My husband and I visited MUD today during our brief visit to Marfa and it turned out to be one of the highlights of our vacation. Emily Brink and Mike Bianco, the owners of Marfa Utilitarian Designs, generously showed us around their studio and answered all of our questions. One of the best things about MUD, and it's what you'll notice right away when you enter the studio, is that the art is presented beautifully. It's a working studio so you can (and should!) buy the impressive ceramics on display but you'll also appreciate the artistic presentation of the pieces - it was like walking into a museum. MUD is great for the same reason Marfa is great - artistic traditions are presented in a new and exciting light.

We met Emily when she gave us a tour of Chinati and stopped by MUD later that day. We hope it was a good day for her (who could resist buying that beautiful Japanese influenced pottery??) and her dog (three people all there just to rub her tummy!!). If you go to Marfa, please make this a stop and support some fantastic local artists (and their pup).
