I got my glasses and eye appointment from them a year ago. I did not go to them when I needed to get my annual eye exam but they still have been helpful.

For example, my glasses broke and needed to be replaced. This happened friday and I would be leaving the country on tuesday. I needed to get new glasses (and lens because if you get new glasses, you have to get new frames to fit). I went to the place where I had my recent eye exam and they were unable to get me new glasses in time. They claimed they could have it sent to me but it would cost me. I decided to try My Eye Dr. and see if they had my old frames. When I got there, they told me they would have to order those frames. I explained my situation and they said they could get me a new pair of glasses and lenses by Monday morning as long as I had my prescription. I didn't havethe prescription on me so they made a deal with me. I chose the frames I wanted and I could fax them my prescription.

I didn't have a lot of money to spend and they were able to work with me on that. They gave me a $240 glasses frame for $120 and a 30% discount on my new lenses. The total cost was $220 compared to the possible price of $496.

They were very helpful, friendly and convenient.

I've never been to other eye doctors so I can't compare. I can only speak for my experiences here. I've been to My Eye Dr. for 2 years. Why? Just because it's the closest one to my work (in walking distance) and covered by my insurance (VSP). In my opinion, Dr. Frederick Siegel is nice but the staffs are horrible even if the staffs have been changed during the period.

I agree with some suggestions from prior reviewers and would like to offer advices to anyone who's going - Don't go in with an empty head. Be prepared before step into the office: Print out, READ and bring the hardcopies of your insurance coverage there. If you wear contacts like me, please remember to pay attention to how many boxes your insurance covers and whether the fitting exam is included besides the copay to the regular eye exam. If you're not very clear in mind, call your insurance company to ask before anything happens!

For this and last year's visits, they attempted to charge me for the fitting exam and several boxes of contacts which are covered in my insurance. The store manager sounds very persuasive and seems to understand very well the insurance plan. But she's still wrong and always in the direction of charging ridiculously out-of-pocket amount. I'm not the only one. My coworker has 2 vision insurances and still encountered the same situation. I now find another eye dr close to my work. I'll switch next year.

So we come up with a conclusion: You have to be clear in mind what your insurance offers before getting into the office. If any discrepancy, trust yourself and don't pay till they call your insurance company to clarify!

Like father, like son. When I was four years old, my eye doctor was the father, Dr. Irving Siegel, now retired. Now that I'm many times four years old, my eye doctor is the son, Dr. Frederick Siegel. He actually gets animated when he's flipping and clicking the vision slides, and as I'm saying, "better before, no, better now," he nails the 100th of a percent difference in my vision. To him it's better than a Wii. Dr. Siegel really wants the best for my vision and my eye health. He tells me to call and get free replacements as he'd rather that I change my contacts more, rather than less. He answers all my questions, even the ones that are urban legends (contacts that block UV rays - yes, but not the harmful ones), and takes every worry with the gravity that I feel.

Dr. Siegel has that little-town-family-doctor-bedside-manner that is rarer than icecubes in a European drink. He makes me feel special. Almost like I'm a little kid and he's going to give me a lollipop.

This place is horrible.  They are like the used car salesman of eye doctors. I will not go back here.

Dr Siegel was probably the best doctor I have been too. He really cares about what's best for you and gives you all the time you need. (His staff even knocked on his door to rush him but he did not care).

However, the workers in the front were not so great. I have never been somewhere with the costumer service being sooo bad. It seems like they really didn't want to be there. They were really short with everyone. They would talk bad about other costumers in front of other costumers waiting. I had to reschedule my appointment and I was given an attitude over the phone! I couldn't believe it.  Also, they will try soooo hard to make you buy something. I did need to get a pair of glasses but I wanted to think about either getting a new pair or just replacing the lenses on my old pair. So the lady was trying to show me frames and I told her I wanted to think about it and I would come back. (I had to go back the next week anyway to make sure my new contact lenses were good). She got an attitude with the supervisor  (I think she was the supervisor) saying... "she doesn't want to buy anything!" Like she was tattle telling on me!!! It was soo unreal! Also, I had to wait an hour after my appointment b/c they had to call my insurance. I've never had to wait like that.. usually it's done by the time I'm out. Another thing is if you have an appointment be prepared to wait another 30-40 mins before they call you in.

I'm not sure what to do next year. I  don't think I have been so annoyed before ever...

I really liked Dr Siegel. He was great. He deserves more then 5 stars.
