This is a review of the golf course and not the resort as a whole.  The course is beautiful and very well maintained.  I love how you just walk up to the pitching greens and there are always stacked pyramids waiting for you to hit.  The crew works fast and takes good care of you.  There is also a guy who works the golf course named Dave who is one of the most like-able, generous people you will find.

I don't know about staying over night there but if you get a chance to play golf then definitely take advantage of the opportunity.

NOTE: I've never been the golfing range or hotel room, so I will strictly be rating the spa.

When I go get a massage and pay $120+, I expect certain things.  For example, I expect towels to be available.  A shortage of towels can happen at one time or another - but to have four women (at different times) ask the front desk for towels is pretty ridiculous.  When I shower, I expect there to be shampoo, conditioner and body wash/soap.  One out of three is unacceptable.   High expectations? I dare say it's not.  The amenities here are a 1 out of 10.  I guess I should be happy that there was - at least - toilet paper in the restrooms.

It must be noted that my massage therapist, Petra, was great.  I had 0 complaints about her. Unfortunately, unless she decides to work elsewhere, I will not be coming back here to see her again.

If you're looking for a good spa, I'd recommend Torrey Pines.  It's worth every hard earned penny!

This is a review of the accommodations only. We are not golfers so chose to stay here based on the quiet location, and we fell for the website description.

We stayed in the building called Stratford. It used to house the Day Spa. We only know this because a small sign on the stairs leading to our second floor room said "Day Spa - Rooms 513-524. We went to check it out. No day spa. We inquired with the maid service and they said that the spa hadn't been in the building for at least two years, when a new building was contructed just for the a Spa. Why not take down the old signage? The building does however still spell like a spa - however, not a fresh clean one.

The rooms...you are not getting a Hyatt, Hilton or Marriott experience. No nice high thread count sheets, no plush towels, no jacuzzi tubs and the pillows! They have been around for forever! No modern features of any kind. Very 70's furniture - old, used and deeply in need of modernization. It isn't even the old style that one could appreciate given how well used the furniture is.

We didn't spend any time in the pool. Not because we didn't want to. On Saturday evening we headed to the pool and jacuzzi at 8:50 p.m. The spa was closing in 10 minutes but the receptionist at the front desk of the spa invited us to use the hot tub anyway - and told us about the door that leads us back out onto the property, and which cannot be used to get back in.

Sunday afternoon - 5:00 p.m. I went to the front desk to get a newspaper or to purchase a magazine. The unfriendly front desk attendant said she just "sold" her last paper and there is no hotel gift shop to make small purchases - so forget about a USA Today or Wall Street Journal at your door in the morning.

Sunday night after a busy day downtown and surrounding areas - we headed to the hot tub. It closes at 8:00 p.m. Now we are two adults in our early 50's. There was more commotion that we could hear from the restaurant bar at 8:00 p.m. from people watching football then ever could be heard from anyone in the hot tub at 8:00 p.m. Btw - you are charged a $15.00 per day spa fee - regardless if you use it or not.

I would never recommend staying here, however the location is beautiful. It is so obviously in need of major updating - after all it is in Rancho Santa Fe - and I would imagine used to compete with several hotels and resorts in the area. The website and the room shown is not representative of what you get. A huge disappointment.

We had our wedding here in May.  All I can say is that these folks helped me to have a wedding I will never forget!  Louise is a fantastic organizer and ensured that everything went off without a hitch.  The food was delicious, the ceremony was beautiful, and our photographs turned out perfectly!

I had originally thought we would have our wedding at Admiral Kidd or the like, but we wanted a small wedding of 50 and this was one of the few places that did not have a 75+ minimum.  For the price we would have paid at Admiral Baker, we could have our dream wedding at Morgan Run.  We had the wedding out on the putting green and the reception inside, and since this place is a hotel/resort, our out of town guests (including my parents) stayed here.  Jeff's folks even got a room for the wedding night and we were comp-ed the Honeymoon Suite, so we pretty much took over a big chunk of the hotel.  :-)

I can't say enough about the staff here and their helpfulness throughout the entire wedding process.  I highly recommend it!!  We even got a round of golf comp-ed so my new hubby got to go play with my dad!

So I came down here for a wedding this past weekend. Apparently my parents came down here before, and what they told me what to expect was pretty much right on!
Yes, the resort is nice and secluded, off the beaten path.
When I arrived, there are separate "halls". The rooms are in clusters, alleviating the traffic.
But when I entered our hall, there was this really crappy odor. Either it was mildew, or someone cleaned the carpet with dirty water.
The rooms were fair, but not really kept up. Reminded me of downtown Vegas.
The golf course was nice. But again, I noticed lots of areas really needing some work!
Would I stay here again? Probably not, only if the price was better.

I have stayed here a couple of times and liked it.  Nothing fancy, but comfortable.  I thought that the room rates were a good value.  Nice and quiet, and great for those who golf.  Each time here, it was when there was a holiday party I was invited to in one of their banquet rooms.  Good food and service.  People who have been critical, need to realize that this isn't the Ritz Carlton, and is not intended to be.

One word - over rated.

Their $200 rooms have the same 70s quality as an EZ-Motel. The staff is rude and acts like they are better than you. Granted the place is quiet and has all the amenities of a resort, but in terms of overall ambiance and environment it is lackluster at best. Plus it is way off the beaten and not worth a trip whatsoever. They need to majorly renovate this place to make it worth even $100. The buildings need to be better marked as well otherwise this place looks like an outdated condo complex (which is what it looks like when you drive up). The reception area looks like a 5 star a resort, which is totally misleading because once you get into your room all hope is lost when you see the horrible bedding, cheap towels,  the same cheap soaps and toliet paper and the same tacky 70s motel decor in the room. It's also extremely smelly. When you go to any resort it should smell like some department store fragrance not an old laundromat. Very disappointing.
