Museum Hack does renegade tours and company team building at the world's best museums! Our tours include the untold stories of the art and artists, juicy gossip about the museum, and fun interactive activities in the galleries. We also take fun photos with the art, and occasionally drink wine. Every tour is unique and customized on the fly to include the pieces our guides are really passionate about (not necessarily the most famous or most expensive pieces). We also specialize in team building! We host teams for excursions through the museum that offer the same fun and fast-paced approach as our public tours, but are optimized for bringing a team closer together and fostering a great company culture. We strive to offer a one-of-a-kind museum experience, one that you wouldn't get by simply visiting the museum on your own. Public Tours: Metropolitan Museum of Art, American Museum of Natural History Private and Company Tours: Metropolitan Museum of Art, American Museum of Natural History, Fraunces Tavern, New York Historical Society, Rubin Museum of Art, Brooklyn Museum, Gulliver's Gate, Colonial Dames

I set up part of my sister's bachelorette party to be a MuseumHack tour. We had the tour on a Saturday afternoon and there were about 8 of us. Our wonderful tour guides for the day were Jessye and Lewis. They were extremely fun, knowledgeable people. The tour itself was amazing and everyone had a great time. My sister is a serious art nerd, so she connected with Jessye and Lewis on a totally different level. It was quite a spectacle! She really had the best time.
Hey, are you planning a bachelorette party? MuseumHack was awesome because --
1) Scheduling with them was crazy easy. I had a point of contact that helped me with booking and payment. I was only required to put down a deposit to hold the date, but I was able to pay the rest of the amount due closer to the actual party, which gave me time to collect from the girls.
2) We were able to get a photographer through MuseumHack for an extremely reasonable price.
3) I was in touch with one of my tour guides (Jessye) weeks before the actual tour and told her about my sister and her interests. The tour was catered to my sisters art preferences and quirky humor.
4) Even though we had our tour on a Saturday afternoon in the summer, the crowds were there, but didn't get in the way of our tour.
5) There was a little something for everyone on this tour, even us folk who aren't extremely familiar with art.
6) We were able to get a wine pit stop during the tour. Alcohol before and during the tour was a great idea.
7) Our tour had a special guest! I won't reveal what happened exactly in case you're going on the tour, but it was beautiful and many of us later confessed that we almost cried. I definitely teared up.
All in all, this was awesome, the best, and amazing. Worth the money, worth the couple hours, worth the memories.
Thanks, Museum Hack! You all are terrific. (My sister was still raving about it the next day!)Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Tom M.Casper, WY237Feb 4, 2020
I highly recommend Museum Hack for an out-of-the-ordinary group experience.
Kristina, our tour guide at the Met in NYC, was full of energy and information, so much so that there were often random people gathering around us to listen to her explain one of the exhibits.
My only regret is that we did not plan more time to explore the museum independently following the guided tour. We moved SO FAST through the museum that we saw a TON, but I know we missed SO MUCH along the way.
Five stars, for sure.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Sandy M.Torrance, Los Angeles, CA1977515Jan 30, 2019
It was great fun running around The Met, learning about the Bad Ass Women who can be found throughout the museum. Elizabeth was a fun, knowledgeable and energetic tour guide. She made the tour great!!
We went to Sangria 46 for dinner and ordered mango sangria just because of a story she told us about a sculpture!!!
This tour is a great way to experience a museum in a different way!! Thanks Elizabeth!!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Liz N.New York, NY12214029Dec 18, 2018
Absolutely the best experience we've had! Wonderful tour and tour guides. Elizabeth & Scott had my husband and I beyond interested and I learned so many things I had no idea about even after visiting the met for 8+ years regularly.
Highly recommend this tour to anyone who wants to have a great time, learn in a fun and entertaining way and laugh constantly during a lovely evening.
You will definitely see us again!
P.s: I ended up winning the down to party challenge and took home "William" (the blue hippo on the photo). It was my husband's birthday and I gotta say best party ever.
Thank you for such a wonderful experience !Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jun 19, 2018
I've been on two tours and both accounts were AMAZING!! My brother and I went to the Un-Highlights Tour of the Met and the Badass Bitches Tour. We're both from the area, and the Met isn't so foreign to us - we've visited countless times before on school trips but viewing the museum through this lense was entirely different and so much fun!!
Why did we go if we're from NY/NJ and Met isn't so new to us?
Well we both loved taking AP Art History during high school. For myself I even minored in it during College! We both really enjoy museums and talking about art and this whole experience sounded incredible so we tried it out and loved it!! (that's why we did the second tour a year later!)
So my advice is if you're visiting a museum for a second time -- do this. In my opinion when you first visit the experience and exploration should be curated by your own interests and observations. This tour was a great way to look at artifacts often overlooked because you're not familiar w/ the back story. The tour guides really help you bring each object to life by providing a unique backstory to the piece, the artist who created it, the room in which it was placed, etc. Truly a great space to connect w/ those around you and the pieces of art. During the un-highlights tour, we walked around and viewed several pieces and then ended w/ a scavenger hunt and writing a postcard. During the Badass Bitches tour, we did a similar tour of pieces made by famous women or of badass women, and at the end we did some cheesy posing alongside sculptures and got a Polaroid of it.
Totally would recommend for company bonding events, they advertise for that. If it's within my bridal budget one day I would totally consider doing this as a bachelorette thing. The tour guides (graduate students often) are truly knowledgeable and wonderful to talk to you. If you go on an afternoon tour you're free to roam after the tour is over!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Cheryl I.Manhattan, New York, NY395134398Jun 3, 2017
Sassy, saucy and a little sleazy, exactly how I like my history. This is the E! network of museum tours. Cut the boring stuff, because we're keeping up with Louis XVI of France's Court.
Oh, you're too good for this are you? You turn your nose up because you're a historical purist are you? Well then you must be fun at parties and I say that sarcastically because this party is not for you. Bye!
I want to know what's up with Marie Antoinette's gilded silk and velvet doghouse. I want to know about ancient fart jokes. Frankly I need a break from describing key features of the USSR re-established control in Czechoslovakia.
Jen and Sean are awesome. We had so much fun running around the Met, fixing botched restoration works. Yes, you read that right. We did a damn good job of it too. Please refer to image for reference.
So put on some comfy sneakers and get historical!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Robin G.Princeton, NJ12404002415Apr 2, 2017
I love the Met. I LOVE museums. This tour with museum hack, made this trip to the met the MOST FUN one I've ever had!
We had the museum hack for a friends bachelorette party (talking dirty side of history here, people). And it was absolutely perfect. Our tour guides were Lia and Sarah, they are AMAZING- highly recommend them if you can. Their energy, timing, amazing puns, and style MADE this trip.
A very awesome way to see a different side of art! Go do this!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Business owner information

Hooray for fun at the museum! We are SO stoked to hear you had such a good time on your tour of the Met with Lia and Sara -- and that they helped you see a familiar museum in a whole new light. :)
Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts with us, Robin! We'll be sure to share your awesome feedback with Lia, Sara, and the rest of the team. We hope your friend's wedding is beautiful! - Tasia, Chief of Staff - Christy W.Bay Shore, NY1273322367Sep 2, 2018
I recently went to the MET with a bachelorette party, and we did a private tour through the "Museum Hack" company. This has to be one of the best tours I've ever experienced!
Our high-energy, enthusiastic, and fast-walker tour guide Lindsay, kept us engaged for the two hour duration by telling us funny/scandalous stories about particular pieces of artwork, used technology (iPad) to enhance the experience past what the plaques on the wall stated, encouraged team building games, and took us to exclusive areas of the museum.
My favorite part of the tour was when we went to the rooftop gallery (who knew there was a rooftop at the MET?!) and took a group photo in front of the beautiful NYC skyline. At the end, we each received a Polaroid picture of our rooftop photo!
I do think the $99 tour price was a bit steep, considering that I was under the impression that a glass of wine would be included, and we didn't receive any. I guess when you consider how expensive NYC is and how much you typically pay for a ticket to a show, it puts the price into a realistic perspective.
Overall, this is the absolutely best way to experience the MET if you're not that into art and want a fun and unique experience in NYC!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Anthony S.Tampa, FL329May 10, 2018
Late Review, but late is better than never!
I went on the 'Badass Bitches' Museum Hack tour during my trip to San Francisco a couple months back with Kate as my guide.
I'm not someone one would generally ever refer to as a "feminist", nor am I generally a lover of museums. I'll look at a piece of art, think about it for the briefest of moments, and move on. Kate's overflowing energy kept me engaged for the entire two hours of the tour... two hours longer than the museum would have ever kept me engaged otherwise!
I learned more about the pieces of our focus than I'd have ever gleaned from my own assumptions (or research, because ain't nobody got time for that), and came away with an insight that really instilled an appreciation of women and their utterly underrated accomplishments. All whilst never creating a feeling of contempt or misandry towards those of 'Y', as one might assume of a tour empowering the baddest-assed bitches of history.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Nov 9, 2015
I recently went on a tour of the Met with Museum Hack and it was awesome! The Met is a massive and somewhat daunting place to navigate solo and sometimes tours of the museum are to big and you cannot really hear what the guide is saying.
Museum Hack tour guides are fun, hip, energetic people that have a great sense of humor and make the tour of a museum a blast. I learned a lot of things about the art in the museum, really cool stories about not just the art and the artist, but also the circumstance in the artists life at the time. They also sent us on a scavenger hunt to find specific things in the museum, which was a ton of fun.
These guys are great and make going to the museum a fun adventure.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Gabrielle S.Austin, TX119610Jul 20, 2018
Every year, me and the hubs take our birthdays off from work and do fun stuff all day long. It's pretty much the best. This year, one of the things we did on my bday was the Museum Hack Un-Highlights tour of the Met.
Before we started, our fearless guide asked us if there was anything in particular we were dying to see. All of us were up for whatever she wanted to show us, so off we went. She led us at a brisk but not unmanageable pace (and I have lousy knees) literally hither and yon.
We saw everything from marble statues (which we posed and took little take-home pictures with) to Egyptian crypts (and learned why an "unimpressive" specimen was on bold display) to an ancient Islander statue (and were educated on how he was used in trade). And so much more, as they say. We learned cool things about the artists of famous pieces, pieces that were interesting more for the stories behind them, as well as about how curators managed to get some of the art. It was fascinating and fun.
I should say that, if left to our own devices, both me and the hubs are modern art people. I've come to realize that when it comes to more classical art, I need to know the story behind it - the people, their passions and maybe the politics - to have fun viewing it. If you're at all similar, go on this tour.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0
