Mountain Lyon Cafe
3 reviews for Mountain Lyon Cafe
I was up visiting cardiologist in Aspen when I decided to stop by. This is one of those places where you can tell the food is home-made, but wonder how the heck they can put so much time into preparation for such a small place.
Before my appointment I had the ham and cheese, 3 eggs, cheeseburger soup, sourdough toast and a few or 5 BLTs... everything I got was so tasty.. all came out steamin' with cheese coming out from everywhere I ordered it to be. A+ for a cafe/diner.
Let me start by saying the only reason this place doesn't get a higher rating is because the prices are a tad high. $9 for a breakfast burrito and hash browns? Come on now.
That said, the food is quite tasty. Good breakfast burritos (green chili is kind of weird, though. I think it has beef in it). Pancakes are big and fluffy. French toast is made from Texas toast, and who doesn't like foods with "Texas" in their names? I can't think of any other such foods, but I'm sure there must be some.
This place is definitely a Silverthorne institution. Locals and tourists (and weekend warriors, like ourselves) flock there for breakfast. Decor is...well-loved. It is full of live plants, though, and I think that has to be good feng shui or something.
They also have quite a few veggie entrees, which is good to see.
So you wake up early in Dillon and your ready for a big day of powder but need some food in your belly. Mountain Lion Cafe in Silverthorne is the place for you. There may be a wait but it is TOTALLY worth it. Look for daily specials on the white board while you wait to get seated. It is a small, cozy cafe. You can hear the sound of utensils hitting the plates from outside. Prices are reasonable and service is pretty good. The menu has the typical breakfast items, eggs, pancakes, waffles etc... The chicken fried steak and gravy is to die for. (heart attack) but it's worth it!
