It's great to find a dog store that doesn't just cater to little dogs.  Having a medium sized dog... sometimes it's hard to find cute stuff.  But I have gotten the best collars, leashes and durable toys here for my barking child.  And I love their assortment of dog foods.  My dog is on the raw diet and it's nice to find treats and other goodies that don't have tons of junk added to them.

All of the employees have been very friendly and knowledgeable when we've been there and treated any dogs that have walked in like they were the cutest things ever.  I haven't been to any of their social hours yet but one day we'll make it over there with our pup.

Oh, and their cat section is pretty decent for a dog store.  They have some different treats and little toys for the meowing variety.

I think this is a really cute dog boutique... but that's also what I don't like about it.  It's just so exclusive.  I'm a cat owner and I stopped in to see if it was anything like my favorite pet store in the world Urban Beast (in Seattle) and it wasn't.  While my favorite store is also a dog boutique it also specializes in the very best things for cats.  It may only be on one table in the back, but they make sure to have the best organic catnip, the best treats, and toys.  Murphy's Paw didn't do this.  The toys and stuff were okay and the corner was tiny.  I felt dejected and like I wasn't a part of this cool club for dogs.
That being said, if you have a dog you will love it.  There are quality dog things for miles and I think that this is something out of dog heaven.  If I had a dog I would love it.

I live around the corner so I stop in quite often, and I must mention that I am usually pretty impressed by the prices. I have actually found a few items that were less expensive than my staple, Pet Food Express, where I do buy my basic necessities. But for Gideon's birthday or nice winter sweater, I did splurge a bit here. As most have mentioned, you pay for quality. I hate dog clothing; however, Gideon begs me to put on the sweaters others have purchased for him, guess he likes to be warm. So I caved and bought him a gorgeous wool sweater this weekend. Excellent quality and not a ridiculous price. It is the thickest sweater we have and will be nice for the very chilly mornings and evenings we have here. Every single staff member has always been over the top friendly and helpful, helps me try on harnesses and Halloween costumes. Once I forgot my poop bags for our walk and I asked for change for a dollar to get one from their dispenser and they just said no, and gave me one to use.
Clearly, I really like this store.  just wish it was bigger. It is cramped for Bark and Brew, which is so awesome. You meet other dogs and feel appreciated as a consumer because they are hosting this party for us!

I really like the products that MP carries. They have interactive puzzle games, high-quality chew toys.. basically everything that has a great reputation with good pet owners.

Their selection of leashes/collars/clothing/accessories is adorable. Their food and treats are all healthy and high-quality.

MP also holds monthly events, like the "Bark and Brew", and they always have a bucket of water outside for thirsty doggy passerbys.

I gave them four stars because the store is REALLY cramped - so much good stuff, but not nearly enough room. I went to a Bark and Brew and it was so difficult to get around all the people, especially when everyone had a dog with them. Also, I know it is a high-end store, but the prices are a little high for my taste.

I stopped by a few weekends ago on a Saturday after the Farmers Market.  This quaint little doggie boutique is a great place for higher end pet products.  Customer service is outstanding however be prepared to pay a premium.  They have a large bucket of water for dogs walking by and offer treats for your pup when you come in!

One cavet to the 5 star review, the items are high-end which does translate to pricey. That said, I'm told they are bring in a selection of less expensive, yet still stylish items.

So we moved to downtown Pleasanton last year. We moved here with our beloved Weimreiner, Chloe. We used to walk her downtown and would stroll in for a free treat (she loved treats!) whenever we could. I wouldn't say we were fans quite yet.

So Chloe is no longer with us, but we spent some time and finally decided on a new member of the family. We are getting a Bergamasco. These dogs have dreadlocks - really. Check out http://bergamascos.net for some great pictures of these rastafarian Italian sheepdogs. We are calling ours Burgie (short for Burgermonster, which sounds like Bergamasco).

Anyway, we have been getting excited and looking for dog things again. So we went in there to pick out a new bed, buy a collar and matching leash, and pick up some dog bowls and random toys. The owner (Melanie, I think she said her name was) was fantastic in helping us. She was extremely friendly, very helpful when making recommendations, and took time to talk with us about our purchases, even when there were people in the store (her other clerk helped them out).

And then she mentioned they have a Yappy Hour, where people bring their dogs in and everyone sits around and drinks wine. This kind of friendly service is exactly why we like to shop local.

To top it all off, she is active in the downtown community. We say that you should shop local and support these types of businesses, those that bring more than just a few products to the area.

This place is great- and I don't even own a dog (yet)! They have a small, but  cute cat section, and the staff is always very friendly.  It is a bit pricey, but it's basically what you'd expect from any boutique.

It's definitely worth a stop-in on a walk in downtown Pleasanton.

This shop is amazing! I love it. I have three dogs, and can seriously find more to buy them there than I can at a huge chain pet store, which is NOT where I wanna shop. This way, I get to shop for my pups in a very gorgeous shop right downtown. If you haven't been here, don't let your dogs know that you haven't. They might think you don't love them :)

Well , with much thanks to YELP, I was able to find this little Gem of a pet shop. I found it to be stocked with a great assortment of goodies, and several great gift idea items as well. Timmi had a nice time barking at a few fellow shoppers, ugh hes a barky little thing. The Lady working the store was very sweet and very helpful .. They have this cute thing where they take photos of the visiting pets which they display in large video picture frames. 3 tries later we got one of Tim looking forward.. I too heard about Yappy Hour, However I think Tim is a little too yappy to join.. So we picked out some tasty treats in a nice tin which he of course loves, we will definitely stop by often. by the way the AREA is super nice, lots of other shops and interesting looking food places. I wish I had more time to visit a few other spots.. anywho enjoy!

Cute little dog boutique in downtown Pleasanton. Even though I work in Pleasanton, I don't spend a lot of time in this area, but driving through Main St. to get here, there's a lot of restaurants to try and this store compliments all the other boutiques on the street.

Good selection of everything for your dog/cat. We were in search of rain boots for Bentley when he needs to do his business outside and they had these disposible/reusable latex boots that look like small balloons for your dog's feet.

Hopefully this upcoming sale will include the dog chew toy that looks like a bottle of Cristal but it says 'CrisPAW'. Shoot, if I can't afford the real thing, I might as well get this one for the dog haha.

I went their over the weekend while they were having a photo shoot for dogs, the proceeds went to the Humane society, huge plus!!! This was my first time, and it is a really nice store, they have alot of odds and really cool ideas for your pets, I do love the jewlery they carry for animal lovers, the only thing that did not call me were the prices, a bit pricey especially in this time of age....im not sure i could spend almost $30.00 on a blanket that could be easily made by just about anyone that can tie a knot. I will recommend this place to anyone that can afford it, as for now im all about bargins!

I love love this new Pet Store in the downtown Pleasanton area.  Opened only for 2 months.  This place is the most adorable pet store in the area....five starts for carrying tasteful plaid leash and collar!!!  Please extend the selection!!!!  I have a plaid obsession!

Melanie the owner was so helpful and gave me a sample of Happytails shampoo (Canine Spa Line located in So. Ca) since they didn't have the whitening powder I was looking for for my Westie.  She even went as far as to call Happytails to ask if they carried something similar!!!!  What great customer service.

I also saw the most chic euro type doggie bed there....around $5 bills!!!!  Check it out, you'll have so much fun in this store!

I love this Place, maybe I am Bias because my mommy work in the building and think the owner is great!

But I also love this place because they make Down Town Pleasanton Pup Friendly.

They have some really great Pet clothing, although my mom wold not normally dress me in Clothes, She ordered me a Security Sweatshirt!  I am hoping to get the one that say "Chick Magnet" for x-mas!

Large assortment of collars, leashes, toys, & beds for both Dogs and Cats as well as a novelty section with some great handmade note cards, or jewelry.

Seriously if you come in they will Take a pic of your pup for the monitor that shows the thousands of doggies that have come into the store.  Make a day of it because to see the 5000 + pics you will need some time!

Love,
Lou-Seal the French Bull Dog

Cute store but pretty pricey.  The store reminds me of a Pottery Barn for dogs.  The staff are very friendly plus they take a pic of every new doggie visitor.  You'll see that pic rotate on a screen in the store.

My schnauzer needs special shampoo and the lady highly recommended a $15 oatmeal shampo.  It smelled good but didn't really work.

This store has been voted "Best Pet Store in Pleasanton" but that's a bit misleading. Its not a "pet store", in the sense that it doesn't actually carry useful things. If you need to get a bag of cat litter and some flea control, this isn't the place to go. But if you want to get a new dress for your yorkie, some poodle shaped earings, or a fancy designer collar, this could be it!

They carry a bunch of toys and accessories for dogs of all sizes but mostly for the smaller/medium sized dog. They have lots of choices on clever collars and it's nice to finally see some sort of animal store in downtown Pleasanton.

i love places that pamper your pup but i have to take away 2 stars for going a little overboard with the doggie clothing. please people there is no need to dress  up your pets in cute clothing. let them have some dignity for pete's sake.

they have many great things for your dog like treats, beds and doggie events but then it gets a little crazy. do you really need to buy your dog jewelry or take them around with you in a carrier or give them a spa treatment?!

i actually miss the good old days of snausages and a bath in the bath tub. seems people are getting a little too crazy when it comes to humiliating fido!

What a great store!  Nice selection of stuff here for all types of dog lovers.  I'm a big dog kind of girl, not really into dressing up teeny dogs in fancy outfits.. but I know there's a big market for that stuff these days and Murphy's Paw has it.  The thing I loved about this store was that it didn't feel like they're catering to those types.  There was a nice selection of different toys, bones, leashes, collars, beds and food that will appeal to all the different types of dog lovers out there.  They even have a little corner of cute cat stuff, too!  A lot of the products are organic, which is a big plus.  You won't find most of this stuff at the chain stores.  Very friendly staff, too!  :)

This place is THE best pet boutique in the entire valley.

They are unbelievably friendly to dogs and their owners.

The "yappy hour" is a great way to make sure your dog socializes  and is not too bad for the owners as well.

Melanie and Mike do a great job.
