1 review for Museum of the Shenandoah Valley
Wow! Museum of the Shenandoah Valley is way more than you are probably expecting to find in a town the size of Winchester, VA. Designed by architect Michael Graves, the 50,000-square-foot museum boasts four galleries, a museum store and tea room. The 10minute orientation film shown before you enter the exhibition area is worth the price of admission alone!
MSV really brings the history and culture of Valley life into perspective. From early settlers to modern era immigrants, the museum does a fantastic job engaging visitors of all ages understand the significance of the Shenandoah Valley.
The exhibit areas are truly first class and on a level you would expect to see in the Smithsonian. A wide range of permanent exhibits showcase how the valley was shaped and settled and grew over the last 250yrs. Excellent examples of valley culture are on display including pottery, furniture and implements used in daily life.
Even if you have already visited MSV, you always have a reason to return. A changing exhibits area continually provides a reason to visit the museum which is on the grounds of the Glen Burnie estate and gardens.
