I was very impressed by our meal here. I expected basic pub food, but this was anything but.
Our spinach and artichoke dip appetizer was very tasty. It was served with carrots, celery and toasted focaccia. It was a nice change from toasted pita and/or tortilla chips.
I had the Mediterranean quesadilla. The pesto made it somewhat soggy in the center, but it was still flavorful. The cucumber dill dressing that came with it was a nice accompaniment.
My friend had the salmon BLT. I thought the idea of this was great. I never understood just your basic BLT, but add another meat (or fish) and now you're talking! She reported the sandwich to be quite good....as evidenced by her empty plate. The fries that came with her sandwich were crispy and delicious.
Everything was served very hot and they gave us plenty of time between courses. I thought we would be rushed since we walked in less than an hour before closing, but that was not the case.
For what seems like a small town pub, the food here is really quite exceptional.

A classic Boulder joint. Part-Irish pub, part-family restaurant, Murphy's serves up a mishmash of cuisine, from classic pub burgers and deep-fried appetizers to Mexican food and gyros and stir fries. If you go there, definitely try the smallest dessert in town. They're not kidding.
If you're lucky, snare a table on the back patio. The inside is cool, with kitschy trinkets throughout and sports on the tube, but the back patio is like a hidden garden. It's also adjacent to the best tattoo parlor in town, Bolder Ink.

Two words...buffalo burger.
Can you believe I was a vegetarian for 9 years???
I may go back someday, but I love that fact that, of all things, the veggie movement has pushed the meat industry for high quality and healthier meat. I believe that this place is a chain, but it beats going to Chili's or any other crap-ola grease trap out there. Boulder would be perfect if it only had a beach, but it does have perfect burgers.

Not bad - not good either....
Certain people (like me) love good food of any variety including the bar & grill sort. Certain people (like me) swear they're not going to get suckered in by a coupon - but do anyway and then regret it.
We had an OK meal of typical bar food: Caesar salad, chicken wings, penne pasta with "vodka sauce" and chicken, and desert.
Caesar was good lettuce with some sort of bottled Caesar dressing. Waitress looked at me like I was crazy when I asked for anchovy for the salad. Wings were good - hot temp but not quite hot enough on the spice. Pasta, well I should know better, should'a stuck with a burger or a chicken sandwich and fries - but no it was the special and vodka sauce can be great if done right - so I took the big risk and it did NOT pay off. Overcooked pasta in mild sauce, almost bland, with large hunks of canned tomato topped by a tepid piece of tasteless white chicken breast with slight grill marks.
Instantly you experience the "I coulda done better at home with a jar of sauce" feeling.
The place fells good in a "Cheers" sorta way with a big screen TV with sports on it but the service was not up to friendly bar standards. I'm not looking for effusive or jokes, or life stories - just something other than curt.
