Review from Charmaine C.
Rancho Cucamonga, CA
It's about an hour and a half drive (depending on traffic) from NYC. My family and I stayed at Great Wolf Lodge, about 3miles away from this resort. As awesome as the Great Wolf Lodge was, I needed a quick breather from the kids infested resort where I could play like an adult. Enter Mount Airy Casino Resort.
I forgot I was in the Poconos for the few hours while playing as this place reminded me of Las Vegas (very similar to the M, Red Rock Casino, or Green Valley Ranch Vegas Casinos). It was very spacious. Lots of slot machines - seems like thousands and most of them being penny slots. I don't think this place pays out much tho because I lost =P Like Vegas, they offer complimentary drinks including alcohol to players. I enjoyed a nice glass of compliementary Pinot Grigio wine while playing the slots. They also offer a players rewards card which I didn't sign up for - maybe next time if I become a regular. Staff were friendly - a few of them asked how I was doing and wished me good luck. I got carded prior to entering the casino which I didn't mind at all because it makes me feel a tad bit younger. =P
They have various table games, a few starting at $5 minimum. They also have five restaurants including a buffet, a spa and salon, a nightclub, an 18-hole golf course and a fancy round bar in the middle of the casino. Driving up to the resort I also noticed a gorgeous little lake in front of the casino with a gazebo overlooking the lake that I thought would be a terrific place for a wedding or banquet.
If I had a choice where to stay in Mt Pocono, it would be this place. I have family in the NJ/NY area, which isn't too far of a drive at all to this casino especially for this Californian who is prone to long drives. I'm certain to return again when I visit them in the East Coast. A little smoky but it was certainly a good breather at the Mount Airy Casino Resort for the few hours that I was there! Until next time. -

Stony Point, NY
Very nice ride to location with no traffic.
The grounds are beutiful and well groomed and the Valet service gage us a nice welcom.
Bettys diner is really good and well priced but small so you may have to wait. The buffet for Sat lunch is grossly overpriced for lunch but dinner was better priced and whatever we tasted was really good
The casino is well laid out with machines and not many but enough tables. The problem with the tables, blackjack is many really enexperienced dealers, one was outright nasty and one made many mistakes. The pit boss hardly speads english and comps. just dont exist in my eyes. The players at the table were a very friendly bunch and I had a great time and we were winning....... so they closed the table. -

I was here about 15 years ago when I went to school in the Poconos, and the place was a bit run down back then. i am happy to say they have updated the palce, and the addition of the casino is spectacular. (Especially since it's only 2 hours away from Long island as opposed to 3 for AC or Foxwoods/Mohegan. The main floor of the casino had plenty of gaming tables and slot machines, and the poker room upstairs had about 20 or so tables open and running as well. Combined with the setting of the mountains, this place has definitely taken a turn in the right direction.

I love this place! Went here for the first time this weekend and was so surprised at how nice it was! Not pricey but looks it. Free valet parking was nice but even the self parking area wasn't far from the door if you like that option. The people were all really friendly. We called room service for a corkscrew and they called back and asked if we needed wine glasses (we did haha). The casino isn't the biggest or best you have ever seen but they have great games and great patrons! My only aggravation was they allowed people at the Blackjack tables to play more then one spot so there would be two people sitting at a table and they would be using all of the spots to bet like 2-3 hands at once... thats just not fair when people are waiting, I've never seen that anywhere else. The room were not only clean but gorgeous and very chic. I plan to go here again in the future and I'm excited for it!

It's hard to say. Is it their fault I'm not lucky and I didn't hit big. This review is solely based on me not leaving empty handed and just admiring the beauty of the casino. In a few weeks I plan on going back to check out the hotel. But it wasnt bad. My money lasted a lil longer than it would have had I gambled at the Sands. I am not against coming back and referring Mt. Airy to a friend.

3 CASINOS, 3 DAYS!! Mount Airy Casino Resort Poconos
Likes: Betty's cafe (Philly Cheese steak sandwich was delicious) Service was good and even the manager came over and asked us if everything was okay. This was the only thing we like about this casino.
Dislikes: Casino was very smoky, and machines were dirty with ashes and fingerprints. The popular slots they had very few of, and the unpopular slots they had tons of. Payouts were non-existent and even bonus boards payed nadda. The location is very difficult to find at night. They need more lighting and signage. Service around the slot area was light as we only saw one waitress working the floor and she only came around twice in our 4 hour visit.
The club card offered us $10 for signing up for the first time, but immediately closed (I think around 10pm????)
This was our second stop on our second day and we were not impressed. The slots offered NO action what so ever and we lost $500/each within four hours. This is what we consider NOT WORTH THE TIME in our books. We don't mind losing our money when we go. It's entertainment for us and we like the action of the slots and the bonus boards. This casino offered very FEW bonus boards and when you did eventually get a bonus it payed absolutely nothing. (not kidding, our bonus on a Dean Martin Party machine playing $3.00/Bet and we won NOTHING on the bonus).
This ranked 3rd on our list of 3 as being the worst of the lot.
We will not be returning to this casino ever again. Sorry Mount Airy!! -

Groupon deal got us a 2 night stay for $178.00 plus tax. It included $25 slot play and $25 food credit /day. A great deal! valet parking was quick and easy. Hotel check in was less than 5 min. Staff seemed friendly and competent. Our standard room was modern and the bath was clean with a two person shower. The casino was not as smoky as others claimed, it never bothered my wife or me. Within two hours she was up $600. playing her favorite penny slots. Bettys Diner served a fine breakfast, and decent burgers and fries. I loved the thick shakes. This was much better than Johnny Rockets at Mohegan Sun. The buffet was typical, not high quality, but plenty of choices. I can't comment on any other restaurants. Nothing for kids/teens, keep in mind this is an adult resort, not a Mac Donalds playland. Rate it equal to Foxwoods and AC, better than CT MoheganSun ripoffs. Will gladly return

"The beautiful Mount Airy Lode, all you have to bring is your love of everything." Growing up in NJ, my sister and I would sing along to the Mount Airy Lodge commercials knowing only that the resort offered outdoor hot tubs and horseback riding. Twenty years later, I had my first official visit to the Mount Airy Casino Resort. Fully updated, this place blew my expectations out of the water.
Though I didn't stay at the resort, I went to the casino for a few hours with some family members. The casino is very clean and modern (minus the indoor smoking) and surprisingly crowded for a Saturday night. There are tons of slot machines, most of them 1 cent machines. There are about fifteen tables for card games and roulette, and then a separate poker room. There are lots of restaurants, including the obligatory casino buffet, and one nightclub.
I was pretty impressed with how nice the Mount Airy facilities were, and would absolutely go back the next time I'm in PA. -

KNICKERBOCKER, NY
Sure, it is small compared to the casinos/resorts in Atlantic City and Vegas. But you know what: it is in an excellent area, it is close to NYC and I enjoy coming here. I have stayed and used their facilities/spas and it was all WONDERFUL! Further, Red's Steakhouse was fantastic (I should submit another review). The Buffet was pretty neat too. In any case, for the gaming experience, I have had my ups and downs. But that is also part of the way things work, you lose some you gain some. The point is that to just have fun and enjoy.

Medford, MA
My friends and I stopped in at Mount Airy for a few hours to hit the penny slots and waste a couple of bucks. Little did we know that we would be met with a great time had by all!
The first impression that I gathered from the hordes of seventy-somethings flocking through the casino doors was that this was going to be an ugly, old fashioned , smoke-filled hole in the wall that was going to be a giant disappointment. Boy was I wrong!
Although the crowd does seem to consist of the recently retired, the atmosphere and decor was contemporary, clean, and really beautiful. We sat at the bar and the bartender told us that as long as we had a few dollars in the bar-top machines, we could drink whatever we want, as much as we want.
Amazing :). She even suggested we go for the top shelf liquor (even though the lowest vodka I saw was Stoli...) So it was a Patron Margarita for me and a Bombay Sapphire gimlet for my friend... ON THE HOUSE! And although most casinos offer free beverages to their players, these were NOT 97% water, and in fact a little strong.
I wish we were able to go back for their July 13th premiere of their TABLE GAMES... (frequent Airiers must be so relieved), but I suppose Ill just have to return the next time I'm in the Poconos.
Overall, a great time!!! -

New York, NY
I was looking for a nice country escape away from the hustle and bustle, that is New York City. Since I only had two days, I figured why not head on over to the Poconos for a nice getaway. After a few days of research, I was informed that Mount Airy was as high end as it gets. Here is a quick overview of what I enjoyed and didn't enjoy--
+ The double queen suite w/ comfortable bedding.
+ Convenient location ( close to shopping centers).
+ The large shower
+ Valet parking.
- Casino ( only slots & not much of a gambler)
- The lack of a bathtub in my room.
- The rural roads that don't show up on my gps.
- Room service food, horrid!
-- Being RUDELY approached by security for an ID check.
( I know I may look 15 due to the braces to some but to say "there is no way that you are 21" isn't how hotel guests should be spoken to--I am 26!)
Perhaps, if I was a little older or a gambler I would have enjoyed myself a little more. -

Great Neck, NY
I was not impressed at all. I arrived with my two teenagers and my husband. Apparently this hotel has nothing for kids and probably should just not have them at all. They can't even go to most of the restaurants on site (actually with a security guard escort they can). They had no pool, the staff was in general very rude. I talked the host about getting a plat. card as I'm plat with another casino. They gave it to me but the host went on about how little benefit's they have and basically tried to convice me not to bother? Quite frankly I can walk into most other casino's and get free rooms, food, or at the very least and upgrade to a suite... I got the impression that nobody working there cared if I was enjoying myself or even cared if I was there. I will not be back.

This is for the Sunday Jazz Brunch Buffet only. Went there on bus tour. Not worth 24.95. A carving station, fruits, a few breakfast items, Chinese items, pastries, juices, coffee, tea ice cream, peel & eat shrimp, & crab. That's about it. There were small flies over the shrimp. Food, mediocre at best. A fellow rider liked Betty's Diner; I'll try it next time.

New York, NY
After years of speculation, casino gaming has finally come to fruition in the once family -oriented Pocono Mountains.
The former honeymoon-on-a-budget destination Mount Airy Lodge (the Mount Airy Lodge with the champagne hot tubs and shag rugs) was shut down and leveled a few years ago and from the ashes has risen a $500 million casino hotel.
Now, before you trek the almost 80 miles from NYC with your ATM card and casino games strategy handbook, note that this first freestanding casino in the Poconos only has slot machines (and computer operated blackjack with cleavage enhanced video dealers). But I have to admit, the casino floor is HUGE -- the size of a football field with thousands of slot machines.
The hotel just opened November 15th and has rooms that rival even Las Vegas style hotels: 40" LCD HDTVs, King-sized beds with Egyptian Cotton Sheets and a bathroom bigger than most East Village studio apartments equipped with waterfall showerheads (the shower fits two people comfortably) and a real bathtub for soaking and luxuriating.
The best part of all is right now the rooms are only $199 weekday and $249 weekend, and I was told can accomodate up to 5 people....so if you want a guys/gals weekend with a bunch of friends $50/pp a night is dirt cheap....
For those that don't play slots, there are 4 restaurants (a steakhouse, italian cucina, diner and the ever popular buffet)...the spa is set to open in December...plus more expansion is slated in 2008 (a nightclub, more hotel rooms). Plus the Crossing Premium Outlet Mall is only ten minutes away....you can shop at Burberry, J.Crew, Calvin Klein, Banana Republic, Nike, Brooks Brothers, Gap, etc.
Goodbye old Poconos as family/honeymoon spot...and say hello to the Poconos as a gaming/shopping destination!! -

Stayed at the Mt. Airy resort for 1 night as I had an event/meeting at the Chateau Resort 8 min. away. (I knew not to stay at the Chateau..eeeeww)... and was happy I chose Mt. Airy. As most resorts (?) are dated in the pocono area, Mt. Airy was plush and upscale for that area. Rooms are clean, nicely decorated, flat screen TV, beautiful views, modern bathrooms, valet parking, and extremely comfortable. I would have given the hotel a 5 star but deducted 3 stars because it is part of the casino and the casino floor is a smokers paradise! Casino floor stinks from stale smoke and loaded with smokers who are proud to finally have a public place to smoke! They rule here. So, I found the casino floor a horrible place to be...breathing clean air was not going to happen. My clothes smelled just from walking through. I would stay at the hotel again if I were in the area for business but I would not make a special trip here.

I come here to have a good time and relax with my friends and family. At times it gets very busy and you have a hard time finding a machine to play. however, if you are non-smoker like me you will not find too many machines that you can play without being overwhelmed by a smoke cloud.

Very nice room for the price! As rooms go, you won't find a nicer place in the area. I've included pictures. Parking is by valet only. It will only set you back the tip and a few extra minutes.
If you're coming for gaming, the casino is all slots. No tables. Poker and blackjack are electronic only. I didn't play.
Being in town for business, I was quite disappointed in the dining options at this resort. I went to dinner at 8:30 PM, and there were only two places open -- Diner or Italian food. Both were understaffed and mediocre quality. For more options, the chains are just 20 min away. -

Being diamond player we thought we might find another option to our mini trips and since it was raining in the poconos this seemed a reasonable option. Pretty casino, they upgraded our diamond card to their silver. Gave us $25 slot cash and no other enticements, Apparently the only other perk is free valet parking. Casino host made it clear that the only people they comp are people who never leave the casino. It made us appreciate why we stick to harrah,s. No Incentive for us to return. Host said they don,t even send mailers to people like us

Honestly the place is done. Asians / Chinese already condemned it. Its too noisy, too many slot machines not even enough room to WALK.
Too few tables. And cus serv is bad. This place is bad. They have a bar 4 feet from 2 roulette tables. Thats what people want, drunk a-holes gawking / being dumb while I gamble -
Review from Brian C.
Chicago, IL
Pros- crowd was lively enough on a Sat night, dealers were professional and courteous, and they make a nice vodka tonic for $4.25 if you decide to buy a drink at the bar
Cons- about 30 tables in total. Only 2 craps and 3 roulette tables. More expensive than I expected (impossible to find a $15 table on a Sat night- thought it'd be cheaper than AC, Mohegan, Vegas but it wasn't), our $25 blackjack table had some amateurs (which doesn't bother me all that much, but I know it drives others crazy), only one separate bar/lounge area in the place.
Coming from northwest NJ, I'd make the short drive to come back here if I had the itch to go gambling. But from NYC, I'd rather drive the 3 hrs to Mohegan than the 1:45 or so to come out here, simply because Mohegan is a bigger resort with more tables & bars. And it's definitely not a destination place for a bachelor party or anything like that. -

**Review only for the Casino**
I have only stopped here once and only stayed for a couple of hours but I was very impressed. I have not stayed here yet but am looking forward to doing so in the very near future. I will update my review after that. Being someone who has been to Atlantic City plenty of times, I must say that it was so refreshing to drive to a casino and simply park in a lot for FREE as opposed to a parking garage. There is plenty of free parking.
On to the casino. The casino is very nice and clean, but then again it is new so it should be that way. I wandered in and found myself a seat at a blackjack table. The dealers were very nice and the cocktail waitresses came around so frequently, they didn't even give me enough time to finish my drinnk. That is awesome. You rarely have that great problem in AC. I have a feeling that I may be coming here instead of AC when I want to sit at a table... -

Emmaus, PA
Great hotel and casino! We upgraded to the suite when we got there for only about $50 more per night -- it was definitely worth it. Our suite was spacious, comfortable and very tastefully appointed (see photos). The bathroom was amazing, with a separate shower stall and toilet area, and a giant bathtub. The view of the lake and golf course from the living area and bedroom was nice, too. Some downsides were the lack of a pool and the room service, which was pretty slow.
The casino itself was pretty good -- we played a lot of video poker at the bar and got free drinks and great service. However, we're in our late 20s and got carded constantly as we walked throughout the casino, which was annoying. The casino buffet was only OK -- fairly good selection but the food itself was mediocre. -

New York, NY
Just came back from a weekend getaway to Mount Airy Casino. It was a very beautiful hotel and casino. The decor in the lobby was very comtempary, but very confortable. The service from the valet and front desk with impecible. The room was very nicely decorated and even though we were stuck with a handicap room due to the hotel being booked, it was still a very lovely room. The casino was great, no tables just machines, but we were very lucky! We spent saturday in the SPA. One hour couples massages, one hour facials and pedicures. Three hours of pure relaxation in an attentive atmosphere of luxary. The nightlife was lackluster, but can be fun with a good group of friends. All around an amazing weekend getaway only about 90 minutes from the city.

Came here on biz trip and this only place that's closest to my client. The deal is great for only $119 during weekday. The hotel part of lodge is excellent, the room are all very new and modern with cisco ip phones, and flatscreen TV's, wifi fast internet. The resturants are good deal, however the casino are so so as only slot machines are there. There's no pool but a very modern work out gym with all the latest exercise equipment you can imagine. If I have to come back to again for business I definitely stay here again.
