Muire skate has a great selection and is much less expensive than some other shops that I wont mention.

I only ever get my skate equipment at Muir Skate. Scott opened the joint when I was a sophomore at UCSD and he quickly blew up. Everyone on campus knew him as the awesome Muir Skate dude who would let you try out any board before choosing which to buy. I've purchased three boards from him and adore two. The other one, he actually cautioned I might not like but I was stubborn and got it anyways. Ever since then, I ask him what would be a good board for what I want to do and he gives me a good honest recommendation. And its always right.
I also bought a lot of cool apparel and backpacks from him as he always have the good brands as a nice cost. Great specials too = Awesome! =) -

Muir Skate used to be located in Muir College at UCSD before it moved out to PB, which means my allegiance to it is pretty automatic purely based on that fact (i have a high sense of muir pride and loyalty!) plus i used to walk by and see Scott showing people how to use their skateboard and I'd always be tempted to go buy one.
The downside is that the new location is not super easy to find because there isn't a big sign, but if your looking for it you will find it. Scott is chill and I've heard good things about all things skateboard related, but being a non skater I just go there to buy rainbows. Scott seems to have the best price on them unless you want to go to San Clemente and the people that work there are chill and friendly. All in all Muir skate is cool in my book. -

This place was great! I found Muir online because they had a good price on a board I was looking at and found out they were right down the street from me. I just ended up going down to the store and I'm glad I did, Scott spent at least 30 minutes with me to find exactly what I was looking for. He was super helpful and really knew what he was talking about.
Another great thing about Muir is that they have a bunch of demo boards so you get to ride them before you buy them, which is great since they have a lot to choose from.
Definitely check them out if you are in the market for a new board. -

This place is great! Nothing beats it. This shop has a bunch of boards you can take for a test-run to see which one you like. If you ask Scott, the owner, he'll help you out. He accommodates riders of all levels directs you toward a board best suited for you. Huge selections, fast and easy assembly, great parts, and a great environment. Every time I'm there, I feel like I want to buy something. :P

Diamond Bar, CA
this place is the $HIT!!!
not only is this one of few shops open on a sunday, it's on UCSD campus. because so many shops were closed in the LA and OC area, i had to drive down just to get my trucks, wheels, bearings, and bushings. but it was all worth it considering i got everything i wanted and the girls on campus were really cute. i love this place and this is why...
1. what do you need? well, it doesn't matter, they have it in stock!
2. they have almost every good board and parts to test ride before you buy!
3. great customer service and representation of the shop.
4. after you buy, you can ride it right away and cruise down to the bar on campus!
5. prices are reasonable and negotiable(the more you buy, the more you save).
shop right, shop safe, ride easy, die hard. -

Nothing but praise for Muir Skate. It's a very modest place but deals great products, and pretty fair prices. Plenty of reviews on the gear they carry (excellent of course), so I'll focus on their good business practice.
I've gotten some great, HONEST advice from Scott on what to get for my skateboard. He and the rest of the guys there really know their stuff since they actually test out their products. Unlike other stores, I never feel uncomfortable going in to ask for help cuz I know he won't try to sell me unnecessary things just to make a buck. In fact, he referred me to another surf shop once cuz he thought they had the surf fins I would need. I hope they stay this modest even when they've expanded even further, cuz it's definitely working for them.
I would try to stop by their store if you're new and looking to buy a board and talk to one of the workers there. They won't pressure you into buying, but chances are if you were serious about buying a board, you'll end up doing it there anyways. -

AMAZING Skate shop. Scott will take care of you. I walked in as a newbie and he helped me through the ropes and worked with me until I could pick out the right board. He also helps me fix anything minor that I encounter while riding for FREE. I can truly tell he's not in it just for money like most retailers out there. This shop is LEGIT. All the other employees there are pretty cool tool, and they KNOW THEIR STUFF. Highly recommended. Great deals. Awesome for UCSD students too!
