There are plenty of places in this City where you can wait in line to pay too much for things that are incredibly rich and delicious, but sometimes you want a place that just does what you would expect really well without a lot of frills - that's Morning Due.
- I've never had to wait more than a few minutes.
- the owners and staff are incredibly friendly.
- the menu options are great, the sources of the food responsible, and the prices right
- the food is consistently really good and worth the price
- the place is sunny, warm, unique and just nice.

Love it, respect it. Its not the best in the City, but its just damn good at everything it does.

WiFi and wine - I set out to find them. An English paper due; an Adderall buzz wearing off,  leaving me edgy. I found this little place after texting KGB on my phone asking for a place in San Francisco opened in the evening with free WiFi and wine, they responded: The Morning Due Cafe.

I showed up at 6pm on a Sunday.

The pros: free wifif, friendly staff, big windows, high ceilings, plenty of seating (the sofas along the perimeter of the cafe being the prime spots). The wine: Mediocre Mondavi - one white, one red -  Four beers on tap, including Samuel Adams and Sierra Nevada. The food was acceptable.

The cons: I feel like I'm sitting in an interrogation room with the lighting and the music is a little too loud and upbeat for an evening of mellowing out and writing. Just as the Adderall jaw clench relaxed with the first glass of Mondavi, the Gypsy Kings were suggesting it was time I hit the dance floor (if there had been a dance floor). My mind was in disarray. Oh, and on a a more practical note, where are the outlets to plug in my computer?

My suggestions, dim the lights, play some chill out music on low volume, add a few more wines and I just might become a regular.

This place is in my 'hood, and it is consistently good.  I have only been there for brekkie, but I always leave satisfied and smiling.
The owners/staff are friendly and helpful, which is always an added bonus.
The ambiance is nothing to write home about, but when you are sleepy eyed and hungry, who really cares about ambiance?
Haven't tried the new addition, but I am curious.
Omelets and bagels with egg and cheese=numma numma.

Eh.  Menu is decent, food is generally competent.  I had the salmon eggs benedict, which was passable--the egg was good, the lox a little salty, the english muffin waaayy too soggy.  The coffee is also a little bitter.  Nothing big to complain about, except that you can do so much better in the Mission.  Like, so much better.

Also, if I'm paying $10 for eggs benedict, I'd like to order through a waiter so I don't have to interrupt brunch to get up and wait in line to order.

I am noticing a disturbing pattern: I have multiple "favorite" cafes....thus, it is at the risk of exposing my patronage promiscuity that I will forge on to say that Morning Due really is (one of?) my FAVORITE cafes in this cafe-ridden village of SF.

The ambiance, cozy; the power outlets, available; the wifi, works; and the fare (including, of course, coffee), ASTOUNDS! Not only do they carry all the scrumptious treats I so love (especially my favorite vegan oatcakes), but they home-cook scrumpdelieeicious mediterranean fare for savory, hearty dishes that are JUST right w/r/t size...and at the same time transport one to unprecedented culinary heights w/r/t quality.

And being located just a few blocks west of Mission urban hipster snob seems to do the trick: they're really friendly.

Mellow little joint within walking distance from me.
I had an egg/cheese croissant and an iced latte.

Croissant: Crispy and toasted perfectly. Eggs and cheese were fresh and super amazing.

Iced Latte: Kind of watery and seemingly a bit weak.

The vibe was cool and the lady at the counter was RAD!

Excellent place on the corner with large windows and many tables. There's some power outlets too. The half roast chicken was great, lots of spices but not over-spiced, and very tender. There's no loud music playing so it's easy to get work done here. The neighborhood is fairly quiet, with the rumbling of the J Church trams going by, so don't expect much people watching.

Morning Due Cafe has quickly become the locale of choice for hungover breakfast among me and my friends. Because honestly, when hungover, you don't necessarily need the pretentiousness of Chow or the continual bass beats of Lime (note: I love both the aforementioned restaurants, despite those comments.)

The atmosphere at Morning Due is sublime. Paintings of Elvis and Prince, among other musicians, line the wall. It has a completely cozy and neighborhood feel, as locals gather for coffee, food and comfort.

The menu is pretty extensive and covers all of your expected brunch and lunch items. Most omelettes come with house potatoes. Oh, and yes, you CAN cure that hangover by consuming more booze. A large (and strong) mimosa is yours for only $4.50. And no, it isn't served in a champagne flute (because, honestly, it's classy, but you waste critical champagne space!)

All of this is served with honesty and happiness. Honestly. The lady taking our order was so cute and friendly. The man who I assume to be the owner quickly cleaned our table and served our food.

All in all, Morning Due Cafe is a lot more than a place to grab coffee. It's neighborhood place to relax, get work done, or to work on that hangover.

PLUSES:

+Sunny

+Nice row of seats each with individual outlets

+Stable Wifi (you do need to sign up for a free surf-and-sip account, which, IMHO, is really no big deal.  They just don't make it super-obvious that it's free so first-timers are always freaking out a bit.  Which now makes me laugh. But, you know, I freaked out the first time, too.)

+Kind of a cool, diverse clientele

MINUSES:

-Poor food selection. Like, really poor.

-Nasty-tasting bagels. Like, really nasty.

-Very slow staff. Like, really slow.

-The owner or manager (not sure what his role is), who is actually quite nice, SHOUTS on his cellphone from inside the cafe.  Like, REALLY SHOUTS. Not cool.

-2nd area of seating has limited outlets

I really only come to this place when I'm not hungry or in any particular rush.  But, since I'm always hungry, and being from NY means I'm pretty much always in a rush, that means I come here pretty infrequently.

Basically, as long as you only want a drink & a place to sit, Morning Dew is a simply adequate cafe.

Friendly service, tasty food, low-key place where you place an order at the register, find a seat and wait for your food. The scrambled eggs I got were seasoned really well with an unexpected and not overpowering flavor, and I loved that the pancakes in Due's combo breakfast are small enough to actually finish. Great serving size! I liked this place a lot.

The whole experience here is great. The food tastes fresh, the service is super friendly and the atmosphere is very serene.

On nice weather days, they keep the door open and the breeze feels great.

This is my favorite place to come when I want to do work on my laptop. They have it all, free wifi, food, beverages, decent amount of seating, and really charming ambiance music.

It's very relaxing and friendly. You can interchange coffee/ice coffee for refills that cost 50 cents. Depending on who is working, sometimes they dont charge either.

Their breakfast potatoes are spiced really well. Very fresh ingredients!

What really makes this place stand out is the atmosphere. You can hang out there for hours. They don't rush you out. It's very welcoming. There are also outlets throughout the place to keep your laptop charged. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner so you really could stay all day if you wanted. Also, they have beer on tap, and wine.

This is a must visit if you are looking for a place to do work, or converse with a friend over food or coffee.

I honestly liked the Morning Due better before the remodel a couple years ago when it was just a coffee shop.  But I can't hate on the family for wanting to spruce up their business.

I still have to love that the Due is always clean, the owners are always super nice to me as well as the rest of the staff, there's free WiFi, and the coffee and pastries are tasty.

Personally, I liked the old Morning Dew...it was cozy and fun with all the books.  This one is pretty good....the breakfast is tasty...I've had 2 different omelets and it comes with potatoes and fruit.  I have also had a sandwich there that was really good...tuna melt, came with potatoes and salad.  Coffee is standard.....Chai was too milky.....3 stars.

They didn't have enough pastries when I came in. I was craving a plain bagel w/cream cheese & tomatoes, but they only had cinnamon raisin, so I decided on a croissant instead, but they didn't have any croissants left, so I finally had to settle for 2 pieces of pita bread.

They serve a decent ceasar salad. Cashews in the ceasar salad, was a delicious surprise. But, our French Fries were cold and not seasoned well.

The service was good, but the manager acted like a cup/ice/water nazi the day we went. No cup for you, no ice for you, no water for you!!

I'll come back, If I'm in Dolores Park and my feet hurt too much to walk anywhere else further than here.

Horrible. If I could give 0 stars I would.

1. service was terrible. I went with a friend and I got my food but she did not. By the time she did (20 min later) I had already finished! To make it worse they got the order wrong and brought everything out seperately. First the sausages, five minutes later the fruit and after another five the pancakes. They forget her toast and eggs and my potatoes!

2. food sucked. My french toast was way too eggy and soggy in the middle. everything was cold. the eggs had absolutely no flavor at all.

3. pitiful portions. I weigh 120 pounds, I'm vegan and I get full really really easily and I was still hungry after this place! I only got two very small halves of french bread. It was the size of a normal piece of bread, not even yummy large bread like most places, just a nasty reguar old piece of toast saturated in egg. The side of fruit was a half a strawberry, a dice sized piece of melon and a small slice of orange. I even drank coffee and I was not full at all after paying 9.50 for crap.

This place is terrible. Absolutely terrible. Dont go. EVER

Try going to Dolores Park Cafe on a warm sunny weekend afternoon -- it's crazy packed.  So I decided to walk a few blocks and give this place a try.  It was clean and friendly, with free wifi and plenty of elbow room.  Perfect.  Until the manager/owner blew his top and shattered my coffeehouse serenity.

I guess some girls came in asking if they could have a cup and the manager went crazy.  Raising his voice and scolding them.  Instead of calmly saying no or offering to sell them a drink with a cup, he totally lost his cool and was furious.  The other employee there said "at least those girls will probably never come back."  Yeah, well me too.

Once upon a time, you were a sleepy and quiet no-frills cafe. Never much of a line, I could order something quick and dash to my hair appointment at Color Box.   It seems you got a lot of sleep and are bright eyed and busy tailed these days.  Your joint was hopping with happy brunchers, lunchers, snackers and laptop snoozers.

I purchased a to-go fresh mozerella, basil and tomato sandwich on cibatta.  When I finally sat down and opened my lunch, I was happily surprised to see a garden salad AND some kind of chorizo/home fries.  Yowza.

My Italian and Spanish stomachs were so happy to see some good take out food grace this sleepy Yelper's plate.  They did a little dance.

im def NOT a morning person so the first time i came to this place to meet a group of people i was not looking forward to it! nevertheless, the menu looked great and suddenly i was excited to be there. i ordered a delicious orange juice and a meal that consisted of scambled eggs, fresh fruit, potatoes, bacon and toast! a very simple plate, the food was delicious, perhaps because of the "homey" vibe the restaurant gave off.

prices were good for what we ordered, and the location is great...near dolores park (which is where watever sun san francisco ever gets goes to!!)
i am really excited to go back for breakfast or brunch in the near future =]

I work half a block away so I am a regular. It is nice to get that neighborhoody "NORM!!"  moment when they recognize me and remember my usual. Coffee could be stronger, and 11 bucks for veg pasta is a teeny steep for me. BUT, the burger with blue cheese is amazing, the lemon chicken also good, ton of HOT food choices (for breakfast or lunch) considering its a lil coffee joint. Nice to have other options than a cold sandwhich in the 'hood. I also love that they got customers involved with naming their new place around the corner. Cute. The owners (husb and wife, plus his brother I think)= a sweet family. (P.S. Lay off them for not giving you a free cup or whatever you got your panties in a bunch about. You try running a business.)

I haven't been back to Morning Dew as often as I first vowed to throw them some regular business, and it's clear that I'm the one who's lost out.  I went for only the second time recently and got the same simple tasty food at the same reasonable price with the same delightful service in the same bright, clean dining room.  I'll try to remember this lesson the next time a friend tries to drag me to Sparky's.

This was the perfect place to go after my BF and I went to church on a Sunday morning at Mission Dolores. Location was perfect for us: Church and 17th on our walk back up to the Castro area. Cute little awning outside brought us in.

SF has several of these coffee-shop counter order-style cafes. I've been to some good ones, some great ones, and others that I'd easily pass up. Morning Due is a great little addition to an otherwise quiet corner.

Morning Due is open for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner but I have only gone for breakfast, twice now. Food is cooked to order, is fresh, and creative. I really liked their cajun eggs, and the spices they put on their potatoes is yummy, and unique.

Patrons self-seat and linger with computers and friends who filter in and out. Counter staff is pleasant and friendly. They have beer on tap and their hamburgers smell delicious- I'll have to go for lunch or dinner next time and update my review. I'm glad they're only two blocks from home. We'll be back.

This morning I had to go to the Children's Council to get fingerprinted for my job. I got there at 8:15 for my 8:30 appointment, so I thought that I would grab some breakfast, and wandered down to Morning Due.

It was great. They serve breakfast and lunch and nothing on the menu is more than $10.95. They serve wine and beer (no, I wasn't drinking booze at that time but I was checking out the menu) and it was so reasonably priced. I was excited to see that there was somewhere in San Francisco to get a glass of wine for under $5.

They decor is really super nice and chill, and there was relaxing music. There was a super chill vibe in there. I ended up getting a 20 oz coffee ($2) and a yummy breakfast of english muffins topped with ham and eggs with a side of home fries with peppers and a small serving of very fresh fruit salad.

The staff was helpful and friendly, there was a female cashier who was smiley and nice (and had great peacock feather earrings, I must add!) and the guy working there, Nizar (spelling?) was really nice and friendly too. I am surprised to hear the review saying that the staff was evil, as that wasn't my experience at all.

I think this place is super cute. There other patrons there ranged from hipsters (it is in the Mission, after all!), to grandpas (awww, peepaw!), to business looking folks.

I dig this place. Go there in the morning and grab a big ole coffee and a yummy breakfast!

We popped into the cafe after an afternoon at the park.  It was nice to have a cafe nearby that not gimmicky.  Great staff, healthy food, free wifi, clean bathroom, reasonable prices, and good music! My man and I enjoyed the veggie burger and french onion soup.  It was pretty yummy. The only bummer was the soup being way too salty.  Other than that, it was a good meal. I'd def go back.

I have lived in this neighborhood for over 6 years and have been coming to this cafe the whole time. Both the coffee and service are excellent. About a year ago, they started serving food. I hesitated quite a while before eating there because I couldn't quite wrap my mind around the fact that this place is now a restaurant as well as a cafe. What a mistake that was! The food here is OUTSTANDING. I don't use that word lightly. Every time I order something new, it's my new favorite thing. Here are my top 3 recommendations:

1. The Chicken Arugula Salad (ask for the dressing on the side, as it can be a bit heavy in my opinion). I am currently addicted to this. I have eaten it 4 times in the last 2 weeks.
2. The burger. Order it just how it comes on the menu: with caramelized onions and blue cheese. You will not be disappointed.
3. Grilled Veggie sandwich. It comes with some awesome mayonaissey dressing on it. Yum!

Morning Due is pretty yummy, I have to say. It is on the pricey side (about $30 for two people), but you know what you're getting into when you go there. They have a delicious caprese salad and burger! And the ambiance is quite enjoyable. If you are looking for a nice lunch with a side of book or laptop time, I recommend trying Morning Due.

This is quite possibly my favorite cafe in SF. It's a wonderful place to work and they have REAL FOOD - not just bagels or dry muffins like a lot of other cafes - and it's good stuff. They have wonderful breakfasts and pasta dishes and two soups of the day.

They also have the nicest people working there in the known universe. It's like hanging out at your best friend's house.

Great place to study or knit on a Sunday afternoon. My only qualm is that the place is really cramped.

And I have to pee like every 5 minutes, which makes it difficult to manipulate around all the people and chairs to get top the bathroom.

I believe they have free internet, and I've only had their drinks. But the hot chocolate is yummy when it's cold and rainy outside.

P.S. The staff is really nice and friendly.

Scenario: Late Saturday morning. Not too hot, not too cold. Sunny. A breezy cafe. A perfect day.

Except that I was at Morning Due to work on a school project. Fuck. There goes my perfect saturday afternoon.

Thankfully, Morning Due made my morning better.

The cafe was fairly full at 11 am, but we managed to snag a table by the door and were able to fit 5 people in the corner. My teammate told me that a bit earlier than 11 am, there was a line out the door, so we came a good time. We were there for about an hour and a half and by the time our meeting was done, the cafe was about half empty.

Morning Due serves breakfast and lunch. I peered over to other people's tables and the food looks really good. I ordered the cinnamon french toast with blueberries. Not bad, but kinda mushy. The maple syrup came in individual packets, but it was very thick and sweet. I didn't even finish the whole packet. The latte was served in a tall glass with a handle, so no sleeve needed. Very foamy. May get a double next time since the single is pretty weak.

The peeps are really nice. Full of smiles. Love it.

I hope to come back free of project deadlines next time.

While on a Mission Dolores visit for my son's 4th grade project, my wife spotted this corner cafe and we decided to get lunch prior to Mission exploration. I split an omelet with my older son which was fantastic. My wife stated that the Eggs Benedict was the best she had ever eaten (high praise).

The woman who took our order was very helpful and suggested some items since we were Morning Due virgins. An overall excellent meal and great little corner gem. We will return next time in the City of Saint Francis.

Chai is not sweet like other places, it's "earthy"  (no thanks)

They offer a teacher discount.

Service is slow and pleasant.

Lentil (vegetarian) burger is strange looking and DELICIOUS.

I like it here.

i like this place. they have a few seats outside and their food is yummy. their coffee is also good and they are in a stellar location near the park/castro/mission on church.

they are also eco friendly like a lot of the places in the city which is totally cool.

i totally recommend this place for something as simple as a coffee to a bagel to a full breakfast. YuMmY...

The Cupcake Bake-Off event planners met here for a pow-wow a few months back, and it was a hoot.

This coffee shop has loads of character, and the local dwellers obviously love hanging out here with a cup of Joe on the weekends.  It gets pretty packed on a Saturday or Sunday.

We scored the corner window table, which is reserved for larger groups.  After ordering some snacks and beverages, we discussed the various rules and regulations of the Bake-Off and what would help make the event more entertaining and fun.

The initial minutes of the meeting went smoothly, although some of the ideas were shot down before they even had a chance to be argued.

Let's just say you're all lucky we nixed the jello-pudding-wrestling/dance-off requirement.

Although obviously it was quite an ingenious idea, SOME short-sighted people thought it would be demeaning, cruel, and unnecessary, while SOME insightful people thought it would be crazy-awesome.

And yes, the latter would be me.
