seriously- they are AWESOME. they literally do run.
it was between them and pro movers. i found that they were a little cheaper and it was easier to set up the appointment with them then pro movers. Everything was very efficient from the start to finish.
I filled out the web estimate survey and shortly thereafter i received an estimate from angie. The estimate was dead on. I was also ecstatic that i didn't have to rent a uhaul- a few days before the move date they contacted me letting me know that they would be able to provide a truck for an additional $40 which would have cost me about the same at Uhaul.
I think my movers names were Jeff and Tommy?? They were great and super professional.
I would HIGHLY recommend this company.

In August I moved from a garden to a 3rd floor apartment and had the most pleasant moving experience a girl could ask for.
Now, of course there was stress and sweating and hard work, but overall I was thrilled.
I got a timely, fair quote. The guys showed up early (only after calling me to see if I was ready to roll). They were friendly, fast (literally RAN between every trip), and even complimented me on my organization! They accommodated my request to pop in at my boss's couch and pick up an additional sofa that wasn't in the original plan/quote. Nothing broken, lost, or damaged.
They finished early and under their quote, which earned them a fat tip of course!
Yelp lead me to these gents and I'm glad that they did. My move was completed quickly and professionally in 30 minutes less then the quoted time.
The two guys showed up right at the scheduled time, helped me maneuver my massive U-Haul into loading docks, down narrow streets, and backing into parking spots.
It would be nice if their service had their own truck, but overall having to rent the U-haul saved me a lot of money, even if it was a pain in the ass to drive.
I would recommend these guys to anyone making a move.
Movetastic quite bombtastic! I made a request in the middle of the week for a Saturday move and got pretty quick response from the coordinator. Estimate was for 2 people for 2.5-3 hours, but instead I got 3 people but it only took an hour and a half!
Austin and crew were all very polite and absolute beasts when it came to handling big boxes quickly and carefully - I did confirm they were also running back and forth when loading and unloading. I also rented the truck and they had tons of padding for my items and also for the nice passenger elevator at my end location.
In the end, all of my stuff got to my new place quickly and safely in an hour and a half and ended up being $190 (hour and a half for 3 people + truck rental) + tip (thanks for the tipping guidelines on the site!). Would definitely use Move-tastic again!

Moved my crap from a storage unit into a 3rd floor condo on Labor Day. Two guys and myself (note that I busted my ass too in order to help with time). Total was $100 and I tipped the guys well. They moved everything without so much as rubbing a dresser corner on the deck.
We moved to Chicago from San Francisco & have been looking for a local go-to moving company for our business. Man, are these guys professional, quick and reasonably priced. We needed furniture moved from the Loop out to Oak Park & Move-tastic completed the job in LESS THAN AN HOUR and for less than $200 total. As other Yelpers have said, these movers actually RUN from the freight elevator to the truck. We will be calling them again. Excellent service.
Wow, these guys were amazing. I had one week to find movers and the receptionist Angie was very helpful. She even requested to move up the time by half an hour (from 7:30am to 7am) since she wanted to make sure the guys had enough time to load my stuff before their next appointment at 11am.
Friday, 7am - these guys all showed up right on-time. Awesome. They were very organized and after seeing all the stuff in the garage and condo, they went straight to work. They had one guy directing and the other 3 guys were running up and down the stairs. They were so polite...saying "excuse me" when they needed to get around us.
I expected the loading to take 3.5 hours...but they were done in 2.5 hours. I was DEFINITELY IMPRESSED. It's great to find guys that have a solid work ethic. All the other movers that I researched had horrible reviews on yelp -- i.e. they dragged their feet and took much longer than the estimates. We did get compliments on our packing and wrapping with furniture pads from the guys. Said it made their lives a lot easier.
4 guys at $120/hr....well worth it! It's too bad that I moved out-of-the-state because I would love to use them again when I have to move!

Seriously though, these guys are real-world super heroes. For example:

PULLEY-ANA : Beneath his mild-mannered exterior lies a genius in the field of quantum sofa mechanics. Faced with a inertia-resistant couch of seemingly infinite mass, Pulley-ana quickly rigged a complex series of pulleys and ties that safely lowered the behemoth to the ground off a 2nd floor balcony.
ROLLING ROCK: Like Ali, this guy is so fast that when he turns the light off at night he's in bed before it gets dark. When this guy builds up speed he can't be stopped. Just sit back and marvel as your boxes fly quickly, but safely to and from the moving truck. His speed, along with the rest of the crew, simply defies comprehension. After all, aren't guys who work by the hour supposed to move SLOWER? In fact my entire move including loading, unloading, and furniture arranging (how about a little to the left...), took less than 2.5 hours.
So the next time you want a fast, stress-free move at a reasonable price, screw the bat signal and flick on the Move-tastic signal. A crew of supermovers will be at your service in no time.
Everyone else has pretty much covered it, but I felt compelled to add my two cents, just because I really, really want this company to succeed.
When they say it's an "athletic moving company," they are not joking. The young strapping men they send look like triathletes. They do really run - lope, even. They are genuinely nice. Everything you've heard is true.
Even when we ran into a little snag (my apartment company, in its infinite wisdom, decided to paint the DOORFRAMES to my apartment, rendering the Move-tastic boys unable to get my sofa in without ruining it with black paint), they handled it with aplomb. One of the movers kept apologizing, even though the problem had nothing to do with him. It all turned out fine - we just left the sofa in the hallway and I moved it in later after the paint was dry.
I also underestimated how much crap I had and got way too small of a Uhaul, but they didn't bat an eye- they just threw my sofa in the back of their pickup truck, no questions asked.
Hiring Move-tastic is like hiring your friends to help you move - if you had really nice, fast, superhumanly strong friends who didn't bitch about carrying boxes up stairs. Their prices are also very reasonable. My move took 3 hours to the minute (even with the sofa/doorframe snafu), and after tip and everything included, it was $300 (worth noting: I did have to rent my own Uhaul, but that's not a big deal).
You shouldn't really waste your time checking out other companies. Just call Move-tastic. Where else have you seen almost ALL FIVE-STAR REVIEWS?!
Say you need to move a 16 foot Budget truck load of boxes up 34 steps on a 93 degree Chicago summer day, unfortunatly, there isn't an app for that, but if there was, it would be Move-tastic!
From start to finish, the experience was fantastic. The quote was accurate and reasonable. On moving day, the move went great. The two men showed up on time and could have accomidated me earlier. They were both very professional and respectful of my belongings. Like the other reviews, they do run!
I highly recommend them and will use them for future moves.

They were running late due to a longer than expected move before mine and called multiple times to apologize and update me on their status. They also waived the transportation fee to make up for it.
Why 4 Stars?
The only hitch is that you have to get your own truck (they only have a couple). It probably ends up making it cheaper in the end anyway. Also, most moving companies shrink wrap your valuables/couches/tables and they do not do that.
Simply a load and unload moving company.

Move-tastic! has done it again! It started off with Pete and Pat (the original Move-tastic duo) moving me three years ago, now they have a whole team. I have used Move-tastic ever since! Great guys, hard workers, quick and at a good price. These guys will not let you down! Use them!

Ok, let's see...where do I begin? I just used Movetastic this past saturday (Aug 1). Found them on yelp and based on the overload of 5 stars and the description that they actually RUN between loads, I thought I have to use this company.
This was purely a last minute decision. After my initial contact, my fiance and I had a temporary lapse in sanity and thought, well if we cant find movers to move us in the morning, we'll do it ourselves. After some phone tag btwn myself and Movetastic, Angie (scheduler/life saver) called on saturday to apologize that we kept missing eachother. I asked her literally at about 12:30 if they had any spare hands, she checked with the available teams, and indeed they did.
I got a call from my new best friends, Austin and Daniel in about 5 minutes. They were finishing up one job, wanted to have a brief lunch, and would be at my new place in 2 hours. They kept in touch and were there as they said they would be.
Ladies and gentleman this was truly something to watch. I sat in the living room, directing boxes, furniture, food, booze, books, clothes, etc. And, I was sitting not just b/c I was exhausted, but b/c I needed to have some space to marvel at how hard these guys worked. They run, they move with lightning speed, and they're nice/funny while doing it. (I dont even need to mention that they had cool hair).
I am sure that there are other dependable movers in the city, BUT if you're looking to support a very smart, upstart company with dedicated and hard working employees, please do go with Movetastic. I HIGHLY recommend them.
They are conscientious with your goods, very fast, seem to enjoy the intense cardio. They finished all of my stuff in one hour.

After seeing just a mere week before my move that my movers had one of the worst ratings on Yelp (I know, I know why didn't I check before) and freaked out. I called around until I hit Move-tastic and they were SO nice and understanding they fit me in as their last move of the day even though they were technically booked for the day. They were helpful and communicative about the whole move.
They showed up exactly on time and truely, as the other reviews have stated, RAN up and down those stairs. That being said, they ended up way under the quote they gave me which got them a big tip from me!
I don't plan on moving again anytime soon, but will definitely be recommending these guys to everyone who needs them.
Moving was stressing us out, and of course all our friends were mysteriously busy come moving day, so we called up Move-tastic. With only 2 days notice, they were able to send out the best.
3 minutes early, two of the smiliest people I have ever met show up at my door and are nicer to me than my own grandma. These dudes were absolutely joyful to lift heavy junk in the hot sun! They are inexpensive, witty, and yes they actually do RUN from the truck to your door. I can't believe how happy I was with this service, because I can get quite "b!tchy" when it comes to my stuff.
Large Tips all around, I'll be using you again.
made a reservation pretty last minute; was given an incredibly fair quote for loading my truck and the movers were really accommodating to my schedule.
the movers who came to move me were on time (like, to the second), careful with my things, incredibly friendly and personable, and finished UNDER the time they quoted me (which was reflected in the final bill).
i can't say enough great things about these guys. after having been burned by movers again and again, i finally found a great company (if only they had a location in boston!)

I was moving ONE block...yup, one block...and I was living in a studio at the time, so I didn't have much to move. They made two trips in the elevator and that was about it. When I made the appt. I was quoted less than an hour, since it was such a short distance and frankly I didn't have SHIT to move. but it took TWO hours...for one block (and a STUDIO!)??????? Seriously?
Also, there were a couple chips on my dresser and entertainment center.......anddddd the two guys I had weren't very personable. Maybe it was just a long day for them, I don't know.
I think I'll be shopping around for a new company next time around.
AHHH!!! I love, love, love these people.
It is a universally acknowledged truth that moving sucks. Big time. In fact, while carrying empty boxes home last week in preparation for the Big Day, a stranger on the street sympathetically called out to me, "HEY! You're moving? That is one of the worst things you'll ever have to do in your life" (Like I didn't know that).
Enter Simon and Chris, my fantastic Move-tastic movers. As if lugging furniture were simply a weekend pastime for these guys, they brought box after miserable box down 4 flights of stairs (no air conditioning, by the way, and the hallway in my old building smells like old cabbage) with big, warm, silly grins on their faces. They were gracious and efficient. Get this, Yelpers: The time that they quoted was exactly (to the minute) accurate. Since I had budgeted a little extra (who doens't go OVER the time they quote?), I just added the surplus onto the guys' tips. They expertly filled the truck with stuff and nothing broke (even a large, precariously packed flat panel TV).
The only (miniscule) shortcoming is that this company only has one truck, which apparently gets booked up pretty quickly. This just meant that my boyfriend and I had to operate a 17' U-Haul even though we don't normally drive (little scary... not gonna lie).
The moral of this story? If you are planning on moving anytime soon, give these people a call RIGHT NOW. They will surely be turning away business before long with this caliber of service.

Angie was great at getting things scheduled and answering all of my many questions.
Flash forward to moving day, and as promised, Dan called 15 minutes before arrival. He and Marcus were right on schedule and had my belongings loaded in the truck in record time. (Running/sprinting for the whole thing.) They were extremely careful with my stuff, taking time to wrap the fragile stuff (coffee table glass, TV etc) in padding, and after the unload, not one thing was broken. They even set up my bed!
I hate moving, but these guys made a stressful process a delight. I cannot recommend them enough! Book them NOW!

Used them for my move in May. These guys were great, running up and down a move from a 3rd floor place to a 2nd floor place (and being their 4th move of the day). beat their estimated time. Good value and good thinkers on alternative plans if you run into snafus on your moving day. Plan to use them and pay the bump in price for my next move in the burbs. Wouldn't go with anyone else!
If you live in Chicago, you need to hire these movers. I am blown away by the exceptional service we received this past weekend! It was move-tastic indeed -- they absolutely live up to their name!
I was really stressed about moving, but they were very careful with all of our stuff and made the move completely painless, and affordable! The hourly rate is a bargain: $80 for 2 people, $100 for 3 people. We estimated that it would take them 3-4 hours to move our 1 bedroom plus den apartment. Nope, 2 hours on the nose! I was amazed at how quickly they were able to move us -- they RAN back and forth from the truck and elevator. What movers do you know that do that?
They should open up branches in other cities. I don't think I could ever use another mover.
Wow, I hate to be one of the non 5-star reviews, but so it goes.
Yes, the movers were quick and friendly -- yes, they ran in between loads of boxes. But...
I hire movers because A) I'm lazy and B) I expect them to be be good movers and protect my stuff.
Unfortunately, as quick and friendly as they were, there were still some glaring issues I had with the service.
And really, I feel bad for even complaining, because they are definitely good movers for a good price, but the way they loaded my truck was haphazard at best -- about as good as I could do, but if I wanted a mover that could do as good as I can, I wouldn't hire movers, I'd do it myself.
For instance, we had one particular box that was heavily labeled as VERY FRAGILE and begged NOT TO PUT ANYTHING ON TOP of said box. When we went to unload our truck in the next town, that box -- which housed a 100 year old, extremely-fragile lamp, had a 40 pound TV nestled on top. Yikes. Luckily, nothing was broken, but simply paying attention to what the box said could have earned another star.
In the end: would I use them again? Yes. But I'd also play closer attention to how they were packing my truck.
These guys are simply great. I was 45 minutes late to showing up with my rented truck and they didn't start the clock until we got there. On top of it all they were extremely polite and assured me it was no big deal that I was late.
I had booked 2 hours and they got everything in the truck in under 1 hour and they only charged me for 1 hour! They were extremely professional and cool guys. I would hire them again but I no longer live in Chicago.
I highly recommend these guys!

i had a studio full of surprisingly heavy room and board furniture that needed to get put into our lovely u-haul. i booked someone else for the job, but after seeing all the rave reviews on yelp, i decided it was in my best interest to go with movetastic. one of my better life decisions if i do say so myself.
after a really simple reservation process that i did all by email (they are SUPER responsive by email), the day of the move arrived and the guys showed up exactly on time. they were friendly, funny, and expertly moved all of my furniture into the truck in exactly one hour! all for a very fair rate.
i plan to never move again in my entire life - but if YOU are moving and need movers, call move-tastic!

These guys were so polite, so prompt and so fast! Lightning fast! They called to let me know when they were on their way, called to let me know they'd be 10 minutes late because of traffic and showed up exactly when they said they would.
Three guys showed up and they weren't your typical movers. Three skinny guys and I was a little worried. I almost asked if they were the advanced team and their fathers were on their way to do the actual move. But dang if they weren't super strong, organized and fast.
I can't emphasize enough how fast they were! Literally running with boxes (nothing that was fragile, of course).
I was quoted between 3 and 4 hours and in three and a half hours they were done. $350 well spent. Don't forget to tip them!!
There's no reason to even considering hiring any one else to do a move in the Chicago area. They're unbelievably fast, which makes them exceptionally affordable - they did my move in about half the quoted time.
I will agree with the few non-five-star reviews, however, that you're going to want to keep an eye on things that are fragile and maybe make a point of asking them to take extra care with those items or boxes - they move so quickly that I don't think there's a lot of reading for box tops that goes on, and there's a risk of things getting banged up in the process. Still - asking them to slow down with a few items is very literally a small price to pay.
Move-tastic was the least stressful part of my move.
First off, they have amazing customer service. Whatever formula they have come up with to figure out how long it will take to move you in and out of your apartment was spot on. There is no deposit required and when I thought that it might take an extra hour, because I had yet to box up all my stuff when I made my reservation, they added on the extra hour.
Simon and crew called when they anticipated being late, but they ended up being on time anyway. Even though U-Haul is a bunch of losers and the truck had yet to arrive at my apartment Simon and the guys just started moving boxes down my four flights of stairs, setting everything up to be moved right into the U-Haul once it got there.
Yes. These guys run. They also are amazingly nice and funny. They didn't even get pissed when my roommates annoying friend showed up and started getting in their way. Then when my cat freaked out and escaped the room I was keeping her in, they offered to help me get her out of the loft and were genuinely worried about her.
They also know how to pack a truck, my whole huge apartment fit into a 17 foot truck, even when I thought it wouldn't. Also, it took the exact amount of time THEY had estimated, which made my three bedroom, three bookcase, one couch, 40 boxes, 6 totes, 1 ELLIPTICAL MACHINE, and various other huge item move super freaking cheap. If it wasn't for Move-tastic I would have been moving from 10 am to to midnight.
I was relaxing in my new apartment at 2pm and I didn't even have to break a sweat.

Cory and Cole arrived exactly five minutes early to help us unload a truck we'd packed ourselves up to the third floor this past Monday. Like great dentists, they were friendly, charming, quick, and gentle. Very attentive to our instructions and preferences on things that were odd-sized or fragile.
It started pouring outside in the middle of our move, and they had come prepared with a) giant sheets of plastic to protect our stuff that was already outside, and b) immediate tactical plans for maximizing productivity while saving the more water-sensitive items until the rain let up.
Obvs they came in under budget as well... but hands-down, the most worthwhile thing we've spent money on during this move. Well done, guys!
This should have actually been my first Yelp review. But first or one-hundred-and-first review, one thing remains the same - Move-tastic is great. Though when I moved with them back in June, they were Smooth Moves (so that changed).
I was moving from my former two bedroom Hades (I mean arrangement) to my current one bedroom Nirvana on short notice (my roommate told me about three weeks before he moved out). I had just gotten back from a road trip to Washington D.C. and moving was the last thing on my mind; but Smooth Moves found time to squeeze me in. Though it did take me asking for an extra week in my old apartment (since they're relatively part-time and only move people in the evenings after their full time jobs) to find a time they could move me.
Certain aspects of the move seemed shady over the phone; but I promise anyone who uses them it's not. The quote they give is pretty accurate (they were actually one minute quicker than promised) and they show up mostly on time - in a full sized truck which fit my entire half of a large two bedroom apartment (one load). There is a surcharge for stairs so be prepared (third floor to third floor made the move a bit more expensive).
These guys move things fast. The employees use moves as cross training for triathalons and marathons. They barely broke a sweat moving things that exhausted me just to look at; and they'll also dispose (of pretty much anything legal) and arrange if it fits in the schedule.
The reason this should have been my first review was at the end of every move they ask people to Yelp them. When they asked back in June, I asked myself, "what is this Yelp thing?" But six months and 60% of my social life later, I still stand behind them and their somewhat coerced reviews. They earn all the word of mouth they can get - internet or no.
Do I really need to add another 5-star review to this list? Probably not, but my boyfriend and I were so impressed with Move-tastic! that I will anyway.
We wanted to get our move done and over with as soon as possible, so we had the guys show up at 7am. They called at 6:30, just to confirm, and arrived right at 7 as promised. We had packed some of our smaller items--boxes and such--on our own the night before just to make it go a little quicker, and Move-tastic was totally ok with this. I expected them to tell me they need to move everything for some random reason, but they said they were cool with anything that made our move quicker and cheaper! So anyway, the guys got right to work and were incredible. Perfect planning on fitting all our items into the truck, and they were speedy! Literally running between our house and the truck, they managed to move two people (load, drive, and unload) in just 2 hours! They even had a pickup truck so they put a few additional items in the back of their truck for us. How convenient.
They really just made our move so easy. Everyone was great--Angie was superb with organizing the move via phone and email (I love businesses that use email so efficiently), and I can't remember our movers names, but they were fantastic also. Friendly yet professional. We will be contacting them again for our next move.
I don't usually post reviews on yelp, but I wanted to quickly write about my terrific experience with Move-tastic!. I don't think I've had such a positive experience with a company in many years. We had to move a couple of miles from an apartment in Uptown to a house in Lincoln Square. The service is priced very competetively. Move-tastic! guys were professional, helpful, and efficient. They went above and beyond what we expected - they stayed afterwards to help us unpack, put large boxes in storage, and assemble furniture. As stated in other reviews - they literally run when moving furniture. Would highly recommend this company.
Move-tastic, you stay classy! Don't get big and unruly like some other moving companies. Stay small and hungry!
How could anyone give these guys a 2 star rating? Based on my wonderful experience with them, that review just doesn't ring true.
Moved 2 bedroom apartment from lakeview to bucktown for total cost of $260. It took exactly three hours. These guys hustle, and are very personable,well-behaved, and conscientious. Daniel and Austin, thanks for a great move.
Just used Move-tastic for another move, and they were just as great as last time; two laid back dudes that were efficient, friendly, and really helpful when we hit some snags in the move. They even found me a new storage place when the one I was scheduled to go to closed early. Problem solvers and philosophers. Would recommend them to anyone.

My girlfriend and I were only moving a few blocks away, but did not really have the time or the desire to carry all of our own furniture, so we called Move-Tastic. Angie was very prompt and professional, communicating via telephone, and email, to coordinate a quote and then an official appointment. Daniel and Greg arrived right on time (Daniel? Greg? Daniel Greg! They ARE the James Bond of movers!). They were enthusiastic, energetic, and very polite. The whole move took 30 minutes less than was estimated, which resulted in a smaller bill. What moving company do you know that busts their asses in order to save their customer $40? I didn't think it existed. But Move-Tastic is honest, and fair, and they did exactly that. As long as I live in the city of Chicago, these guys will be my movers. I'll never give it a second thought.
They're a young start-up company and they're determined to be different from the industry--it shows. Amazing customer service, attention to detail, and all-around courteous--3 attributes so rare in moving companies.
I'm telling all my friends and now you Yelpers- if you're moving in Chicago, don't even think about using anyone but Move-tastic!

Then we arrived at my new place, which is four zig-zag flights up with a very round about route to reach the stairs. They were done with that portion of my move in just an hour and 15- including time to remove and reattach my bedroom door.
The whole time during the move, the guys pushed each other to go faster. "come on brother!" was a phrase I heard a lot. Amazingly enough, it looked like they were ENJOYING moving my stuff up four flights in 85 degree weather!
At $80/hr for two guys, this was BY FAR the most reasonable quote I got. Several other moving companies quoted me $475+. Don't let the fact that you have to get the truck sway you. This was easy peasy at the local Uhaul and I ended up spending $30 total on the truck.
I cannot say enough good things about my experience with Move-tastic. These guys deserve five stars and then some!
I helped my friend move the other day and she hired two movers from Move-tastic. They were great! They got the job done quickly, were very friendly, and the price was extremely reasonable. I would absolutely use them for my own move.
Move-tastic is amazing, that's all I can say. They helped me out when I was freaking about my new condo's no weekend/holiday policy when other movers were trying to charge me an arm and a leg.
The move was totally fast...an hour to load (and that's including the massive game of tetris they had to play getting all my crap in a teeny tiny truck), and 1.5 to unload including elevator time! They also didn't break or scratch anything, which is a definite bonus.
On top of all that, they were really fun to have around. So yeah, hire these guys!
If you are looking for movers, call off the dogs, your search is over. Move-tastic is THE BEST. Tommy, Austin, and Daniel were extremely professional and super fast. Seriously, these guys hustled something fierce. They took very good care of my belongings and were fun and friendly to work with. At first I was like, "I have to get my own truck...really?" but it was so worth it. Their estimate for both time and money was right on target and their rates were VERY reasonable. This is the first time I've used movers, and I've heard horror stories, but I had a great experience and will use these guys for all of my moving needs in the future. Have extra cash on hand because you'll want to tip them big time.
