If you're up for a challenge and you've got 4 hours to kill, then this is for you.

The Mt. Baden-Powell Trail is a strenuous Hike. It's 8 miles round-trip from Highway 2 to the summit and back. There is 2,300 feet of elevation gain over 4 miles with great views of the ocean, mountains and the desert.

To get there start at the trailhead 9.2 miles west of Wrightwood on Highway 2 at the Vincent Gap parking area. The trail switchbacks up the forested north-east slope of Mt. Baden-Powell.

The hike may take up to 3-8 hours round trip dupending on your speed. I tend to hike quickly and the first time I did it in 2 hours and 15 minutes. Like an idiot I decided to run the trail from the top to the bottom. Not the smartest idea being that I lost my footing a couple of times.

Carry lots of water and clothes for cool, windy conditions at the summit.
