5 reviews for Motel 6
I just need a bed
Upon which to rest my head
Motel 6=Cheapest
_____
I felt like I'd been driving all night. One stop at the Castaic Inn and I was quoted $69.99+tax.
Second stop at Gorman, quoted $65.99+tax.
Third stop at some Rodeway Inn off the I-10 and quoted $59.99+tax.
At that point I contemplated sleeping in the car, but it wreaked of body odor. I figured I might as well keep driving since the prices were trending downward. Why they wouldn't just book the room at any price they can get at 2AM was beyond me, but it wasn't my business to run.
Then Motel 6 in Buttonwillow saved the day. For $41 after tax, I got two beds, running water, and a bar of soap--1 bed more than I needed for free!~ Yes, the place is a complete dive, but the ladies at the front desk were super-nice and it provided everything I needed. Anyone who goes here expecting a suite is a complete idiot. Quit complaining, losers. If you wanted the Bellagio, you made a wrong turn somewhere.

Dingy and awful. The Worst carpets I've ever seen in an open hotel. The tub was vile. The hookers under the bed were even lumpier than most.
The only good thing about the place? The keycards to the rooms were actual punch cards. They had holes in them like the first wave fo keycards from the 1980s. It was awesome.
Otherwise, this joint sucks.

This is my half way point stop between San Diego and San Fran. The ladies at the front office know me because I come through at least 3-4 times a year. I have found that its important to know where is the best location at the Motel 6 or any motel/hotel.. stay away from the back or side rooms near the pool and never on the ground floor...to much noise. Always try to get a room next to a storage unit to minimize any potential disturbances such as noisy couples doing the horizontal mambo.
This is a very basic accommodation.. bed, bath and tv.. no Wifi. The rooms I get always tend to be clean although when I got one room that smelled of smoke I asked for a different room and I was moved with no fuss or hassles. I recommend the local Tia's Pupusa's place although the service was VERY slow. The TA has usually the cheapest gas. However stop at the Subway and Starbucks for caffeine and sandwiches.
The single worst Motel 6 I've ever been in. Dirty, sticky carpet, no WiFi, noisy, hot, nasty. The tub was dirty, and the overall impression was "Well, it's better than falling asleep at the wheel".
I was expecting a demon to appear suddenly and drawl "Welcome to Motel 666, I'm Tom Bealzubub, and we'll leave a pit burning for you"
Only just barely better than falling asleep at the wheel.
The noisy amorous trucker couple in the next room didn't help my mood any either. Was very glad to hit the road early.

I have stayed here a couple of times prior to hitting the racetrack off the Lerdo Highway. Cheap, somewhat clean, whatever. Big parking lot.
