There are very pretty tables and chairs set up outside with a view of the Valley.  Here you could purhcase a flight of tastings and they give you a few crackers to go with your sparkling wine.  Service is a bit slow, but they don't pressure you to buy.  After they pour your tastings, they give you the bill to pay inside.  I like their sweet sparkling wine.

They do a free tour which is quite pleasant. Make sure you bring a hat and water, and try to stay in the shade.  It's easy to get a bit dizzy from the intense heat.

There is a nice photo gallery here too, except when I went, part of it was closed, so we only got to see a small portion of the gallery.

I had a less than favorable experience here.  I prefer Domaine Chandon over this place.  Staff were rude to us, there were 5 of us, we called ahead and it  was a rather  unpleasant experience.  Too bad too.  Wines were decent but, with the treatment from the staff it left a bad taste in my mouth.

I always make it a point to come to Mumm as my last stop- its the perfect finale...bubbles n' all. All of the sampling is really affordable with I think $12-14 as their cheapest sample of 4 champagnes (a hefty pour). The servers come to your table while you relax gazing at the lush vineyards- and the whole atmosphere is just laid back.

Except this time we were spoiled rotten by one of the managers on the floor, who came over and gave us complimentary pours of their reserve champagnes. Did you know that Carlos Santana not only has a shoe line but also has his own champagne now? And who knew it would actually be one of the best I had? twas crispy delicious...AND we were given these cute little bracelets with a champagne glass charm. The guy didn't even know it was my birthday- but it was just that extra special treatment that makes you walk away with a permagrin...that and a good buzz.

Great place to come and relax for a while.  I loved the outdoor tables and solarium area.  It was nice to spend some time looking at the photography exhibits and the Ansel Adams collection is nice too.  I didn't do a tasting flight, just purchased a single flute for around $6.  They do free tours several times a day but I was toured out by that point of my trip so I skipped it. I would defnitely return.

So, Mumm is not the maker of my favorite sparkling wine, but they do have beautiful grounds. My favorite district for  wine in Ca  is Stag's Leap on the  Silverado Trail. So, I think Mumm is a great place to stop and have a little bubbly. They have a great patio with a very nice view.
Cheers

I've been a member of Mumm's "Club Vivant" for about six months, and I love it.  I'm going to be quitting soon because it's getting too expensive to keep driving to Napa (and having it shipped is pointless when I can get a bottle for the same price at the wine store down the street), but I'm sad to say goodbye.  I'm not a wine or Champagne expert, but this stuff is good.  I mainly love Mumm because of their tasting room, which is a large, sunny room that looks out onto their beautiful grounds (there's also an outdoor patio).  You sit at individual tables and waiters come around to serve you; they don't stick around, so there's no "mmm, very good, I will not be getting this" moment, which is the only thing I don't like about wine tastings.  When your tasting is over, they give you a bill that you pay at the store (where you can get bottles if you so desire), so all in all it's a totally non-awkward experience.

The tastings can be on the pricey side (one of them costs $25, though for members it's "only" $15), but we've been spoiled as members because several of the tastings are comped.  There's a lot to choose from - you can get one of five or six samplers or a flute of any of their sparklings and stills.

There's an Ansel Adams gallery on the grounds, although you have to walk pretty far into it to see the Ansels (most of the photos are Ansel-esque, but taken by different photographers).  Only downside is no picnics.

Late in the day, Mumm Napa was the last vineyard I visited on my mini-tour of sparkling wine producers. Although the House of G.H. Mumm makes champagne, today would mark my first taste of their California counterpart 's wines.

A short drive from Highway 29 off Silverado Trail, Mumm Napa had a comfortable welcoming vibe. Tours are conducted every hour from 10am-3pm and arriving a bit early, we decided to go ahead with a tasting beforehand.

Mumm Napa had hosted an event for The Napa Valley Mustard Festival the night prior and we enjoyed the shade on the terrace that came from the still-standing tent enclosure. Initially, service was a tad slow with an age-disbelieving worker who hesitated to offer us a tasting. Good to know I still look young!

We started off with the Classic Sampler which included a pour of their bill-paying Brut Prestige, sweet berry flavored Blanc de Noirs, and smoothly aged Blanc de Noirs Magnum.

The next tour was announced and I tagged along with a small group as we made our way through sample vineyards and into the winery for an educational overview of the wine process. Probably the best time of year would be in the fall when the production is actually taking place, not the Spring! Yet we were still able to overlook the facilities and watch a variety of guide narrated short videos.

The tour leaves off at the Mumm Fine Art Photography Galleries which displays a beautiful collection of Ansel Adams' photographs on long term loan for the next two years. Mumm Napa also houses a collection of revolving exhibits year-round, currently the Mustard Festival Photo Finish collection.

After the informative tour, we ventured back to the terrace for round 2 of our Mumm Napa tasting. This time we enjoyed the Reserve Tasting following a long wait for attentive service. The Reserve Tasting includes the Blanc de Blancs 2003, a buttery 80/20 Chardonnay/Pinot Gris mix with a citrus taste and tart finish. The Brut Prestige Extended Tirage is aged 30 months with a light fruity aroma , soft mouth feel and a crisp finish. The Devaux Ranch 2002 was the strongest of the group, aged 5 years. The split Chardonnay/Pinot Gris mix had doughy fruit flavors with a strong lingering finish.

What really made our day was the personal service we received from the tour guide who made himself available in the tasting room after the tour. He came by to answer all of our questions concerning the wines and brought out a few of the classic wines again for taste comparison.

Although the tasting room traffic was relatively light that day, the table service was lagging and inattentive. If it wasn't for our friendly tour guide and the quality reserve tastings, I wouldn't be very impressed. Still, Mumm Napa provides a laid back atmosphere and an array of delicious wines sure to please any palate. It was worth the minor side trip to visit and I'd do it again.

A perfect day in Napa either starts or ends with Mumm.  Seating area is great, beautiful views of the valley.  Sparkling wine is tasty. Great place to take out of town friends.  Love to buy the little bottles, they make smart gifts.

Perhaps I would rate this winery higher if I were a bigger fan of sparkling wine.  Mumm is not short on gorgeous views and tasting options.  My boyfriend conveniently found a 2-for-1 tasting coupon on Mumm's website and one flute was just enough for me; this was my fourth tasting of the day.  The wine itself wasn't so memorable, but it was a nice break from a red wine-heavy tour.

We walked through the photography gallery, which is definitely a good addition to the winery.  While it's particularly proud of its Ansel Adams collection, we only saw a handful hanging on the walls.  Most of the pieces are from other photographers, but they were still very good.

Mumm is a really delightful afternoon - the sparkling wine is a nice change to the standard wine circuit and the staff is kind and very enthusiastic.

As noted below the view from the tasting room is broad and romantic, what napa is all about. Overall, there are some unique vintages to be sampled and it is a wonderful addition to a well-rounded Wine Country Experience.

Note, try to come in late summer during the grape harvest or during the Mustard Festival in March when the mustard flowers are in full golden bloom.

First off, I must say I love champagne, so I was very excited about this winery to begin with. Mumm is known for their sparkling wines. So we did a tour of the winery as well as a tasting afterward. The tour was sort of lame, it was supposed to be an hour long but only ended up being like 25 minutes (thank god, because it was super boring), and there were certain areas of the tour where we were supposed to have seen actual machinery working, but I guess because of the time of year it was not running, so at each location we instead watched a movie about the process. That made me want to go to sleep. Our tour guide said some interesting things about sparkling wines, including recommendations for different wines (all Mumm of course) with meals you wouldn't expect, like popcorn and a movie.

The tasting area was very pretty; it was a big sunlight-filled room that overlooked some beautiful Napa scenery, and we had a menu that listed all the tasting options. We went with some sweeter wines, one in particular called Cuvee M which was delicious and also came in a deep red. I was excited by the color, and a little disappointed to discover that it tasted just like what you'd expect a sparkling red wine to taste like. It was very strong rather than sweet, but still very good and the only sparkling red wine I have ever tried. The only sort of annoying thing was how our tour guide kept trying to get us to join the wine club at the gift store, even bringing us over a brochure about it, but we probably faked an interest a little too well and made her think we really were thinking about joining.

I really loved this place, and I would like to come back and take the tour when the machinery is running, since for some reason I think machinery is super cool and I like to watch it. It is worth it to come if only for the tasting and the beautiful scenery. You might also end up buying some of the specialty champagnes not sold in stores...I did notice however that all of the champagne here was pretty expensive, some bottles were $90, when I seem to recall Mumm champagne being one of the middle shelf champagnes in the liquor aisle at Safeway....but you never know, maybe their specialty champagnes are much much better than the Mumms I have gotten at Safeway. Definitely the Cuvee M and the Cuvee red I can see being very expensive. But it's just funny to me that the wines were so expensive when I remembered buying Mumm champagne at the store for not nearly as much money.

MUMM'S the word.
Get the sampler of three glasses.   Sit down at a table, kick back after
your long day of wine tasting,  enjoy the view and your bubbly.   If you
have the energy,  go and see the art exhibit in the barn,  with champagne in hand, of course.   Find a discount coupon in the local
papers.   Also,  you can take kids here.   It is more cafe-feel than wine
tasting, but it works all the same.   Wish they served eggs or shellfish and we'd be in business.

The sparking wine (guess "Champagne" is reserved for the French) is very solid and reasonably priced.  If you live within an hour of here join the wine club so you can get free tasting for you and 3 friends as often as you'd like.  These tastings are done while seated, which is sooo much better than the "pigs at the trough" approach at other wineries.

They have early tastings so this can be a nice bubbly breakfast to start your day of tasting in Napa!  YUM!    FYI-Safeway has it on sale for like $12 right now instead of $20.

For our first trip to Napa and for our very first wine tasting, Yelp recommended this winery as a dog-friendly one. I thought it was just going to be outdoor seating but they let you bring your dog indoors. Mumm Napa is known for their sparkling wines and that made a big difference. I don't care much for alcoholic beverages so I'm selective about what I drink. The sweeter three set sampler (can't remember the name but it included the Cuvee M) were good and it was only $6. I was expecting a higher price and this is extremely low when other wineries were charging $20 for the same amount of wine. There's a 2 flute limit but the sampler set is already enough. As I stated earlier, I don't care much for alcohol but I'll make an exception for Mumm.

A little on the pricey side, but I think you get what you pay for here.

We came here about mid-way through on our day of wine tasting. It was a great place to stop for a while, relax, sit outside in the sun and enjoy the picturesque rolling vineyard in front of us. They have a small gift shop and do free tours. The schedule is posted at the entrance.

We opted to each get a tasting flight - tiny bubble for me and the classics for my husband, which ended up at $30. Had we joined the wine club we would have gotten a significant discount but we'd already joined one and that was our limit for this trip.

I enjoyed my flight much more than my husband's. My wines weren't overly sweet, but they weren't as dry as his. We asked our server about one of the DVX reserve wines and she offered to bring us a "taste" which ended up being a nearly full glass. I'm glad we didn;t pay for it as I wasn't that impressed for the price.

If you enjoy sparkling wine, or if you want to take a break, slow down and enjoy a gorgeous view on a nice day, this is the perfect spot.

Last summer I visited Mumm with a group of dear friends and had a blast.  We took the tour, which is a bit long if you've gotten a late start (like we had!), but well worth it if you're interested in the wine-making process.  The tour lasted about 45 minutes to an hour, but wasn't overbearing or snooty, so it's a good choice for those who don't know anything about wine making.  Their tasting selections are very reasonably priced and the weather was so lovely we sipped our bubbly out on the patio.  It was VERY windy though, so I suggest women tie their hair back and hold on to your champagne flutes if you happen to visit on a blustery day!

I've never tasted "sparkling wine" before, which is what Mumm Napa is known for. But my friends wanted to wine taste and aren't huge fans of still wine. We heard good things about Mumm, so we came here.

Immediately we saw the beautiful view of the vineyard :) There's also a cute gift shop and tables where you can wait for the next tour to start. COOL thing...tours are COMPLIMENTARY! :) The tour was actually very informative and our tour guide was more bubbly than the sparkling wine. There was also an art gallery filled with beautiful photos of flowers, the vineyard, and other things around Napa. At the end of the tour, we also got pins that allowed us 15% off of wine in the gift shop (:D :D :D). Free tour AND you get a discount? That seems like a pretty good deal to me :)

So we decided to do some sparkling wine tasting following the tour. The prices were a little steep (as I was told by some of the people in my party who were more experienced than I) but we were really curious about the wines after hearing about how they were made on the tour.

Three of my friends and I decided to try two samplers. I forgot the names at the moment, but they included 6 half flutes of sparkling wine. We ordered the DVX (their PREMEIRE wine that they kept raving about til no end "only the BEST grapes are used..." which I think I heard at least 4 times in 45 minutes. One bottle of the DVX is 60 dollars! The other glasses we ordered were the DVX Rose, the Reserve Brut, The Cuvee M, Demi-Sec, and Cuvee M Red (a red sparkling wine!!).

The first we tried was the Reserve Brut. It was FANTASTIC. I wasn't expecting to enjoy anything too much, just because I'm more partial to still wines, but this was really tasty. I don't even know how to explain it (and I won't try because I'm no wine expert) but I recommend that all of you try it. The next we tried was the DVX, the wine that was so highly praised by everyone. It was good, but nowhere near as good as the Reserve Brut. Definitely not worth 60 dollars for a bottle. Next, we tried the DVX Rose, which also had a good taste, comparable to the DVX. Next was the Cuvee M. I actually really enjoyed this. It had a hint of fruit (my friends and I were guessing... nectarine? peach? haha) and it was tasty. Next, was the Demi-Sec. I honestly don't remember a lot about it, so I guess it wasn't that memorable (neither good nor bad). The last was the Cuvee M Red. I was pretty excited about this because I love red wine and it was the only red sparkling wine available. I was greatly disappointed, althought I don't want to discount it completely. I am not a fan of Pinot Noir and this sparkling wine tasted a lot like Pinot Noir. If you are a fan of that, you would probably like it, but I did not.

So overall ranking?
1) Reserve Brut (BY FAR, the best!!! :D)
2) Cuvee M
3) DVX
4) DVX Rose
5) Demi-Sec (questionable, look above)
6) In DEAD last, the Cuvee M Red

After the tasting (which cost around 36 dollars, so 12 dollars each), we went into the gift shop. I bought a bottle of the Reserve Brut for my parents (30 dollars) and bought a mini bottle of Cuvee M for Wilmar D. After purchasing my wine and leaving the gift shop, I realized I didn't use my 15% discount! I went back inside,  a little worried that they would not give it to me or just give me a hard time, but the lady helping me was SO nice about it. She kept saying sorry, even thought it was my fault that I didn't show her my 15% pin, and she was very helpful and happy to give me the discount.

So overall, this is a fun place to go. It's beautiful, the staff is really helpful and friendly, the tours are free and informative, and the sparkling wine is REALLY good. Just bring a good amount of money if you want to taste and bring home some good sparkling wine (COUGH COUGh reserve brut COUGH COUGH) :)

We happened to show up on "A little bit of the Castro in Napa Day".  Well, not officially, but with the Celine Dion dance remixes they had pumping on the stereo system (pumping= we could barely hear ourselves talk) and the abundance of cute, most likely gay boys strutting around, the gorgeous view of the vineyards and rolling hills was the only thing cluing us in to our tranquil wine county location.  To further add to the cultural confusion, we had a group next to us who loudly threw out such classic statements as "Sweden??? That's in Europe, right?" and my favorite, "Does this sparkling Pinot Noir (pee-no no-wa-her?) make good mimosas?"  Oh, tourists!

In short, we didn't do the art tour because there was ample (dubious?) entertainment in the tasting room.  I'll admit that the cheapie in me was a bit put off by having to sit and order glasses or flights like I was in a regular restaurant (yes, I dig free tastings, or at least cheap ones), and actually, our server gave us a bit of the hard sell on joining their wine club... before we'd even sampled the wine!

Again, the view from the seating area was awesome, and a nice glass of the sparkling wine can be a good palate cleanser on a day of sampling in wine... but would I enthusiastically recommend Mumm?  Nope.

Great service, our server was very knowledgable and friendly. The sparkling wine was so refreshing, I bought 2 bottles on our way out.  The only draw back is that they don't offer any food. Don't other wineries do this? What they do offer are these wheat crackers that aren't enough to keep you from getting drunk off of your first flight.  So eat something before you come!

Stop for a flight at Mumm's!

I've been here 3 times.  They have a great outdoor seating area, and sparkling wines that even a non-sparkling-wine-aficionado like myself can enjoy.

The photography gallery is usually great -- be sure to check out the permanent Ansel Adams exhibit.  The rotating exhibit was beautiful the first 2 times I went, great colorful landscapes to offset the Adams b&w.  But last week it was a very cluttered and amateur local competition, oh well.

The tour was really informative and interesting.  They have a cool bottle-rotating robot :-)  The tour guide was good but she could not project her voice at all.  She said our tour was the first time she used the megaphone --  I feel bad for the previous tours!

we went to mumm last weekend as a group for 2 friends' birthdays.  we were told that because we were a group (we had reservations), we had to take the tour and that it would be $20 per person for the tasting.  a little aggressive on the pricing, but fine, because i had been to mumm once before and got a nice flight of 4 sparkling wines to taste for about that much.

wrong!  we ended up paying $20 for ONE GLASS OF SPARKLING WINE that was provided to us during the tour.  we all filed into the tasting room after the tour to begin our tasting, but was told that "the glass we had during the tour was the tasting; $20 please."

oh, and the real tickler is that THE TOUR ITSELF IS COMPLIMENTARY.  so we pretty much paid 20 bucks for one glass of wine.  um...doesn't a bottle of mumm only cost $15?!?!

I came here on Sept. 17, 2005 on one of my annual Chica's wine trips. I know it was a long time ago but I still wanted to share my review with you all since I loved this place.

The tour here was fun. We enjoyed fresh grapes along the way.
We ordered several flight tastings and they were all decent.
The service was informative and pleasant, not snotty.
We enjoyed sitting outside in the patio.
I loved the mini sparkling wine bottles in the gift shop. I of course bought some for my travels.

Mummy, mummy, how do they get the bubbles in the champagne?
Well, little girl, the story started many moons ago in a place far far away called Champagne...

OK, I won't bore you with a summary of what we learned on the 45 minute tour of Mumm winery, but I'll just say it was terrific as we learned so much about champagne. The lady giving the tour was very warm and sweet too.

Their Ansel Adams photo gallery is certainly worth the detour. I just wished we had taken our glasses of bubbly back there as I could have spent an hour watching the amazing photographs.

The terrace is picture perfect to enjoy a nice day over vineyards. I would bring out-of-town friends there as it should leave a memorable experience.

Although entering Mumm made me feel like I'd arrived at an official Marina Field Trip spot, it's worth a stop when you have a group of folks visiting the Valley. The deck is gorgeous, of course, and it's nice to take a glass and view the artwork exhibition hall. My recommendation is to try bubbles that you can't buy in a grocery store.

Tours are offered on the hour from 10a-3p. They have a tasting coupon on their website... and it's currently a 2-for-1 flute offer (Mon-Fri only). http://mummnapa.com/vi...

For my personal taste, I prefer a my wine country to be a little more like a tasting room and less like a restaurant.

First the good stuff.

numero uno: this is one of the most lovely properties in the valley. Heck, this is one of the most beautiful properties anywhere. On an autumn day, with the sun glinting off the burnt edges of the vine leaves, and the rolling hills, you could just kvell from joy. Sometime in the last millenium, my dear friends got married here; I still remember the party fondly.

numero duo: I've been a member of their wine club for about a billion years. I get a coupla bottles of hootch every six months, and with that the privilege to purchase their DVX releases at discount, and free and/or discounted tastings whenever I happen by.

numero three-o: I like sparkling wine, so why the hell not?

Now, it isn't all wine and roses (or wine and wildflowers, more likely): their wine is not my favorite. While the DVX is always outstanding, it is expensive. The other releases range from pretty good to merely indifferent, with an occasional standout (such as the current Brut Reserve release). This is an occupational hazard with the tippliing of California sparkling wine, so I let it slide somewhat. But what really matters is....

It's NICE. The place is, when not overrun, pretty darn friendly. And pretty darn pretty. They pour some tasty wine. They don't make me pay. I can visit and drink some flutes of bubbly while gazing out on some of the greatest beauty in the valley and have pleasant daydreams of my heady wild years back in the good ol' 20th century...

3.5 dreamy reminiscent stars.

I really enjoyed stopping in at Mumm. First of all, they get *huge* points for not only welcoming people's dogs into the tasting area, but also bringing out water bowls (so cutely marked "chateau le chien 2005") and biscuits... as with most self-driven tastings, more than half the time is spent in the car trying to get there, decide where to stop, and getting from place to place, i decided to bring the pup along in the car on my most recent wine tasting afternoon...

so imagine my surprise when i walk in and see another dog in the outside seating, and then moments after we have arrived one of the staff has noticed the dog in my car and invites me to bring him inside.

now onto the wine... not the best i've ever had, but damn good anyways.. we tried the brut reserve, the DVX '99, the blanc de blancs, the demi sec, the DVX '00, as well as the pinot gris, the pinot noir, and the syrah. mumms for sure does better with the sparking wines, though the two still reds were nice... nothing spectacular, but nice all the same... my personal favorites were the demi sec, the DVX '99, and the brut reserve.

i ended up signing up for their wine club, because hey, i got to take home two bottles of the brut reserve and after the member discounts and comps, a $54 tasting charge went down to $26... or if you prefer to look at it the other way, for only $20 more than all the tastings (and full flutes) that we had, i got two bottles to take home in a nice little tote bag...

and did i mention the crackers they give you are damn tasty? they are...

their wine club is one of the cheapest  ($45 for two bottles every other month) and the perks of free flutes or tastings totally makes it worth it.

i'm sure i will be back up there next time i am in the area!

This is on a really lovely location with a little photo gallery (good for shaking off the tipsies after a generously poured flight.) The staff is friendly and knowledgable, and on this most recent visit, our wine server cared enough to ask which ones we all preferred. At $12-$18 for three half-flutes, the tasting prices are fair.

Even the French in-laws were "pleasantly surprised" by the sparkling wine and bought a couple of bottles.

Cute little place. Never heard of it before until a friend suggested us to go. It was kind of a long drive to get up there but getting there was half the fun!

Clean establishment, and friendly/knowledgeable staff. We had a great time!

Here's what mommy like about it first.  She likes the fact that you get a table (inside or out), and they'll bring you a menu of what you'd like to taste, plus the view is nice, oh yeah and she enjoyed the drink too.

This is what I like.

The man that was showing my mommy, aunt and uncle the happy drinks was very nice to my cousin and I.  He brought us ICED water as well as a couple of treats!!!  That was really nice of him, I would've of course loved him more if he brought me steak or something.

First time in Napa! First winery visited was Mumm, known for their sparkling champagne. Their garden  just beside the wine tasting room is beautiful and green. Although, we did not sign-up for the tour, we still found our wine tasting experience at Mumm to be very satisfying and delightful one.

Your choice of seating at any of their tables with umbrellas with a view looking over the vineyard and hilltops is gratifying while friendly and knowledge servers offered great  viticulture facts to their different varietal champagne tasting menus: The classics, Signature Sparklers, the Cuvees.

Per tasting avg per person: $12

The staff here was courteous, friendly and super accommodating.  They also were super knowledgeable and gave us a good briefing on each champagne.  (Though at that time, we just wanted to drink it and didn't care about the history........) We had a table for the 9 of us, and for us to have 2 tastings of champagne, it was $6, each of us, and that included a reserve special.  Both champagnes were good, and came in full size flutes.  In addition, they serve the most amazing crackers along with the champagne.  The line to pay for our tab was ridiculous though and the staff seemed unorganized at the register.  But all in all it was a great experience.

Oh by the way if you are there, call it sparkling wine.  Technically, it's the same as champagne, but you can only call it champagne if it's made from the Champagne region in France.  Just a heads up.

When they decide to close for the day, they are closed, and man are they all business. "We would like to try a glass of sparkling wine, and then probably buy a bottle or two" "Nope. No time. Go buy a bottle over there" "Okay, thank you we'll be leaving now". Yeah, thats how THAT went.

LOVED this winery. This was the hubby's and my first wine tasting trip to Napa. We looked for some good reviews and found this place (which also happens to be pooch friendly) and that's a big plus for us since we wanted to include Benji in our anniversary week plans. We drove up there and were seated almost right away. Benji got a bone but he actually liked our wheat thins better. We got two different samplers; mine was the sweet variety that included CUVE M and he had their classic one which wasn't as sweet. Both of us preferred the sweeter ones though (the one I got) and we really liked the way the Cuve M tasted since I'm a big fan of peach flavored stuff. The price wasn't what we expected (I mean ONLY $6 bucks to taste 3 almost full smaller flutes of wine?!) Their also very hospitable and accommodating since even Benji got his own glass to try a bit of sparkling wine with us (don't worry he only had a lick and seemed to like the CUVE M as well) BTW, I generally only go for sparkly wines or champagne which is why I liked the place so much and of course props to allowing fur babies!

I'm not a huge champagne fan, but I have to say that I love stopping here because the service is good and the tasting experience is laid back. When friends and family are visiting from out of town, I always take them to this place despite my aversion to champagne. Why?

First, there's ample parking in their lot, which is important during the height of the wine tasting season. Second, they have a TON of seating. I think this place has more seating than any of the other gazillion wineries I've been to in California. You can sit outside or enjoy your wine at your leisure inside. The servers are very laid back and totally not snobby. Finally, this place rocks because of its awesome view of Napa Valley. That alone makes it worth checking out.

A nice fun place to go for some sparkling wine!  I'm not expert.. but they  have a lot of selections in different flights.  The atmosphere is more "fun".. so its a nice last stop place to visit on your way out of napa.  I tried my first red sparkling wine there! interesting!!!

DO NOT COME HERE ON SATURDAY, AND PROBABLY THE WEEKEND IN GENERAL.

Mumm Napa produces some lovely sparkling wines, but trying to do a tasting when the place is overrun with groups of 13 hour post-21 girls with princess tiaras and others is not the best way to taste here.  It's probably quieter during the week so I would suggest one to come here on the weekdays if possible.

There are several tasting options to choose from, but they only serve half glasses of the different wines.  My aunt, friend and I decided to each get a glass of a different wine and share.  I ordered the blanc de blanc '01 which was very good.

The service was absolutely terrible.  We were seated promptly however it must have taken almost 10 minutes to get someone to serve us.  We placed our order and soon were served.  I wanted to try the demi-sec in addition to the other wines we ordered, but they brought the check with the three glasses we ordered and pretty much left us alone for the rest of our stay.  The lady was courteous but frank and distant.  Completely unprofessional, so I didn't bother with further patronizing the establishment.

Mumm Napa should have extra staff on the weekends to deal with the crowds.  They tried to provide service to more people with minimal staff.  They know how the weekends are compared to the weekdays and should be able to adjust appropriately.

The tasting area has an expansive and beautiful view of the vineyards.

I snagged a number of the coasters because they have the labels of the different wine cuvees as well as some interesting sparkling wine trivia on the opposite side.

Oh, and you can buy Mumm Napa wines in your supermarkets and stores like BevMo for about 30% less than what they charge at the winery.  I rated this place as pricey since they over charge for their product.

Good wines but crappy service.  I'll update my review if I ever come on a weekday and am able to compare.  I hope I'll have a better experience.  But I think I'll check out Domaine Chandon and Domaine Carneros before I come back.

Wine:
As with most other sparking wine houses, they serve you flights of their wine restaurant-style at a table.  We tried their two club-member flights of champagne, and enjoyed the brut (dry) series a bit more than their sec (sweet) flight.  We especially liked the Reserve Brut, and ended up joining their club, which waived the tasting fee on the two flights, and also gave us two bottles of the Reserve Brut (which we combined, +$5, to get one magnum, yay!).

Winery:
Wonderful winery, great location - except for the barren plot of land where beautiful vines should be growing!  Ironically, none of their grapes are grown on-site!  Their tour is nice: We loved seeing the different varietal vines in the demonstration vineyard (and tasting some of the grapes too!), but the rest of the tour ends up being a bit commercial.

I'm not a champagne fan but on a tour of wineries, this spot breaks it up and offers great patio views and some good bubbly as well.  Me mum, is a member of mumm, and loves it.  I've heard that it gets busy so plan accordingly depending on the day you go.
