Of all the times I've been to Muvico, they have all been good.  But then again, I have never had a bad experience at a movie theater.

Buying tickets online is the way to go.  You still get to pick your seats, and you don't have to wait in line or show up super early and sit through the previews because you know your seat is reserved.  When you get there, you just walk to the left side and print your own pre-purchased tickets.  So easy!

Premier Theater: For being double the price of a regular movie ticket, its not worth it.  Yeah you get the big comfy love seats, but in the regular theater, you can put up the armrest and you have your own love seat.  Yeah you get unlimited popcorn, but i really don't eat that much anyways.  The only bonus is that you can take alcohol in there, but why not just drink before and save your money?

Regular Theaters:  I have never found problems with the regular theaters.  They are always kept clean and so far my feet haven't stuck to the ground.  Props to you guys.

Their prices are kinda high at the concession stand (but everyone's are nowadays).  I don't every buy anything, but I thought I might put it out there.

I've also heard a rumor that if you eat at Lazy Dog prior to your movie, you get a discount.  I always forget to ask, but it may be worth it!

    Overall, its a great theater!

But really Muvico, the new movie preview of the weird guy telling you to turn off your phone, you could have done a better job.  It gets pretty annoying. At least have an alternating one so you don't see the same one every time...

If it weren't for discounted $7.50 passes I get from work I doubt I'd come to Muvico very often because it's kinda out of the way from Simi. This theater is located near the outdoor portion of the Oaks Mall. Definitely one of the most unique theaters I've ever experienced. Apparently there are only 9 or so Muvico's in the country and the next closest is in like Illinois. Here are some features of this theater worth noting:

-Viewers can pick their own seats either online or at the theater when purchasing tickets. Great for people who show up right before the movie starts but want good seats (online purchasers) and great for people who kinda want a buffer zone
-Bogarts is the restaurant connected to the theater that is for patrons over 21 because they serve alcohol. So now you can get sloshed when you're about to watch Alvin and the chipmunks: Chipwrecked
    -All the seats are recliners
-The food court has variety! Chicken strips and fries, etc
-DBOX seating. I'd recommend trying the demo seats next to the entrance. These seats cost extra but have built in speakers in the headrests and move to the action in the movie! If money is no issue then these seats might be for you. If you get motion sick then STAY FAR AWAY from these seats.
-Valet Parking. Yes, this theater is that baller that it has valet parking. Obviously I've never used it (heck I used $7.50 movie passes) but it always seems pretty busy

The theater is normally clean and well kept. The employees are very friendly and accommodating every time I've been there. Muvico is next to a handful of pretty good restaurants if you choose to make a date out of it. If your not into crowds I'd avoid this theater because it a happen'n place but for me, for the discount, it's totally worth it.

I didn't get to experience the 21 and over section because we didn't feel like spending more money but the regular place was still friggin awesome!!! The seats werre sooooo comfortable and roomy! I love it!!!

I don't normally go to the movies but I'm glad I went this time. It was very enjoyable to be so comfortable during the movie.

Muvico has become our movie theater of choice when we go out. I love the fact that we get to pick our seats before going into the theater. It makes  the process of going to the movies so much easier. Gone are the days of going to the theater 1 hour before to stand in line so you can get good seats for a new movie. Now, I just go to the Muvico website, pick my seats, and order my tickets online. Then just go to the theater and go to the seats that I have selected without having to worry about someone taking my seats. It saves time and lots of headache.

I personally love the Premier Level seating in some of the theaters. This is the way that we look at it. Normal seats cost $11.50 per seat. So for 2 people, that is $23. Then, we almost always get a medium or large popcorn and a large soda. That comes to about $12. So the total is $35. Now for $20 per ticket, $40 for the couple, you get to sit in the Premier seats. With that, you get these super comfortable love seats with tons of space and a better view. Plus, you get free popcorn and a huge discount on drinks. I think the drink ends up costing $2 so the total cost is $42. So for $7 extra, you get a much better and comfortable experience. Now this is not something that we do every time, but when there is a movie that we are really excited for and want to have a more enjoyable experience, then we will do the Premier level seats.

I also love that they use Digital Projection on all of their screens. No more weird spots from using a traditional film and a much clearer and crisper picture.

The only draw back to this theater is that since it is the "New" theater in the area, it is always busy. But there is not much that the theater can do about that. It's not their fault that they put together a popular concept.

Overall, I prefer going here than any other theater in the area.

Love this theater! I'm here a few times a month (depending on the releases) and wouldn't go anywhere else!

Starting from the front, quick and easy self-serve ticketing machines in the clean well kept lobby. You can also buy your tickets and select your seats before your visit online. However, there is an additional $1.25 charge to do so. Unless you're going to a weekend evening show for a major release, bypass the fee and just buy when you get there. Always clean and odor free theaters. No sticky or slick floors. Comfy, plush, reclining seats in an all stadium seating theater (Great for us shorties!). Nice wide aisles so anyone can pass by you without mangling your legs. A convenient restaurant and bar upstairs (Can't comment on the food, I've never eaten there). Great surround sound and courteous staff.

    Overall great movie going experience!!

Wow wow and more Wow. I love this place compared to any other movie theater. Not only do you get assigned seats which makes things a whole lot simpler, but they have alternative options for movies including 21+ and these roller coaster type seats which was a ridiculous new experience i enjoyed fully. Prices are pretty fair but for what you get, its definitely worth it. I live in the valley and i always want to drive that extra 10 miles just because this movie theater does make a huge difference when experience a new release.

When my grandma wanted to go see "The Help" I knew Muvico was the best place to take her. We had a nice lunch (grilled cheese with tomato and bacon) in the restaurant.

I got her all situated in her seat.... and ducked out of the theater as often as possible for bathroom breaks, soda refills, to get popcorn etc.

And by that I mean: I snuck up to the bar to down a Stoli on the rocks.

Tip: sign up to receive the newsletter on the Muvico website and they will send you a coupon for a free small popcorn.

The theater are always nice and clean with good picture quality and comfy chairs. The reserved seating and 21+ viewings are similar to the Arclight and makes for a more relaxing movie experience.

Usually during later showings on weeknights, the theater is pretty quiet so you do have to deal with groups of kids and teenagers everywhere which is nice. Some of the valley theaters are just too noisy on weeknights.

    Came here on the weekend

$6.50 for a bottle of water!

But what is surprising is that
    $5.50 Sobe Life Water
    $5.50 Soda

I do not know why they charge so much for the water as they do not tell you where the water is from, it could be flown in from Fiji or France but they do not tell you until you buy.

Regular tickets are $11.50 and VIP is $20, but in VIP you get free popcorn

Came here to watch planet of the apes in VIP,  this time they do not bring in the food and drink for you so you are paying a premium to pick up the food and drink yourself to the seat.  When Muvico first opened up, you ordered the food and then they brought it to your seat.

I was in the front row of the VIP section, and my seat was very squeaky.

If you watch a movie here make sure you see it in the first 2 weeks, otherwise they stick you in a tiny cinema with 20 seats and they still charge you the same as in the big screen!

If you want to buy tickets fast here do NOT go to the box office counter, go to the ticket kiosks as there is usually not a line here and you can get the tickets and pick your seats in 1 minute.  Where as at the box office it takes forever as you have to tell the person the movie, time, seat, zip code, gender, race, sexual orientation, etc, etc.

This is by far the nicest theater in all of Ventura County. It is clean, conveniently located at the T.O mall, and has many accommodations that other theaters simply don't have. There is reserved seating selection which is helpful in case you've bought tickets for a busy night, you'll know you can sit together with your group. There is a bar upstairs as well, called Bogarts, which has fine service. The theater service is great too. One instance, my friends and I were backed up on the freeway because of a fire. So we arrived late, but after talking with the worker, she kindly replaced our tickets for another time.

Great service, reserved seating, a bar, and cleanliness...definitely, a good place to go see a movie.

Don't waste your money, you work too hard for it.  Drinking booze in the theater is a cool concept but not worth the extra money for your ticket. My advice is to save your dough, stick to your roots and sneak alcohol in your girlfriend's purse like the rest of us geniuses.

On a positive...the seats are freaking comfortable.  At $20 a ticket, they better be.

Like most movie theaters these days, the food and drinks are overpriced at Muvico.  However, the stadium seating there is much more comfortable than at other stadium seating-style theaters.  Also, being able to buy reserved seats is very convenient; you can show up right before the movie starts.

Clean, comfortable, and you can drink in the premier seats.  Conveniently located at the mall, great place to end up after shopping, and the bar upstairs is pretty decent also.  And you can drink while you watch movies.

I enjoy the reserved seating selection, so you can see ahead of time if it's even worth it to buy a ticket to a popular movie.  Also, you can drink during the movie.

    And you can drink.

It was something different and their food menu is much better with more options than a regular AMC. I will morel likely come back for any movie worth watching.

Now, I'm all for a fun pricey night out when I'm feeling racy but this place is crazy overpriced. They require that you reserve your seats and sit in said designated seats which I can roll with. However, if they're going to be THAT expensive they should darn well make sure that nobody gets stuck in the dreaded front row seat where you have to put some major effort into contorting yourself into getting an acceptable view of the screen. They seriously couldn't put at least a 5 foot tall platform for the bottom row to sit on or something? Overall, I had a meh experience. I'll probably give them another shot on a night when they're not so busy or make reservations in advance.

The upshot of this place would be the beautiful interior and the excellent customer service at the concession stand. The people booking your seats could have a better attitude. Much better. You couldn't cover up the stench of stress and aggravation with 3 bottles of Axe.

We had trouble with this movie theater a few months ago but they gave us a refund  and we have been back almost every other week.

The best part is that you get to pick your seating. That means you don't have to show up until the movie is about to start. We usually sit in the premier seating section for 21 and over and we absolutely love it. You can bring in drinks into the theater and watch your movie in the most comfortable love seats. It is on the pricey side but well worth it for a  date night!

This is by far my favorite theater to frequent in the Thousand Oaks area. I love the stadium seating, the ample legroom between the rows and the sound quality. Yeah the seats are expensive, but if you want cheap go to the matinee.

Although we've only been a few times, I particularly like the reserved premium seating. The seats can be converted to love seat size for intimate viewing pleasure and you have to be over 21 which is an added plus! Wine or beer while watching the movie is wonderful!

Because the movie is so popular, they should do a bit better job with caring for the upholstery. I fear the seats will be worn soon and won't be as comfortable. Hope that doesn't happen for a while!

Holy cow...I had fried cheese sticks while watching my movie.  Amazing.

We decided to come here after shopping in The Oaks Shopping Center...we just randomly decided to see a movie.  First off when we bought our tickets they asked us where we wanted to sit.  They actually showed us a map of the theater and had us pick specific seats.  Oh wow that was amazing in itself.  No worrying about how fast we needed to get to the theater to get our seats.  We were free to use the bathroom, get snacks, mill about and look at posters and then go to the movie.  The other thing I loved about this theater was the fact they have great food choices.  As I said before I ordered fried cheese sticks with curly fries for around 8 bucks...it was totally worth the 8 bucks.

It might have cost a tad more all together for the movie but it was way worth it.  I will make sure to come back here in the future when I am in the area.

Just make sure if you are watching a late movie do not park in the parking garage on the other side of the mall...if you get out after the mall is closed you will have to walk all the way around...just like we had to.

So, last night was our first time to Muvico, which is kinda sad considering that it's been at the Oaks Mall for a while now and we live about 10 minutes from there.  But I'm a Groupon addict and the Muvico offer was just too good to pass up.  2 Premier Seat movie tickets, dinner for 2 + popcorn for $58 and we were not disappointed.  Bogie's was perfect.  Great ambiance, good food selections, PERFECT cocktails and our server Michelle was spot on.  Kudos Michelle, you rocked it out of the park.  The top draw for me in the 21 and over premier seating is not having to share public space with rude, self centered, inconsiderate brats in any age group under 21.  Having the ability to pre select your seats, another plus.  Sound level perfect, seating design perfect.  Just a great all around experience.  Another note to Michelle's credit, she told us about dinner and a movie for $25 per person Monday thru Thursday, had no idea that existed.  I am sure the hubs and I will be going back real soon, there's no reason not to.

I've done something I thought I'd never do. Plan for my eventual death. When that day comes, I've decided I wanted my ass firmly planted on, or against one of, Muvico's theater seats.

Am I serious? Well, is the sky blue?  Do tornadoes only happen in Kansas?  Is my favorite show currently on television Modern Family?  DO I ONLY WRITE REVIEWS EVERY SO OFTEN?!

Yes, I'm serious.  Serious enough to drive all the way to Thousand Oaks when I want to watch a movie in it's best, presentable form and viewing experience.

And this, here, my friends, leaves me flummoxed.  Flummoxed because this theater has an average rating of 3 1/2 stars

    Why??

What do you want out of your movie-going experience that Muvico doesn't provide you?  Are you a audiophile?  Their audio is great.  Their screens are visually stunning.  And they have balcony seating, with seats that feel like La-Z Boy recliners. Supplement all that with the fact their seats are spacious and comfy, you can bring in food from the restaurant -- well, sort of a restaurant --- located just next door, and you can drink alcohol.

If God came down and told me I could only go to one movie theater for the rest of my life, and I must choose right then and there, I would first say "hi," and formally greet him. I would also wonder if I was wearing clean underwear in case, you know, it was my time.  I would also wonder if I was on Candid Camera.

    BUT...

I would also have an answer for him. With a smug look on my face, as if I were expecting his arrival, I'd tell him, easily and hands down, that Muvico would be the only movie theater I'd ever care to go to again. And for the rest of my life.

Ultimately, I'm digging Muvico for it's rear end-seducing seats, balcony seating that provides the benefit of seclusion, much better dining fare than other theaters, and above average video and audio quality per screen.

So this is more of a 3.5.  I have to rate this by putting it in the category of The Archlight Cinemas which in my eyes sets the standard of cinemas of the future. I told my girlfriend that this is like buying a generic version of Nutella, its just not quite the same.
The screens are beautiful sound is great and I enjoy stadium seating but the chairs in my opinion are way to hard and shaped like a "L". The popcorn is pretty ghetto and to save money they do not give you a spare box to dump popcorn into (if you wanted to share), instead they give you a little plastic bad which is pretty annoying.
They have a premiere seating area which is pretty nice to enjoy for some movies but after beer, wine, food, tickets, you are looking at dropping 100$. I save it for midnight showings and stuff in that nature.
My conclusion is that this is a nice place to see a movie. Grab some movie candy at the store, then get a drink and popcorn and enjoy, but I just enjoy Nutella over choco-nut spread period.

I like more relaxing movie settings, and I will not find that in Oxnard. I much rather make the drive to Thousand Oaks and watch a movie the way it was meant to be watched.

Came to the movies yesterday with a lady friend to catch a movie and hang out. As we approach the theater theres a big screen over the doors showcasing movies playing now (nice!). Very nice architectual concept and appeal.

The theater looks very organized and maintained (it is very new so that was expected)

As we got our tickets to watch Due Date, the cashier asked us to click on the seats where we wanted to sit ...as she showed us the computer touch screen  with a layout of the seats... completely astounded me. We choose the balcony seating which the cashier recomended.

It was perfect, we were about an hour early so we walked around the mall a bit and talked without having to worry about going in early to get good seats. Before we knew it...it was time to go back. We stopped by the concession stand and got a medium popcorn, a small icee, and a medium sprite (which was ridiculously large... really america????... really!?!?).... for about $15.

The seats where very comfortable, screen visuals and audio was astonishingly good. Overall a great experience and will definitely be my theater of choice.

Move over Arclight. My rear end will now be planting itself on Muvico's uber cushy love seats regardless of its suburban digs.  The VIP theaters upstairs are monumentally large, allowing the massive love seats and an additional five inches or so of space between you and your date night neighbors.  Hallelujah!!

I also quite enjoyed bringing a REAL glass into the theater with me.  Drinking wine out of a plastic cup (a la Arclight) is plain uncivilized.  Since the boozing theaters and bar are upstairs, there's really no need to rock those lovely "I'm allowed to be here" bracelets.

We showed up five minutes pre-flight to pick up the tickets we bought on-line, grab a couple of drinks and file into our seats.  Sadly there was a relatively long line of people waiting to get drinks...and their free popcorn at a counter adjacent to the theater entrance.  As I wasted time grumbling under my breath, my husband walked right up to the bar, ordered our drinks and we were in our seats in time for the previews.  Lesson learned....once again.

This was my favorite theater when I lived out in Thousand Oaks. This is still one of my favorites.

The parking isn't too bad and is sort of separated from the other mall parking. Even during the rush of shopping season you can still find a parking spot but just be prepared to walk a bit.

The theaters themselves are clean and the floors are generally not sticky. I see the cleaning crews come in and start to clean which is always a plus for me. So are the bathrooms, it is nice to see the entire facility clean.

The food is pretty good. I have had the general movie fare to the curly fries and don't have any complaints.

The prices aren't that much different than the ArcLight theaters and I am ok with paying those prices.

The projectors are nicer than those at the Arclight, they provide a higher quality in every theater than in just one or two. Now If they could just add an IMAX addition to the building then this place would be the complete package.

Some of you might find this crazy, but I was totally put off by their posters and menus! Yep, I know I know, sounds nuts. So Muvico has these large, poster sized menus hanging outside the theater... except they look like they were made using Windows 3.1 Paint. the fonts and text are blurry, and they are using some 20 year old clip-art. Come on guys, if you want to be a "premium" movie theater experience, learn to use real fonts.

The first impression I got was "we don't pay attention to details", and if you can't get the easy things right, I worry about staying for dinner and a movie. If you fix this, let me know.

For $20 a person, get a real graphics designer.

For a year I drove by this place thinking it was a Spanish language movie theater. What kind of word is Muvico? They don't make movies, they show them! A friend suggested we see a film here and said it was like the Arclight in L.A. with big assigned seats, wide screens, 21+ seating in certain theaters, a bar and restaurant inside. I said yes.

Muvico is now my preferred theater in the area. The Arclight is $14 while Muvico's non 21+ seating is $11.50. The 21+ theaters are $14. So, a deal I'd say. Parking is super easy. Even on a busy Saturday night, I am able to park in the closest section to the theater.

The staff is really nice. No one complained when I exchanged tickets to see a different movie. They're courteous at the snack stand and friendly in the bar. They have a happy hour with $3 draft beers which is a better deal than the coffee. It pays to drink!

Projection is good. I noticed the first bad projection after a half dozen films -- a yellowish band across the bottom of the screen -- but I might have been the only person who noticed. Overall, clean, comfortable and I don't hear explosions from neighboring screens/movies. No obnoxious commercials beforehand and the clientele is quiet, especially for the suburbs.

I haven't tried the restaurant but I like the Lazy Dog Cafe right next door.

Okay...this place has issues. Major ones.

They oversold our row. So basically we get there to see Wolverine and have to have like a 10 minute discussion with all these 14 year old boys, and 2 more couples, about how they are sitting in our seats. Then of course, the usher comes over, and she has no idea what to do, so she gets the manager, who says, oh you guys do have the same seats, laughing the whole time. So he says, so who volunteers to move. Well obviously a group of 10 boys could split in to 2 groups of 5, but they were still reluctant! Anyway we all got seated eventually.

The moral of the story is, beware of the interwebs. Especially movie theater ticket websites. They are not trustworthy at all!

Muvico gets 3 stars.  5-stars for the normal theater downstairs, that serves fries/chicken strips/popcorn shrimp and normal theater treats for the price of any ot h the other competing theaters (Mann, Regal, AMC).  It is clean and the seats are totally cozy.

The "VIP" upgrade upstairs is ridonculous and get's 1-star (hence the 3 star average).  The food is overpriced and subpar.  If the highlight of your night is to grab a drink before the show, well, I'm sorry...why?  It is pointless.  The one time I went my friend chose this VIP theater for her choice after I offered to take her out for her birthday.  It was us and a group of rowdy young 20 something year olds who were let in probably by their friend that works there.  Definitely NOT worth the $60-$80 at the end of the night...made me resent the movie I watched, "I love you, Man" because I paid so much.

I agree, with many people here - the $9 VIP upgrade does seem excessive at first, bringing the cost of the show up to $20.  What makes it worthwhile in my mind:

    - free popcorn
    - $3.00 off coupon (on my ticket) for any other food/drink item
    - pre-booked seat selections (why I like arclight)
    - separate balcony that is 21+
    - wine and other alcoholic beverages available
    - sweet seats...specifically the couches. Best movie theater seating I've experienced

So yes, you pay a bit more, but in my opinion, an extra $9 is worth the added benefits you get with a VIP ticket at Muvico.
