I visited this place while on business trip.  Hahaha, don't tell my boss that I took a side trip.  It was middle of winter, covered in snow.  This area of New York is so beautiful during the winter.  When I travel, I enjoy visiting historical sites.  Examples include, native american ruins and rock arts (petroglyphs).  When I learned that there was a shaker village, I had to go see for myself.  Currently, this place is closed for renovation and safety issues per their webiste.   Whether it be their simple but beautiful furnitures to non-toxic cleaning (all natural) solutions they use for their wood floors, and their communal living, it's fascinating to learn about the history of them.
