The food? We would rate our weekday lunch,  Grade "B".

This is a heavy tourist spot, and the food is pretty average.   Not bad, not great!

It's all about location here. That is the part that is excellent, the falls are spectacular!

Meanwhile back at the restaurant...

My garden salad was a...  B+
My Trail Burger with fries was a...   B
Colleen's Turkey Sandwich with fries... was an A
Colleen's Chicken Tortilla soup... B

The bill was $28

A choice of a fruit cup rather than french fries would have been cool, but it was "nice."

We had been turned away a couple of weeks earlier.  We arrived for lunch at 2:15pm, on our way back to Portland, but were told that "we're in the process of switching from our Sunday brunch to the dinner service. So, there will be a 45 minute wait til 3 o'clock arrives."

Which seemed to us to be, bad service.

The gift shop is just what you would expect, T-Shirts, shot glasses, postcards, trail books, posters, and all the usual stuff.

I have been here twice now and liked it both times....though I really ordered standard fare. I am a two eggs, bacon and hashbrowns kind of gal. If you don't screw that up I am all yours. So aside from the bacon being deep fried (horror of all horrors) it was really good. The biscuts there are amazing as well....so layered and fluffy....plenty of room to add butter to them! I like that you can see the falls from the window too if you are sitting in the main room in the atrium. We seem to sit by the window that looks out at the parking lot, but that is not my choice but my hubby"s....all told it is a yummy breakfast place and I will be going back yet again as soon as possible. :-)

OK - I like the food here. They could fancy it up a bit more. The paper placemats are kind of lame and they always seem to want to steer you towards a crappy table in the corner and you have to ask for a good table by the window. I've never had anything besides breakfast here and I'm not sure if I would.  It's like this great old lodge place that feels kind of dead inside, like it's waiting for someone to kick it back to life. It seems a place like that with hundreds of tourists ouside almost constantly would be packed - but it's not.

Also, I really do not need the vegetarian waitress getting a sneery with me when I ask about a dish preference between corned beef hash or biscuits and gravy. A simple, "I don't know, I'm a veggie - but the xxx is popular", would have been perfect. You decided to blather on about how there's MEAT in those dishes and you have CHOSEN to NOT EAT MEAT. This made us uncomfortable and your tip significantly smaller.

Go work at the co-op, hippie.

Oh yeah, the waterfall is super neato

We had a fantastic breakfast here on our way to the airport after stopping at the falls.  Attentive service and a lovely set of rooms.  The huckelberry pancakes and coffee were great!  Not that I'll ever be in the area again, but I'd highly recommend it!

Over the weekend, I climbed up to the top of Multnomah Falls for the second time in my life.

We got up early in the morning (7am), had breakfast at Tin Shed at a time when there was no wait (8am), ran an errand for a few hours, and went shopping at Woodburn for several hours. Basically by the time we reached the falls (5pm), we were famished. We were in dire need of food and energy, so we stopped into the Lodge.

We were selecting from a menu of about 10-12 entrees. Some of them seemed to be Asian fusion-type dishes, which was a little surprising. Three of the four individuals in the party ordered prime rib, and one ordered salmon. Surprisingly, the smaller-sized portion of the prime rib cost about the same as the salmon, and the "Falls Size" portion was just a few dollars more. All three of us went for the upgrade. AND ordered a poke salad. All dinners were large in portion and accompanied by bread and either soup or salad. Lots of food (which was actually quite tasty), lots of energy.

One even said, "This salad tastes sooo good, but probably because I am starving!"

Service was a little slow because they were setting up for a wedding party in one of the sections of the restaurant, but our glasses were always refilled. And so thanks to the Lodge, we made it up to the top the waterfall and back before the sun went completely down.

[My mouth is getting better.  After all, I survived a Prime Rib dinner... Medium Rare!]

We stopped by the gift shop after visiting the infamous Falls but found the store to be very crowded so we left shortly but we did buy the swirl ice-cream to share after reading other reviews however, it was somewhat disappointing. It wasn't at all creamy and somehow had some watery taste to it. I was imagining to be creamy, milky swirl so I ended up throwing it away. Sigh. :(

I have been to this place for dinner and for a wedding hosted there.  The food is pretty tasty and well prepared.  It was a wonderful setting for the wedding.  The price for the fare is a bit on the spendy side and the dress is a little above casual, so I would recommend this place for special occasions.

The falls are a great place to go visit while you're there, but bring a jacket because it's usually a little bit chilly most of the year.

I think someone puts a meat scented essential oil in the falls because it smells so good and probably entices people to eat at the restaurant.

We didn't eat anything but did check out the gift shop.  Everything is tourist priced.  I wanted to get some postcards but they were 1.50$ each and not that nice.  I found some cheaper and nicer postcards at another gift shop down the road.

I have yet to actually stop into the restaurant, but I've been to the waterfall many times now and it never ceases to amaze me.  It's so incredible to see this beautiful site at any time of the year.  It's not too far out of town so it's a definite must see for anyone out of town visiting.

Be prepared to be sprayed with mist and get a little chilly when you're near the water though.  I always forget, and it's one of those times I loathe wearing glasses.

Ps.  How hard is it to stock the bathroom with toilet paper?  Disappointing.

who cares if it's touristy--this is the perfect place to go if you're looking to get out of town, and outside. Beautiful views, scenic hikes, and the 2nd highest year-round waterfall in the nation! You can't beat this.

Check out Skamania Lodge for a beer and scrabble--it's only about 20 minutes north up the highway and over "Bridge of the Gods" (I'm not kidding.)

A neat place to stop for food on a scenic drive. The vistas from the restaurant are wonderful.
