Morning Glory, I love thee.
Hi. I'm Aiden. And I'm a Hello Kitty addict. A coworker told me about this place but I thought that she was probably exaggerating the amount of Hello-Kittyness that this store holds.
Not so.
A lot of the harder to find stuff isn't marked with a price, but the woman who was running the store was very friendly and helpful.
Hello Kitty light strings? Check. Hello Kitty toilet seat? Double check.
Considering it's pretty much across the street from where I do my weekly supply runs for work, I think I'm gonna have to start budgeting in some money to spend there, haha.
I highly recommend this Morning Glory store, even though it's very small there and crowded. So no wheelchair allow, or you'll break things in there. Yeah THAT crowded. Anyways the lady there is very nice, I mean the manager lady, she's really nice and sweet. You can find many things for gift there. I used to shop there for friend's birthday, it was fun. They are not that expensive, they are very creative made on greetings card and stickers and journals! I rather shop at Morning Glory more than Sanrio.
I don't think Morning Glory like a kid store like Sanrio. Ages over 21 loves it too. And I usually went there to buy Korean CDS, and you can also ask them to order it so you can buy it from them! :)
And yes, they accept credit cards! They also sell make up products too like skin care, the make ups that the celebrities advertised like Hyori! There's a lot you'll find, so take your time to look around!
There's these really cute cards that are very creative made by the Koreans! There's HAPPY BIRTHDAY card, there's CONGRATULATIONS card, there's THANK YOU CARD, there's GET WELL CARD!
This little store is along the strip on Aurora that's kitty corner to Central Market on Westminster. Old Village Restaurant is in the same lot as Morning Glory Gift Store. It's in among the Korean grocery store, bakery store and video rental store.
This store is always overflowing with Morning Glory and Sanrio gift items. The employee(s) are constantly putting new things out on the shelves so every time I've been in there there's a disarray of boxes in the back of the store. It's somewhat organized but the searching and scrounging is part of the fun. The gift times range from stationary, wrapping paper, clocks, binders, bags, pillows, and everything in-between. It's lots of fun to go in and browse. Last time I was there the cosmetics were behind the glass counter. Most of the brands are from Korea and Japan. On the counter by the cash register is the latest Korean fashion magazine. It's expensive but some times it's fun to splurge. On a different shelf they display the music CDs of the lastest Korean pop artists.
The lady that works there most of the time is really nice. The employees greet you as you enter and let you look around with no pressure.
Even though there was a Sanrio store within Alderwood Mall I never felt it was as good as this Morning Glory store.
it's 1998 and you're looking for Korean Magazines so you can drool over bands like: H.O.T., 6 Kies, Turbo, NRG, DJ DOC, Shin Hwa, etc. where do you go? obviously to MORNING GLORY!!!!
i used to work at a Hello Kitty store. however, i always wanted to work for Morning Glory instead. their stationary is cuter, they sold Japanese and Korean cosmetics, had an awesome sticker picture booth, the store owner (ah-jeum-ma) is super sweet and STILL there everyday, and right next door- you can get a Paht Bing Soo afterwards.
it's never lacking. there's always something i want to get there each visit. i have many nostalgic times here. i'll never get sick of this place.
P.S. ever wonder where Koreans get their cosmetics, fake eyelashes (yes, people DO look for these), and cute keychain accessories? here. so go..... now.
