LOVED this place when I spent a summer working in town. On my lunch break during a hot day, nothing was better than getting cold iced coffee. I'd gotten some food here once or twice, but nothing special. It also has WiFi, which is a rarity in this town. If I recall correctly, two computers for public use as well.

I visited this place while on a trip visiting my sister in Maine. I have to say this easily became my favorite cafe and coffee house and can easily see being a regular customer if only I had residence in Maine. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a tasty pastry or coffee or tea.

Good coffee and excellent pastries. One of the few places around with free wifi, so this was my oasis. Filled with all sorts of stuff on the walls including a talking moose head next to the bathrooms.

My wife and I went to this place on the recommendation of a family member. That member has been disowned. The service was horrible, the coffee average at best and the muffin tasted three days old. I don't know what cafe the other reviewers have gone to but it couldn't be this one. I waited at the register to order as the 3 people behind the counter all acted busy. Finally a man that was sitting at a table in the cafe got and wandered behind the counter. He says, You need something? I said yes, I need to order. They took my order we sat down and my 1 1/2 year old son spotted stuffed teddy bears, displayed at his height I might add. He took a couple of them and placed them on the table while my wife had a muffin, that was dry and stale and I sipped on my average coffee. We made sure my son didn't get anything on the bears. I remind you, we were conscious of this. We got up to leave and woman rushes over and confronts my wife saying we have to purchase all the bears because my son had his dirty little hands all over them. I told her no such thing took place and we weren't buying the bears. She mumbled and grumbled acting like the troll she resembled. I told her that was pretty rude and maybe they shouldn't display them were kids can grab and see them. She did not agree. So all in all if you have kids or don't want lousy service and food avoid this place at all costs.

This is a friendly, down-home place that gets the job done with a smile. Note: I am a Brooklyn-based picky type who hangs out a lot in Paris and has lived in San Francisco. The Moosehead is not "that" type of place: it's a place to get drinks that mix coffee and ice cream, not raw food treats or high-end european snacks. But it has a GREAT wifi signal, friendly employees, decent coffee, and, best of all, you are treated well. Even when they are clearly in the midst of closing, you won't be kicked out. You get the feeling they'll stay as long as there are customers. Employees are sweet-faced kids and what appear to be a family. There is a talking Moose-Head who will entertain visiting kids. There are even totally free computers if you've forgotten your laptop. This place has my vote, big-time, as a nice place to chill out. They don't hassle you, and if you want some fresh berry pie or a nice home-cooked breakfast of eggs, waffles, and bacon, come on in and sit down. Thanks, Moosehead. You keep us from feeling too cynical and full of ourselves.
