Let's stop at the weirdo looking town that hasn't made it to this century yet!  Yeah!  What else do we have to do on the way back from Santa Cruz?!

After cruising the Niles Blvd strip, and deciding this is where antiques, bearded bikers and awesome views of cows come to hang out, we stopped at Mr. Mikey's Country Store for sammiches, as advertised in the window.

OHMYGODSOGOODYOUMUSTGORIGHTNOWGETONWITHIT!

I had pastrami on wheat with everything.  Meaning lettuce, mato, mayo, mustard, pickles, onions (RED ONES!!!!), cheese, and lordy knows what else.  It was delish.  I devoured it. Too fast. So good.

The boy had egg salad and it was mighty mighty fantastic.  Big chunks of egg, lightly toasted wheat bread, and just the right amount of mayo.  Now, truth be told, I make my egg salad with green olives, but hey- this was a damn good sammich.

The teen had ham and swiss, and proclaimed it one of the best ever.
He offered no tastes.

Did I mention (no I did not but now I will) that all these terrifically HUGE sammich delights were under 5 bucks?!  HOORAY!  Love that.  Cheap is good.
Especially when it is actually good.

Stop here.
Look at the creek.
Buy antiques.
Eat sammich delights.

I used to live across the street when this was Kesley's.  Though they've changed a lot in the last 15 years, the new owners are very nice.  They have the essentials one might need without having to go to the grocery story and the deli is extremely good.

I recommend trying a tamale from the front register.  Delicious!
