I've ever encountered!
So grateful to have professional, family owned business around that we can count on! -

Not even sure I need to write this review... I agree with most of the reviews here but I believe these guys deserve all the positive feedback in the world.
My Plumbing Doctor provides EXCELLENT, trustworthy, friendly, professional plumbing services at a very good price AND they are a family run, local business.
My kitchen sink was backing up into the bath tub - Problem discovered at 12:30 AM... tried to sleep, woke up and called My Plumbing Doctor at 7:30 AM... Owner's son arrived at 8:05 AM, explained what he was going to do, cleaned the drain, solved the problem, cleaned up after himself, was in and out in 35 minutes, I paid what I was quoted on the phone $75.
No hassles.
No scams.
No Lies.
Just great, honest, fast, affordable service... all of which is VERY hard to find these days.
Thanks guys, I will definitely call you the next time I need a plumber... without hesitation. -
Review from Steve V.
Can't really give a plumber 5 stars since it sucks to have to have them come at all, but these guys are just about there. Their estimate was free and significantly below the competitors.
The specific plumber, Greg, was amazing. He took such care to do things right and respect our home, and also cleaned up after himself well. He asked for permission to do the slightest thing.
The minus 2 stars is for the office. I had called twice to set up and confirm my appointment and Holli said "someone" removed it from the board. Luckily, they were able to fit me in later that day and Greg stayed extra late. -

Follow up to my previous review. Warren did finally call me and left me a vm on Monday morning about how he failed to let the dispatcher know and he forgot about the appointment. He did explain that it was a family emergency. He offered discounts and seemed very sorry. Maybe I just had a bad break but that bad break had me shut off water in complex for no reason and take off work. Even with this follow up call I am going with another plumber that charges more but at least he showed up that Friday in less than an hour to see what he could do, but he said he couldn't do the job by the time the water needed to be turned on again. Will have his review when the job is completed.
To be fair - my gut feeling is this place is probably good but I have to rate what happened to me. A no show and no follow up call until Monday morning. Yelp is no good with false ratings.1 Previous Review: Show all »

Highly recommanded! Super professional, nice customer service, and very honest.
We had them over to check our floor furnace. James is the guy they send out. He's very professional, good at what he does, and came 10 mins before the appt time. He went above and beyond to help us with our problems. We'll never go with anyone else but him. -

If I were a homeowner I'd be putting these guys on speed-dial.
I had a stopped-up sink, no emergency, so I scheduled an appointment.
Whoever answered the phone was polite, helpful and gave me an accurate quote for the intended service (drain snaking = $75).
In my experience, the two-hour appointment window is a rarity, so that was a pleasant surprise. Another pleasant surprise was how prompt Eddie was the morning of the appointment - he was so on-time that I was still in my pj's.
He was friendly, got the job done quickly, charged me what I expected, dispensed some friendly advice about the short-term, and for the long-term suggested (without any dire warnings or hard sells) that the building's older pipes might need to be looked at. -

James is awesome! He is hardworking, honest, and hilarious!
I inherited the nastiest toilet from a previous renter. And even after steam cleaning it in a hazmat suit, I used it once and of course, it clogged. And I swear it wasn't my fault!!
Called MPD. 30 minutes later James shows up and works some magic. I have been clog free 4 months now! -

Finally, the nightmare is over. Been having the same backup problem for the last 2 months in my two unit duplex (toilet doesn't flush properly, shit comes up from tub, etc), and finally, Eddie fixed it.
Luckily, my contractor was around too, so it sped up the process, but Eddie did a thorough job on getting through everything, process of elimination, and found the "root" problem. llululululuz I'm funny.
$178 for two hours (there from 2-3:30p) for peace of mind that I can shower and shit? Totally worth it.
edit:
oh yeah, found them via referral through my finacee's coworker, and then I looked it up on Yelp and saw my good friend Wilbur also used them! Good stuff. -

I had two issues. A leaking faucet and a leaking shower head. Making an appointment was easy, they showed up on time. Two guys showed up, looked at both, said I needed to order parts and there was nothing they could do, so asked if there was anything else they could do since I was already on the hook for the $70 service charge. They tightened and aligned one of my sink handles. So $70 later, I had an aligned sink handle and two leaky faucets. They were going to order parts and make an appointment to come back and install. They never called back. I followed up with the company and these two guys left the company. So they sent someone else and he came by, took a look at my leaking faucet and replaced the o-ring and it was great! The shower head needed a new part so he said he'd order and come back when it came in. I asked for credit on the first job and the company gave that to me which was very fair. To end the story, i never got a call back on the shower. I ended up just using someone else to repair it.
Long story short, if for specialty items (i guess my fixtures are high end) these guys are probably not the right guys. That being said, I give them three stars for being upstanding citizens and being fair for not charging me for the first trip where the guys got nothing done. -

I am updating my review, because I feel like I owe Warren and his team an apology. When I wrote the original review, I was really upset (obviously). I wanted what I wanted when I wanted it. What I neglected to give My Plumbing Doctor credit for was their kindness. The plumbers who fixed the tub were extremely nice. Nice enough that I felt safe leaving them in our home while I was gone. The owner was also nice when he called the following morning. He apologized, and made an appointment to fix the tub that day. Now the tub drains fine, but the lever to close and open the drain gets stuck. I'm sure if I asked they would come out and adjust it for us. Next time I sit down to write a review, I will take a long deep breath and remind my ego to chill.

I called My Plumbing doctor based on the Yelp reviews to investigate the sewage smell that was coming from below our house. James was sent out, had a look, and declared that despite this "25 years of plumbing," he had no idea what was going on. While he was here, we had to suffer his repeated referrals to "beaners" and "faggots." After he left, I called to speak to Warren, the owner, and he said that unless there were undetectable microcracks in a pipe, he couldn't explain the foul smell either. The situation worsened, and soon the ground under the house was soaked; soon after, it became a lake.
Last night, Saturday, (at week-end and nighttime rates) Gilbert's Plumbing came out and with much testing, determined that the problem lay with the main sewer pipe. They sent a camera down and found multiple root-choked breaks. Currently, they are digging it up with plans to replace it. Why couldn't My Plumbing Doctor figure that out? Maybe they're good for minor repairs, toilets overflowing, the drain from the toilet backed up. But don't call them for anything more.
Meanwhile, kudos to Gilbert Plumbing on Hawthorne!
P.S. After Warren saw this review, he called to apologize and offered to reimburse the $75. that I had paid for the visit. James brought the check over, and was very contrite. While this action doesn't change my overall review, it's worth saying that Warren cares about his reputation and took appropriate steps to alleviate the situation. jaf -

Ordered a plumbing inspection through My Plumbing Doctor for a house we were in escrow on.
My Plumbing Doctor was recommended highly by yelpers which was good enough for me. Warren arrived promptly at the scheduled time. He was very thorough and comprehensive. Unfortunately, only a couple nitpicky things that keep this from being a 5 star review. The report he provided was more of an invoice with estimates. It was detailed enough to decipher, but lacked the pics and panache of the other inspectors reports. Also, he was slightly rushed in explaining it to us. The report was provided very promptly, a day later.
A positive experience, I would recommend. -

We initially had a plumbing problem and we called Newton Plumbing because it was close to our house. Big mistake! They "temporarily" fixed the problem and quoted us for additional service.
A few days later, same problem occurred at our house. I called Plumbing Doctor and Warren immediately came over and fixed the problem for a much more competitive price. He also made additional inspections around the house to make sure that the same issue doesn't happen again. James was great as well.
Their staff was professional. Very courteous.
I highly recommend them! -

Made an appointment with Dawn 4 days in advance to install a new kitchen sink. Seemed pretty straightforward, they said between 10 and 12. I stayed home and waited until 1135am, when Dawn called me and said they were stuck on a previous job and asked me to reschedule. I thought it was odd-- what would the point be of rescheduling if the original schedule could be cancelled at a moment's notice? I offered to wait it out and see if they would finish and be able to come, knowing my job was 1-2 hours at most. I called again at 2 and offered for them to come in the evening or on the weekend. Dawn said that she was waiting to hear back from her guys and would let me know. That was the last thing I heard. So, yeah, that's a one star job, guys.

Just another encomium for this business, and for James in particular. 6 pm, on the day before I was to leave for NY, there is water dripping onto my dining room table. Panicked, I check Yelp reviews and find My Plumbing Doctor. So nice on the phone, and within an hour James arrived, and within another half hour, problem solved. Not expensive, either. Could not have been better.

They fixing the stoppage and were gone so quickly that I almost felt ripped off! ;) looks like I found our new plumber

This is a legit operation. After suffering through the horridly unprofessional con artistry of "Pete the Plumber", I called these new cats - The Plumbing Doctor with some understandable hesitancy.
In truth, they were coming out to FIX what Pete had broken (they broke the toilet they were there to fix, causing thousands of $ of water damage to my bathroom).
Back to the story at hand - James rolled out. Dude was quirky and cool and dominated my toilet. Errr that sounded bad. But he did dominate it.
To put a cherry on it, he was kind enough to charge me the incorrectly low quoted price over the phone (based on the distance my home is from their office, so please be sure to ask this when getting a price).
I like a company that does what they say there are going to do and does it for the price they originally quoted. I like a company that dominates.

Josh and Eddie arrived today at my house as promised. The house flooded last night and believe me, the dogs were in heaven and we weren't. Both Josh and Eddie were extremely professional and thorough. They fixed my problem, gave me expert advice on how to resolve this recurring plumbing problem and charged me a fair price. These guys are as good as it gets. I will recommend My Plumbing Doctor and Josh and Eddie to all my friends and coworkers for any plumbing issues.

Who hasn't been screwed by a plumber? I have, and maybe I was again.
I loved the first visit from this company. They were prompt and courteous, but I have been having trouble with the faucet they installed. They came back to tighten it, but it still squeeks...I'm a bit disappointed. Maybe they used a cheap piece of hardware they needed to unload...
I'm reluctant to contact them again, but if they read this, please contact me at grathy@aol.com if you want to keep me as a happy customer... -

After freaking out because my relatives over exaggerate everything and said it would cost me thousands of dollars to fix, I went to Yelp to find the best of the best. 118 5 star ratings, clearly says something. I wrote an email at 12am about my toilet gurgling, and emptying...They wrote me back a couple of hours later telling me to call in the morning. I called and they all greeted me as the girl who emailed them last night, which I loved. 2 hours and $99 dollars later everything was fixed. Eddie was quick, and nice...and I am very happy!

UPDATE
Below problem was resolved when the tech, James?, finally showed up on the day after Christmas, on time. He did his thing and the price was not too bad.
__________________________________________________ __
Based on the Yelp reviews, we called this company expecting the best.
Now, I know it's Christmas Eve, but when we called this morning, we were handled graciously and given an appointment from 2-4pm for their tech to come over and clear our toilet and drains. So far, so good.
After waiting around for the call that he was on his way, we finally get a call @ 4:45pm from a very apologetic woman saying that she's sorry, but they overbooked and would not be coming. Wow! Not exactly what I expected from all the glowing reviews. The woman then offered to schedule someone to come over on Xmas Day, but at double the normal charge. We eventually settled on the day after Christmas before we head to the airport for a trip.
I'm hoping the tech shows up on time and that the work will be all that I expected before my experience today. If so, I'll gladly revise My Plumbing Doctor's star rating upward. But until then, we'll be celebrating Christmas with backed up plumbing. -

I found an algae bloom seeping from under my hot water heater in the walkway behind the master bedroom. I was afraid, very afraid, because we have endless uses for hot water, and I was about to be in hot water myself if we didn't have any. Hot. Water.
I discovered this situation while preparing for my daughter's birthday party which happened last Saturday. Since we were getting hot water and the burner was still lit and blazing away I figured it wasn't an immediate disaster... but a sense of impending doom caused me to furtively hit the computer and type "water heater" into Yelp.
Now, I must comment on my use of Yelp over all other sources. There was the Yellow Pages. Nah. How can you tell who is who and what is what? There was Google. Just now did a Google search: Results 1 - 10 of about 65,400 for water heater 90405. Whoopsie! I mean, really! Who can you trust? I trust Yelp!
So there was my daughter enjoying her party, and there was her Dad in his office searching Yelp for help. After typing in the search and adjusting for best reviewed I came up with My Plumbing Doctor. I uploaded the number to my iPhone and joined the party, resting easy that so many Yelpers were on the case and highly recommended this service.
And the reviews were right! Monday I called and Tuesday we had a consultation with Warren on tankless vs tank water heaters. We wanted to solve a problem where it takes a lot of cold water to get to hot water. We also want to be able to take three showers and run the dishwasher at just about the same time each morning, something we were not able to do.
Warren is not a flim-flam artist and I can tell because he said that because of the location of the heater we would have the same problem with tankless anyway and that a new tank heater would put out plenty of hot water to solve our volume problem. Tank = $1K, tankless = $3.5K. There's a tax credit and a rebate, but after you put the numbers together it'd take 10 years to recover the added cost of tankless. We opted for tank, and have to thank Warren for helping us decide in a neutral way. He wasn't trying to force the bigger sale.
On Wednesday Warren came out and installed a new Rheem water heater. Now we have plenty of hot water for three showers and a dishwasher load. We still have the latency problem, but we'd have that with either system. We've been collecting the cold water run-out for our plants. Maybe we need a gray-water system? And then there's the lack of an auto-shutoff for the gas main. Warren is going to do the auto-shutoff next month. Finally we have a plumber we can trust, and all because of Yelp! -

Honest, professional and helpful plumbers! My mom reported to me that the guest house bathtub drain was clogged so I found these guys on Yelp. They came and immediately found that the bathtub wasn't clogged but the trip lever was up. Ugh...mother!
However, this bathtub drain has had drain problems in the past, so they checked to see that everything was in good working condition. They roto rooted the drain and tightened the faucet handles that were leaking water. They also turned on the hot water heater AND even the wall heater in the living room. They're plumbers yes but they went the extra mile and I appreciated it. :)
Because they were late, they only charged me $40 to come out. Much more affordable and friendly than Roto Rooter. I got a very reliable vibe from them. I will definitely be using them again in the future! -

I had a clogged kitchen sink that no amount of Drano would be able to solve. So I yelped for plumbers and Plumbing Dr. came up with great reviews.
I called at 11:30 that morning and the lady on the other end was very friendly and said that they'd be there around noon. Half an hour! What great turnaround time!
I'm assuming the gentleman that came was Warren, but he just introduced himself as "the plumber". He came in, did his work, and left within about 20 minutes. Super fast, efficient and no BS.
And $75 for a service call is very reasonable as well. Will definitely call him up again if we have another problem! -

Thursday the kitchen sink flooded. I called the Plumbing Doctor a little too early friday morning.. at 7:30 and they were able to squeeze me in. Warren and his guy showed up at 9:30 and the work was complete by 10:30. They were very professional and I couldn't find anything wrong to fault them on. They showed up and got to work right away like a doctor in the emergency room!
While they were working, I asked Warren if he knew people were talking about him on Yelp. I asked why there were no pictures of him so he says for the last seven years he's never able to take a good picture. Since he seemed like such a nice guy, I told him I'll help take pictures to post on yelp to help them. Although when I was talking to the other guy, he told me that they've been getting pretty busy lately.
Good people, good prices, and they didn't make a big mess like other plumber's I've had. They'd even cleaned up after themselves. As good as it gets.
Also, they take credits cards. Big plus!
