I was looking at some apartments in the neighborhood and everyone I spoke with said it was working checking out this place.
So, if you have been to the neighborhood, you realize quickly that competition is rather low as there is nothing around there really.
However, it does not detract from the charm of this place at all. It is very well built and thought out through and through.
A great beer, wine and liquor list and some good traditional Irish/American food.
We got a couple of seasonal beers along with some Guiness lamb stew and fish and chips.
Everything was excellent and the portions were enough to take some home if we wanted.
The atmosphere was very nice as well.. A large place with an upstairs.. dark with a lot of hardwoods..
Also, a very nice stone fireplace towards the front.. could be a great place to grab a beer and a book and just relax in the winter rain..
All said and done.. a bit over $35 for 2 meals and 2 beers.
5 stars for the burger. Get it with bacon and bleu cheese. It's perfect. I also like the mahi wrap if I'm trying to eat something healthier.
Decent beer selection. Service is usually pretty good, although sometimes it can be distracted. I wish it was quieter inside. The outside patio is a great place to sit on a sunny day, especially on a weekend or later in the evening when there's less traffic on Dravus.
Seriously, though. Eat the burger.
I've been a somewhat regular patron of Mulleady's since I lived a block away, back when it was in its original location across the street from it's current home. When they relocated to the new building, I was leery of how well the transition would go, especially since they lost the back yard beer garden.
Many of the original fixtures found their way upstairs in the new place, and the legendary bathtub-sized urinal found its way into the men's room, so they managed to retain a good bit of the old charm in addition to the shiny, clean downstairs dining area. Upstairs is better suited for hanging out and playing cards over a few pints, while downstairs feels more like a restaurant and is nice enough for a casual date.
The food selection is very well-rounded, especially considering their primary option used to be ordering takeout from Romio's next door, and it has a very good selection of both the expected pub grub (the fish and chips are quite nice) and healthier fare (the mahi wrap is also very tasty). The tap options are pretty standard for a Seattle Irish pub, and the prices are generally pretty reasonable.
This really should be a four-star review. And yet, I find myself struggling to give it three.
The primary thing that really keeps me from suggesting Mulleady's as a more regular destination (apart from now having to cross the Ballard Bridge) is the customer service. More specifically, the consistency thereof. Sometimes the service is spot on: attentive, friendly, and prompt.
Other times, it's quite the opposite. It's not uncommon to be sitting at a table near the bar with an empty glass while waitstaff repeatedly pass by empty-handed and avoiding eye contact with you.
Or, to be sitting with a stack of closed menus, ready to order food, and have nobody in sight to actually take your order. Or worse, have someone stop by and say "Oh, you're ready? I'll send your waiter/waitress right over." and then continue to sit there.
If you're not in a hurry or as picky about customer service as I seem to be (and by picky I mean I like to have some), Mulleady's is a great Magnolia establishment, and generally serves the pub needs of the Interbay/Queen Annex area quite nicely, but it definitely leaves a lot of room for improvement when it comes to actually serving the needs of its customers.
We stumbled across Mulleady's after Discovery Park this evening. It was either work out or pub and pub won! A friend recommended this place and mentioned that the food was great. I know, Irish and great food??? Yes indeed!
After savoring a Jameson's on the rocks we decided to split everything amongst the table. Interestingly enough, all of the sides sounded amazing so we started with Charred Green Beans w/ Figs & Satsumas, Mac & Blue Cheese, Wilted Spinach w/ Garlic Confit and Balsamic Roasted Beets w/ Parmesan. We then moved to the front of the menu and ordered the Blackberry Honey & Chevre Fondue w/ Rosemary Toasts and Balsamic Treacle and finished our order off with Aran Islands Shepherd's Pie. Oh my. Not a bad dish in the entire bunch!
The charred green beans had a wonderful flavor and were complemented perfectly with the figs. Didn't taste the satsumas, but they honestly weren't needed in the dish. The mac and blue cheese was passed around and then everyone kept an eye on the location of the small dish it came in, eyeballing it to make sure they got second tastes. I'm pretty sure I saw one of our party licking the dish clean. The spinach was done perfectly - not too soggy with a nice touch of garlic flavor. The beets were nicely done with a generous coating of Parmesan. Another standout of the evening was the fondue - good lord, I think we would have bathed in it if only the dish were a little less shallow. The rosemary toasts provided a perfect foil for the sweet yet savory fondue. The shepherd's pie was also a winner, with a crisped top crust of potatoes and a savory, let-me-have-the-last-bite meaty center.
We enjoyed ourselves tremendously and our server couldn't have been nicer nor more accommodating. We'll most definitely be back soon!
I fell in love with Mulleady's as soon as we entered last week! Amazing beer, great food, and awesome lively atmosphere. We stopped by Mulleady's after a round of golf at Interbay looking for some brews and dinner. We certainly found both of those. We found parking a couple blocks from the restaurant and scurried down the street to find a really nice outdoor patio with people just relaxing and drinking a beer on this warm but breezy Friday night.
We had no problems finding a seat inside and opted to sit near the window to get some of that bay breeze. We were quickly approached by our server who asked what we'd like to drink. I immediately noticed 2 great beers on tap that I haven't seen on tap in a while (2 Beers Blonde and Big Sky Summer Honey).
We ordered the duck fat roasted almonds appetizer and boy was it amazing. The orders among the table included the veggie burger which was handmade (non of that frozen from the store kinda stuff) and the Shepard's pie. All of our meals came out quickly and were just spectacular. I also really liked how the menu has lots of food choices at many different price points. Sometimes you just want an $8 sandwich and you could certainly get that here. But if you want something more, there were several entrees that were $10 but came with a lot more food. I can't wait to come back here!
You're going to stumble on this place and go, whoa, when did they open up a bar in this guy's house?. It really is, honestly, in the middle of a residential neighborhood.
Once you get here, you'll want to stay. Or, at least come back another time during operating hours to have their Mahi Mahi wrap. Or their Bleu Mac n' Cheese. Or maybe it will be the jukebox selection of pure 80s gold that will call to you. For sure it will be their beer selection you need to revisit. Again. And again..
Whatever the subliminal message you receive from the great beyond, it will be sent from a friendly bartender and a totally on top of it cocktail server.
So order the bangers and mash already.
My friend Kathleen and I recently went for a hike through Discovery Park and decided to come to Mulleady's afterward to stuff our faces. Sincere props to our friend Becky who recommended them, because they make one of the best burgers I have ever tasted.
I need to give a special shout out to our friendly server Sunnie, whose disposition was... well... sunny. She never seemed to be too far away when we needed another drink, she had some helpful ordering advice for us and was able to accommodate Kathleen's special request (she prefers her bacon burnt to a crisp).
What makes their burgers so divine? A perfectly prepared patty (not too greasy, not too dry), caramelized onions, a topping called tomato jam (like ketchup but sweeter), and for a few dollars more bacon or your choice of cheeses (including my favorite, gorgonzola). All this served on a toasted "artisan" bun with your choice of sides. I had the french fries, which were crispy and golden. Kathleen had a side salad of fresh seasonal greens with walnuts, chevre and a vinaigrette--a not uncommon combination, but perfectly executed and delicious. I highly recommend this as a healthier alternative to the fries.
The exterior looks a little plain, but the interior is very classy with fine woodwork and high ceilings. An upstairs seating area rings the restaurant and there's a small patio area too. The bar is gorgeous and I saw many of my favorite liquors are available. I didn't try any cocktails, but given the quality of food and service I imagine they pour an excellent drink. They've got a great jukebox too--we heard all kinds of music, from Jurassic 5 to Led Zeppelin.
The biggest drawback is the parking situation. The bar is in a residential area with limited street parking. Kathleen and I found a spot a little over a block away though, and the extra five minutes and short walk was worth it. So stay calm and don't sweat it, because you're in for a treat.
As far as Irish Bars go, this one has to be one of the best. The food here is delicious, much better than normal bar fare. The mahi wrap was great and their fries and burgers are delicious too. The bartenders are really nice and there is quite a bit of seating.. Good beer selection too.
From the outside Mulleady's looks like another divey Irish pub but as you enter you are welcomed by lots of spacious seating, nice hardwood floors, an open ceiling complete with balcony and upstairs seating and a clean, classy looking bar/restaurant.
One thing that my beau and I wanted to experience from our trip to Seattle was the local brews. We are big into Portland beers and thought we would like to see what type of guns Seattle had. Mulleady's gave us plenty of options for local beers and foreign as well. Maybe a few too many options, if you know what I mean.
The food was great and the french fries tasted fresh, though I am not sure if they were. We started with mussels sautéed in butter and white wine that were practically jumping out of their shells! I then had a mahi mahi wrap that I so darn good; the cabbage was still all crispy despite the piping hot fish. Everyone's plates and pints we cleaned and emptied!
The bad thing is that I got a little discouraged walking down such a steep hill knowing I had to walk back up. Though the good thing was that after a bunch of beers I didn't care!
I have to update my 4 star rating to a 5 star rating after my last visit. Service was great and the food was even better. Waiter didn't even charge us for a drink that he recommended and we didn't like. Above and beyond what was expected.
Don't miss this interbay gem.

Why oh why did I waste so much of my time NOT coming here? I live less than a mile away and am sad that I didn't find this gem sooner.
The first visit was for just drinks in the upstairs bar. We were quickly greeted and served our drinks. Then the bartender brought us complimentary duck fat roasted almonds which were amazing. Once talking with him more about their liquor list he says he'll purchase one whiskey for us if we try two... Why not, right? Friendly, jovial, clean atmosphere. A great first experience.
We've been back many times. The mahi wrap is my favorite and the fish and chips are awesome. The food is consistently good if not great. The pours are strong and the selection is varied.
This is not your average hipster bar... it's more adult oriented and it's just a great place for drinks, food and a non sceney bar. The upstairs bar is also great for large parties and private events.
Also for you gents, check out the huge urinal, I guess it's quite the experience.
We love Mulleady's Irish Pub!
My boyfriend loves the whiskey, Harp on tap, and the Mulleady's burger.
I love the Mahi Mahi wrap! It's fresh, full of flavor, and just plain super delicious.
In other words, we LOVE Mulleady's Irish Pub!
I am sorry to downgrade this place another star, especially since it is mostly my fault, but I can hardly think of the place right now without feeling sour. Those $10 gift certificates we purchased v. a cover on St. Paddy's day? They expired after 30 days...11 days ago. My fault, it does say it on the card...beneath the messy illegible signature. And apparently there were signs... behind the completely packed house. And even though the guy at the entrance said we could use them any night but tonight, that is not the signed contract of the card. But this topped with us calling about quiz night and hearing that it might be $5 a person OR $5 a team, plus the defensive reaction of the waitress when we asked about the $10 card, plus being misdirected by a waitress on our first trip- this just isn't looking like the nice little neighborhood place we first thought it would be.
The atmosphere is still fairly cozy. An Imperial pint of Red Menace for $4.50 (up to 7 dollars for some extra fancy) is decent considering the size. But just like last time where I paid the $10 cover for 10 min of uncomfortable touching of strangers - I left unhappy. And that means I probably won't be back.

A wonderful nice Irish Pub. My brother lives just a block away, so you can come out on a Saturday night, and stumble home!.
We had some Irish beer, and I had the Mulleady's Burger with caramelized onions, it was very good. I like the feel of the spot as well. The fries were pretty good, and the salad that came with the burger, it was a goat cheese and walnut salad, was very flavorful.
Swung by here for happy hour with a friend and I was SO pleased! They have great food and drink for their happy hour... I also hear that they have stellar dinner (which would accurately reflect the tasty appetizers at happy hour).
I did see a mom and a dad in there, desperate for some alone time with their daughter. They brought the portable DVD player and headphones, ordered her the Mac & Cheese, a VIOLA... they had their daughter in a trance. So maybe this place is indeed family friendly... ??
Two level pub. This isn't a sports bar, so you should look elsewhere to watch the game...
Upstairs you have a full bar, darts and foosball. Downstairs you have a full bar, patio and the world's largest urinal is in the men's room. Mulleady's Irish Pub is worth the trip for that alone...
The food is excellent, but it's one of those places that got ruined for me. I ordered the mahi wrap upon a recommendation from a friend, and now I can't order anything besides that! It really is that good. I wish I could try the rest of the menu, but you know how it is...
It can get very busy on Friday and Saturday nights, in which case things take a little longer than usual. But usually service is prompt and friendly.
Very nice atmosphere, down to earth people and it's pretty much the only pub in Magnolia worth mentioning. All this for the right price. A great place to impress your out of town friends, or to just kick back and have a mahi wrap to your face hole.
Mulleady's Pub is a cozy spot with a warm atmosphere. It's a nice place within walking distance from where I live in (Internolia :P) and pretty much the only nightlife option in a 4 block radius worth mentioning. I've always been made to feel welcome at Mulleady's. No hype, no pretense, just a down-to-earth neighborhood pub.
There is a decent selection of beers, including something seasonal that usually contains a ridiculously high alcohol content. Most of their beers are on the IPA, hoppy, stouty, or full-bodied side. Stella Artois seems to be the only option on tap if you're looking for a pint of something lighter, but that's about the only thing negative I have to say about the place.
The grub is very good, too.
There is one freak-show feature of this public house that truly bears mentioning, even if only 50% of the readership can actually experience it: there is a GIGANTIC urinal in the men's room. There is enough porcelain in this one urinal to make 16 regular sized toilets. If there were a nuclear blast in downtown Seattle, you could take shelter in this thing. I am not kidding. See (pee?) for yourself. They really should be marketing that thing as some sort of road-side attraction - Bearded Lady, Lizard Boy, Giant Urinal. Okay, I'll stop now...
I went to Mulleady's after a softball game in Magnolia and wasn't expecting much more than typical irish treats and lots of fried bar food. However, I was pleasantly surprised by the Blue Mac & Cheese and the steamed muscles! This place is a treat! The food is great, I'm a fan of the buckets of beer , the ambiance is A+ and our server was polite and attentive. I'll be back!
PORK BELLY. EAT IT-YUMMY!!!
Great food for a sweet price. Pork belly entree and bunch of other stuff is something like $13 and the drinks are pretty cheap, too. I have no idea why they don't charge more but I think it might be because they are cool people.
Warning: Charred green beans are dangerously good. Get them with mashed potatoes on the side and the beer sauce.
Pub crisps are OK, just average chips. However, the lentil salsa that comes with them will play with you tongue like a cat with a mouse. It is superb.
All right, I could continue raving about this place, but you just need to go there for yourself.
So I went back to Mulleady's for the recommended pork belly. Again, I encountered delightful waitstaff and great beers. The porter braised pork belly was tasty (bit of a ridiculous portion size, I couldn't consume that much pork fat in one sitting and I love the stuff) but the apricot tart that went with it was totally inedible. It was so full of, thyme I think it was and maybe caraway? and dried apricots that were, well dry, that just one bite was enough to just about put me off of the pork belly too. I found myself totally jealous of the burger and reuben that were ordered by the other two I was eating with. Oh Mulleady's, I so want to love you, I really do.

I'm updating my Mulleady's review. Look, I come here all the time. It is inconceivable that I would keep going to somewhere that gets three stars.
I often eat their Bangers and Mash - and I often love them. They make me a mean martini. They know who I am.
So, I update my review. I give one more star. And I affirm that I love the place.

This place was a blast on a Wednesday night with the band Spare Rib smashing it up! A friend told me about the band and I thought I'd only enjoy that, but the pub was great. There were all ages (and I mean ALL, wee things and old things and all us tweeners). The music was good and the food was great. I had a caesar salad and a raspberry-honey drenched, baked goat cheese with tostinis. Daaayyyyuuuummm! That was seriously good, better for sharing, and could be considered desert.
Prices were decent, staff was friendly and so were the customers. I'll be back again for sure.
I've been to Mulleady's a few times as it's down the road from my house. I'm always delighted that they have a small but decent variety of non-Guiness dark beers. Even better, they're from PacNW breweries. Last night, I enjoyed Iron Horse's Quilter's Irish Death.
We came with a large group and it was the first time I sat upstairs. This left me feeling a bit off; it doesn't feel as warm and inviting as the downstairs table area. Still, we have a WONDERFUL bartender (who's name escapes me). She put up with the millions of questions from our group with a smile.
Everyone enjoyed their food; I had the Goat & Greens salad and the Crispy Flatbread w/Seasonal Toppings. I really dig that they have half-size salads as that's all I can eat. I've had the Goat & Greens before and it's a perfect balance with crunchy, sweet and savory. I had a hard time placing some of the topping for the flatbread; it was an interesting blend for the sauce part. I thought the sunflower seeds were a cute addition. The only bad part about it was that it has spent too much time under the broiler so was a bit burnt. Still, it was nummy.
Our awesome bartender was a peach when breaking out our check so we could pay separately. She got everyone's right on the nose with no fuss at all.
I'm not sure it's a good place for large groups, but I do like the intimate setting of the pub in general.
I might give a 5 star after a confirmation visit. We truly enjoyed the porter braised pork belly with apricot/cabbage tart and the added side of blue mac & cheese. We started off with the duck fat roasted almonds and mussels. Mussels smelled a litle fishy and there were a few beards left on some of them. Irish soda bread doesn't quite go with the sauce. Very cool interior and neat upstairs area with couches, darts & foosball. Parking a little difficult. But will definitely go back again just for the blue mac & cheese.
I have to say I was hesitant to head to Magnolia for a Saturday night gathering and I had never heard of Mulleady's. But it was "St. Practice Day", two days before St. Patty's, so Mulleady's seemed like it could fit the bill.
Well, I loved it. Two floors, each with its own fireplace (there is nothing I love more than a Guinness in front of the fire in a cozy pub), tons of seating including church pews, two dart boards, a foosball table, two happy hours, a little band stand downstairs and a dance floor. I just can't think of a thing you could add to that list to make it any better.
Then I looked at the menu and it got better. In addition to breaded and fried pub items of all kinds, including Irish-ish things, they have salads which you can add salmon to! I asked the waitress what the soup of the day was, and when she said lentil/spinach/chickpea, I about hugged her. Is that weird? Anyway, I had that with a spinach salad (which came with a cheddar and bacon shortbread cookie. Next time I am going to just ask for a whole plate of those), and it was so good.
The crowd was also great. At one point, a young gal with a fiddle just stood up and started playing. It seemed impromptu but I don't know many people who carry their fiddles around just in case, so it must have been pre-meditated by Mulleady's. She played a few times throughout the night. Downstairs, the coolest rockabilly band played, and all these beautiful gals and guys with slick, piled up hair danced.
It is going to be hard to go straight home from work, having to pass by Dravus St and knowing Mulleady's is there... with their fireplaces... and their Guinness... and their bacon cheddar cookies.
I live only a few blocks from here, so I eat (or more accurately...ate) here semi-regularly. The service has never been what I'd call "good" or "friendly", but it's gotten so bad lately that the last two times I've been there, I've seated myself (per instructions on the sign at the front) and been left waiting, and waiting...and waiting. I've even made eye contact with more than one server, but not received so much as a "be right with you". 15 minutes later, I'm outta there. Happened twice now, so I'm done with them.
Good food though. The Mulleady burger is actually really good, and my wife loves the Mahi wrap.
My roommate used to work here.
I have to say that it is very cozy, and the frites are yummy too. It was the only place we could find on St. Patty's day that didn't clear out it's tables. Although it got rowdy in there, it didn't turn into a club, so I have to commend them for that.
Though this place seemed warm and relaxing when it first opened, the environment has changed since the tvs were added and the same slow, unfriendly dark-haired female server with the sour expression still works there from the grand opening.
Plus the quality of food has gone down. In the beginning the Lamb Stew and Chicken with roasted vegetables were delightful. Now I drive past on my way to eat in Ballard or Queen Anne.
Mulleady's has been my home away from home since I moved to Seattle in 2002. I have to admit, I miss the old, original divey Mulleady's and I miss Dave Mulleady's crazy antics.
HOWEVER, I so so love the new pub too. It's just gorgeous with its dark wood and fireplaces. Super cozy place to settle in and have food and cocktails. All of the servers are friendly and attentive as well.
My only beef with this pub is the pricing. Some of the items on the menu strike me as a little expensive for what you get. Small complaint though, considering I love everything else about the place.
Update to review: They've added all sorts of tasty sounding treats to their menu...can't wait to try some of them out!
P.S. Don't forget to stop in for Monday night trivia. Henry's very entertaining!
After two years of not seeing a friend we realized we were both living in the greater Seattle area and decided to meet up for drinks, after a dicussion the week before about our mutual desire to find a good Irish-type pub (because it is my belief that the real thing only exists IN Ireland ;))he met at my place and off we went. Yelp led me to Mulleadys, and we were fabulously impressed with it. Easy to find, essentially in the middle of a residential area, here sits this quaint little pub. We had dinner while we caught up: he tried the shepard's pie, which I sampled and it was amazing. I wasn't much hungry so I just got the pub chips w/ the lentil salsa. I wasn't so sure how I felt about lentil salsa, even as someone who Loves lentils... I adored it.
Our server was wonderfully attentive, kept an eye on us and made adequate recommendations on both beers and eats. They had a decent selection of great beers and we did sample a few. We will definitely be back because we have since decided that our mission is to find the best pub in Seattle. Mulleady's you're on at the top so far!
s'always nice when the owner let's you know that no, you aren't crazy, and that yes, things have changed. i'll give it another shot, and given the chance, buy the owner a drink. i love level-headed, even-keeled business folks.

I agree with Mel R., plus I have two haikus to add to the reviews:
Call me crazy yet...
Can walk here, great beer, food, I
Won't go anywhere else.
Is it Irish...no
Sea-town modern, plus Lodge-ish...
Thoughts of French Quarter...
One of two bars mere walking distance from my pad. I've been in a handful of times. I like it the interior, nicely done with lots of old world charm, an upstairs and a fireplace. I've only sampled a few items off the menu: the hummus plate and a grilled cheese, both were good. They have wifi and plenty of tv's to watch euro football. On good days there is a fenced off outdoors seating area. The drink prices seem comparable to other bars.
Overall, I give this place 4 stars. The extra fancy HUGE 5th star is for the sheer fact that they have Carlsburg on tap! Do you know how hard that is to find? Hard. Any who, I love my cheap English piss beer.
this place is a step up from your normal pub fare, i think they have seasonal specials in addition to their stellar menu. I personally think their halibut and chips are TO DIE FOR, not greasy at all, just perfect! I've also nibbled at a few of their sandwiches and so far am very impressed. Their drinks are moderately priced and last fall they had Night Owl on tap! I've also noticed a few liquor specials (basil infused vodka, things like that) bottom line this place is a wonderful cozy neighborhood spot! it almost feels like you're at someones (really nice and big) house. If you're in Magnolia want a drink but are sick of the normal pub fare come check Mulleady's out you'll be pleased.
Even when this was in its first space, a half block down Dravus, it was a cozy, freindly local pub. It was also a lovely perk to live around the corner from it. Buuuuuuuuuut I don't live that close anymore and I haven't been here since they relocated. That is until St. Patrick's Day.
What an immense joy and pleasure to find this place is bigger and better. The staff was till extremely pleasant and Dave, one of the owners, can always be see out and around the pub, pulling taps for Black Velvets (Guinness and Cider), grabbing a sandwich f(Grand Central bakery bread) for a patron, or just quickly chatting you up while he tidys up.
I'm also very excited that I can bring my daughter here now. Kids are welcome until 9pm. With the dark, dark wood and the two floors the true Irish pub feeling is made whole by the fact that my entire family can come here now.
Sometimes what sells a place to me isn't the food, the service or the atmosphere - it's the folks who hang out there. And that's what I've liked about Mulleadys.
Not the typical Irish pub fare - which is a treat, they do have the typical Irish pub drinks.
Magnolia is off the beaten track - but it's worth the trek.
Uli's bangers and mash with a pint of Guiness has got to be the most honest meal after a long days toil in the salt mines.
Guiness, being natures most perfect food, washes down the comfort of mums mash while the protein from these amazing bangers replenishes your tired, achy muscles.
*wipes tear from partly Irish/partly green eyes*
This place is nice, the staff is nice and it's a block from my house.....
and as sad as this sounds, this place was fun last Christmas!
An awesome local pub with the general American friendly fare. But as other folks have attested, the mahi mahi wraps are bomb. Yes, I said "bomb."
The service is always friendly, but sometimes not the most timely...
It still is a perfect addition to Interbay area and I come often.
I'm not quite sure how to rate Mulleady's.
I mean, I certainly go here a lot. There's nothing offensive about it. The drinks are reasonably priced and well made. The food is a step above average. They have plenty of seating and a comfortable atmosphere (music volume is a recurring theme in my bar/pub/club reviews). But there isn't really anything about it that pushes it one way or another.
What I'm saying is, I'm never the one to suggest it, but then, I don't vote against it either.
Probably its best attribute in my book is the location. Right off 15th. Sort of between Magnolia, Queen Anne and Ballard. It's rather convenient among our group. On the flip-side, my biggest knock against it is the kitchen hours. I haven't quite figured out when it's open and I always find myself hungry with no in-house option. This invariably leads to, "Is Romeo's open?" "I don't know." "What about Pagliacci's?" "Well, there is an AMPM right down the street." etc. etc.
And yet, we always end up at Taco Bell.
I've been in Seattle for over 4 years now, and i have to say, this is the closest thing I've seen to a legit Irish pub since moving here from the east coast (and I've been to MANY)...it was even recommended by a litlle ol'Iirish lady i know. I'm not sure what other people think of when they think Irish pub in America, but this place is pretty much it - dark ornate furniture (specifically the bar), deep cherry floors, leather bound menus, Irish food & drink...
the menu is a mix of typical pacNW pub fare - penn cove mussels, halibut fish & chips, blackened salmon sandwich (this isn't the appeal though) - mixed with traditional irish which is listed in their "hearty fare" portion of the menu. Bangers & Colcannon, County Longford Lamb Stew, Aran Islands Shepherd's Pie, and to wrap up with Guiness Ice Cream for dessert?
In my opinion, THIS is the reason you go to an Irish pub.
The price was great, the portions were perfect, the atmosphere was fantastic, the service was the best I've had in a while in Seattle.
I'll definately go again.
