I recently went to Mud Bay because I was looking for a more natural cat food, one with less fillers such as corn and what not.
I found that not only do they have a large selection of the type of cat food I was looking for but the staff was very knowledgeable about the product the carry.
I guy named mike helped me out and he was great!
Also, what's cool about this place is that if for some reason the food doesn't work out, for instance if your pet doesn't like the taste you can return/exchange it for something else! -

Another Greenwood gem! Located to the east of the Fred Meyer and to the north of Top Ten Toys, Mud Bay is in the retail space of a condo complex. I have been going there for years for my cats (in fact, I still remember when they replaced Bosley's on Greenwood Ave. and still call the store "Bosley's" sometimes). They have always been super duper friendly, helpful and always have exactly what product I need and, if not, recommend local places to get what I need (for instance, Advantage flea med).
Now I have a dog and, again, they have been informative and friendly. Every time we go in there, Rosie gets a little smile on her face and an extra spring in her step because Mud Bay means one thing: treats! She sniffs around the treats and then is always given one at checkout. It is one of her favoritest places. -

Put simply, Mud Bay is the place to go in Seattle for your dog stuff. My wife and I got an English mastiff / yellow lab mix, and from the day we brought him home, Finn's been a fan of Mud Bay. If we walk in the neighborhood and he sees the store, he'll wag his tail and look hopefully at the store. He knows when to go in and pick out toys, and if we're walking from point A to point B in the store it's pretty much time to check out everyone in the place.
Mud Bay has employees who care. They're working their butts off for their customers. When we had a case of wet food that seemed to be causing Finn to spray ass on a daily basis, Mud Bay helped us find the right kind of dry food diet for our pupster to get him in balance. They took back the food we didn't use and gave us full credit for it. They exchanged harnesses, leashes, and while Finn's still got to be watched like a hawk whenever he goes in so he doesn't get the treats that turn him into Sir Liquid Butt, they're understanding of pretty much all animals who come through.
How understanding? They have leash cleats so the two-legged critters can get their wallets and carry the purchases out without worrying about a hyper 140+ lb doggie leaping in joy when he sees his favorite cashiers.
In addition, their fresh catnip is CRAZY good, according to our neurotic feline. -

Even if you don't love your pet, Mud Bay certainly does...They also love mark-ups, but you know, designer prices for designer products. The only thing they don't have, as far as I can tell, are claw caps. No big deal, who needs em when you can choose between four hundred and ninety million kinds of food. It's like CostCo for pets! Ok, technically PetCo is like CostCo for pets but whatever. The folks who work here are cheeky and hilarious... Which all pet store employees should be, amirite?

Mud Bay gets 5 stars hands-down for knowledge, special orders, reminder calls, and the trial wet food they'll give ya free when you are changing your cat's wet food diet. It makes it easy to save a buck with a picky kitty instead of tossing the whole can you spent money on.
They've got an awesome collection of cat and dog things - food to toys, leashes to litter, and climbing posts too! The staff are super cool and love your pet! With multiple locations, it makes it easy to swing by in my mess of errand running. -
Review from Andrew M.
My dog, Freddy, insisted I give Mud Bay a 5 star rating. After a long, and sometimes contentious, discussion on the issue I had to agree with him.
Among the arguments he put forth:
-Mud Bay has a large selection of items, but everything from the food to the toys to the apparel, is all top quality stuff so you can be confident about whatever you end up buying.
-The staff there is extremely nice and helpful. Plus you can tell that they really care about animals and are knowledgeable about the items in the store. That helps ensure you have the best information possible when it comes to picking out things for your furry friend.
-The prices are fair and reasonable. While you could probably get by spending a tiny bit less at a large national pet supply store... you'll also be getting inferior products. (I have to take credit for this point)
-Finally, he reminded me that they give him treats every time I take him in the store. He could not stress the importance of this enough. On and on about the treats he went. I get it already. -
Review from Emily T.
I'm easily entertained. That being said, I should probably feel bad when I have guests over. Sure, we can have drinks. Movie night? Okay. But wouldn't you rather just watch my dog go buck wild for a treat from Mud Bay? Honestly, watching my lab mix, Hercules, run laps around my small apartment and do flying leaps off the back of my couch out of sheer excitement is completely entertaining.
My dog will eat pretty much anything, really, so I tend to just buy dog food from the grocery store, since it's not as expensive. For special treats and toys though, Mud Bay is my go to place. The staff is always really friendly and offer samples of treats when I go in. My roommate's dog has certain dietary requirements and the staff has always been very helpful pointing her and her dog in the right direction.Listed in: Pooch places

I first visited Mud Bay Granary on Capitol Hill, and this one on Greenwood is a perfect dog's walk from our house! I was thrilled when I found out how close it is. First thing in the morning on the second day after I got my pup, Ellie, who was a rescue so we were pretty much totally unprepared for her, we marched ourselves to Mud Bay to get her pretty much everything because she came with nothing but a leash. The staff was totally helpful, fitting Ellie with a harness (she pulls a bit on the leash... okay a lot, little brat), helping us choose a food, and showing us some toys. She even got to taste test the food and some treats.
Mud Bay has the best of everything for dogs and cats. There are lots of natural products. You can trust that you'll find knowledgable help here from people who really love animals. Although the lady did tell me Ellie looks like a bat.... then she changed it to owl.... poor little dog.
The sales lady told me a story last time we were there about a dog who lived nearby, and every time she got loose she'd go directly to Mud Bay for some treats. I guess it goes without saying that animals are welcome to visit the store... forget Petco, Mud Bay is where the Pets Go! -
Review from Melody P.
I don't think I can get the doggie food my boys need from the chain pet stores. Therefore, I visit Mud bay ever 1.5 to 2 months depends on how fast my boys eat their food.
Since we live in an apartment, my boys don't get as much exercise as they should have, I get them weight management doggie food from EVO. I don't think it's their favorite, but it's good for them!
They are a great selection of food, treats, and other accessories in the store. This Mud Bay in Greenwood was moved from the other located. It is now a lot more convenient and closer to where I live. Staff is nice and knowledgeable. Of course, it's a doggie friendly store and you can bring your pets on leash. -

Maybe it's bc it was 9AM on hump day? I'm sorry my dog again can't control himself when looking at the different assorted dog collars and I did profusely apologize. But can you crack a smile at the woman who's purchasing about a hundred dollars worth of un-neccessary necessities?
Their dog toys are cheaper than Urban Beast by 50% tho. So I'll probably come back after lunch, when you're more awake. -

I just love this Mud Bay. I had been going to a chain store up on Aurora and then I discovered the fabulousness of Mud Bay. Everyone who works there is so nice and helpful. At the chain store (it was a co or a smart, I can't remember) they didn't seem to really care about much.
One of my cats had stopped eating and it was awful and cost lots of money.... I told the girl at Mud Bay that it may have been from a bag of food I had bought there and she was such a love. She said sometimes there is a bad batch around.... She had me bring the bag in so they could let the suppliers know and gave me a refund. Then she gave me 10 to 15 samples to try to find something he would eat. When I found something, she gave me a big bag for free. Now he is healthy and back to his troublemaking self. Thank you Mud Bay. -

Since I refuse to go to All The Best Pet Care for personal reasons, Mud Bay is the place for me.
My cats are canned food whores (all 6 of them) and so we buy it by the case. Lucky for us, Mud Bay gives you a case discount and they let you mix and match cans which is good for us because my whores like variety.
My Shih Tzu has really bad allergies and needs to eat food with a novel protein. For those who don't know what that means, it means my dog eats duck which is not commonly fed to dogs. The little bastard eats better than me. But Mud Bay carries that too.
They have everything you need for you pets and I like the one stop shopping. I go to all the Mud Bay locations (which there are a lot and they are conveniently located all over Puget Sound, this one is just closer to my house so I find myself there more than any other location.
The staff is always nice. I don't really ever need their "help or advice" because I know what I want, where it is and how to find it. Mud Bay doesn't rearrange the store every 3 months either like "some" pet stores do so my stuff is always easy to find. My dogs like to go with and pick stuff out too. Luckily, Mud Bay lets them come in and they give them treats. -

The best aspect to Mud Bay is definately the staff. The people who work here are so friendly and helpful.
The selection of healthy pet food is very nice - our dog has a sensitive tummy and can only eat limited ingredient food. Buying it here is less expensive than from the vet, which is a big plus.
But the best part of this store, again, are the people who work here. -

When we chose our first cat from PAWS Cat City in Greenwood, they gave us coupons for Mud Bay. We went over there for her first things and since then, we haven't frequented the chain stores.
They have a great selection of toys and an incredible selection of foods. When we were terrified by the stories about contaminated cat food, we could always trust Mud Bay. They kept updated lists of recalled food and took each thing off their shelves immediately. They also posted letters from various companies discussing where their ingredients came from. All of this made it easy to select food that we felt secure giving to our cats.
Mud Bay is now our first choice for all things pet-related. -

I love Mud Bay. Their selection of cat foods and litters is awesome. Their selection of cat toys is pretty good, too. We bought a cat tree there once, and they sprayed it with catnip spray to make it popular from the start.
The employees are always very helpful. Oh, and I love the dented cans on sale! -

Local, friendly, knowledable, reasonable prices for healthy food; everything I want in a pet store is at Mud Bay.
Each time I walk in there, the employees act like I'm the only person in the store (everyone gets this treatment) and answer every little question I have. They know a lot about their products and about pets in general and are able to personalize your shopping experience. I also love how they offer to carry stuff out to my car for me, even though I can do it myself.
They also have a policy if you don't like a product, you can return it (even if it's used) and exchange it! That is GREAT customer service.
They have a good selection of organic food as well as stuff for pets with allergies or other needs. I don't like to feed my kitty grains and they have options for her.
My kitty Rhubarb is incredibly spoiled because of you combined with my inability to say no to that cute little 'meow' she gives me when I come home with treats from Mud Bay. I swear she knows the bag!
There are other locations around Seattle so find the one in your neighboorhood! (Capitol Hill, U-Village are two I know of) -

OMG- i got this thing for my sisters dog- it's a birdhouse that holds birds in it and the dog tries to get the birds out- kind of like a baby toy-
This place is so fun- the people are nice- lots of free samples- good place.
hooray for non-chain pet stores... -

Mud Bay may not have EVERYTHING I need (we go elsewhere for the dog food that works for our mutts) but they have plenty. They've got great toys, all the stuff my cats love, bowls for everyone, I could go on and on.
All of the people here are super nice, too.Listed in: Green'Hood, For the dogs!

I got to dogsit Pelo this weekend while his mom was out of town so it was a guy's weekend! Woohoo! Frisbee at the park, shopping at Home Depot, lunch at Norm's (Pelo digs his Boudary Bay IPA but I had to limit him to just one), a game of football with the boys before the Superbowl party and of course a trip to Mud Bay for treats and a new toy!
I still remember the original Mud Bay Granary in Olympia on , yep you guessed it, Mud Bay Highway. My 'rents adopted these two Komondors that could only eat one crazy-ass type of special dog food - something you're not going to find in a small town like Oly. So we stopped in at this little feed store to see if they possibly had any ideas. They were super helpful and not only found this food but continued to special order it for us for years. They always gave us completely personalized service and were always super friendly. So I was psyched to see the first Mud Bay open in Seattle and even more so to find that they still give that same great friendly service. Now, whenever I have an excuse to spoil a dog, I make a trip to one of the Mud Bays. -

We love Mud Bay, and are lucky to have two near our home in Ballard.
Although the food choices for both dogs and cats are plentiful, and healthy, the best part of these stores is the Staff.
Everyone is , friendly, helpful and well-informed. They will give you samples for your pets to try-before-you-buy.
One of our dogs has some food allergies, and some intestinal issues. Mud Bay has recommended different food options, and suppliments (Salmon Oil), which have turned around his health.
Any of the Mud Bay stores will be our first choice to shop.
We love you guys!! -

I'm new to the cat thing. Actually, new to the whole non-goldfish pet thing. The staff at MEOW (where I got my twin boys) recommended their U-Village location to me (Okay, I'll admit, the "freebies" coupons helped to). I went on-line and found that this one was a lot closer (walking distance closer).
The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. If the person you're talking to doesn't know the answer, they'll find someone who does. They carry higher quality food than you'll find on the shelves at the grocery store or big name pet store chains - so it is a little pricier, but it's worth the money (and it's not outrageously expensive). They had a great selection of cat trees, carriers, litter boxes, and toys. I was able to find a ton of cute balls (furry, unfunny, filled with catnip, etc.) that have been indestructible (and my cats love to bite).
It's a great cat and dog store - I'd be hard-pressed to find pet items for anything else (Do they even carry anything for other animals? I don't think so.). The focus and quality of goods is what makes them "not just any other pet store." I'll be honest, I don't think my cats care much about what they eat, but I feel better knowing that I'm feeding them quality food. They love the frozen foods too (I haven't been able to find those anywhere else.). -

This is an awesome store~ you can choose from a huge selection of the high end dog foods, treats.. same for your kitty, too. Grooming items, vitamins, pet collars, leashes,.. a no-frills store, really. They sell a lot of what you may need (ie: no $50 dog sweater!)
All the good reviews are true and the staff were so very nice and friendly! Even when they just opened at 9 in the morning!!
They even sell raw food and have lots of samples to try... which is nice if you're like me and have the pickiest cat in the world. -

The best of the Mud Bay stores I've been to.
Ever since I realized that veterinarians don't know everything--you know your pet better than they do--, I have found it both useful and fascinating to walk into stores like Mud Bay and poke around at the often ingenious products--not all useless!--that can keep one's indoor cat healthy AND happy.
Since then, when I've needed to get something special for my cat (like special poultry-flavored toothpaste, "cat grass," or Da Bird toy), I've found it here, in my former neighborhood of years ago.
Recently, I had to call up to figure out that I had to remove the tape connecting the string to the rod of the Da Bird toy I had purchased here months ago, and the person who answered the telephone clearly and patiently explained that I had to remove it (I had of it as a "fishing pole" for cats, but didn't want to poke my cat's eyes out!).
The store offers several coupons to redeem for food, litter, etc. if you adopt an animal from the Seattle Animal Shelter.
Sometimes the staff seems more interested in hanging out by the register.
I got a pretty decent cage for my guinea pig here years ago, much better than I found else in the city. At one point, I bought some "bales" here of guinea pig wood shavings, which came with little "bo" weevils, which have become (unwanted) "pets," too, wherever I have moved and no matter how hard I try to clean my cupboards.
Somewhat more expensive than All the Best Pet Care...but this Mud Bay is still a pleasant store on Greenwood Avenue, one of the most walkable, interesting, and down-to-earth streets of Seattle. -

The translation on that is "I like the fluffy rosie the rats to play with, and the stick feather string. . The stinky food is the yummiest"

I like that Mudbay is a specialist pet store. With a wide variety of options for my kitten all in the higher end quality and cost wise. I usually get cat food, cat treats, and cat toys here.
I'll admit that I feel pretty guilty getting stinky anti flatulent cat treats from New Zealand, but it makes the kitten happy, so who am I to complain? -

Two words: liver biscotti. Mud Bay is our source for this healthy and addictive treat for our basset hound!
Though their prices tend to be a bit steep, they do have an outstanding array of treats to spoil your pooch! And their staffers are friendly and helpful, and they always provide a snack for my girl when we stop in for a visit! -

I love love LOVE Mud Bay. They support the local shelters and are an incredible resource of local pet needs--from dog walkers to vets and everything else you can imagine.
Staff like each other and their customers. They're always friendly and pleasant--to people and pets! They answer questions without being pushy and never judge.
Lots of great brands of dog and cat stuff, at average prices. From the ridiculously cute to the absolutely practical, you'll find it here.
I wish I still worked two blocks away; I hardly ever get up here anymore. -

I like Mud Bay. Numerous reasons come to mind, but specifically their close proximity to my home is the major plus.
Also, they carry all kinds of good for your pooch food and treats, so I can feed my 3 furry kids something besides chicken beaks and feet ground up into little tasty pellets.
These guys are reasonably priced, so that helps. Go there and keep them in business so we dont have to go back to buying animal byproduct food from PetCo. -

Mud Bay is just a few blocks away from my apartment and it's so convenient. I refuse to shop anywhere else for my pet supplies. They have a great selection of foods, treats and toys. My cats are super picky and it's usually hard to find the right things for them.
The staff is always welcoming and very helpful. One of my cats had a skin irritation a few months ago, and they took the time and helped me find a natural remedy for him. -

The folks here are so nice, and we sometimes get samples which just makes Cady's day. I myself get freaked out by dog food that comes in a Jimmy Dean-like tube, but that's just me. Our cats get stuff from the grocery store because they boycotted fancy treats from New Zealand from here. Again, more for Cady!

Helpful staff, and an EXCELLENT selection of cat treats. I enjoy walking by here and grabbing something yummy or fun for my kitties to enjoy. They have a great return policy (I haven't tried it, they just told me about it). You can try a new litter or food, and if your cats don't like it, they'll take the partial bag back.

Love, love, love this location of Mud Bay. Good selection and an amazingly friendly staff. I would especially like to shout-out to the girl who helped me tonight -- the cool one with the buzz cut. In the middle of the store's hectic two-hour holiday sale, with customers swarming all over the place, she totally helped me find everything I needed and then carried three enormous bags of food to my car without even breaking a sweat. All smiles and super sweet. Christmas came early for my puppy and cats this year. I highly recommend this place for all pet owners.

Mud Bay has been my store of choice from the first time I visited two years ago. Everyone I've encountered at the store has been knowledgeable, friendly, and very helpful. They have an excellent selection for all the things I need for my cat, from litter to toys to food, etc. Their return policy is also really great--I'm never afraid to buy something and waste my money as they encourage you to bring it back if it doesn't work and find something that does.

I love visiting this store. It has a local flavor like Greenwood and the people are great friends to pets and people. Let me explain: the welcome when you walk in is personally directed to you and your critter, Nice! At the other guys it feels like they are mostly cashier trained or product stocking help. What can I say, I'm a service kind of guy and appreciate solid service like this. Plus the dog and cat specially items.
