Partied here for my parents anniversary.
It's so nice inside, definitely not decorated by a Chinese person (!). Cool, Asian Modern interior. Dress up to fit in.
The menu is pretty basic, but I did order Lion's Head Meatballs, a dish I don't see on menus very often--kinda ironic, cause it's home cooking at a "fine dining" place. But it was DELISH, every one agreed. Every single one of the Chinese aunties and uncles who commented on my "down home taste" agreed that it was a tasty dish! I definitely recommend it.
Also liked the green onion pancake appetizer (described at Chinese pizza) but it's really more of a flatbread. They did it well.
Altogether I think we ordered 17 dishes and 4 appetizers. And the only reason we had leftovers was we ordered too much.
Other yummies I'd recommend are Spicy Eggplant, Orange Beef, Smoked Duck.
Service was spot on; attentive and correct.

This place oozes class. Calling it fine dining is not a misnomer. The atmosphere is beautiful and well-appointed, with large vases, a waterwall, and other such pieces of more-is-more decor, but never to the point that it seems overdone or trite. Service was generally speedy, especially when you consider that I was dining here on Christmas, when they were one of the few restaurants in Dayton open.
Food is generally American-Chinese, but one of the best examples of the style I've ever had. Sizzling Rice Soup was absolutely superb, the best I've ever had, with an amazing grill flavor permeating the soup in addition to the wonderful toasted rice flavor. As a main course, I had diced pork with pickled vegetables (one of the more authentic dishes on the menu) which was very well done, and every bit as good reheated. Family members who ordered General Tso's and Sweet and Sour Chicken attested to them being among the best they've had.
Also, Mr. Lee, the owner, is extremely gracious and concerned with making sure your party has a wonderful experience, which we certainly did.
Oh, make sure not to miss the green tea ice cream. It's made in-house and better than I've had at any Japanese restaurant, even. -

I agree with most of the positives here, and our service and even being met at the door were all very friendly. It made for a relaxing atmosphere. But I have to take off a star for the long wait for our food. We did not have anything super special, but after the appetizer plates were cleared, we still had a long 15-20 minute wait before our meal arrived.

Well I have only tried the sushi but I thought it was very good. I also liked that the sushi chef liked that I ate sushi with my fingers, so I got approval for that, whatever that means. The sushi selection was varied and decently priced. The rest of the menu was large and had a nice variety.
The place itself was very spacious and clean and seemed very inviting.
I hope he does well in his location. While a number of years ago Poe RD was a restaurant hot-spot the roads have changed so now it takes a round-about way to get there, plus it is not on the "restaurant row" of Dayton that being Dixie Hwy. -

I agree with the poster who said anybody who'd give Mr. Lee's a low rating based on poor food is either nuts or doesn't know what good Asian food is supposed to taste like, or maybe the chef was having the Day from Hell, but regardless. I'm from out of town and Mr. Lee's cuisine is among the best Asian I've eaten anywhere. It's far superior to what I get back in Washington, DC and at least on the same level to what is available in New York's Chinatown, in a much nicer setting because the Dayton economy allows Mr .Lee to have a big nicely decorated space.
I stumbled upon Mr. Lee's by accident when I and some vegetarian friends from NYC were staying in one of the cheesy airport motels for a picnic-reunion event. Given that my friends obviously can't go chow down on food from Steak n' Shake or Hooters or any of the other chains on the motel strip, they asked the motel for an Asian restaurant recommendation and were sent to Mr. Lee's (which also does takeout for bringing back to the motel). They came back raving about the place with two containers of hot peppers and rice, which I tried and then I wanted to go too, so they took me next time. Over a number of visits since then (as we go to Dayton regularly on business and pleasure) they have gotten to know Mr. Lee personally (he's a bit of a world traveler and a mystery man) and I've tagged along with them several times to eat the most excellent food. It's always been a great experience and we have a short list of favorite dishes, particularly the vegetarian and seafood offerings. My faves are, most prominently the Spicy Pot o' Gold (best tofu dish I have ever had anywhere!), the Szechuan Fish and those good ol' hot peppers. If you like spicy, Mr. Lee's can do that and incorporate other tastes too. The result is a gem of a beautifully decorated Asian restaurant located in a very weird setting among industrial parks in an off-the-beaten-path section of Dayton. You'd expect a place like this to be downtown or in a more yuppie-developed area, but I guess everyone who needs to know where it is manages to find it eventually.
My only complaints with Mr. Lee's are that it's not closer to downtown, so I cannot get there to eat when I don't have a car, and have to rely on Thai 9, which is also good but not up to the same level as Mr. Lee's; and also that Mr. Lee's has not evolved to the point of being able to overnight-express me an order of Spicy Pot o' Gold when I am stuck at my office in DC among various much more boring Asian restaurants. For tasty meals, I can't recommend the place highly enough.Listed in: Happy Stomach Land

Good Chinese food is rare in this area. Mr. Lee's not only offers tasty food, but a beautiful, modern, and spacious dining room. I haven't yet tried the Sushi, but intend to (provided the restaurant stays open...seems the good ones are closing left and right, these days).

I Love Mr. Lee's! One of my favorite Asian Restaurants in Dayton. The Sushi is always great and the Hot and Sour Soup is by far the best that I have ever had...ever! The entrees are excellent as well and service is usually excellent.

Started with some Hot & Sour soup, which was rich and delicious. Had one sushi roll just to test it out. Not as good as my place back home and about $1.50 per roll more expensive. I'd only give it 3 stars. Had the Diced Chicken with hot peppers and it was great. The atmosphere is great, very fancy looking and clean. Definitely worth a stop if you're on the north end of Dayton.

For the best Chinese food in this area? Go to Tsao's on Col Glen Hwy. Mr. Lee's is a waste of time and $. If only the food matched the decor. We know what good Chinese food should be.
