A great mom and pop video rental place. They've moved twice in the past couple of years and are now in an office building with very limited hours. They were a regular neighborhood rental place but had to change to keep up with Netflix, Blockbuster, and Hollywood Video. They have a monthly membership/unlimited rentals policy. Basically you pay $15-25 a month for 2-5 rentals at a time. Kind of like Blockbuster now. The owner Roland can be surly sometimes but boy does he know his stuff about movies. They can find pretty much any film for you if it was released on video tape, laser disc, or dvd in the world. Their focus is on documentaries, film noir, classics, cult, underground, good t.v. shows,and very obscure films. They try not to stock main stream Blockbuster crap. For example, I think they have most of the Criterion Collection in stock to rent and a few Kenneth Anger shorts available as well.
If you live in the East Bay, please stop by. Keep them open. -

Although it's been a while, my memory is clear
about the clerk's disdain, his irritated sneer.
Insulted and embarrassed me, for doing nothing more
than renting movies, popular ones -- at this little store.
This was no one-time problem, it happened quite a lot
so much so I refused to keep on going to this spot.
Their prices were good, quite a big selection, and their picks
were interesting. Too bad those employees were such d*cks. -

If you can't talk the talk, go somewhere else or learn how to deal with the snottiness. I had good luck with the hit and run method- Get in, get what you need, and get the hell out. Exact change helps minimize conversation.
I give it an "A" for their collection, but the 'F' for bad attitude brings the overall rating down.
