Wow! worth every dollar. Yes it is pricey but the meat is terrific, this comes from someone who had her own cattle corn fed and slaughtered I know my meat. The petite fillet was cooked to perfection and as tender as cutting butter. The bacon wrapped scallops tasty and also cooked to perfection. Ceasar salad perfect. The grilled asparagus Delicious. For desert I had warm chocolate cake filled with a fudge and served with vanilla ice cream. Dinner for 2 cost $99.00. Go on line to print up special coupon and make your reservation. We will be going back I want to try the Maine Lobster.

Steakhouses are hard for me to rate because the best steak I've ever had, I cooked myself and nothing... so far.. has lived up to that experience.   Sorry.

I will say though, that I like the folks at Morton's very much.   This is slightly biased cause I have a good friend who is a regular here but the service has always been good and the bar pays attention when you ask for modifications (I like martini's stirred, and I like other drinks.. like Sidecars, lemon drops etc... much more tart than the average person).  I've not yet been disappointed.

Decent but pricey (of course) wine list.

I've had their monster of a NY (seriously, the leftovers lasted me two days) and their petite filet and both are good.   The grilled balsamic glazed asparagus are a favorite.   Nice and crisply cooked.  The sauteed mushrooms and bacon wrapped scallops are stellar and the crabcakes are actually some of the best I've had.   Not at all overly mayonnaissed or bready... with big chunks of crab.

Haven't had room for dessert yet.  But if I ever do, you'll be the first to know.

Let me set the scene:

You pull up curb-side in your just-washed sweet, black vehicle. A smiling attendant opens the passenger door and a beautiful leg in stiletto heel emerges, attached to the most beautiful woman on the planet. You flip your keys to the guy, the gorgeous woman takes your arm and you head up the few steps to the restaurant.

You open the door and the strains of Frank Sinatra's "The Way You Look Tonight" are the first sounds you hear. Perfect. Then greeted by the tall drink-of-water hostess who advises "Your table will be ready in moments, sir." So you and Gorgeous slip into the bar, where a perky server takes your drink order... Chivas for you, a Cosmos for her. You use these moments to let the work day melt off of you, have the first couple laughs, intimate conversation over drinks and take in the spectacular beauty again of the woman with you.

The table ready now, you are escorted into the dining room by a maitre di in a dark suit. You take in the ambiance... all class, smiling patrons, the smell of great food and expensive perfume. Glasses, plates, jewelry, laughter, conversations and maybe a Bobby Darin song now all part of the room's din.

You and Gorgeous slide into the intimate booth. Short moments later a waiter greets you, no delays here; and the knowledgeable server is always at the ready for whatever you request. The menu "presentation" gets the appetite sparked, and then the waiter bows off for a couple minutes as you decide between the Steak Diane, Porterhouse, Rib Eye, or New York Strip.

There's never an ounce of pressure to proceed, you don't feel rushed for a second. You're the boss of this culinary affair and you are treated as such. The meal choices are superb... and they are cooked, delivered and served to perfection. Pricey? Nahh, priceless, when done this way.

You barely have room for dessert; the lobster, steak, potatoes and vegetables were so good. But, yeah, maybe a couple short glasses of Port... and OK, that Grand Marnier Souffle and two spoons. Tonight we celebrate life... and her beauty.

It's a memorable evening, the way it should be. The way a dining experience is supposed to be. And Morton's gets it right, whether you're in San Jose,  Mid-Town Manhattan, or Chicago (where the whole chain started).

Back in the vehicle now, Gorgeous leans over, kisses you on the lips and whispers how nice the dinner was. You pull away from the curb, roll through downtown... and smile that smile.

I have to say, I left Morton's pretty disappointed. It's not like I had a bad steak, but the experience wasn't that choreographed.

Honestly, how hard is it to cook a steak if you do it a million times a day? Any steakhouse you go to will know how to cook your steak. I guess the difference food-wise is if they properly dry-age their beef. At Morton's they don't advertise a 21-day dry age, so I'm assuming they don't.

What you really need at your steakhouse is class, elegance, and flawless service. Morton's did not deliver on either of these. I want some old guy with gray hair taking my order. I want everything done perfect the first time. I want confident fulfillment of every desire I could possibly have. None of this happened at Morton's.

Yeah I ordered my cowboy steak (bone-in ribeye) and I liked it, but 45 dollars liked it? (it may not have been that expensive, but it was close.) Also, the chocolate souflee that I waited a half-hour for was like chocolate scrambled eggs...not good.

If you want the complete experience, go to San Francisco, because if you're going to pay an arm and a leg, at least you should get the real deal.

Being a newer Morton's I was a little skeptical going in for my first meal here. I had family in from out of town and we decided to get there early and enjoy cocktail at that bar. The bartender was very friendly, allowing us to try a few varieties of wine before we purchased. We were seated on time and chatted up by the manager at first.

The waiter came by and was very professional and provided the Morton's experience with the live menu. Our food was absolutely fantastic and cooked to perfection.

I would recommend trying the Steak & Seafood for two at $99 as this is tremendous value for all the food you receive. I also plan to come back for the half price bar food menu during happy hour.

Great service, experience, and environment.

Taking our customers here for a steak on a week night is rather good, because it was almost packed but yet the service is still attentively good.

The Rib Eye Bone In & the Porterhouse have always been my best choices here. & again, our steak were perfectly cook. My customers were visiting from another country & they were all loved it. We also ordered the iceberg wedge salad, & side dishes such as sauteed mushroom (must have!), asparagus, & lyonnaise  scallop potatoes!

For BERG W. review below. Their steak do have 21-29 days dry-aged in all their Morton location nationwide, so if you don't hear that from the waiter, then the waiter must be new or forgotten to do his job :-)

Morton is a chain steakhouse, but it's been always 1 of the best of all. It's a CLASSIC steakhouse, so stick with the Rib Eye & Porterhouse are always best. Don't try Cajun style or any other, that would just ruin your crave for a real classic steak!

Their corkage fee is only $25 per bottle for the first 3 bottles, that's very good! Dinner for 6 of us came out to $650, remember that we brought our own wines! So this is consider a higher end steakhouse in San Jose/South Bay area.

For a San Jose, I thought this is 1 of the best classic steakhouse.

One of the best cooked, best tasting steaks of my life (double filet mignon). My wife, however, got a very undercooked salmon and was not pleased.

Good staff for the most part. Good service. Excellent food.

I came in Tuesday night to the bar with a friend to have some drinks and I love the bar menu they offer but were suprised to find that our waitress was very rude.  I couldn't believe how long we waited for drinks and how unattentive she was but the kicker was we could see her on her cell phone in the side station and overheard her saying that she couldn't go out anymore after work seeing as to how she was "stuck there".   I certainly expect a lot more from a place like this.

Not bad.  Pretty ordinary higher-class steakhouse.

My steak was okay.
The scallops were good.
Good salads.
Decent fish.
Good cheesecake.
Good service.

I like the fact that the server already knew my name based on my reservation and called me Mr. Y... all evening long.  Nice personal/professional touch.

Their famous $99 coupons are a good way to test the waters for this place...look into it!

They are a kinda gimmicky with their sales pitch for both the food and desserts.  I could do without that part.  I had a cajun-spiced ribeye, which was prepared exactly to what I ordered (medium - pink all the way through, but not bleeding all over my plate or over-cooked).  The ribeye was pretty huge, but considering that it was also a pretty pricey steak, I would certainly hope so!  Our server was nice, but again with the gimmicky spiel.  For the price, I think you can find a steak just as good (or better) with all the pressure.

First time dining at Morton's. Read the reviews on YELP (ITS HIT OR MISS) My boyfriend and I spent our 6 month anniversary dinner here on a Saturday night. Waited to be seated even though there were open tables all over. We were seated in a booth and the gentleman seating us pulled the table out so we wouldn't have to scoot over, how thoughtful, and brought us dark napkins, I'm thinking due to the fact I had on dark lipstick, I always feel bad leaving lipstick on white napkins.

We order drinks I had the Heavenly Cosmopolitan, I sent it back the Pomegranate foam was odd, and just ordered a regular cosmo. I was disappointed they charged us for it as i didn't like it.Our waitress was very nice, we did the $99 dinner for 2 and even though we knew what we were going to order she wanted us to have the "full Morton's experience". They had some great looking cuts of meat, giant potatoes and huge veggies! They also had a live lobster to show the size. I couldn't help but feel bad ( I wanted to offer him my water) After the visual and verbal presentation we ordered dinner.

Our salads came pretty quickly, but our dinner was a little slow, but we didn't realize this till after. The crab cakes were great all crab no breading and the shrimp Alexander Oh My! The Lyonnais potatoes were wonderful especially with the sauteed onions. Broccoli was bland even with the sauce. Steak was great. I had mine well done and his was med-well Desert was great had the lava cake, didn't realize the fudge in the middle would be so hot (hence the "lava" I guess) but oh so yummy! he had key lime, whipped cream was "tangy".

Over all great experience we dined at a savings of almost $70 not bad. Definitely give it a try, and the special promotion dinner for 2 for $99 isn't bad! Will definitely be returning next month!

WOW.  This was GREAT.  We went on a Tuesday night for my husband's birthday.  The service was excellent.  The ambiance was warm and lots of conversation and laughs coming from all corners of the room.  The menu presentation was incredibly creative.  Our waiter taught us about the different types of steak and showed us raw cuts of each (covered in plastic).  We got to see the live Maine lobster (flown in that day) wiggling on his silver tray...it was really cool.  The food was INCREDIBLE and the portions were very large, I couldn't eat everything.  I was afraid the whole place would be full of business men or the service would be snooty, but that couldn't be further from the truth.

Since it was a birthday dinner they even took a digital picture for us and put it in a special frame that they gave us towards the end of dinner (complimentary) and they put a candle in my husband's dessert and sang happy birthday.  They have their own valet, that is cheaper than local parking.  Also your waiter will call your car up if you like when he brings you the check.

We felt incredibly spoiled, the whole experience was a lot of fun.  The food was exceptional from start to finish...the molten chocolate cake gave me the chills it was so good.  Highly recommend for a special occassion.

I was excited when I heard that Morton's was coming to San Jose.  I went here for a company dinner and they had us seated in one of the private dining rooms.

Service- ok
Steaks- ok
Sides- ok (a la carte)

Nothing here wowed me.  The atmosphere is boring and the food wasn't spectacular...just pricey.

I would go to Alexander's Steakhouse in Cupertino for a better experience.

Way overpriced, for the steak you're getting. You're much better off going to Ruth's Chris steak house than this place. I would compare the steak to  something you get at Outback.

Service was good, only reason they got 2 stars.

Came here on a Sunday night with my family. We had reservation at 7:30pm. We came a little early, the restaurant was practically empty and it still took them 15 minutes to seat us:

Things I DIDN"T like:
- They don't give you the menu until they do a little presentation about the menu. It's really pointless and makes the whole ordering process just long. For example, they said that they have 6 different kinds of potato sides, then the waiter holds up a red-skin potato from Idaho.
- Service was ridicoulously slow and there were only about 5 other tables in the whole restaurant.  We had to wait a long time for our bread, dessert (even when we ordered at the same time as our entree b/c the waitress said it would take 30 minutes to prepare). and the bill (i seriously wanted to walk out)
- Waitress was not too friendly
- My porterhouse steak was not that great; I would have to say it's the worst steakhouse I've been too. (Ruth Chris is still the best!)

Things I LIKE:
- The hostess asked what was the occasion and I said it was my dad's birthday. So they took a family picture for us, printed it out on a card, signed by the staff, and sang Happy Birthday when they brought out our desserts
- The bread is really good. They bring out this round loaf, slightly seasoned, and hot. It's great! I think I enjoyed the bread more than the steak.

Mortons. What can I say, its just not that interesting. Don't get me wrong, its consistently good, no matter where you are in the country - if you toddle into Mortons you can expect a certain level of quality and service. But. Thats my problem with it as well. its the McDonalds of Steaks (okay maybe thats a bit much).

I went with three coworkers last night for dinner and the food was good, the service was good and the bill was big. Typically of what you'd get at the one in Chicago, or where ever else....

I'm a bit embarrased to turn in my expense report for this dinner.

My fiance & I went to Morton's here in SJ once..and it was the BEST service we have EVER had anywhere. It was incredible. we were almost incredulous as to how attentive, but non pushy our waiter was.  He truly made it a memorable experience.  If one of us stepped away from the table, he would swoop in no more than 10 seconds later and refold our napkins and put it on our chair, our water was never drank more than one sip and he would be back to refill, the wine he suggested was great and paired wonderfully with out filets.

The menu and the way that the food is presented to you is a little confusing sometimes, and you get totally lost, since they roll out a cart with the "menu" on it and give you brief descriptions of what you get, paired with what, and the prices..so it's easy to get lost.  But they hand you an actual menu when they are done.

Morton's is definitely pricey, but it was so worth the $$.  Try going on their website, they always have promotion coupons that you can print out and save some $$.

I gave this place three stars because I really appreciated the service; however, I must say, I have had similar steaks at  Outback. The best steak I have ever had is Ruth's Chris hands down.
Anyway, I ordered the lobster tail and small fillet with the largest pieces of asparagus I have ever seen. I was not fond of their Morton's salad ( anchovies- blah) but the bread was great. The lobster was over cooked and I couldn't help but wish I had gone to red Lobster or Outback instead. This is bad for $69 a plate.
All in all the service was great, food was overrated and overpriced and I doubt that I would go back. :0)

Finally - I'm here to try Morton's! I finally got my fiance off his behind and to take me to Morton's so I can enjoy me some steak! He does not like going out too much so this was a hard thing to do - But I DID IT!
When we first walked in there was 2 groups ahead of us (Mind you, we did make reservations) and they seated the first two, when she was about to call us over, another group walked in and wanted to be seated, the main hostess sat her before us! I was livid! Even though we had made reservations, we had been waiting for 10 minutes and the restaurant was still HALF empty.
(I personally blame my boy 'cause I was looking smokin' hot that night and he was just semi-hot.)
When we finally did sit down, the waiter never showed up with the menu (or presentation) for 20 MINUTES! That means me wanting to eat a napkin or drink the water out of the broccoli next to us because I was so thirsty. It took 15 minutes juts for water and bread. NOT the best impression. As the server came by to apologize for the delay (I asked 2 servers by this time where our's was and they didn't know either), I just came him the look of "you get no tip!' but of course, I wasn't paying, so I couldn't decide that.
HOWEVER, as the night progressed, the server became more and more attentive and I was happier and more buzzed as the night went on - Good thing for him that I ordered 2 drinks.
We ended up ordering: Oysters on the half shell, Shrimp Alexander, Lobster Bisque, Crab Cakes, Bone-In Rib Eye, Seared Yellowfina Tuna, Sides of Potato and Spinach and their famous Hot Chocolate Lava Cake. (Yes its a lot, but my fiance has a stomach as a garbage disposal and still skinny!)
The food was definitely on par and just fabulous. The seafood tasted fresh and the steak was cooked perfectly at Medium Rare.
I'm still a little angry about the beginning of the experience but the food did speak volumes. We did ended up tipping our server nicely because he comped the cake we had and after the beginning fiasco, he was extremely funny and made sure our needs were met.

Downtown San Jose was blessed with this famous Midwestern steakhouse.

Even with a reservation it might take a minute for you to be seated.  You do not receive a menu until your server rolls the display cart to your table and recites the menu to you.  Each cut of beef is presented to you, you're given a brief biography of the live whole lobster, and you're offered an oversized Idaho potato which can be prepared in the standard styles, for those not interested in steak or lobster you can view your vegetable options.  The presentation seems silly but it's all part of the over-the-top service.  My glass was never empty, servers constantly asked if we needed anything and were quick to remove crockery and crumbs from the table.  Our server made a mistake with our potato dish and they brought the correct potatoes out at no charge.

Make sure you try one of their Morton's cocktails and save room for their signature Hot Chocolate Cake.

The only downside?  You will leave with an empty wallet and a very full belly.

My boyfriend and I came here for Valentine's day. Our reservations were for 7:30 but we didn't get seated until 7:45...no big deal though. It was expected on Valentine's day.

Started off with the blue point oysters. Yummy but average, nothing too special. He had the prime rib, I had the NY strip. I'm not a huge fan of steak so I was like okay, steak... great but not WOW. We got the sauteed mushrooms and potato skins. Now those were wow! The mushrooms were cooked perfectly, I ate most of the dish by myself! The potato skins were loaded with butter, sour cream, and bacon...sooooo unhealthy but delish! For dessert, we had the Morton's Legendary Hot Chocolate Cake. It was the perfect end to the meal. So rich and yummy!

The service was alright. I expected more considering how pricey this place is, but whatever, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt since it was Valentine's day and they were busy.

It's dinner and a show at Morton's, although the show is slightly unnerving. They hold the menus hostage until completing an animated presentation including steaks, whole lobsters and vegetables presented on a cart rolled to your table. The server handles and describes each menu item in annoying detail.

In early 2007 Morton's opened its doors to bring you USDA prime-aged, Midwest grain-fed beef, an honor bestowed on only 1 percent of all beef produced in the U.S., shipped directly from Chicago.

Morton's famous slow-roasted, double-cut, bone-in prime rib is only available on Friday and Saturday nights. Reserve your order when making reservations.

Don't forget to save room for desert. It is so delectable it has earned a special mention, The Legendary Hot Chocolate Cake is an oozy chocolaty must.

Overall, really good steaks but slightly irritating service.

Good service, but unnecesarily chatty. The food was decent, but not great. An Outback steak is probably a third of the price, but at least 2/3 as good. Skip Morton's and try another authentic steakhouse.

Great steaks, good drinks, good seafood, nice sides, excellent service not cheap, but not "oh my God" expensive, either.

We enjoyed my brother-in-law's birthday at Morton's San Jose last night and had a great meal.

We were greeted enthusiastically but since we'd shown up a bit early, we were kindly directed to the bar where the bar mistress put together a few nicely proportioned G&T's for us.  The wait was less then 10 minutes, just enough for our eyes to settle in the darkened room.  The place seems dark when you arrive, but you get used to it.  We had no troubles reading the menu (which was really un-necessary as our server did a great job showing/telling us what was on hand . . .)

Our table was in the middle of the room, away from the entry but positioned so that we could see the busy - sometimes explosive - food counter; very neat.

Jimmie, our server, was both friendly AND professional.  This is a nice combination to find every now-and-then.  I'm getting sort of surprised to find good, professional servers anymore and I'm pleased when it happens; makes me wanna' go back.

What more to say?  Steaks were excellently prepared and presented.  Morton's is NOT afraid to serve a rare steak!  Thank you!  I'm not going to order rare meat at an Outback or Sizzler, but here (or at S&W or Ruth's Chris or any of a half-dozen other "premium" steak/chop houses, such orders should be de rigeur.

Side dishes; grilled Asparagus (humongous spears) were 6 to an order, but each spear was enough to enjoy with our potatoes and the fresh garlic green beans!

Oh, appies were raw oysters; 6 biggies, on ice with fresh horse radish and cocktail sauce.  We also tried the Lobster Salad; 1/3 lb of fresh, cold lobster on lettuce, Yum!

With the above and a few salads (the Morton Salad is excellent, fresh and a meal in itself) and the Wedge version was a cool, refreshing precursor to the extra-warm and juicy steak that followed!  (Note to the kitchen:  Can you stock some fresh Anchovies?  At these prices, canned varieties make me snarl, thanks)

Dessert was a nicely sized (you have your thinking caps on in the dessert department) chocolate "lava-type" cake; delicious, semi-sweet chocolate, unctuous brownie-cake.  Yum.  We were treated to a really, very good Grand Marnier Souffle for my Bro's birthday.  This dessert is presented at the table; well, spooned onto plates at the table-side, that is.  Very classy.  Add a double Espresso and a sip of TF 20-year and you're all set.

My Pirates of the Caribbean compass still always points to the Grill on the Alley for the best local steak (Smith & Wollensky in Vegas for all-time greatest steak dinner).  But, for a nice, satisfying steak experience, I have no qualms sending folks to Morton's.  I look forward to returning soon!

went here for my boyfriends birthday...it was amazing.  There was the fair warning that we would not be rushed so we expected to be there for a while and we were.

We were seated and out coats were taken...
our drinks were always fresh
everything on the menu fully explained
a complete sense of urgency when two of the people with us ordered prime rib
my fillet was actually cold in the middle, which made me very happy.

all in all I would go back in a heart beat...when I'm up for driving and hour and dropping all of my weekend money.

WOW.  This is my first 5 star review.  Why you may ask?  First off someone else paid for my meal and I ordered whatever I wanted.  Yeah, I'm a cheap ass.  Secondly, I ate the best steak of my life.  I was talking about it for a week.  No kidding.  You're probably thinking that I since I'm cheap I'm probably comparing my Morton's porterhouse steak to crappy steak at the Outback or Black Angus.  No, I'm comparing it to other steak/chop houses like AP Stumps and Forbes Mill in the San Jose area.  Cheap as I may be I do appreciate a good meal.

To all the folks that gave this place a not so good review...I'm sorry you didn't experience the food nirvana that I did.

Food:  I ordered the porterhouse and it was as big as my face.  I sampled the prime rib and almost regretted not ordering that instead.  Ordered a side of mushrooms and it was tasty.

Service:  Members of my dining group had to fly out in a few hours so we asked for speedy service and they didn't fail.  Waitress even had a smile on her face the whole time.

Ambiance: Clean.  Dark but not too dark.  A bit noisy but the place is kinda small.  Otherwise pretty classy.

Value:  Save up a few Benjamin's or persuade someone else to pay for you.

Enjoy.

3 1/2 stars. Our visit got off to a bumpy start--even though we had reservations, it took almost 15 minutes to seat us since the maitre 'd was nowhere to be found.

Once we did, though, our server was attentive and friendly. Her "presentation" of the different cuts of meat and veggies was a little heavy-handed, but I guess its part of Morton's marketing.

We started with Blue Point oysters, which were very fresh. For our entrees, we had the Ribeye and Filet Mignon, both of which were cooked perfectly medium rare and were very flavorful. Our sides--garlic mashed potatoes and creamed spinach--were perfect comfort food accompaniments. The meal was capped off with a piece of rich chocolate cake; it was almost like a mousse.

When we left, our server had the valet bring our car out to the front, which was very convenient since we were too bloated to walk.

Considering all the hype surrounding the Morton's opening in San Jose this year....and knowing how many other people thought that they had fabulous steaks, we were really excited to give them a try.

The service was very good for the most part, though we did have to wait a while to get someone to take our order, therefore consuming like 3/4 of our loaf of bread within 5 minutes. Not the way you want to start off a big steak meal, with a big loaf of bread in your belly.

Their bread was amazing, do have to give them mega bread props, big fluffy crusty loaf with butter, melts in your mouth good. But the rest of the dinner, including dessert was absolutely unmemorable and even disappointing overall. I know it was our first time there, but they did the whole 'lets show you our unappetizing display of slabs of meats' thing and I was thinking, seriously, I don't need to see what it looks like before I order it. Their lobster bisque was really not my kind of thing, I love The Grill on the Alley's more sherry-esque rich version. Their wedge was again, unmemorable and pretty bland. I shared a petite filet with my friend and it was just the perfect size for 2 people who didn't want to overeat.

I don't even remember what else we got, which tells you just how unmemorable the whole meal was. I think we got some sides like a veggie and mushrooms. And the dessert ... we got the chocolate souffle which was also just really meh. I don't think that it's their 'specialty', the warm chocolate cake is I think, but still. Nothing was terribly BAD, but again nothing was terribly good either.

The only good thing about not really loving Mortons is that we don't have to worry about going back anytime soon or craving absolutely anything there like I do at The Grill (lobster bisque, wedge, DESSERT!)...kind of a bummer because it's close to us, we can walk there. And it was very expensive for what you get...seriously next time I want to spend $500 for a party of 4...I can think of way better places to do it.

We had our NYE dinner and it was fabulous!!!  Our waiter Mike was great!  He was friendly, upbeat, and attentive...  We've order dozen raw oysters, and bacon wrapped scallops.  Among 6 of us we've ordered Filet Mignon, Rib Eye, Ahi Tuna,  and Filet Oskar.   We also got blue cheese topped french fries... DIE for!!!!  Creamed Spinach... It was good, but not as good as Forbes Mill in LG....  And top it off we got their chocolate cake with ice cream.....   YUMMMMM......

Their portion is HUGE, so you'll walk out full with leftovers...
Since it was NYE, we brought our own wine.. Their corkage fee is $25.00.

We really took our time and enjoyed our meal... We ended up ringing the New Year at our table...  Party favors, and champagne courtesy of Morton's...

Good food, good wine, and great friends....  It was the perfect ending of 2007 and perfect beginning of 2008!!!!
Good meal,

Disappointing after all the hype.

I went solo, and this is not the way to eat here. I was stuck in the bar area, and didn't get the full show. After the waitress realized I was there for dinner, service was good, but it took a while for her to get to me.

The steak was completely al la carte. It was very good, but not a LOT better than Outback, certainly not worth 2X+ the price.

There are better steakhouses in Downtown San Jose.

(Short and simply like always) Morton's San Jose steakhouse pretty good, i eat here twice a month at least i like the food i get good service . I would stay away from the well done steaks the kitchen has a tendency to burn your steak if you ask for it well done. Medium or medium/well is your best choice The preparation is 6/10, venue is 4/10 , quality of the produce and meat is 8/10 . ( i have always  believed a chef/cook is only as good as his ingredients) i would give Morton's an overall 6/10
1/10 ( you will die if you even look at this place)
2/10 ( you will die if you eat at this place)
3/10 ( you can eat here, if you don't have anywhere else to go)
4/10 ( Not Bad)
5/10 ( Its worth the time , if your close )
6/10 ( pretty good )
7/10 ( worth the money and time)
8/10 ( Excelent choice)
9/10 ( good choice for your last meal)
10/10 ( Your dreaming, or you have reached nirvana)

If you are craving for quality beef for a good price, Morton;s is the place to be!  The food taste great, the serving size is enough to put you in a food coma, and the service was good.

I would recommend this place for a fine dining experience.  Morton's prices are average for fine dining.  I spent $80 for two people, which is not bad for ordering wine, rib eye, fillet Mignon, and an appetizer.

Yummmm....

Came here after a beautiful day of beauty with the ladies and we decide to bring out the men for a good meal.  I must say that the steaks were excellent and presentation was wonderful...

The food isn't overly priced.  The menu presentation was beautiful.  I love it when I see the cuts of meat on a platter.  It goes to show how great of meat you are actually going to be indulging on.

One thing I will say is that make sure if you are looking for Medium Well order your steak medium especially if you want the mignon because the steak was a little over done for my liking,

Service was  excellent.  They were a little stiff but it doesn't beat my steak and potatoes. Expect to pay at least $100 per person if you are ordering steak, sides for 2 a bottle of wine and 2 bottles of sparkling as well as 1 alcoholic beverage per person...

BUT DAMMIT it was all worth it..

I didn't think that I'd be giving five stars to Morton's.  This evening our good friends treated us to a Christmas Eve dinner there.  It was everything I expected: huge portions, ala carte ordering and pricey.  What I didn't expect was such superb quality in the food.  Our friends have a three year old boy and he asked for seconds of the asparagus.  If a restaurant can please a youngster with asparagus, you know it's good!

Service was well-above average.  It wasn't perfect, but they tried to please and it showed.

This is a special kind of restaurant.  It is a once-a-year, special occasion place.  They charge a lot but they do deliver great food and atmosphere.

Considering the fact that I totally pigged out because my meal was paid for by a pharma company (won't mention it bc I'd like them to keep taking me out :) ), I was expecting around 4 stars. I give this 3.5 stars.

Here's what I had sampled.
1) Shrimp cocktail: get this
2) oysters: only get this if you're noticing you and your date clicking
3) bacon-wrapped scallops: pass
4) tuna tartare: passable (better at Aqua in SF)
4) jumbo western australian lobster tail with double cut filet: get this and make sure they don't overcook the lobster tail!
5) Stag's Leap merlot: definitely get this wine
6) cheesecake: passable
7) "legendary" chocolate cake: get this
8) a taste of someone's Grand Marnier Souffle: passable
*Best Grand Marnier Souffle is at Le papillion*

went there yesterday w/my family, got stuck with a fat rude white waitress,..her name was jen, not sure. but she was lazy, only offered her assistance 2 us towards the end when we were done eating and about to pay, we spent over 3 bills, despite the fact she was a total racist b***h my dad still, generous as he was tipped 50+...i wanted so bad to go over there slap that pork and keep that 50 for me!...i wanted to talk to the manager about it but she and he looked like good friends. & she was also waitressing another table, beside us, 4 white people, she was all smiles and jokes, when she got to us..she looked at our table and dismissed herself w/out a word...still being a lazy hog with a short ponytail similiar the one on the table's used as candle lite..ahah everytime we wanted something she would nod and leave, delivered our food with attitude.
and never once smiled.
the food is aiight, not for that price, the appetizer bread and butter are delicious...the place takes forever to deliver your food.
definately better for dates instead of family affairs.

Ehhh - to me this seems like another chain restaurant with table cloths.

The steaks are good but, if I wanted to take a class on them, i.e. listening to the server go over their steaks; I would've signed up for one.

May I please just order a steak without the lesson?

I do have to say they have a darn good Bar Bites/Happy Hour.  I wish they would incorporate drink specials into the promotion though.

The Grand Marnier souffle is good but not worth $20 bucks!
