These folks are the best! We've used them twice to cover two small rooms in our house and we will use them again.
Even though our jobs were small, they still treated us like important customers and we couldn't be happier.

This is a fabulous company! Mike did not just try and sell us carpet, but really worked with us to make suggestions about flooring choices after a flooding disaster this summer to get us the best possible solution for us. They were helpful when we needed a sample for other furniture and getting our order completed in a timely manner. His installation crew was very professional and did a great job cleaning up when they were finished. We took estimates with others, including some of the big installers in Chicago, and by far, had the best experience and price by Mr. Carpet. I wouldn't bother with other estimates or companies...Mr. Carpet is the best!

Mike is great, but I think Mary is even better (sorry Mike).
I had a great experience with Mr. Carpet. He answered every question we had, went above and beyond to get us some larger samples before we made a final decision and the installation was great.
Never had to call about the status of the carpet or the install. Mary called us when the order was placed, when the carpet was ready, and when the installers were on their way the day of the install. She worked around our family's schedule for the installation, and the installation itself was quick and efficient.
I would highly recommend Mr Carpet! -

These guys are amazing! Mike brought a bunch of samples to me, which was nice and convenient. He's a straight forward kind of guy and I easily found what I was looking for. When I made my decision, I called and Mary ordered the carpet for me. With my plan of installing the carpet before I moved into my new place, Mary was happy to order it and reserve the installation spot for me as I dropped the deposit check in the mail (note, they give a discount for using a check versus credit card).
The installers were on time, polite, and darn fast (though I don't have much to compare them with). I have these heavy organizers in my closet and they carefully cut the new carpet to fit around them. They even vacuumed when they left. I will definitely go back to these guys when I need some new carpet in the future. -

Mike is the best!
Mr. Carpet Shop At Home made installing new carpet in my new condo before I moved in quick, convenient, and easy! When I called to set up an appointment to select a style of carpet, I explained that I had never purchased carpet before and I really didn't know what I wanted. Mike was extremely patient with me and brought a TON of samples. He gave me great guidance and I picked a carpet I'm extremely happy with. Moreover, he followed up with me the very next day to tell me that my first choice of color wouldn't be available from the mill for install before my move in date so I could either a) wait for my first choice and install after I was moved in or b) go with my second choice of color and complete the install as planned before my move in. He definitely went above and beyond to make sure I was getting what I wanted. I ultimately went with my second choice of color to get the install completed before I had all my furniture in the rooms, and I think that was the right decision.
The carpet installers were on time, extremely professional, and did an excellent job. I want to specifically point out that I am amazed and unbelievably pleased that there was not a single nick or chip or mark of any kind on my freshly painted trim. I thought I was for sure going to have to touch up the paint after they ripped out old carpet and installed new; but nope - these guys are flawless!
Finally, Mike called a few hours after my installation to check in and make sure everything went well. Again - above and beyond with the customer service!
Quick tips: they offer a Yelp discount and a small discount for paying by check rather than credit card. Save those hard earned dollars! -

Working with Mr. Carpet was a dream. From our first point of contact through the last detail of the installation, everyone we dealt with exceeded our expectations.
The installation team was amazing and easy to work with, the sales rep was knowledgeable and trustworthy, and their scheduling department was flexible and patient with us as we struggled initially to pin down a date for the final install. I couldn't have asked for a better process nor could I be more pleased with the final results. -

I've got to say that I was originally VERY skeptical about buying carpet from a smaller-sized business. But, I went ahead with it, and figured I'd at least get an estimate. Michael came out and was very friendly and gave us a quick, no-hassle estimate. We were amazed! The price was great!
But, I was most impressed by the installation. The installer (Carlos) and his crew were so nice, considerate, and fast! The workmanship that they did was high-quality. I am pleased!
And, they sent us a nice gift a couple weeks later! Great company, great service, great price! -

I am impressed! i never had to buy carpet before and mr carpet made my first time experience so easy and pleasant.
Sarah, the estimator came to my condo and went over my carpet choices. She went over the differences between the samples and as the other yelpers have mentioned, did not try to steer me towards unnecessary high end carpet.
The workers came on time (and called ahead too), laid carpet padding on the living room before moving the furniture from my bedroom onto the padding. They moved everything back to where i wanted and were done in 2 1/2 hours!!!
Thank you my fellow yelpers for recommending this place!
I don't know if i'll need carpet again but if i do, this is the only place i'll get it from. -

Like many of the other reviewers have indicated, my wife and I had a great experience using Mr. Carpet to install a new carpet in our bedroom almost a year ago. Yes, this review is long overdue!
With only a few days notice, Sarah met us at our new condo to take measurements and have us look at options. She was able to present us with some high quality options that were within our price range and made us feel confident in our choice.
We were working on a tight timeline, but they were able to make it happen with ease. Mr. Carpet's installers arrived within the window that they had given us and were very efficient. They also cleaned up after themselves, which hasn't always happened with other carpet installers we've used.
We were very pleased with the carpet we chose and it is still in great shape almost a year later. Mr. Carpet even followed up with a call to make sure things were done to our expectation and thanked us for using their business.
From the minute we called them until after the job was completed, Mr. Carpet was great to work with and we would definitely use them again.
My wife and I also feel that it is important to support local businesses in the area. Mr. Carpet is a great choice! -

Love Mr. Carpet! Everything from consultation to installation was easy and perfect. Making the appointment was super easy and Mike called to let me know he was going to be able to make it earlier than appointed time which worked out even better for me. Mike made some good recommendations for the carpet that we were getting leading to the stairs and the prices seemed reasonable. I liked the fact that we were giving a local company our business. The installation was fast and courteous and I was happy with the result. I would definitely use them again in the future!

I highly recommend this company. I used Mr. Carpet to install carpet in an entryway of our condo building. The quote came in the lowest and the scheduling worked out great for us. The salesman (Michael, I think) came out and we looked through all the samples he had (we were looking at berber only) and he helped me choose one that will last a long time and that was on the less expensive end of the scale. The installer came out on a Saturday (his request, and easier for me) and spent all day at the job making sure the carpet was just-so. We encountered one issue of the inside door not closing due to the height of the carpet and the metal strip, we worked together to come up with a solution and he fixed it before he left. Next time I have flooring needs, either with the association or at my home, I will be calling Mr. Carpet.

I had an extremely positive experience with this carpet vendor. Mike, the owner, was extremely pleasant to deal with and thorough when he came for the initial consultation, bringing several samples to choose from and offering his professional opinion (in a helpful manner). Also of importance to note, he gave me a very competitive price. His installers arrived on time, were professional and efficient and did a fantastic job! I would highly recommend Mr Carpet shop at Home and if i am in need of carpet in the future, will definitely call on this company again!

I selected Mr. Carpet after wonderful yelp reviews to carpet an investment property of mine. Their service was fast, responsive and zero hassle. No sales tricks, all-inclusive (and straight-forward) pricing. The prices are what they are and they will work with you (in your home) to show you samples that meet both your needs and your price. I would recommend their services. The installation crew was fast, efficient and respectful.

We had our entire bottom floor recarpeted after a sewage drain back-up disaster (p.u.!) following the big rain from July 2010.
After getting an uncompetitive price from one of the Big Two and having a bad experience nailing down a final quote from the other (which kept moving up with each subsequent conversation), we went with Mr. Carpet based on a combination of the user reviews here, a friend's recommendation, and the positive in-home visit from Mike, the owner (who is a Big Two alum).
The carpet was installed by just two guys who did a very fine job. It's cut well, it's laid well and it is a very comfortable plush to walk barefoot on. They did the job in about five hours and the added bonus was that the carpet chemicals yielded that unique new home smell. So I was pleased with the install job.
The reason I'm giving four stars instead of five was that there was a bit of a tense experience discussing the need for an additional installer to lay the carpet. I have a big piece of gym equipment that I was told during the quote process would require an extra person; however, the installation supervisor who reviewed the situation said he felt it could be moved no problem, not indicating that it was out of the ordinary or in need of additional help to deal with. I discussed his findings with the owners who continued to insist the extra person was needed, despite the supervisor's comments, and truthfully I felt a bit of tension during that call. When they ended up sending only two guys after all, yet still charging for an extra installer on the invoice, we pointed this out to them and they ended up adjusting the extra fee off the invoice without any additional pushback. So while it did work out for us in the end, I was surprised at the difficulty in having the conversation about it in the first place.
Nevertheless, I would be willing to recommend Mr. Carpet and to use them again. The price and workmanship was quite good for the price, even though it is not the least expensive alternative. -

This was my first time purchasing carpet. I was also in a unique situation (my carpet was only 2 years old and I thought I was doing my cousin a favor by letting her rent out my place and she completely destroyed it). Sarah was very knowledgeable, professional, and extremely friendly. She didn't push me to go any certain way but she did give me all my options. She even came back to show me a new line of carpet they got in after my estimate. I had a couple others come give me an estimate but Mr. Carpets superb customer service and their fair pricing led me to choose them. The whole experience from beginning to end was excellent and hassle free. This really helped alleviate some stress from my horrible situation. This was definitely a case of Mr. Carpet to the rescue. :)

They were very well rated in Angie's List and I used them to install an engineered wood floor in my condo. The existing floor which they matched is a glue down product which is very labor intensive. They did an excellent job with the installation; the clean up was marginally ok. The glue is messy and gets all over; furthmore, unless you look at it in just the right light you don't see it. They spent several hours cleaning up and still managed to miss quite a bit of glue.
All things considered I believe the price was fair and the installation excellent. If I were doing it over I would do a floating floor which is much easier to install and does not use glue - but we learn only from our experiences -

We used Mr. Carpet for 3 jobs this past year in our new home and I can't say enough good things about this company. They are SUPER fast and efficient and the work was excellent. We had the entire home redone and the price was competitive. I can't believe how quickly they did the work as well. I am very happy with the results and in the future we will not hesitate to use them again.

What a great experience. Mr. Carpet was recommended by a friend who went on and on about them. I called them and they scheduled a visit right away. I had carpet installed in a new house I was buying. Mike came out showed us several samples of carpeting. We needed the carpet before moving into our new house. He completely guaranteed that it would be in by the time we needed to move. He even called one day before to ensure it would be there.
The carpet came, was installed and looked great. We also got stair runners and when the carpet installer came to install, he noticed it was measured incorrectly. He contacted Mr. Carpet to let them know and within days they had it recut and installed. It looks great.
The price was very competitive. I shopped around looking at carpet for a long time. The customer service is wonderful. Mike and Mary seem to be a great team. I will forever recommend them as well as buy any carpet from them again.
We are so pleased with our purchase. We are typically anti-carpet people (we really like the look of hardwood) but this was the best money we have spent on our house yet! -

We ordered carpet for 2 bedrooms in our condo, and were very pleased with the results. The install guys were great; on time, easy to work with, and installed our carpet wonderfully. The only reason I did not give a full 5 stars is that the day of the quote, the owner Mike showed up 1 hour late. Despite this fact, we would use Mr. Carpet Shop at Home again.

I wish I could jump on board with all the positive reviews but can't. Do feel the owner is a nice man. We are disappointed with the quality of the carpeting. Would have been willing to spend more money so that is not the issue. We have had the carpeting pulling out on the edges. We called the store and the owner did come out. He told us the type of carpeting we have on occasion needs a "hair trim" around the edges. Well we are frequently trimming and if it keeps up I fear we are going to have "bald spots" all around the edges. It may be the type of carpeting we purchased but we would have liked to have known the possibility of the carpet threads pulling as they are. I take my heels off as soon as I come home because of the concern of a heel catching and pulling out a thread. We'll try to be careful and keep the carpeting for the next 5 years or so. Can't see it lasting any longer than that. Next time we'll go elsewhere for our carpeting.

We opted to go with Mr. Carpet after meeting with Mike and being impressed by his candor, flexibility, and knowledge (and his prices seemed good too!). He had lots of options to show us and was very easy to work with. The staff in the office (Mary and Sarah) were fantastic as well - they provided updates on the delivery of our carpet and quickly responded to a few questions that I had.The installation crew was great - very professional, tidy, fast, and on time. We had three large rooms carpeted plus closets, and the crew moved all our big furniture and put it back exactly where they found it. I don't have another company to compare Mr. Carpet to since this was our first time getting carpet, but given my experience I would certainly consider using them again. The carpet we ended up with is a bit darker than we expected, but it looks awesome and is a huge improvement over what was in our place when we moved in.

My wife and I found Mr. Carpet by chance while Googling various Chicagoland carpet installation companies. Like another reviewer mentioned, we were a bit cautious and skeptical about calling a smaller-sized company, but were immediately blown away by the integrity of the owner, Michael. He is understanding, thorough, and works really hard to understand what we want. Two nights now, he has brought over a car full of runner samples and has had extreme patience as we search for the perfect color and style for our taste. One thing that really stood out for me is when Michael asked me what kind of feeling we want to have when we walk into our home every day and see our stairs. What a great design question. He even played with our baby son and read him books while I took an hour to look at samples! I feel like Michael really wants me to be happy and has a truly artistic approach to his work. Sometimes it's easy to find people who are good technically at their trade; however, it is more difficult to find those who understand and appreciate the aesthetics of design.
Note: We are giving Mr. Carpet 5 stars and we haven't even chosen our runner yet!! A great company - by far, the best I've worked with in my 12 years in Chicago.
