ok, so i know you guys must be thinking, 3 stars?? honestly, mortons wasn't all it was cracked up to be. i love steak and i think i've tried almost everything: ruths chris, flemings, house of prime rib (sf), donvans (san diego), alexander's (san jose), sullivan's (houston) and some smaller places and morton's was last on my list of conquests b/c i heard it was delicious. maybe i just had an off experience, i don't know, i'm willing to give it a second shot. i ordered the porterhouse, medium rare, with asparagus and a baked potato for sides. the steak came out more medium than medium rare, which was okay, it still tasted pretty good. but the waiter wasn't really around much and the service was sub par compared to other fancy steakhouses i've been to. the sides were okay, nothing really special about them and overall, the whole dining experience was just ok. nothing stuck out here that WOW'd me.

This is not a place I would normally feel inclined to review, but today is an exception. The salmon was fresh and semi bland to my liking, the lamb was okay, but my friends selection of the chicken was surprisingly very tasty. Thank goodness for generous friends!
However the molten lava godiva dessert is the best thing and the only reason I would return on the regular to a chain location such as this.
Prompt service, valet and all other aspects are in check too.

OK, I'm not a big fancy steakhouse kind of guy, but I have to give props to my most recent visit to Morton's. I was there with my younger cousin and a few of her friends ordering dinner. All of a sudden we look up and guess who's walking in-- Charles Barkely! Yep, it was hilarious. He had no body guards, no entourage. He just walked in to the bar by himself, pulled up a chair and ordered dinner. My cousin and her friends were so starstruck that they walked up to him and immediately asked, "Can we be in your Fav Five????" He was so cool about it. He just laughed and then gave them all autographs and took a couple of pics. Really cool guy.
Do I make a habit of ordering $30 steaks and $20 sides-- heck no. But to randomly run in to the "round-mound-of-rebound" made it all worth it.

I went to Morton's before the mother of all bachelor parties. There were about thirty of us in a private room, kicking off a marathon evening of drinking and debauchery with a meal fit for red blooded carnivores. What better place than Morton's, a steak house with impeccable service and classic style.
The filet I had was perfectly cooked, and the sides are standard steakhouse items like hash browns, asparagus, creamed spinach, etc. I didn't have room for dessert, I overdid the sides and the bourbon before hand. Morton's will set you back some serious cash. It's definitely an indulgence, and not something I would recommend doing on a regular basis unless you're one of those captains of industry that can afford it (or expense it).
