okay so this is an update AFTER i had my son's party here.  Well first thing, after I made my $100 bday party deposit, I was told that I would be provided with invitations. . . So i was expecting REAL invites. . not some cheapy-cheapy invite that they made using MSWord.  Second--Paid EXTRA to have the party room for the entire length of the party--"great for people with extended family". . . well i did NOT get the party room--i got the LITTLE AREA on the side that only had a few tables--i could NOT fit the parents and the kids.  THIRD, according to the website, we would have our choice of soccer, tball, or dodgeball. MY son was PISSED because he told them he wanted to play dodgeball, but the "party attendant" only allowed them to play soccer.  FOURTH, towards the end of the party the kids wanted to play in their "arcade" but HELLLLLLO, they ran out of freakin' TOKENS!!!
The people working there were nice, but it was kind of unorganized.

Let me first say that I appreciate what they are trying to do for kids with this place.  The indoor soccer and batting cages are a great idea.  The classes are also great, in theory.  But that is as far as my praises can go.

I have signed my 2 year old son up on two different occasions for Soccer Tots - a class aimed at children 18 months and up.  When the class actually happens it is great.  But every other week the instructor doesn't show up and there are a ton of parents in the parking lot trying to soothe upset 2 year olds b/c they can't play soccer that day.  Management has no concept of common courtesy by either calling or emailing about the canceled classes.

It is so aggravating that I stopped taking my son the first time around.  I gave it 6 months and decided to try again...only to be let down on the second week of the new session.  What a disappointment.

Don't bother taking your kids there - go to Off the Wall or the Silver Creek complex.

My son comes here for the toddler totts soccer class on weekends. I have to introduce exercise somehow, right? He loves it, and I was really impressed with the place. I have never been to an indoor arena thing like this.. I was impressed! And the service is really good.

Better than Fontanettis which is all that matters. I come here to use the batting cages and for that purpose, this place is great. From what I've seen they also have a flag football league and indoor soccer games here. The owners are friendly and don't hesitate to help me with any problems I'm experiencing with their equipment. There is also a setting to adjust pitching height in all the machines. Good times.

Brought my son here about twice...but stopped because I kept getting haggled to sign my son up for "batting lessons". The very first time I brought my son, one of the cashiers (his name escapes me) who set up our membership (yes, a membership is required to bat here) followed us to the cage and helped us get set up and explained how everything worked (very helpful right?). Then he stood there and watched (or analyzed) my son's batting, when he was done...he came up and began showing my son how to properly stand and hold the bat (he was only 6 yrs old at the time...still fairly new to the game). Then he let my son go back to batting....and introduced himself to me as one of the resident trainers as he proceeded to try to convince me how some batting lessons would greatly improve my son's swing. I nodded and listened and narrowly escaped his insistance on their "no strings attached free initial assesment/lesson" but when we came back the pressure was still there....so I opted to stay away.

The sales pressure is the reason I gave three stars, also the membership is a bit of a hassle and a pain in the butt. However, the facility is clean, equipment is in good working condition and the staff seemed to be knowledgeable and friendly. The sales pressure (or stalking) was annoying ( no means no!) so we never went back...this place is really close to our home...so we may try it again since baseball season has begun again...if I go back, I will update.

I am a walking exaggeration.  The stories in my head about the "glory" days just keep getting better and better.  It's not that I do it on purpose, it's just that the stories on their own start to modify the truth a bit.

Take for example the 14 home runs I hit my Senior year (it was really only 3).  Or the 6 interceptions i had playing football that year (it was 2).  And the 30-2 record I had wrestling (it was more like 20-10).  Because of these exaggerated stories, I thought/think I have a future in sports.  This future, needs practice.  So I like to hit up the cages every now and then.

So this place has a large indoor soccer arena which seems to be packed.  Since I was far to strong and talented to play soccer (see, another exaggeration), I choose to only use the batting cages.

The cages are state of the art.  Cool video screens showing a pitcher go through the rotation and then the pitch is on it's way.  You can adjust the height and the velocity.

The place looses BIG POINTS for two reasons.  You have to sign up for a membership and pay a fee to even use the place.  They claim that you get "tokens" as part of the membership fee that will get you far.  It doesn't.  You'll probably swing the bat 20 times max and then have to refill.  It's not so much the membership fee that's a pain, it's the time it takes to get it done and if you have guests, forget about it.  The 2nd reason is that they don't let you use wooden bats.  I get it.  It may break.  Those plastic balls being pitched at 55 mph being swung by a person that doesn't do this for a living will literally SHATTER a wooden bat.

Anyways....if you want to play soccer, and pay for some high tech batting cages, this is the place for you.

MVP Arena is a new indoor soccer facility in the South Bay.  It is a good alternative to Off the Wall, but since it is so new, it does not run quite as smoothly.  There is only one field, but the facility also has batting cages for baseball and softball.

Off the Wall has more leagues to choose from so you can play people at the skill level of your choice, where as at MVP you will play against all skill levels since there are only a couple leagues from which to choose.  But since a membership is only $10, I don't really have a problem with the trade off.

Update:
I think MVP has improved a lot since my last post. They rarely wait until the last minute to post schedules anymore and they divided the coed night into two leagues so that the teams are better matched.

So, we held my daughter's 4th birthday party here, and might I say, all the kids (and some of us big kids/adults) had a blast.

So before anyone begins to think, "What in the hell is there for a preschooler to do at an indoor soccer field/batting cage facility," I'll fill you in: they offer about 5 ginormous inflatables, all in the same ginormous room, that put the average jumper rental to shame. They also offer a peewee game of soccer, dodgeball, flag football, or t-ball during your assigned party time, but my kid, her friends and her big kid auntie and dad and mom chose to run free.

And, for those who aren't into being a big kid, there are those fancy-schmancy batting cages, air-hockey, and a flat-screen TV in the party room so you can get your fix of the day's televised sporting event while the rest of us have the real fun. =) (Leave me be, we're a sports-lovin' family; we need a break from it too.)

If you're a parent seeking a place to have your kid's next birthday, please put this place (high) on your list. It's DEFINITELY a great alternative to places like The Jungle (which is exactly what the name implies) and Chuck E. Cheese. Your kid will definitely get their exercise, and parents love it because with the inflatables and the sport offerings, it's just really a great change of pace. Plus, you don't have to fight crowds! We felt like we had the place to ourselves!

I'll tell you why I docked a star, but they're really super minor reasons and I don't think it's anything that can be fixed anyway: 1) They could probably stand to offer a less expensive party package to those with smaller parties and younger kids, like maybe to include the price of food and drink with such a little kid's party. This being said, I still think that it's a fantastic deal. There's no WAY I would have been able to get all that stuff in my small-ass backyard, let alone found a place that would have let me rent one of those super slides for what I paid for the entire party. 2) The party time seems awful short, especially for an older kid with more energy to burn and the need for the afternoon nap eliminated. For my kid and her friends, they did start to sputter out towards the end. However, we caught a glimpse of the incoming party, and MAN, them kids looked like they could shut the place down ... and it was only 4:15 in the afternoon (and they close pretty late)!

Please check this place out! If your kid's like mine, they won't want to leave!
