4 reviews for Morro Shores Inn & Suites
We stayed in Morro Bay for one night, and this got the job done. We booked it because it was less than $100 for the night and the building is pretty new. We weren't expecting any frills -- just a comfortable, clean place to kick off our shoes and sleep.
We called to reserve a room the day before we arrived. We had read reviews that this hotel faced the freeway, so we asked if there were rooms facing the ocean (even though we knew it would be too far to see). We were told not to worry about facing the freeway, because our room would face "the other way." When we got to our room, we learned that "the other way" was, in fact, the freeway. I might have been more disappointed if the REAL other way were scenic, but it's the Motel 6. Our room was on the second floor and had a balcony that overlooked the parking lot too, so in the end, we just kept the curtain closed.
The good:
- King-sized bed was comfy enough. We both slept well.
- Small hot tub room. Nothing glamorous, but after hiking all day, a hot tub is a hot tub.
- Clean and quiet room.
- Prompt, friendly service in the lobby.
The less impressive:
- The room had a small coffee maker, but no coffee. (When I went to the front desk to get some, the woman who I believe owns the hotel with her husband apologized.)
- No literature in the room to outline general hotel or travel information, or the TV channels.
- Only one trash can in the room, so you have to choose where you want it more: in the room or in the bathroom.
- The continental breakfast is so so. A few cereals, wheat toast, packaged pastries and what I heard one guest call Costco muffins, cut up in quarters.
Overall, this was a decent stay for the price we paid and what we needed. If I were planning a romantic getaway or staying long term, I'd look elsewhere.
Just stayed there for a night in Oct. This is based on getting a room for under $100 on expedia.
The owner and his wife are very friendly and helpful, and there's a working laundry room too if you're on a trip.
There are places that you pay a lot for and will be underwhelmed; and there are those that exceed your expectations for the price you pay and this is one of them. Better than best western.
the room was quiet so being next to the freeway was actually a convenience.
We were there on 8/15/09 and had booked thru Expedia for $267.00 a night. When checking the actual website of the place, price was $195.00. Totally not worth either price. Supposedly a "Deluxe King" room, had a view of the Motel 6 next door. To go to the beach you walk past a sewage plant. We forgot our tooth brushes and the dude charged me $2.50 for it. What happen to FREE after paying $267.00 a night. We would not stay here again.

The hotel is just okay at best. The bed is comfortable, the room is reasonably clean, and the flat panel TV is nice. But the location is nothing to write home about, and the included "breakfast" is kind of a joke. Occasionally you catch some strange smells, strong cleaning bleach, rotten apples, etc.
It's way pricey for what it is. I'd say it's a reasonable stay for less than $150/night. But of course that will all depend on what the other hotels in the area are demanding too.
