Ehhhh, I have mixed feelings about this place. I ended up here atter my engine almost overheated (and I had to pull over on the on-ramp from VA-27 to 395--I'm just glad all of the SUVs with "witty" VA personalized tags could navigate the interchange) and I needed my car towed to a shop.

On the plus side, they quickly diagnosed what was wrong with the car and the repair was fast.

However, be sure to ask lots of follow-up questions after you get your assessment (such as what you ACTUALLY need--they were going to charge me an extra $250 if I didn't ask things such "Okay, why are you doing this?" or "What absolutely needs to be done to get my car running again and what's just suggested maintainence?'). I think the guy at the shop agreed some of the stuff was overpriced and was nice enough to let me think about it. They also wanted to charge me $125 to install a new thermostat (it's held on by two bolts...is that really going to take that long to replace?!?), but my dad and I were able to negotiate the labor down to $50 on that. But then they called me today suggesting another repair, which I declined.

Basically, not awful but just be sure to call them out on anything that seems overpriced or unnecessary.

This 1 star is so I could write a review. I debated on calling the Better Business Bureau and the VA attorney general's office on these guys.  Long story short: higher priced oil change but they found excuses to not do everything outside of the oil change (no rotation, they didn't even change the oil service clock..FORGOT). Still thought usual crap and returned  for quoted for brakes. Bad idea. Overcharged. When I challenged the 30 or so fee I was told it was for "rags" and cleaning up, I told them that is called overhead. They removed the charge only to ACCIDENTALLY charge me an extra $200 when my card "wouldn't go thru." Suspecting the shenanigans I sat in my car on their lot (not taking possession) until they with the credit card company voided the extra $200...Oh it gets better. Remember the oil change, 1 month later, 4 hours away from home my oil starts pooling out of my car? There was damage to a line the oil actually ate thru a line. If I had tried to drive home the car would've stopped on 95 in the middle of nowhere. UNACCEPTABLE. Don't even go here for the free tire repair.

Place is technically located 2503 N. Franklin Road   Arlington, VA 22201

I had a pleasant experience here, just keep in mind (as with any auto service center): if you know exactly what you want done, they'll do exactly that.  If you're not sure, get a second opinion.  In my case, it was apparent that my car's tires were misaligned and my front passenger tire was worn horribly.  I asked them to install two new tires (price was about $38 more per tire than the cheapest place I could find them--which was online, so I thought it was worth it to buy them here rather than wait to get them shipped), and the price wasn't terrible.

Fortunately, if you want to avoid paying more for your tires here, one of the discount tire websites I visited for my exact tire and brand specifications said that Mr. Tire will put on any tires your order online for $14.50 per tire!

Mounting, rotating, and balance the tires was free, but alignment was $89.95.  I would recommend going to their website and checking out any special promos they have going on to save money.  Other than that, everything was very transparent on my bill (except for a random $8.95 shop supply charge, but to balance that out, the sales tax was way lower--$2 instead of the $14 than I expected), and they didn't quote estimates of any other random fixes on my car like most places do, thank goodness.  I will definitely go back here for future tire maintenance and oil changes.

FREE Flat Tire Repair!  http://www.mrtire.com/...

I recently got a flat tire (I probably hit a nail or something).  I brought the flat tire to Mr. Tire.  They patched it and remount it for FREE!! My car was ready for next day pickup.

This is my 2nd time to Mr. Tire, last time was for a flat and oil change (and they fix some belt thing while they were at it).  I got some random charge on the bill about some misc. removal fees.  O well.  At least I got my flat tire fixed for free.  Apparently I run over nails a lot and pop my tires :)

FYI - They are open 7 - 7 and is a short walk between the Courthouse and Clarendon metro.

Check the promo page before you go, they have a few helpful special.  Like $19.99 oil change, $5 off state inspection

The good:
-They called me once my tires arrived to schedule a time to get them mounted and balanced
-Close to Metro
-Open 7-7, so drop off and retrieval is easy
-Friendly workers
-Didn't push anything on me, but let me know that my rear brakes need some work

The bad:
-Price: mounting and balancing four tires plus oil and alignment ran nearly $200 and their tire prices are terribly high
-Just a hair further to walk than I'd like to if it came to it

No complaints, really, but I wouldn't buy tires here.

Mixed feelings about Mr. Tire. On the one hand, they are friendly and certainly not your typical car service center (a shady place that tries to push you to buy products and services you don't need). However, they're also somewhat pricey and, perhaps due to their popularity or location, tend to be very slow.
I went to Mr. Tire for an oil change on Christmas Eve. Over the phone I was told it would take two hours. Five hours later, they hadn't started on my car, so I retrieved it and brought it back a few days later. They gave me some money back to compensate me for the hassle. Overall a good experience, but a serious pain in the ass.
Since I last visited, I've driven nearly 4000 miles, meaning it's about time for another oil change. I'm going to try someplace else, but I may be back here in the future.

When I had to get new tires, I went here because it was within walking distance of where I used to live at the time [this was 4 years ago].  I had actually researched the tires I wanted to get, but noticed that the guy behind the counter was advising a young girl who was by herself.  He recommended a cheap, but quality tire for her rather than trying to sell her something overly expensive or unnecessary.  Once it was my turn, he was about to recommend similar tires for me, but I interrupted him with my tire of choice.  He smiled and said, "sure thing!"  I felt like I was part of the club and in the know.

I went here also because they had a coupon in those junk mailings -- tires on and balanced within a certain time (I forget how long), or you get a discount.  It took a little longer than expected, and I called them on it.  Sure enough, they gave me the discount...and an apology.

This place is a great deal because if you buy tires from them, they rotate and balance them for life.  Free.  They're pretty good at it, too, because the dealership could never get them balanced quite right as part of those package tune-up deals.  Also, that computerized balancing stuff is otherwise expensive!  For the first time, my car didn't slightly pull in a direction when I drove.

My now-boyfriend also had a flat one night in Clarendon [3 years ago], and the tire nuts were on so tight that it broke my wrench and split one of the nuts.  We had it towed to the Mr. Tire, and all you have to do is park it there and fill out an envelope form available at the front door, drop it in the night slot with the keys...and go home.  In the morning, the car was ready.  Easy and easy.  If you live within walking distance of the area, you can just drop it off at night and pick it up the next day!

I go here often because it's really close to  my house, but I'm usually disappointed with their service.  It's spotty at best.

They frequently forget to call me to notify that my car is ready.
Nearly every time I've had my tires rotated there, they forget to rotate them and I have to go back and get them to do it again.  I mean, it's a freaking tire place.  How do you forget to rotate tires?  It's really obnoxious.  It's happened so often that I take to marking my tires with chalk to make sure they actually did it.

Very pleasant, told me about options that I could get with my tires but did not push them on me.  With mounting and balancing included in the price of the tire, this was tough to beat - I did price comparisons beforehand and Mr Tire came out on top.  Manager David is very efficient, polite, and fast with the car, called me to set an appointment once the tires arrived.  I was early, they got started early and finished early.  Will definitely return, recommend to others too.  Check online for coupons, etc...

First off, I seriously question the legitimacy of any review that gave this place 5 stars.

NEVER GO HERE. ABSOLUTELY NEVER GO HERE.

They rip you off, they don't do good work and they screw with your car if you don't pay for all the bs services they try to sell you. They were condescending and blatantly lied to me about several things. Everything from pricing to when the car would be ready...

3pm "Might get done tonight, if not first thing in the morning."

10am, "oh it's not done yet. "

Noon "Just went in the shop should be done soon"

1:30pm "Going to go in the shop in about 5 minutes." should be done in an hour.

3pm car is finally done.

I guess they were pissed because i didn't want to pay the initial $450+ they quoted me at for 2 new tires. I printed out the coupons and their price match wording and brought it in to get the price down to about $250. They then tried twice to overcharge me and had to go through their purposefully deceptive receipt to get the charges removed. They then tried to have me buy full priced road hazard insurance for the tires i wasn't replacing, at full price even tho the warranty coverage is pro-rated.

I guess they were pissed i didn't fall for their shit  --

Car had perfectly fine alignment before i went in, it now virtually swerves into other lanes. Car had some bumper stickers on it - they've disappeared.

After this experience i spoke with a friend who had an even worse time with these guys - they failed to reattach half a dozen of the lug nuts on his tires.

THESE GUYS ARE SLEAZES - NEVER GO HERE.

I just spent half of my laptop savings on new tires, and I'm not too happy about it. I suppose this is the nature of the beast in owning a car, but why does everything have to be so expensive? Argh.

Anyway, my need for new tires was not Mr. Tire's fault. When shopping for tires, I had absolutely no idea what to look for so I did some research online and found something that looked pretty good. I called Mr. Tire and a super friendly guy answered the phone. I told him the kind of tire I was looking for and he cheerily told me they could order it from their warehouse. He never quoted a price, but he said it would take about an hour to put the tires on.

I had to call back a couple of days later and change my appointment time-- I got the same guy on the phone and again he was super helpful and nice.

So imagine my surprise when I walked in to Mr. Tire on Sunday, ready to see my new friend and hand over a shitton of money, when I'm greeted by the grouchiest tire man I've ever come across (yes, this is only the second tire man I've ever come across.... but he was GROUCHY). He told me it would cost WAY more than I was expecting (about $100 more than any quote I had seen online) and when I asked him about that he said "the price is the price." As I was leaving, I said "Ok, so I'll be back in about an hour, right?" He nearly bit my head off with "NO WAY. It'll be 2 hours, at least." Whoa, okay dude, chill.

I got a call about an hour and 45 minutes later informing me my car was ready and about 15 minutes from that time I was back at Mr. Tire, where the guy proceeded to berate me for coming in right at closing time. Not cool.

Still, my tires are great and it appears they were well-installed. I'd consider coming back to Mr. Tire just for it's convenience, but I'll be sure to try to come on a day when Mr. Nice Phone Man is in the shop.

If I could give them no stars I would. I have lots of problems with the place.
First, I called them to get an estimate to change front brake pads, and they told me that for my car they recommend changing the rotors as well, and after I asked them if they would be able to JUST change the pads, the gentleman said NO. This is bunch of crap, because you don't have to change your rotors every time you change break pads.

The second time I had to go there was to get my tire replaced, and maybe that's why they deserve this one star I gave them. When I was picking up my car with the replaced tire, I asked the gentleman (bald big guy) how much would it cost me to get my oil changed here if I bring my own oil and filter. He said it would be $20 + oil disposal fee (whatever that is). So I thought, great! I rearrange my schedule to work from home, and bring in my car for an oil change. The Baldy is there, and there is also this Mr. Stache the Black dude. So the Stache waits on me this time. I (assuming it's a corporate franchise and pricing is universal) present my problems to the Stache. He stares at the computer screen and punches some keys, and then tells me it's going to be $90 fkng dollars WITH MY OIL AND FILTER. I tried appealing to his reason: the oil change consists of 3 parts(labor, oil and filter). he labor component is always the same--jack the car up, remove the cover, drain old oil. So they have a special oil change for 29 dollars, and you can actually get $10 bucks off of that. Guess what? That $19 dollar change INCLUDES labor, oil and filter. So when I asked the guy if that makes sense to him that he is going to charge me $90 dollars when I supply oil and filter ($60 value), he said that synthetic oil requires more work to change. WHAT????!!!! So essentially, he told me that it is somehow more labor to pour synthetic oil out of a canister than regular oil? WHAT????!!!!
Ok, I get to my second option, I appeal to Baldy-who promised me a $20 dollar change in the first place. Guess what! Baldy said he doesn't remember me, or having said anything like that. Of course he doesn't....And only thick drops of sweat just start appearing on his head.

So I left, and went to some mom and pop garage on Lee hwy where they charged me $20 for my oil change.

That's not all, folks! My girlfriend had her oil change there and they forgot to put the engine lid on, so she drove for 90 miles splashing her oil all over the engine and other components under the hood. When the oil kept burning and smoke kept coming out, I found out what the problem was, and mr. Tire actually admitted they forgot to put the lid on, and cleaned all components and replaced the oil for free for her. How reckless is that!? I mean how hard is it to do an oil change? Why do you have to be an asshole?
When I called my dealership and asked them how much is the oil change there, I was told it's $90 bucks. Considering it cost me $80 to do it last time with all the hassles, I would definitely go to the dealer next time.
Lastly, every time I go by that Mr. Tire I now proudly exclaim: FCK YOU, MR TIRE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My car didn't pass inspection due to a leaky exhaust.  I brought it to Mr. Tire Auto for a quote, they quoted $500 - $1000 as they thought it was near the engine and that would require alot of labor.  I took it to another mechanic and only the muffler needed to be replaced for $300.  I imagine I would have spend all that money and the problem wouldn't have even been resolved.  I left two stars as I realize the specialize in tires, but honestly who can't change a tire?  Just be careful to use them for other auto services, find a good locally owned shop.  I use Dependable Auto in Eldridge, MD.  It's a bit of a hike but they are great mechanics and very trustworthy.  Their # is 410-579-4780.

Mr. Tire is great!  The mechanics are friendly, fast, and as Hyun said not at all pushy or representative of the prototypical slimy mechanic.  They gave me an oil change right away and Rob was nice enough to come over to the coffee shop next door where I was waiting to tell me the car was ready.  I would definitely recommend going here over some of the service places at nearby gas stations.

They are definitely friendly guys here, but they tried to take advantage of me. My brakes failed the DC inspection, so I took the car in for an estimate. Maybe my mistake was wearing a dress (it was a hot day!) and looking like someone who doesn't know cars, but they quoted me at $575, insisting on replacing my rotors and various other things that they said would be necessary to pass the inspection. I'd taken the car to the dealership earlier that week for some recalls on engine parts and had them look at the brakes. They hadn't mentioned anything about rotors, so I was immediately skeptical of Mr. Tire - who, by the way, kept calling me "dear" and "sweetie" on the phone.

I ended up going to Affordable Auto Glass and Body Repair who charged me $105 for the front brake pads. I passed the re-inspection.

Great service and honest mechanics! The service writers are friendly and they don't push you to buy unnecessary service.  They do honest work and their prices are reasonable.  I didn't believe it till my friends recommended this place.  If you need basic services such as wheel alignment or fluid changes, I would definitely recommend this place.
