I did a short term rent and lived here for about 6 months.  I chose this location because it was close to work.  I also considered Riata but just wasn't sure if I wanted to be in a place with that many units (even though it's relatively spread out).

Overall, it was a good place to live.  I was fortunate and had quiet neighbors.  On the third floor, renovated upgraded unit - mine was one of the first that they started upgrading.  It had new cabinet front and counter (they basically replaced the cabinet front/doors with new hardware), new paint and carpet.  It was nicely painted as well in neutral color, instead of the awful, plain white.

I didn't have many issues with the unit except slow flowing sink and broken bathroom towel rack.  Because it wasn't serious, the sink was fixed within 2 days.

I used the gym quite often even though it was very small.  All machines were pretty new and in good shape.  I used the pool few times as well and nothing special about it.  The apartment complex has a neat little trail that connects the front and back half of the complex.  Not long enough for a trail run, but a nice 5-10 minute walk after a dinner.

Though I won't be living in this part of town anytime soon, if I had to live in Arboretum area, I'd consider returning here.

    Updated - 7/12/2011 12 Check-ins Here

Time for an update since I just moved out...
So here's the skinny on the place after you spend a year on the third floor with granite counter tops and an awesome view... Yes those are still cool to have, but then you could never keep up with cooling this place all summer... The insulation just doesn't do the job and that was a factor in my decision to leave especially when you have triple digit summers.... The other thing I didn't care for is the old bathroom sink and tub (rust has been painted over!) and the fact that my toilet vibrated while the neighbors AC was on.. Oh wait is this a feature??
Also on my "I disapprove" list is the fact that management never ever cleans the building! The best you can hope for is a leaf blower now and then... Yikes!
Finally, this place does not have a USPS dropbox on either mailing drops... You have to take it in to the office and put in a basket! Really?

I guess I decided to leave for all the above reasons but also because they raised my rent whereby it was no longer interesting for me to stay and enjoy my view and granite countertops and I increasingly felt the dissatisfaction of the above mentioned annoyances... Sayonara!

Museo's management made an interesting choice for their open house and remodel unveiling.  They contacted a custom art framer Diane Graden of Frames of Reference.  They asked that Diane bring several local artists' works to display in their office/clubhouse for an art opening and a showing of Museo's latest remodel.  Diane certainly made the best use of the facility whose primary function is an office, then a clubhouse, but was also redesigned with the wall space and a lighting plan to display art.

Local artists Daphne Holland, Kristi Darnell Battani, Marilyn Fenn, Sharon Kyle Kuhn, and Roxi McClosky Morris are exhibiting several original works of 'encaustic', a method of painting with wax that predates the roman empire.  Any medium is as interesting as the artist makes it, and these artists demonstrated forethought to product with a developed process that is self-evident.  Roxi's gridded process speaks well to her mathematical approach and skilled portraiture, and Sharon's use of outdated technological storage media was dimensional, timely and interesting.  Daphne's cuts through thick layers of wax, draw the eye along its edges and split thick fields of rich and sometimes translucent color.  Wax captures light  in its brighter colors and gently transforms it into a soft glow.  The dependence art has on light is nicely visible in encaustic painting.

Museo is tucked away into Northwest hills next to a natural area that is big enough to support a ton of wildlife.  Any given day, you will see deer, skunk, raccoons, opossum, armadillo and occasionally fox.  The natural area has running water and clearly labeled paths that will lead you to a spring-fed fish pond.  It is a great backdrop for any creative person who draws inspiration from nature and a great place if you own a dog and enjoy long walks.

I will leave the apartments' specifications to another reviewer, but I will say that the choice of fixtures and colors are new and now. If you're not going to build equity for a time there is certainly no law that says you can't live in style.  Hardwood floors and granite counter tops seem like the new standard for stylish apartment living and this didn't escape Grey Star.  It's only a couple of blocks from the Arboretum, one light away from mopac and 15 minutes from downtown .  The management boast a low pressure sales approach of a salesman with a quality product, sure deposit and enough floor plans to satisfy most.

In keeping with the property's namesake, the Italian word for museum and their slogan "Where life becomes art," Museo intends to install new art by local artists quarterly. Their interest in the arts caught my eye, and anyone who would further the exposure of local artists is alright in my book.  An honorable mention to Jesse Bloom of Ecstatic cuisine for his red chile stuffed date with candied walnuts, those were delectible.

Staff: Courteous, friendly, quick to respond to concerns.  Some of the staff know me by name now, and are fine with my coming into the front office frequently to use the computers.  They have also been accomodating when I was out of town when the rent was due and let me pay a little late, but after the grace period, with no fee. They also take security very seriously (although the gate sometimes gets left open for maintenance projects, and that is a little irritating).

Maintenance:  Have always responded to concerns quickly.  I have had a couple of instances where my work orders have been lost, but for the most part, the office staff and maintenance staff seem to communicate well and get things done.  When I am not satisfied with the job they've done, they are usually back the same day to fix it (but that hasn't happened often).  Always courteous.

Apartment:  Condition upon move-in was fine.  I especially like that they have replaced all the toilets with the water-conservation ones, so it only takes 1.4 gallons to flush (thereabouts).  Noise is not a problem, ever.  I moved in during a "special" time, so I got a nice deal on my apartment which makes the price just fine.  Also, easy access to Mopac and 183, but very slow going during rush hour (shocker).

Overall, a nice place to live.

Wow. Shady characters are crawling in this place. The last 2 months I was here, the cops were at my building 1 to 2 times per week. When they weren't there, I'd walk to my car at night to see someone just sitting in their car. Drug dealer?
