Something I don't usually try at a Japanese place, but after reading other reviews, I steered away from what I would have tried first.
So I waited fir a Japanese customer to order and ordered the same thing. Logic sometimes fails!!
Pleasantly rewarded with a yummy soup lunch. Recommend the Kake Soba. It is also a healthy choice, low salt dish.
BTW, the other gentleman seemed to enjoy the dish.
The Green Tea in the can was authentic but overpriced. Like my home made ice tea. No sugar or artificial flavor. -

I also agree with Cynthia D. & Gerry X. This place isn't the best, but it's a relatively good choice in the airport.
Now, here is my scoop:
1. Skip Sushi/raw fish-- way overpriced, not filling, cheap ingredients, not even fresh.
2. Skip Uni Don-- A small piece of eel on top of bowl of rice. For $14. Taste alright but the eel is too small and the rice is waaaay too much. They don't have extra sauce so after you finished your eel in 2 bites, you are doomed.
3. Skip the tempura- They don't have a good fryer. Enough said, I believe.
I have decided the wise choice is the curry. It's actually pretty decent. No, it's not the best curry I ever had, but it's not horrible. For $10 in the airport, I actually think it is a pretty good choice.
I'd return to this place again if I need to feed myself in this airport. -

The food was a little overpriced but it was decent. There was not enough food for the price but you are in an airport. I ordered the boiled octopus over a bed of spinach (I believe) and it was pretty good. I ordered a spicy tuna California roll and it was definitely on the small side. But I still say it was decent for an airport.

I have to agree with Cynthia. It's alttle overpriced, but unless you want to go thru security and parking and drive awhile to get better (seeing if you KNOW where to get better at if you are only passing thru) its this or the other alittle over priced eateries in the mall.
I took alot of pics so I will post them here...I did have one issue...I ordered shrimp (I was still on Lent at the time) and I recieved my irder promptly. But I got 3 pieces of shrmip with alot of rice....was hoping for at least 4. But this didn't mean it didn't tast good...it did.
From what I saw the work area behind the counter was clean and the staff was quick and ..friendly but not too chatty.
Some of these question I am answering as yes; alot is shared since this is in a food court at the airport. Wi-Fi is not free but it is available. -

Transiting at Detroit airport while I was on a business trip. I didn't have any expectation for an airport fast food place but Musashi still managed to go below my non-existence expectation! How amazing!
I didn't order any sushi because they didn't look very attractive. Instead, I ordered a curry rice, thinking that one can never mess it up given that you can always use pre-packaged Japanese curry. However, what I got was a bowl of watery curry with some tasteless chicken cube. Fairly disgusting.
And the food was expensive for the quality, even when comparing with other airport food..
Customer service didn't help either. The cashier threw away my itemized receipt before asking whether I want it. -

Honestly the food here is horribly over priced. Everything you get here is expensive a 4oz container of rice is 2.50 and that the cheapest thing here and dishes are at least seven and any sushi that is sold here is made weeks in advanced (usually 9.00-15.00 depending on what you choose) and has some kind of color bleeding problem (i think they use dyes). Also they don't have any fountain drinks the drinks they serve are beer, wines, and teas. An up side is their usually isn't a line. They do not allow credit or debit on anything below 10.00.
The food though isn't that bad, it's along the lines of the kind of prepackaged sushi you would get at the grocery store. The hot dishes are some kind of frozen stuff that is microwaved. -

For being on the go and wanting a non fast food meal, this was entirely adequet. The pictures of the combos on the wall were accurate. If I have to pick between this and mc d, here is where I'd go. People seem to be pretty harsh on this spot, let me remind you, we're at an airport, and most airports.. especially the one I flew out of - don't have even this as an option

Yuck. Japanese fast food can't be this bad. Really. How can they call it Japanese? Sure this is one of huge hub for Japanese peeps fly in and out but this is disgrace to America.

This is the worst excuse for Japanese food I've ever encountered. I had tempura udon that was barely recognizable. The tempura shrimp looked like it had been pan fried after sitting in a steamer for a few days. And that's about what it tasted like. I could manage just one bite of the shrimp. The soup itself was nothing more than salt water. This place is just nasty in every respect. I would have been much happier if I'd hit up the Burger King right next door.

Can be found in a dimly lit food corral w/ ur choice of Musashi, BK, Starbucks, or some deli. We made the wrong choice. Wife got shrimp tempura bowl - 2 pcs, mushy not crisp w/loads of rice & bland veggies. I got beef yaka-something (?) - it was boiled, not grilled; w/ lots of salty soup and rice. Typical airport food - NOT good. You want good airport food? Try Gordon Biersch in HNL .They rock! Oh, btw, to get the bad taste out of our mouths, we hustled over to Mrs Field's and muched on some cookies - semisweet w/o nuts, mm-mmm.

If i could give this place a zero star, I could. I agree with the previous reviews about the food. Absolutely nasty food! I took a couple of bites & threw it out. Not worth my money & taste buds! Should have went to Einstein Bros. The sauce was very salty. YUCK!!!!!!

wow... this place is fuckin horrible. really bad service and even worse food. nothing i ordered tasted like it belonged in a japanese sushi joint. i think any one of my god children could've made something that tastes better with rice and play-doh. everything was so bland and in really small portions but still at airport dining prices...
the only thing they didn't fuck up? my sapporo beer.
