Motel 66. They obviously must have massively improved since I stayed here in 2005 to deserve the two star rating below.
For the love of God. Do not stay here. Ever. My family and I stopped in as my brother was involved with a Kung Fu tournament in Hartford that lovely Spring weekend. As an avid fan of the Motel 6 franchise, I heartily recommended staying here as opposed to paying for a pricey room elsewhere in the city. After a good mapquest search I was sure it would be ideal since from its description, the location sounded mighty a-ok with a McDonalds, market and Dunkin Donuts right along the same strip. Unfortunately what I did not know, was that the strip was obviously the creation of utter evil.
The first thing I noticed was that the grounds were disgusting. Think, dirty diapers smeared on the staircase, used condoms in the bushes, feces in the hall, etc. You get the drift. But the room itself. I wish I were exaggerating when I state that there was literally feces and blood smeared across the bathroom walls and more tracks of blood throughout the bedroom carpet, floors and around the side of the bed. As if this wasn't lux enough? Someone left urine all over the A/C unit. Yup. Someone done peed on the air conditioner. Never mind our "neighbors" and the way, too obvious prostitutes hanging on the staircase. I'm sorry. No. I may be from Lower East Side, NY and I may be from South Providence but there was no way in hell we were staying in this motel. Trust me when I say I'm hardly easily intimidated. We literally left without a refund.
At a later date we did receive free vouchers from the company (we complained. Yes indeedy.) which were used at the State College, PA location however even now, I am in disbelief that such a terrible, hell house could exist. Don't believe me? Go to Motel 6's official website and check out this location and its surrounding locations. Notice they use the same dumpy picture for each one? (Keeping in mind that they always, always dolly everything up for other locations.) If that doesn't trip the alarm signals, I don't know what does.

Decent, and cheap, and pets are allowed, which was the main motivating factor in my staying here. Some really creepy people call this place home, and if you're traveling with small children or if you're easily intimidated, I wouldn't recommend staying here, but it's tolerable for the money -- especially if you're traveling with animals.
