I liked the neighborhood vibe Morgan's exudes before I even walked in the door and the bartenders did nothing to change that impression.  I liked the feeling that it has windows and plenty of space so you do not feel like you are in some dark, dank, cave with vintage repulsive, wreaking, cigarette stained walls that give you the feeling of being in the ever constricting stomach of a snake, like so many other places around town.

The table arrangement seemed a little awkward but pretty much worked out in the end.

My hamburger was not overcooked, my fries were crispy, and they had a tasty IPA on tap.  Hey!!!  What more could I want???

The Wizard says; "check it out".

Welcome To my neighborhood bar.  In it you will find quite a mix of people.  Yuppies next door, med students, construction workers, grandma, and your friendly neighborhood people.

I like this place because it's laid back. your appearance does not matter but what does is your willingness to interact.

Food : it's good. Burgers are consistent but the fries and onion rings need work.  Actually many of their fried foods are a little too much on the soggy side. unless you like your food as oily as the the state fair eats.

Drinks are fine.  Nothing super strong nor cheap and happy hour ends too early for most working folks.

That said I really like the staff and enough cannot be said how great the people who come here are.  It's just a very social and friendly place.  Do pay it a visit and start up a conversation with a stranger.

    Best.

We met here for a "humpy hour" with fellow Yelpers and a birthday celebration for two of our friends.  This was the first time I'd ever been here or had heard of this place.  It may be considered your average, local neighborhood bar, but it had a nice and airy feel, with big windows for people watching.  The seating area is limited for large groups, but nice for intimate gatherings.  Two pool tables take center stage as you walk in, and the bar is located at the back end.  Televisions are located near the bar with sports playing.   You can also play darts on one side of the room or enjoy the jukebox selections.
They had an appetizing menu that included gourmet burgers, fries, hot wings, sandwiches, and soups.  While most of our party ordered burgers that looked good enough to eat, I ordered one of their specials of the day: broccoli & cheddar soup.  It was delish!  It seemed to have a little too much pepper in it, but the flavor was still the best I'd had in a while!
The bartender was professional and on the ball with our drink and food orders, as our group grew steadily larger.  Everyone was having a good time, and I began to wish that we could have a nice bar like this in my neighborhood!

I imagine that if I came here often enough, Morgan's would truly become the place "where everybody knows your name."

Set apart from the downtown scene in a residential neighborhood, this homey bar is warm and inviting. I stepped in for the first time on my friends birthday and immediately loved the energy and the friendly bartenders. Is that Norm and Cliff at the end of the bar?

It's a great setup, too. Everything a bar regular like myself would need. Two pool tables in the center, pinball, a loaded jukebox and a long wooden bar. My group pulled together some tables and ordered round after round.

I had heard great things about the food but was less than impressed. The fries were soggy and salt-less; the burger was ordered medium and came out well-done. But even this little hickup wouldn't deter me from ordering the food again.

I feel compelled to write a review for this tucked away bar. While I didn't eat any food (except munching on a few fries), I wanted to write about the experience.

This is a no fuss type of place. The bartenders are personable, do it all type of people and the general clientele were average joes, knew mostly everyone in the room and just wanted to have a good time.

Like I said, no fuss...which is exactly what I wanted. Don't try to impress me with velvet seating, fancy ingredients and glossy waitresses. Give me hearty food and a reasonable price, good variety of beers on tap and a good juke box - that's the recipe for success!

We stumbled into Morgans by pure chance because our original destination that advertised "Grill" was not serving anything, hence they lost our business.

It was early afternoon, about 3 PM, half a dozen customers.  The bartender was on top of it, bar was clean, mixed a decent 7&7 for the Mrs.  We ordered the chicken Taco's, 6 of them to be precise.  They were made in the traditional style and were served with some fresh Salsa and sour cream on the side.  Hit the spot, not greasy at all - just enough grilled chicken on each one.  We will be back to try their other grub, it was explained that they prepare everything on site, nothing frozen or processed.  Looking forward to trying their burgers.

This is a great spot for Sunday football. Plenty of screens. Nice open area for heckling the other side not so secretly. The beer selection is decent and typically priced.

But damn! I was hoping for a little more on the food. My friend said nothing but amazing things about Morgans' breakfast selection. I got there after 1 (the official End of breakfast) and ordered a BLT with garlic fries for lunch. It was almost inedible.

Let's start with the BLT. Thanks for using thick cut slices with minimal fat. No thank you to the dry, rubbery two slices. Lettuce and tomato were crunchy and fresh. But my sourdough bread was playable and had NO flavor. This whole thing was a hot mess.

Now to the fries. I'm scared this garlic taste may forever mask everything I eat in the future. I LOVE me a good mess o ghalic. But please toss it in some oil, heat it up to mild out the flavor. This tasted and looked like clumps from a cost co jar.

The fries themselves were nothing salvageable. It you're no sodium you would have loved 'em.

Ps. Credit card only over 10 bucks. I hate places that do that.

Not it's not often I have a craving for bar food.  But when I want it, it better be good.  If I'm gonna be fat, I want to be fat for a good reason, not because I can't help but order the large fries at McDonald's.  Morgan's delivers ...and then some!

From the outside, this place looks like a humble little neighborhood watering hole.  They have a parking lot in back so you don't have to park on the street.  Inside it looks like a nice place to have a few drinks,  clean bar, pool table, video games, darts, TV Screens, nice looking bartender.   I wasn't even sure this place served food until I asked for a menu.

The menu really had some nice looking appetizers and sandwiches.  Garlic fries, bacon stuffed poppers, chicken strips, salads, etc.  I decided to go with the Blue Cheese and Bacon Burger with fries.  They had a number of beers on tap, a lot of local brews.  I went with the PBR (stick with the local brews).

A few minutes later I was rewarded with an impressive sized hamburger and a large portion of fries.  I tell you what, these fries were the best I've ever had, not sure what the chef does but I went through half the fries before I even bothered with the burger.  Hand cut and very hot.  Now the burger is a big honking thing.  I had to cut it in half so that I could get a bite out of it.  Burger was great with plenty of bleu cheese and bacon garnished with lettuce and tomato.  Only criticism is that the burger was charred on the outside.  I know a lot of people like that but crunchy meat isn't my cup of tea, but no biggie.

My only regret is that I am only in town for two days.   I gotta come back to this place next time I am in town.

Imagine a bar.  Now let yourself go crazy and imagine that bar has good food, and sports like soccer and hockey in addition to the regular grunty-types, open seating, good beer on tap, odorless carpets, off-street parking, a pleasant barkeep, clean bathrooms, pool and darts, and no douchebags.  You thought you were in heaven for a minute didn't you?

You were, and you must have been on S Street enjoying THEE BEST ONION RINGS I HAVE EVER HAD IN MY LIFE.  These ones aren't the slimey crap circles where the gross onion attempts to flee its fried coating prison.  Oh no, these beauties are like little onion donuts, pancaked and smooshy, at once crispy and fluffy.   The onion sits, nesting in a little cocoon.. ok, they're great. Go eat them.

Or, if fried isn't your thing and you want something muy caliente with your LOST COAST TANGERINE WHEAT from the tap!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! try their housemade jalapeno poppers. These aren't your reheated Costco variety, these party poppers are whole jalapeno peppers, lovely scraped of their seeds then crammed full of ooey-gooey cream cheese and wrapped in.... BACON!!!! Everyone's favorite heart attack! Yes, bacon-wrapped, cream-cheese-stuffed jalapenos.  And I don't even like jalapenos!

Or, for those who have never been to a bar before and don't want to snack on poppers and rings (weirdos) their pulled pork sandwich has the ability to make me feel something I only feel around Christmastime; their seasonings and spices are phenomenal and the pork itself you can tell was cooked tenderly in-house.  The burger - about as big as my big fat mouth could take.. in fact, bigger.  The pastrami, fantastic rye bread and lean, delicious pastrami any New York deli would be proud to feature.

The owners, a sweet couple (the wife, Cari works behind the bar), also giv a crap about their clientele - any woman who shows up alone gets an escort back to her car.  Now how many bars can you report care that much? Now, it could just be they want the repeat business, ha!  I like that they care and as a single female in Sac (and this is on the border of a particulary sketchy bit of Sac) I appreciate the consideration.

Oh yea, and did I mention the beers on tap?!  This review is already too long, you should have stopped reading and headed down here already!!!

I think this place might be one of my favorite new places, minus the location (it's on 33 and S) this place has a lot going for it. It's a decent size with a decent sized bar...we found 3 seats next to each other with no problem, a few more of my friends showed up and the other patrons were nice enough to move down to make room...super nice people make for a super fun happy hour.....they have multiple pool tables, a juke box and a few video games near the restrooms....this place isn't fancy but thats part of the appeal.

The bartender (who, it turns out is one of the owners) was super nice and friendly. My ID says my address is Folsom (which it wasn't been in a while) and she cheerfully asked me what brought me all the way down here into Morgan's! it was a nice, warm way to break the ice....

I had the potato pesto soup, which was very good and my friends had fried artichokes and meatloaf, they both said their food was very good.....drinks were pretty strong as well, considering my headache today I'm not sure if thats a good or bad thing haha....

I felt pretty comfortable here and everyone seems very nice....so it's worth the extra 5 minutes in the car.....

The best part about Morgans is the Sunday day bartender.  Jessica rocks!  You should definitely stop by when she's working.

a pitcher and a pint of PBR, a pretty darn good pulled pork sammy, and some potato skins that were pretty darn good as well? You sir have me coming back, even though most of the bar was rooting for the Wrong Team. I've passed this place so many times on my way to class, yet never stopped in. Now, I have a reason to stop.

Good food, good drinks, and NEVER diss a bar that has CA Everclear (the 151 version kiddies, 190 is illegal in CA) available for mixing.

They even have darts and pool. Score.

This place is very cool, yet tucked away so you may not have heard of it! Morgan's is a low-frills, no b.s. joint, and I like it like that.

My recommendation: Ride your bike over on a sunny afternoon to share a pitcher, play pool, and grab a bite once you've had too much to drink, (which might happen because you're having so much fun here)!

Morgan's is a pretty good place.

They have good stiff drinks, delicious bacon-wrapped jalapeno poppers, nice bartenders almost all of the time and cool bouncers. All of this in a pretty industrial area of town, it's basically a total whole in the wall and it's a good stop on any bar hop.

It could use some better outside seating so if you're one of those people that can't drink without smoking you might not like it here.

The owner is funny. Don't be surprised if he completely forgets a conversation he had with you on an earlier occasion and tries to damage-control the situation with some hilarious improvising. You can have fun with this.

It's a good place to get your drink on.

Beautiful, helpful happy bartender, who, by the way, let me (us) know that we can get $25, 1-hour massages from the MT's in training over at High Tech Institute.

Two drinks for $6, two pool tables, a couple of dart boards and multiple televisions playing different channels. Great jukebox.

Oh and here's a fun game: If your pool mate misses his or her shot, make them do push ups in front of everyone and then buy you a drink.

Or, walk up to the bar and flirt with a stranger to your right. This can actually get very interesting and some strategy is involved, say if you're a guy and the only seat available is to the left of a woman -- who's male friend (on her left) just went to smoke a cigarette. If you wait too long, you'll be flirting with him and not her. Or starting some drama that needn't be started. Don't worry, no innocents were harmed nor noses broken.

I literally joined Yelp just to write this review. I can honestly say that Morgan's is my new favorite place, as I just relocated to East Sac. The food here is delicious, decently priced, and perhaps most important ALL homemade. Morgan's has a great beer selection ranging from cheap ($2) to tasty and more expensive. Morgan's also has a sizable drink list that is  adequate for even the most adventurous, and whats more is the bartenders are incredibly skilled. The numerous screens in the joint play English or Spanish soccer on top of the common fair Giants games. All this being said what prompted me to write this review was the amazing staff. Patrons are warmly greeted, often by name, and are treated as family. However, the staff is not nosey or obnoxious as is all to common with some places who try too hard to create a similar atmosphere. This place is well worth a visit!!!

Hey, I like Morgan's!  Its close to home, the food is decent, and the ambience is just good old bar ambience.  There are a few good surprises on the juke (but really do you need that much Alkaline Trio)?  Bartenders and patrons are friendly, its always a nice place to be.  Just don't eat anything w/ jalapenos or you will die.  And I like hot.

What would I change?  Well, maybe a couple taps dedicated to some better beers.  That would be a nice little perk.  Stella is fine and all, but if I could get an arrogant bastard or a fransikaner (sp?), I would have even more reason to go there.

    Yay Morgan's!

My neighbor took my boyfriend and I here Tuesday night.  It was cool, really chill. Good mix of people.  No hipsters or trendy alts, which is cool because I didn't feel like being judged for wearing my fuggs instead of my chucks.  There are two pool tables, some video games and a dart board, but last night there were no darts.

The beer on tap is a bit hidden, but they have PBR & Stella so it's all good.  The bartender was nice, very nice and beautiful.

I've never been to a bar that closes at 11 pm everyday, but really, who needs to get that drunk you know?

I used the bathroom and there was a cute corner shelf which would be perfect for doing lines on.  It brought back memories of my days in The City.

People were nice.  A group of "esse's" came in and they brought along with them a shady vibe.

I read a flyer that stated if you ride your bike to their bar on Sunday between 6pm and 11pm, PBR's are $1 a pint and $5 a pitcher.  I just might have to ride over there, even though it's quite far.

I took a look at their menu; kitchen closes at 9 and they smoke their own meat.

I had a good night there.  I will definitely be back to try out their menu.

It's weird going to a bar and playing by their rules (closing at 11pm, kitchen closing 2 hours before then,) but as I get older, I find that I like to drink early and go home to pass out.  I really, really like this place...I'll hold off on an extra star until I try out their menu.

This is a decent little bar.

It's a little out of the way of anything else, so probably a good place to go if you wanna be left alone or are avoiding someone in particular.

They've got a jukebox and a pool table.

Minus points for no dart boards.

It's not quite a dive, but yet not quite a higher class place either.

Due to unfortunate location/zoning, the place closes down at 11p.m.

WHO THE HELL DRINKS BEFORE 11 P.M. ?!?!

Anyways.... the bartender/owner dude is really nice... and you can tell he's hoping to win you over to the dark side... so to speak.... that bastard made me say "when" three times in a row... and I didn't even know we were playing that game!

But you gotta appreciate an owner willing to go the extra mile to chat you up for a sec and make ya feel like a superstar, all the while getting you completely fucked off drunk.

If you like hot food try the bottle caps or the bacon wrapped jalapeno poppers... they do not take the seeds out of the jalapeno's so they are hot so be warned!

They have good turkey burgers and fries. The fries are fresh cut so they are not crispy.

We had dinner there and it was grand. We even ordered additional sides and were surprised to see the generous portions. Our kid was welcome and it definitely had a neighborhood feel. The main bartender could not be more nice. We recently got another bartender and she was sort of snippy. (If you are going to stress out about it being called Wid-Meeeeer, shouldn't you maybe check the website, where they say it is pronounced 'widmar''?)

Anyway, everything else has been aces at this place. It is a great addition to our neighborhood. Go there and give them your money, you won't be sorry.

OK, I started this review about a month ago on my phone.  I never finished it so, I'm finally getting to it.  Pretty cool neighborhood bar & grill.  Great burgers, Seriously.  I dare to say that just behind the Burger Lounge in Tahoe, Burgers & Brew & Nationwide here in Sac, the burgers at Morgan's are right there!!  Also, killer $1.50 tacos (ground beef, chicken, pork) & good priced beer ($6 pitchers of Pabts on Sunday).  Lots of daily drink specials too!  Pool ($1/game), free darts (steel tip) & they're cool with you bringing on your own games like bones!!!

They also have about 6 tvs to watch the games on!! Good breakfasts too!!

And the bonus is it's the closest bar to my house!!!!

I really love this place, and I hesitate to announce it publicly.

See, part of the allure is that it's close by and not well known.  I can go almost any time and it will be pretty quiet, so I can play pool or darts and get their food and drinks without needing to wait for access to the tables/targets/bartenders.

But, the fact of the matter is they have all of that and it's great and people should know more about it.

The food is delicious.  Mostly typical bar fare, with some twists, it's all big portions and reasonably priced.  Plus there is the daily taco happy hour, and there are daily specials on certain food or drink items; different special every day of the week.

I thought about maybe giving the place 4 stars because it closes at 11, which is dang early for a bar.  But, I decided that it wouldn't be right to hold the zoning restrictions of the area against them, as I love having them so close to my home/school.

I used to go to this place when it was Liquid, and it seems generally nicer now.  They have cheap beer (Pabst, Natty Ice) , quality beer (Stella Artois), and a small but tasty menu.  If you like jalapenos, you MUST try the poppers - it's a set of whole jalapenos filled with cream cheese and wrapped in a slice of bacon.  Good stuff, and hot enough to leave me hurting a bit at the end.

Positive: Bartender was nice, food & beer was good, seems to have lots of locals, away from the hustle & bustle of midtown

Negative: Still small and in an odd location, jukebox was really loud for the mellow atmosphere

Excellent food, friendly staff and everything is reasonably priced.  Check out the buffalo burger (see pic), it's beautiful!  Thumbs up, A+, 5-Stars, USA #1 gold medal.

Hey look, it's like Liquid added an air conditioner, a fresh coat of paint, and fixed the bathroom!

The staff is friendly and the place has a good neighborhood feel, except when the jukebox booms into action and overpowers the crowd.  We miss the old staff's unique character, but there's nothing wrong with the current people.

The food here is good, and the jalapeno popper appetizer is great!  Spicy jalapenos wrapped in bacon?  Yes please!  Much better than the occasional mozzarella sticks at Liquid.

Oh yeah, and they have beer and a bar, don't forget about that.  Plenty of choices to keep our crowd of 10-12 happy.

This is a pretty decent neighborhood bar. I have chosen this bar for a meet-up spot a few times because the food is pretty good (for bar food) and there are usually plenty of places to sit. A guilty pleasure is the bacon-wrapped jalapenos stuffed with cream cheese - delicious heartburn on a plate. Downsides are - early closing (11 PM) and the fact that the jukebox is always blaring heavy metal/rap-metal. I wonder if they program it that way so you will have to pay the big bucks to play something else.

Went here for my hub's birthday last week with friends.  It was perfect for what we were looking for: darts, pool, beer, and a cool crowd.  Bartender was super cool.  Love that it was a good mix of people without being so rowdy or a ton of just-turned-21'ers.  Definite plus that it was two blocks from our home.  Can't wait to try the food next time we're there.

Cool neighborhood watering hole! Good food, and a good place to catch the football or baseball game.

On my quest of finding good bbq in Sacramento, I noticed Morgan's sign for pulled pork and tri-tip.  For a $6 sandwich only with a minimal amount of meat, I was very disappointed.  I really can't comment on the flavor of the pulled pork since there was so little of it.  The tri-tip was slightly better tasting but definitely on the dry side.  Speaking of sides, they're all $3 - fries, baked beans, side salad.  For a $9 combo, it's definitely not a  good deal.

I love Morgans we've been going there for some time.  Yes it probably helps we live 2 blocks away and it's stumbling distance, but when we lived a few miles away we would still frequent Morgans.  The first HUGE plus is that they have Chimay on tap.  That's a rarity in these parts.  They also have a decent red house wine.  The food is pretty swell for bar food and there are several veggie options to choose from.  Like having a veggie burger used in anyone of the burgers.  The cobb salad is very uncobb, not sure why it's even called a cobb but it's a good house salad.  If you nix the onions of which there are FAR too many.  I like onions but this is nuts!  The potato skins are good and the burgers are decent (from what I've heard).  The owners are awesome, and I love visiting local, family owned small businesses.  They have darts and 2 pool tables.  The seating is bar or high tables with chairs that make your feet dangle, which I also hate.  I'm a booth girl myself.  But all in all Morgans has everything I like is a neighborhood bar.  Good drinks, good food, awesome staff and a chill atmosphere.  A+

It's a little neighborhood bar tucked neatly away from the main thorough fair but so worth it to stop in. Plenty of room with 2 pool tables and darts and video games. But don't forget about the jukebox on the wall with a really good mix of music. When you get here, you should grab the menu and order the buffalo wings, so good, so cheap. Almost everything on the appetizers is around 5 bucks and you get plenty, not too many places boast that anymore.

I only ever knew about this place because of some road construction detours I experienced riding on RT's 38 route.  It's in my neighborhood, within walking distance, and hubby & I thought we'd give it a try, especially after reading the reviews on Yelp..  We finally had a chance yesterday after mentioning it to a friend of mine who was game to give it a go.  We called and found out that the happy hour was between 4 & 6 pm, and the girl on the phone was nice enough to tell us all about the specials.  Based on that, we thought it sounded good.  So we walked the 6 blocks to get there at 4:00 in the afternoon.  Despite the largeness of the windows, when we walked in, the place was very dark (not like the photos posted here).  We ordered $2 Bud Lights on tap (diet coke for me) and a couple orders of their appetizers ( jalapeno bottlecaps and potato skins).  Long story short, none of us were very impressed.

    Here's why:

When we walked in, every single person at the bar turned to give us a "look" but not a single person said hello or even smiled.

It was way too dark even in broad daylight with the windows wide open.  I know I already said that, but it was notable... I'm not even sure how it was possible to be that dark in there.

No one bothered with the jukebox except us.  There were 10 or more people there and it was quiet, quiet, quiet.  I guess that's understandable though after seeing the outrageous prices on the jukebox.

When we first arrived, there were 2 barmaids, neither was enthusiastic about pouring our drinks.  I don't expect jumping jacks, but a timely acknowledgment would have been nice.

The jalapeno bottlecaps tasted more like bell peppers.  Tasty, but seriously no spice or heat AT ALL.

When we closed out our tab, we were charged for the wrong things and the card was run before we even had the chance to look at what the charges were for.  When we questioned the bartender about it, she stated that she could not go back and void anything now that the card had been run, but we could take it out of her tip if we wanted.  Of course we would tip, but I am never impressed by the stated expectation that a tip is just a given.

If I am feeling daring, I might give this place another try at some point.  But overall, this experience was barely mediocre.

Do you like hamburgers? Well I only like good ones. I have been looking for many years for a really good hamburger in Sacramento and I have to say I have found it. The bar it's self is not quite my thing but the red head bar tender on tue and wendsday is very cool.
