I have been frequenting Mulleady's for years and years now.  Love it here!  Start with the atmosphere:  I love the dark wood and dim but ample lighting.  There's also a fire  place for the winter, and a small patio area for the summer.  The upstairs bar and dining area allow for more space, and is a great place to hang out.  Mulleady's is family-friendly in the dining area until 8pm or so, then it's 21+ for the rest of the evening.

The food they serve these days is AMAZING.  The menu is seasonal and fresh, and they come up with some DELICIOUS items.  they had housemade pickles for awhile which were outstanding, and the goat and greens salad is always a classic for me.  I love going for happy hour and sharing small plates with friends.

There's always a great selection of beers on tap, a wine list, but I usually gravitate towards the cocktails.  They have some incredible ones!  They also rotate these seasonally, and i've yet to have a cocktail i didn't like.  The bartender is fantastic, and he's great at suggesting cocktails to try.

If you haven't checked out Mulleady's yet...do!  It's worth it!

Radical. I'm a BIG fan of this bar! More than just one of only a few awesome hangouts in Magnolia, Mulleady's is a great bar when compared to all Seattle bars.

Ideal for big parties and large groups, this two-story bar is quite fabulous. I came here last night for a large birthday party and we took up nearly the whole space. The food was great, the service was great and the atmosphere was exactly what we were looking for, casual and fun! Whether you want beer, a cocktail or some whisk(e)y neat, they've got you covered at Mulleady's.

I loved the dark wood interior as it made the space feel really homey and cozy. There were big tables, small tables, sofas and benches. The dart boards and foosball table were always in use and not a single person there didn't have a smile on their face. It'll be hard to go to Magnolia without stopping in here for a drink or three.

I would normally take time to explore the very meaning of the word "verbose" in order to describe the place that is a big part of my life, from trivia on mondays to the other three nights a week my wife and I spend here....eating great food given to us by people we now consider friends.

I could explain how you are most likely a raging douche pickle if you have problems with the staff or service (you have your opinions, I have mine).

I could tell you about the wild boar and mashers with baby carrots that I had last night, which was amazing.

    I could.....

    I would.....

...... but it dumped snow today and we played hookey.....and the pub opens soon.

    So thats it.

Thank you, guys. See you soon.

Over priced food that sounds delicious on the menu, but comes to the customer bland and simply re-heated...I wouldn't mine paying little for a not so good meal, but when you pay a decent amount for food that is simple to make (namely fish and chips) and the restaurant can't even get it right, then you don't go away feeling so great.  Not great food I would say, stick to the happy hour specials and avoid this place for dinner.

I was very pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food at this pub, not your usual pub fare. Anything with their pulled pork on it is great, especially the poutine. The happy hour menu had great choices and at good value. Its really cozy inside, especially on a cold rainy day with a fireplace. Great place. I'll be back.

Aged whiskey from across the sea and new, creative food from local sources. It's a very cool, very Seattle concept.
And I love love love the space. Dark, cosy, warm with lots of little corners to sink in to. And they have two floors with a full bar on each floor (and a linked POS system - yay for easy ordering and cashing out)!
We experienced really slow service from the upstairs barkeep, not from lack of trying but he was fumbling and slowwww. But the downstairs bartender was responsive, apologetic and swift in taking care of us when we let him know of our wait.
I can't wait to go back.

Tasty beer, friendly service but the food was average. I got the burger which was a bit burnt and salty. My wife got the fish and chips. The fries were soggy but the fish was fine. We could go back for the beer but not for lunch again.

Update: The owner reached out to find out more details. I do very much appreciate that.

Love this place! If I could give 6 stars, I would, the beer selection and dinner entrees are excellent. The mac and cheese is the best ever, I prefer with the bacon instead of crab- pair it up with an IPA and your in heaven. Nice homelike feel inside with fireplace, a definite plus on a cold Seattle evening.

Best Irish pub in town, only negative is the lack of parking.

It's about time I review Mulleady's! We moved into an apartment on the same block about three years ago, but it took us awhile to try it out. We've been regulars for a couple years now, and it's been interesting to see the changes over time. Overall, we really like coming here, but do have a few quibbles.

They implemented a new menu format where most items change along with the seasons, which is both awesome and a touch evil. Awesome because I love places that source local and in-season goodies, but evil because I always find new favorites and I never know if they'll make the cut the next time that season rolls around (I still have cravings for the oaten risotto from the most recent spring menu!).

The burger is generally a pretty solid option that I recommend when I bring first-timers here, but we were disappointed when they stopped including fries (or sub salad/soup) with sandwich options and didn't adjust the prices. The fries can be hit-or-miss since they switched to hand-cut fries, too. Sometimes they come out perfect, but sometimes they're sort of on the undercooked/starchy side of the spectrum. Try the duck fat pub crisps (potato chips) instead.

The mac & cheese is some of the best I've had in Seattle, and I'd definitely recommend adding whatever toppings they have available. Cherry tomatoes in the summer were my favorite, but the butternut squash they have now is good too.

We're usually quite pleased with the service here--Paige is awesome! We also loved it when they were purging extra beer glasses and gave us a set of four New Belgium goblets at no charge!

I have to give a nod to Mulleady's for the local beer and cocktail selection, too. I discovered my current favorite beer here (Odin's Gift, a ruby ale), and they also have some tasty cocktails that utilize a good number of housemade infusions (I'd recommend the Jimmy Whispers, a mojito-like creation with cilantro instead of mint).

My boyfriend and I came here randomly when we were visiting friends in Seattle.  It was getting kinda late and we had just flown in from New York, and this place was a couple of blocks from their house.  Boy am I glad that we stopped by.  Cute little pub.  It wasn't too crowded when we came by (might be because it was a Wednesday), but rather nice and low key, which I really enjoyed.  It was the perfect place to chillax with friends and grab a small bite to eat.

My boyfriend had their pulled pork sandwich, which he really liked, and I had the mac n cheese.  Definitely get it with the bacon.  I don't know they did to that bacon, but it was like crack.  Soooooo good.

One thing to keep in mind, they definitely like to keep it dark in there.  I didn't mind, but it kinda makes the place look closed from the outside.  So if you try and stop by, but it looks closed, I would go take a closer look.

Upstairs is never open when I want it open.  Their beer selection is good, they represent Big Al's and Elysian well, also carrying good rotational beers.
Sometimes the place feels awkward to be in, I can't place it, but the room arrangement is funny.
The food is top notch.  Seasonal menu's with creative appetizers not your standard artichoke dip, and Mediterranean hummus platter.  Great veggie/nut burger, and fantastic entree's.
However they've seriously messed up my food order's before leading to recooking entire dishes while I wait and watch everyone else eat.
Mulleady's is a decent neighborhood bar with a few kinks.

Mulleady's is perfect. We live a few blocks away and try to stop by for dinner during the week, since we tend to come on the weekdays we've never had a problem with crowds. The bartender we usually have is great; he talks with my somewhat chatty husband about travels to Ghana (super-cool), provenance of the beer and wine and even bow-hunting, and at the same time doesn't neglect other patrons.

The clientele seems to be pretty low-key; it is a welcome respite from the hipsterness and frat-ery of Ballard where we used to live. I had my birthday there a few months ago and before 9pm, children are welcome in the dining area near the bar - so my nephew could join in the fun. That said, I don't often see kids, but that may be because I usually come by later in the evening.

The food is excellent, especially given the reasonably prices.  We've had the steak tartare, mac and cheese (get it w/ the extras), pan-seared halibut, boar rilletes, duck crisps, burger, cheese tart with foraged berries and crab cakes. I mean, how many pubs do you know of that serve "foraged" anything? In short the food is excellent - the menu recently changed with the season and I'm looking forward to eating my way through it. They sell organic tasty eggs, local from Yelm - like I said, perfect.

I joined a group of friends at Mulleady's a couple of weeks ago. Mulleady's at first appears to be in a pretty good location, but even at 10pm, the parking was really a challenge. After circling the block a couple of times, we finally decided to park a few blocks away.

Once inside we attempted to go right upstairs to meet our friends who had just finished playing trivia only to be stopped by one of the staff. Apparently they close upstairs after trivia. We explained our friends had just finished playing trivia and were still up there. Honestly the upstairs was pretty cool! I don't understand why Mulleady's decides to close this part of the bar off after a certain time.

Anyway, even though I was at an Irish Pub I just wasn't in the mood for beer, so I decided to get wine. Since the bar was closed upstairs we had to go downstairs to order; no biggie. We get to the bar only to be ignored by the bartender for about five minutes, despite the fact that there was only one other person at the bar who had a drink already. Once he was ready to speak with us, he was just unpleasant. This is a personal pet peeve of mine. I know everyone has bad days, but please don't treat me like I'm inconveniencing you by making you do your job.

Okay so at this point I'm a little disappointed, then my pinot noir comes, and it tasted quite past its prime. I'm no sommelier but wine that is bad is pretty easy to pick out and not so easy on the taste buds. Two of my girlfriends had also ordered wine, two different types and both said the same, that it was bad. I don't think I'll be back.

How's about a transcript of what was said to my wife?

No other customers ever said a word to us regarding my son's behavior.  On occasions when he made any mess at all, we did our best to clean up the worst of it, and when I engaged the staff about it, the answer was always "no problem".  So, are you lying now, "Travis", or has your staff been lying for the past three years?  Only one can be true.

I never said that the fries were frozen and reheated on our last visit. I did my best to describe them using a simile. We also never asked for highly modified food - doing so at meat restaurants is an exercise in futility -- we've only ever asked for cheese to be left off the goat-n-greens salad, which the staff never indicated was a problem.

Muleady's encourages customers to smokie in their outside seating area and their staff to smoke next to their dumpster, both within 25' of their door.

Just a great neighborhood bar, not overrun by morons looking for a rowdy Saturday night.  I love how great the drinks are here and the food is actually worth going for ( as opposed to many other bar/pubs that don't serve worthwhile fare).

Sam, the bartender on Fri/Sat is just a great guy.  He does his job well and is efficient behind the bar AND he knows how to carry on a conversation.  If you're into baseball, he'll easily impress you as one of the most knowledgable students of the game you've ever known.  Where he goes wrong though, is in being a Yankee fan, but you can't blame him for it.  Blame his dad, who raised Sam in the Bronx.  :)

I'm glad to have Sam as my bartender and I'm glad to have Mulleady's as my neighborhood bar.

Just as many of these other positive reviews have pointed out - Mulleady's Irish Pub is a stand-out in the bartending arena and, evenly so, a strong contender in the Seattle food scene.

I went for the first time this past week, arriving with high expectations from the praises I had heard from my friends. This establishment met and exceeded those expectations. Shall I count the ways?

    1. The name "Irish pub" does this place no justice. The menu, though rich in irish culinary tradition, is creative, inventive and adventurous without being standoffish and intimidating. A far cry from any local irish pub we may have held up as a stereotype.

    2. Value, value, value. There are few places in Seattle this delicious, this thoughtful in their menu creations that serve at a price point this reasonable. Most of the main entrees are priced anywhere between $9 - $15. The appetizers are filling and great for sharing and with a cocktail menu that prices them each at $8, you could sample freely, without breaking the bank.

    3. The atmosphere in Mulleady's is so comfortable and welcoming that you hardly want to leave. The staff is attentive, the bartender responsive and engaging and the general lightheartedness of the room just makes you feel good. That's all I can say about that.

All in all, I highly recommend Mulleady's for any dining occasion. Family dinners, catching up with friends, date nights out, even with or without children, Mulleady's has something for everyone.

Love it!  Mulleady's is just dang-near perfect.  It's got everything.  It's like having green clovers, blue diamonds, purple horseshoes, yellow moons, pink hearts, and orange stars, all wrapped up in one beautiful mahogany-warmed abode.

It's never been too crowded in the times that I've been here.  The clientele ranges from all walks of life.  You won't feel like an outsider here -unless of course you're a douchebag, in which case: beware.

The bartender(s) are super friendly and helpful when it comes to picking out a drink for yourself.  Especially considering some of the in-house inspired cocktails are pretty eclectic and creative.  The beer options are great and their food menu is surprisingly good!  Lots of yummy comfort food to be found here.  It all goes well with our dreary Seattle days, and it all washes down with a tall pint of Irish ale.  The bar itself is absolutely beautiful.  Not sure if it was custom carved for this pub - or if it was shipped over directly from Ireland.  Either way, it's definitely worth admiring.

Only drawback I could find to Mulleady's - the parking can be very limited in this neighborhood and a bit of a pain at times.

Great little hidden gem in Magnolia.  Let's keep it that way okay?  Forget you ever read this glowing review....;-)

I gotta say...we were plesantly suprised with this place!  We've driven by it a hundred times and it kinds blends in on Dravus right before Red Mill Burger...but we took our kids there on Monday night and it was fantastic.  (Yes...we took our kids to an Irish Pub...what about it?!?)  :)

Their special was the Shepherds Pie with lamb burger, which I would highly recommend.  The burger was great too and came on a big, soft, butter brioche bun....no sides (they are seperate) but great portions.

Their drinks are all thoughtfully handmade too, and a nice selection of whiskeys.  Give this place a try for sure! :)

This bar is very cozy and warm and even has a fireplace! Their menu has been updated recently and it includes braised beef cheeks! Yum yum.

I love the barternders that work here. Eli is very knowledable and lets you have a taste of any beer you would like while presenting it to you with a smile. Thanks!

The chef has created some new dishes and added them to the menu to see what will sell and what works. I like a little variety. The food is tasty. So tasty that I am about to go over there now for a nice hearty meal and some good beer to wash it down with.

I also like how the outside is open when it's nice out so you can enjoy the Seattle sun (guess I need to wait until spring again). I did come here for my first time over the summer. I remember Eli and he was super friendly and a great host to me and my girl Richelle.

I brought an out of town visiter here last week. We enjoyed some seasonal pumpkin beer and some of the late night happy hour menu.

I highly recommend this place and the atmosphere is very welcoming. The decor is also pretty cool with the Irish history. I think they should update the chef picture that hangs on the wall. That guy is long gone and the new one has fantastic food. I'm on my way there now to try out the Shepard's pie!

Ooh and don't forget about trivia night! And try a Father Palmer drink. So tasty and well done, I must admit!

    Terrible.

This was by far the worst meal I have had in Seattle. Worse than the train wreck that was Machiavelli. Worse than the stuff they called "food' at Barrio. I cannot overstate how bad this meal was.

We had the sliders off the happy hour menu. Our two sliders were underwhelming to say the least. One of them didn't have the slaw like was advertised and overall they were pretty unappealing. The jar of pickles were pretty tasty.

Now on to the truly atrocious part of the experience. The burger. First off, I ordered + bacon and + swiss cheese. Burger arrived without cheese, which turns out is my smallest complaint about the burger.

The burger was a hockey puck. It was obviously reheated from several hours ago. There was absolutely no juice left in the burger. No pink center. It was horribly dry and completely inedible. The bacon was more like bacon jerky, completely overcooked, cry, and obviously leftover from hours (or days) ago.

This might have been a one-off bad experience because some idiot didn't know how to cook a burger, which is possible based off all the other crazed rantings about how the burger is great. It was terrible. Absolutely terrible. No one should pay $11 for yesterday's burger. An absolute waste of the trip over to Mongolia and the $12 an hour we paid the babysitter.

Steer clear of this place. Go to Smith, The Tin Table, Voila, or Quinn's if you want a good burger. Or at least an edible burger.

Irish pubs are a dime a dozen but Mulleady's is a rare exception. It's not billed as a gastropub so the fare was surprisingly good - lentil and barley veggie burger, curried cauliflower spread, mussels, etc. Chef Tim Stewart obviously takes pride in his craft as he made the rounds on a Friday night to welcome and thank patrons.

The beer selection is solid, though not extensive. It seems the list is culled from personal favorites but there is something to please everyone.

    Best bacon and pickles ever.

Those two things alone garner a 5-star review, but we're talking bar food, so I'm gonna keep it real.

The pickles are housemade, with apparently lots of love. They're thickly cut chips that have the perfect balance of sweet and sour, and they've got a crunch that'll rock your mouth.

I made sure to ask where they get their amazing bacon--surely from hogs that sprouted wings and flit around the heavens. Or the next best place: Zoe's Meats. Never heard of them, but it's a name I won't soon forget. Must also give props to the kitchen for knowing how to cook pig belly with surgical precision.

My bf and I split the mac 'n' cheese, a small dish filled with big flavor from super-sharp Cheddar (?). Orecchiette cups the sauce nicely, and a dusting of toasted Panko adds texture. Really yummy.

He had the knockers and colcannon w/ cider beurre blanc; I had the bacon burger dressed with tomato jam and caramelized onions, and served alongside delicious golden fries. Pub fare for sure, but with a different spin and some unexpected panache (can't wait to come back for the Chevre & blackberry honey fondue).

Service was great, atmosphere is cozy albeit dark and brooding, and prices are very reasonable.

The offerings on Mulleady's menu seem well-suited for that three-in-one season that comes after every Seattle "summer." I know where I'll keep coming to get out of the rain and satisfy my comfort food cravings for the next nine months.

I liked Mulleady's, went here on a random Groupon that was about to expire. Glad that I made the trip out, they had some good beers on tap and it was an interesting mix of Irish pub + food that was more of what you might think of in an English "Gastro Pub" then just your run of the mill Irish fare.

There were a lot of interesting menu items and we ended up just doing a few of the heavier apps to get a variety of what they had. They all were pretty tasty and we need to stop back

Mulleady's is like Old Faithful.  When I'm too lazy to drive my booty out of Magnolia, there she is.

The atmosphere is comfortable and warm.  I can bring my family for dinner, or come for later drinks with friends.  I'm not a girl who often goes for a drink alone.  It's just not comfortable in most places, but I've done it here.  Brought my Kindle, had a cocktail and nobody looked twice.  It's a place that can be whatever you want it to be.  Gotta love it.

Reasonable prices, great food...  Burger.  Get a burger.  Service is always friendly.  Yep.  Can't think of a better place in this area.

This is my local spot, so, I want to love it, but honestly, if I didn't live down the street, I wouldn't make the effort.

    Food - great. Actually, awesome.
    Drinks - good.
Location - couldn't be closer, I can walk.
Decor - pretty comfy, but often cold.
Service - meh, waitresses are slow, and the bartender is less than nice.

Mulleady's is a true Irish pub! Located smack-dab in the middle of a Magnolia neighborhood, I only wish I lived closer to frequent this place more often. Food is absolutely divine and the staff is knowledgeable and super helpful.

Fireplace upstairs is cozy and a perfect place to have a private party.

Plenty of delicious selections on the menu with traditional Irish fare and local/in season items that the talented chef prepares with care.

Beer selection is of a traditional Irish pub (Guinness, Harp, etc) but they also carry a decent selection of micro brews.

Ahh, so you're looking for some food that will stick to your ribs and down a pint, then you need to try Mulleady.  But, come early because it can get crowded.

You really need to try their Sheppard's Pie.

    Enjoy!

This is a solid Irish pub... it's the kind of place that makes you want to live in the neighborhood so that you can hit it up more often when it's not busy.

The beer is a bit pricey though imo, which is why I'd give it four instead of five. If you're coming from outside of the Magnolia, there are other Irish pubs that are just as good with better prices.

I agree with Mel R., plus I have two haikus to add to the reviews:

    Call me crazy yet...
Can walk here, great beer, food, I
    Won't go anywhere else.

    Is it Irish...no
    Sea-town modern, plus Lodge-ish...
    Thoughts of French Quarter...

I have to say I was hesitant to head to Magnolia for a Saturday night gathering and I had never heard of Mulleady's.  But it was "St. Practice Day", two days before St. Patty's, so Mulleady's seemed like it could fit the bill.

Well, I loved it.  Two floors, each with its own fireplace (there is nothing I love more than a Guinness in front of the fire in a cozy pub), tons of seating including church pews, two dart boards, a foosball table, two happy hours, a little band stand downstairs and a dance floor.  I just can't think of a thing you could add to that list to make it any better.

Then I looked at the menu and it got better.  In addition to breaded and fried pub items of all kinds, including Irish-ish things, they have salads which you can add salmon to!  I asked the waitress what the soup of the day was, and when she said lentil/spinach/chickpea, I about hugged her.  Is that weird?  Anyway, I had that with a spinach salad (which came with a cheddar and bacon shortbread cookie.  Next time I am going to just ask for a whole plate of those), and it was so good.

The crowd was also great.  At one point, a young gal with a fiddle just stood up and started playing.  It seemed impromptu but I don't know many people who carry their fiddles around just in case, so it must have been pre-meditated by Mulleady's.  She played a few times throughout the night.  Downstairs, the coolest rockabilly band played, and all these beautiful gals and guys with slick, piled up hair danced.

It is going to be hard to go straight home from work, having to pass by Dravus St and knowing Mulleady's is there... with their fireplaces... and their Guinness... and their bacon cheddar cookies.

One of two bars mere walking distance from my pad. I've been in a handful of times. I like it the interior, nicely done with lots of old world charm, an upstairs and a fireplace. I've only sampled a few items off the menu: the hummus plate and a grilled cheese, both were good. They have wifi and plenty of tv's to watch euro football. On good days there is a fenced off outdoors seating area. The drink prices seem comparable to other bars.

Overall, I give this place 4 stars. The extra fancy HUGE 5th star is for the sheer fact that they have Carlsburg on tap! Do you know how hard that is to find? Hard. Any who, I love my cheap English piss beer.

My friend Kathleen and I recently went for a hike through Discovery Park and decided to come to Mulleady's afterward to stuff our faces.  Sincere props to our friend Becky who recommended them, because they make one of the best burgers I have ever tasted.

I need to give a special shout out to our friendly server Sunnie, whose disposition was... well... sunny.  She never seemed to be too far away when we needed another drink, she had some helpful ordering advice for us and was able to accommodate Kathleen's special request (she prefers her bacon burnt to a crisp).

What makes their burgers so divine?  A perfectly prepared patty (not too greasy, not too dry), caramelized onions, a topping called tomato jam (like ketchup but sweeter), and for a few dollars more bacon or your choice of cheeses (including my favorite, gorgonzola).  All this served on a toasted "artisan" bun with your choice of sides.  I had the french fries, which were crispy and golden.  Kathleen had a side salad of fresh seasonal greens with walnuts, chevre and a vinaigrette--a not uncommon combination, but perfectly executed and delicious.  I highly recommend this as a healthier alternative to the fries.

The exterior looks a little plain, but the interior is very classy with fine woodwork and high ceilings.  An upstairs seating area rings the restaurant and there's a small patio area too.  The bar is gorgeous and I saw many of my favorite liquors are available.  I didn't try any cocktails, but given the quality of food and service I imagine they pour an excellent drink.  They've got a great jukebox too--we heard all kinds of music, from Jurassic 5 to Led Zeppelin.

The biggest drawback is the parking situation.  The bar is in a residential area with limited street parking.  Kathleen and I found a spot a little over a block away though, and the extra five minutes and short walk was worth it.  So stay calm and don't sweat it, because you're in for a treat.

I've been a somewhat regular patron of Mulleady's since I lived a block away, back when it was in its original location across the street from it's current home.  When they relocated to the new building, I was leery of how well the transition would go, especially since they lost the back yard beer garden.

Many of the original fixtures found their way upstairs in the new place, and the legendary bathtub-sized urinal found its way into the men's room, so they managed to retain a good bit of the old charm in addition to the shiny, clean downstairs dining area.  Upstairs is better suited for hanging out and playing cards over a few pints, while downstairs feels more like a restaurant and is nice enough for a casual date.

The food selection is very well-rounded, especially considering their primary option used to be ordering takeout from Romio's next door, and it has a very good selection of both the expected pub grub (the fish and chips are quite nice) and healthier fare (the mahi wrap is also very tasty).  The tap options are pretty standard for a Seattle Irish pub, and the prices are generally pretty reasonable.

This really should be a four-star review.  And yet, I find myself struggling to give it three.

The primary thing that really keeps me from suggesting Mulleady's as a more regular destination (apart from now having to cross the Ballard Bridge) is the customer service.  More specifically, the consistency thereof.  Sometimes the service is spot on: attentive, friendly, and prompt.

Other times, it's quite the opposite.  It's not uncommon to be sitting at a table near the bar with an empty glass while waitstaff repeatedly pass by empty-handed and avoiding eye contact with you.

Or, to be sitting with a stack of closed menus, ready to order food, and have nobody in sight to actually take your order.  Or worse, have someone stop by and say "Oh, you're ready?  I'll send your waiter/waitress right over." and then continue to sit there.

If you're not in a hurry or as picky about customer service as I seem to be (and by picky I mean I like to have some), Mulleady's is a great Magnolia establishment, and generally serves the pub needs of the Interbay/Queen Annex area quite nicely, but it definitely leaves a lot of room for improvement when it comes to actually serving the needs of its customers.

Sometimes what sells a place to me isn't the food, the service or the atmosphere - it's the folks who hang out there.  And that's what I've liked about Mulleadys.

Not the typical Irish pub fare - which is a treat, they do have the typical Irish pub drinks.

Magnolia is off the beaten track - but it's worth the trek.

Mulleady's is an interesting choice in an area that has limited entertainment options. In the Interbay area where people are hurriedly either getting to Queen Anne or Magnolia, Mulleady's is worth a periodic stop.

Along Dravus street are a few shops next to 15th Avenue, but part way up the hill toward Magnolia lies Mulleady's. You can almost miss it, because the outside of the building sort of looks like the condo developments next door, but the small front patio with a few chairs is the giveaway.

But it's not like you'd expect on the inside. They've decorated the place with dark wood and the inside is minimally brightened with dim lighting. Beyond the doorway, it's almost like peering into the pitch black.....so we grabbed seats near the front windows. But it has a more ornate appearance with a fireplace near the front. A few games (I saw Scrabble) adorn the sides of the fireplace.

The menu is an interesting list of beers, wines and some decent looking pub food options. I chose the Snoqualmie Pale Ale and the Mulleady burger. The Pale Ale didn't impress me, but I don't hold it against Mulleady's. It's more that I'm a Porter fan, but keep trying to convince myself that there's some merit in Ales. And continuously proving myself wrong.

The Mulleady's burger was the high point: I chose bacon, blue cheese and carmelized onions as the toppings and the order comes with a healthy dose of fries. The mix of the carmelized onion and blue cheese is fantastic: it measures up to any of the burgers that I've had at the specialty joints recently.

Service was also very friendly and prompt. Our server was named Charms and I did my very best to keep from asking her if that was her real name. Plus that kept me from firing away on the obvious second question (e.g. So has anyone ever given you the nickname "Lucky"?). But aside from that, she came up with good meal suggestions and tossed in a few nice jokes over the afternoon. All in all, a nice local Irish Pub to visit.

Even when this was in its first space, a half block down Dravus, it was a cozy, freindly local pub. It was also a lovely perk to live around the corner from it. Buuuuuuuuuut I don't live that close anymore and I haven't been here since they relocated. That is until St. Patrick's Day.

What an immense joy and pleasure to find this place is bigger and better. The staff was till extremely pleasant and Dave, one of the owners, can always be see out and around the pub, pulling taps for Black Velvets (Guinness and Cider), grabbing a sandwich f(Grand Central bakery bread) for a patron, or just quickly chatting you up while he tidys up.

I'm also very excited that I can bring my daughter here now. Kids are welcome until 9pm. With the dark, dark wood and the two floors the true Irish pub feeling is made whole by the fact that my entire family can come here now.
