I have fond memories of learning how to ski at Mt. Bachelor, and am happy to say that the quality is still there. The staff is friendly and courteous (not like some of the punks you find at the Tahoe resorts), and the facilities are nice. I actually like the lack of slope-side lodging. I think it helps keep the crowds down.
The lifts are fast, so the lines don't get too long.
The parking lot is huge, and there is a free shuttle that runs from the Main lodge to the Sunrise lodge in case you need it.
I love doing "laps" from the summit to the bottom of Rainbow, Sunrise, or Northwest. With the awesome vertical and varied terrain, you can definitely get the most out of your ticket. The openness and beautiful scenery are unparalleled. Even after coming here for 30 years, I still bring my camera every time!

I recently had to bring my 3 year old to the mountain, and the on-site childcare was great. The staff was so nice and accommodating. My daughter had a fun time and met some new friends. At the end of the day, she didn't want to leave, and she kept asking to go back, even after the vacation was over.

I have been going to Mt. Bachelor for about 8 years.  I love the mountain so much I moved to Bend and bought a house 20 minutes away.  Why then only 2 stars you ask?  Because while the mountain is awesome, the customer service and the people running the mountain are not.  Over the last eight years it has only gotten worse.  Poor grooming, poor lift operations (if they open them at all), and really terrible customer service.  Over the last two years the rhetoric has gotten better, but the problems persist.  I am hoping that this year will be better, but I am not optimistic after the poor interactions I have had with customer service so far.  I pray for good snow and that they will get their act together.  (I have to pray because God seems to be the only one who will listen.)

We visited in August and took the chairlift up for a brief hike. Met super nice people who were playing disc golf (they chatted us up until we realized "Oh my gosh, we're totally standing on the course!") and enjoyed the unbelievable view from the top. Even bought a Rescue Dog shirt as a jump on our Christmas shopping! Friendly people and nice, clean facility.

Mt Bachelor is a ski resort in beautiful central Oregon.  It is a quick 30 minute drive from Bend and a 20 minute drive from Sunriver.

Since Mt Bachelor is actually a butte (shaped like a cone), it is unique in that it has a very uniform slope.  You can also ride chair lifts to the summit - even in the summer.

The snow quality here tends to be drier and fluffier than the heavier (Cascade concrete) snow that resorts closer to the coast receive.

The resort has a corporate feel but is very well run and family friendly.  The lift lines usually move quickly.

There are two lodges by the parking lots and another nice lodge at the halfway point of the mountain.

They seem to only open the summit lift on the best bluebird days.  However, when on top, you are treated to a 270 degree view of the surrounding mountains, and get to enjoy the views on the way down.  Hiking up and dropping into the Cirque Bowl (crater) is also fun on powder days.

The consistent grade of the mountain and excellent grooming lends itself to the sport of hard boot snowboarding.

By far the best terrain on the mountain are on the extreme sides of the resort.  Be careful going into the gladed Outback alone - I've been through there a few times and didn't see another person for 20 minutes.

I would recommend this resort as a family ski destination.

I've skied this mountain many times in the past, this past weekend I found that the mountain was what I remember, good snow coverage,Pretty long runs, and lots of runs.

The only issues I had was the lack of grooming on the mountain and the high price for the area.  I had a receipt in my ski pants from Tahoe and it was the same price, to the dollar, as it was at Bachelor, and Tahoe is much better!  I also realize that there was a HUGE snow storm that came in and dumped a bunch of fresh snow on the mountain but the grooming was terrible and only a few of the open runs were actually skiable, which made them packed.

The other issue was that there was low visibility, not the resort's fault, but still an issue with the area.

All in all it was still fun to hit the slopes and cut it up!  And this is the best place to ski in Oregon, 10 times better then Willamette or HooDoo.

Large parking lot.  Easy rental setup - kiosks and individual booths for boots and boards.
Good instructors - patient and attentive.
Really good snowboarding weather half the days we were there.
Cafeteria and equipment shop seems overpriced.
Bar has good brews and food - definitely the place to go if you're hungry and of age.

OK, so I don't know since when "slidding (sic) on smooth ice" is comparable to fun boarding, but I do love Bachelor. Last time I was here we had 50 inches of snow in 6 days and the powder runs were amazing.
The crazy thing is that the slopes were EMPTY. I stopped at one point in the middle of a sweet run and looked up and down the slope and it was just the two of us.  Like having a piece of paradise to yourself.
Bend is one of the fastest growing places in the west, so it probably won't stay this way for long.
