Love this place.  Anytime we are in San Jose, you can find us here. The small details are what truly make it special.  The rooms are spacious but cozy and clean. The beds are fluffy and oh so comfortable. The staff are warm and friendly. Staying at the Club level you even get milk and cookies before bed time!

The pool area is great, you feel like you're in Vegas, with the cabana style pool chairs.  The brunch is fabulous and inclusive when staying at the club level.

If you are debating between this and the Hotel Valencia, well there's no question, stay here.  It's only a quick cab ride or a short drive down moorpark street.

Thank you Moorpark and Joie De vive

So my BFF and I decided to book a night during her visit to SJ. We were giddy with excitement as we stepped into the clean, welcoming lobby. Rushing upstairs to our room, we quickly unlocked our door and marveled at the sheer size of our suite! Plush robes were carefully placed on each bed- and we took no time in stripping down and utilizing their terry cloth goodness.

As the eventing approached it was time to take advantage of all the space! Clothes everywhere, stilettos lined up for selection, and every counter space looking like a MAC makeup store, we began the ritual of getting ready for a girls night out...

It was fabulous! Not only was the bathroom huge, but there was a separate area just inside the door with an extra counter and mirror... perfect for TWO girls getting ready at the same time!

Once ready, the hotel called a taxi for us and we headed to LG. The next morning we woke up late, had a quick bite in the hotel restaurant and said our goodbyes.

It would have been a great weekend no matter what, but the Moorpark def made it extra special : )

i booked this hotel for me and the hubs for the weekend of rock the bells. it was about a 15 minute drive to the shoreline. (who the hell wants to stay in mountain view and whats there to do there??) anyways, i was a tad bit skeptical because i read around that the area wasnt the greatest, which it wasnt, but lets just say i wasnt scared at night. it is san jose, not the hamptons people; very do-able! check in was super quick and easy, the people at the front desk were very nice. as soon as we walked in our room we received a call asking if everything was ok. a couple hours later we called housekeeping for an iron because i think someone totally gaffled ours? and right after received it, again, we got a call asking if everything was ok or if we needed something else (nice! who does that?) we didnt do much walking around the hotel except for to our room, but  BOY was this place nice! our room was spacious, clean, and tidy, and the bathroom is GINORMOUS! i felt comfortable in this hotel, and well taken care of. an overall 2 thumbs up.

did i forget to mention we booked our room for $70 a night?! AH..the icing on the cake. yum!

Great hotel! Of all the accommodations we've been on this trip (1 B&B and 3 hotels), this one is the best. The bed was comfy, the pillow was perfect, and the room was clean and cozy. I would definitely stay here again!

Stayed here for one night during the weekend.  We were having dinner in town.  Check in was quick and easy.  They gave us a little bottle of wine and a welcome card after checking in.  The room was spacious and they had robes!  I love robes :-)   The front desk called after we arrived in our room to see if everything was okay.  Every staff member we saw greeted us.  We had a couple of drinks at the bar.  The bartender was friendly.  They have dvds at the front desk that you can borrow for the night.  We couldnt get our dvd player to work so they sent someone up.  We got a call after to ask how everything was.  Great staff :-)  Would stay here again!

If you want a quiet place to talk with a bar and food, this is a very nice option.  Their food comes from Tony Roma's next door, but even if you come after they stop serving, they can still call Tony Roma's to deliver for a small fee.  And it doesn't come in a to-go doggie bag.  There's indoor and a small patio outdoor seating.  There was a guy outside smoking a cigar, added bonus if they allow that.

The Moorpark Hotel is sort of an anomaly in San Jose. From the outside, you'd expect the Holiday Inn, but from the inside, it's much much nicer.

Front desk service is friendly and attentive while our Club Level room was spacious with high ceilings and a fantastic large bathroom.

If you stay "Club Level" you get an inclusive breakfast the next morning and milk and cookies at night, which are apparently placed in the lounge area of the 3rd floor. They were all gone when we got back from dinner out. We also missed breakfast the next morning because the beds are so comfortable, you don't want to leave...even for food.

There were a few oddities though. First, although minor, is their bathroom amenities were sub-par. The mini shampoo and conditioner were typical cheap-hotel ones that totally strip your hair and there was no mini lotion...something I would have appreciated since I forgot to pack mine. Second, while we were given friendly and clear instructions that check-out was noon, at 11:30am on the dot, a lady knocked saying "mini-bar!". I opened the door and she said "Oh, you have late check-out?" I stood there confused and said "Um...no, I thought check-out is by noon?" She said "Ok I'll come back"...this was weird because there was no acknowledgement that yes, check out is at noon and yes, it's 11:30...

Overall, a decent hotel choice when staying in San Jose.

Nice and clean local hotel. Great place to stay without spending too much, yet experience pretty good service, enjoy a clean room and have a great comfortable bed.

Try to avoid staying in a room on the second floor near the lounge area - sometimes people play billards a bit too late or early for my personal tastes. We were warned when we got our room, but the place was fairly booked when we did our last minute reservation/checkin.

I wouldn't consider this a party hotel though - the decor is more for comfort than for style, and the rooms are pretty PG safe - I can't remember anything other than cable TV being available (no movies on demand or other fun stuff har har...)

This place has got the comfiest beds I've ever slept on in my life. It's like sleeping' on a cloud!

I love this hotel! I booked a room for my birthday 2 years ago. Once I got to my room, I received a phone call from the front desk. He asked me, "How is everything Ms. Ventura?" I thought I was in trouble but he just asked if everything was okay. How nice right?!

This place is right next to Tony Roma's which is where I had my birthday dinner at. It was very convenient because the hotel was literally 2 steps away and my guests didn't have to move their cars or anything. Once we all went up to my room, the real party began. We were being loud and the music was blasted, never once did I get a phone call from the front desk asking us to turn the music down or to be quiet.

This place also offers complimentary breakfast for their guests, which is nice! Especially after a night of hard-partying! ;)

My BF and I stayed at The Moorpark Hotel on a Saturday night.  The hotel didn't seem very busy and we learned from one of the nice folks that work there that it's mostly a business hotel.  We were upgraded from a Queen to a Club Level King room, so that was a nice surprise.  With the Club Level Room you get a free breakfast, free wine in the evening and a $10 minibar credit.  There's not much to see within walking distance.  Applebee's is across the hotel parking lot for any late night hunger pangs.  I would stay here again.  It's a quick drive to Santana Row and SJC.

I frickin love this place. I found a cockroach in my garage and freaked out and had my house sprayed the same day. The Moorpark Hotel was right down the street from me, and had super easy access to hwy 280, which is what I take for work, so I decided to give it a try. They were so accomodating. Jessica Fleming at the front desk was so welcoming and gracious. I've used it since just to stay and get away, use the pool, and the breakfast buffet is pretty amazing, way more than I expected. It was also super clean, and had at least 300 thread count sheets, which is pretty impressive for the price they charge. On top of all of that, the shampoo, conditioner, face wash, lotion, etc are from Lather at Santana Row. Who can beat that???? Many more nights to come for me I'm sure.

I've found my refuge when visiting friends in San Jose!  DH found this hotel on the internet, and it was I who was skeptical about it, seeing as that it wasn't a hotel I've heard of before.  Man, was I wrong!

Clean hotel, courteous and friendly staff, and centrally located.  *ching*  I even liked their apple decor.  The best part of their location was that we didn't have to drive to get to good food.  Across the street is Mitsuwa, a dumpling place, a noodle house, and a Japanese bakery.  What more could you ask for?

We even partook in the breakfast buffet.  I normally hate hotel breakfast buffets.  But, this was rather decent.  The staff was so friendly to help us with our arms full of food and dragging the kiddo in the stroller.

The week we visited was Easter week.  The staff was so thoughtful as to make all the kids small gift baskets with candy, a toy, and sunglasses.  Very cute touch!

I like you're thinking Moorpark hotel . . . always thinking about the customer.  high five!

A friend came down from San Francisco for the weekend, both for his birthday and for a night of partying with friends.  When he does this he tends to get a hotel, one near the festivities and big enough for friends (read: ladies) to crash in after a night of drinking.  This is a very nice hotel, for decor, staff and comfort.  The decor, both in the lobby and in the rooms is nice and spacious, and on the Club floor you get milk and cookies at night, wine tastings in the afternoon, breakfast in the morning, vouchers for the mini bar, and a complimentary bottle of wine.  Nice, hmm?  Unfortunately, the only thing we used was the bottle of wine, because we weren't there for the rest and slept in way beyond breakfast.  The beds are very comfortable and the free wifi is very fast.

The front desk staff was very friendly, but the housekeeping staff apparently doesn't understand the concept of checkout time.  At a quarter to 12 (check-out time) housekeeping was knocking on our door, wanting to clean our room.  When we said we weren't quite ready to leave yet, she got mad and told us we should have requested late checkout!  Why would we do that?  We were going to be gone by 12, we were just finishing packing up our stuff, but she didn't care when told that.  Apparently, she believes that you should be out well before check-out time so she can get on with her job.

I would definitely stay at the Moorpark again, but I would request late checkout, just so I don't have to deal with housekeeping again.

Now if you're looking for a clean, friendly staffed, home-feel hotel in San Jose, the Moorpark is the perfect joint for you. Also, It's just minutes away from Santana Row.

Within minutes of checking into my room, I received a call from the front desk where the staffed ask me such questions as, "How do you like your room Mr. B? Is there anything else we can do for you?" I was impressed. I did recall calling them back to ask them for more towels. After I received the towels, I received another call from the lobby staff asking if they have fulfilled my requests.

In the middle of the night, they leave out cookies and milk in the hallway's table on each floor. I had to try out a cookie. Not too shabby. When I booked this room, I also included their breakfast. I figured that since I had to catch an early flight out of San Jose Airport the following day, it would be convenient for me to eat downstairs before I departed. The food was pretty good for the few dollars that was added to my hotel bill. However, when I recently queried this hotel, I saw that the breakfast deal has gone up. Don't ask me why..?

I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone who is looking for a place to stay in or around  San Jose. To sum it up, it's a cozy joint where they make you feel right at home.

This is a very nice place to have an affordable getaway.  The hotel looks as if they bought a Days Inn or some other motel, but then gave it a total makeover. All the structural elements of typical motel are still there, but they're cleverly hid under the tasteful furnishing, and the wonderful service.

The club level rooms are really the way to go, with inclusive hot buffet breakfast, wine tasting the afternoon, milk and cookies at night, and vouchers for the honor bar, one really feels like they're being pampered, even if you're really just next door to Applebee's.

Even with all those nice touches, the most outstanding thing is the service. Everyone that worked there was very pleasant, greeting us by name, asking how we were, and genuinely helpful.

The only reason I took one star off was that our bathroom faintly smelled, for a while, as if there had been a gas leak in there. (I know that sounds like I'm being funny, but it really smelled like that) Also, it seems that the hotel does kinda have a vibrate at times. I have theory about this, it was from about 5pm -6pm that hotel seemed to throb, and since it was right off the freeway, I think it might have something to do with the heavy traffic on the 280. Call me crazy, but that was all I could figure. I might be wrong about the reason, but there was definitely a low level throb that lasted about an hour.

In writing, both those things might seem kinda major, but I insist that our time at the Moorpak was so nice, that there was no way that they actually distracted from our trip!

Who knew that the city of San Jose would have their very own Joie de Vivre hotel?  ;D There are actually 2 Joie de Vivre hotels in San Jose, the other being Hotel Montgomery.

Moorpark Hotel really *is* located in a weird part of San Jose, which borderlines Saratoga and happens to be right across the street from my all time favorite ramen joint, Do-Henkotsu!!

The exterior looks like any other hotel, but once you step inside it's a whole different world.  A warm fireplace with plush red couches welcomes you as you step foot into the hotel.

My BF booked a "club level" room for the weekend.  The "club level" is designated for the entire third floor and doesn't give you that much *extra* access to anything else if you had reserved a regular room otherwise.  3 convenient extras are: having a complimentary breakfast (from 7-10 A.M.) served on the third floor, so if you're lazy (like me) you won't have to stray far from your room; complimentary wine tasting; and 1 free drink from the mini bar.

I liked using the Aveda products in the bathroom.

Things I like about the hotel:

-Sodium lamps in the parking lot; it's like you're color blind!
-Wierd green apple theme.  There were green apples on our notepads in the meeting room, green apples for lunch, green apples in the lobby as decoration.
-Geometric interior design stuff.  Interesting.
-Maid made our bed in multiple different and interesting ways.  Pretty neat.

my fav hotel in san jose. its reasonably price and the rooms are so nice. It reminds me of the Hotel Valencia, but with out the crowds, loud music all night long, and the huge price tag. very cozy. Its not a super ritz place, but you get a lot for your buck.

We stayed here for one night last November for one night for my son's birthday.  Instead of having a birthday party, we ended up booking a room here and our closest friend over so the kids could go swimming.  What was also great about this hotel was that they had a pool table and the guys were able to drink beer and shoot some pool at night.  The hotel is very stylish, the staff was great, and the hotel is super clean.  The only slightly negative thing was that when we arrived at 3pm, they didn't have a room for us and asked us to come back an hour later.  Everything else was great.  Oh, and it is located in a great location...right off the freeway...and across the street from Mitsuwa Marketplace.

When it comes to the major things, this is a really nice hotel. They use beautiful fabrics, woods, stone and decor throughout the entire place. The food is ok, but I have a limited sample on it based on breakfast items (cut fruit, juices and a sundry array of pastries) and a boxed lunch (which included a sandwich, apple, salad and cookie).

What makes me rate this hotel lower is that it lacks in the little things (and if you've read some of my other reviews, you know how important the little things can be to me). In the hotel rooms, they use some of the thinnest toilet paper I've ever seen. It's almost appalling considering that they have this wonderful rosemary mint shampoo and conditioner and not less than three feet away they have rolls of see-through thin toilet paper. They also had a few oddities w/their food. They do have a green apple motif going on and they gave us apples at lunch, at each seat in our conference table, etc, etc. But they weren't the freshest apples. And the cookies from lunch tasted fine, but they completely recycled the leftover cookies, sprinkled powdered sugar on them and then served them up to us two hours later as a snack. Another drawback (though this really has no bearing on the quality of the hotel but is more a preference thing) is that they don't offer a complimentary breakfast. You pay for every crumb you consume in this hotel.

The Moorpark is part of the Joie d' Vivre chain and I've stayed at another one of their hotels before. Knowing the quality that was provided at the other place and seeing the tremendous effort put into the larger features of the Moorpark, I expected them to pay more attention to the fine details as well. That to me is a true mark of high quality and class.

I like this place. Had heard good things and then when i had my family come into town, they all stayed there. Very nice hotel. Great style. Didn't try the restaurant though. The location is funny...you wouldn't expect that nice of a hotel at that intersection, but it works...perfect freeway access to 280. I'd recommend this hotel.

A stylish, moderately priced hotel in an awkward Silicon Valley/San Jose location. The Moorpoark is managed by the local boutique hotel company, Joie de Vivre. The accomodations are clean and contemporary. Bring your CDs and DVDs to play in the in-room stereo. The terrific pool area features cozy cabanas. A small but satisfying bar and restaurant delights. The Moorpark is not near anything of import so expect to drive or take a taxi everywhere. About 10 minutes from downtown San Jose.

I cannot say my experience at this hotel lived up to the service oriented reputation. I must admit the check in process established the tone for our stay. Right off the bat, the front desk representative asked for my ID and credit card. Before he looked at them, he had assumed the registration was under my wife's name. I proceed to inform him that the registration is under my name. There was no apology.  As this process continued, I was asked to complete the registration form requiring my home address and car info. Although I could not remember my license plate number but completed the make and license as best as I can and this section. The staff asked for the car model and color which was not on the form. So I walked toward the door to check my vehicle, the clerk told me it was not necessary. The info would be used in case if my car alarm goes out and the staff needed to alert me. Though the explanation is plausible, no apology for the extraneous effort. Throughout this process I was not asked for room preference. So a room was assigned. We proceed to the room, a nice two queen size beds room. My wife was disappointed  as she preferred a king size bed so she called the front desk and they switched us to a handicap room that had a king bed. In this case the staff was very eager to ascertain our satisfaction because he called as we arrived in our new room. Nice gesture but we considered a little late for redemption. The room was pleasant but we can clearly hear the pool table in the lounge area not far away. As I said at the offset, the stay was set by my check in experience. I believe the front desk clerk should practice sensitivity and consideration toward his guests. I would provide this same comments with the hotel management if they had comment cards in the room.

My husband and I had a much needed vacation from our two toddlers at this hotel in San Jose.  This place was the perfect retreat!  The staff was so friendly and helpful (especially Jessica, who we had the pleasure of having as our first contact at the hotel.)  We had a room on the club floor which included a credit for the minibar, an evening cocktail, cookies and milk for a bedtime snack and an excellent buffet breakfast in the morning.  We were treated like so well but it was a very affordable cost.  The room was large and clean.  The Bamboo complimentary hair products and lotions were very nice.  They had a nice selection of DVD's at the front desk that were also complimentary to use with the in room DVD player.  The hot tub and pool were nicely heated.  The weekend that we were there, the hotel restaurant was not open for dinner.  My husband and I walked across the street to the Asian grocery and picked up some Sake and freshly made sushi that we enjoyed in our room.  Definitely a nice hotel.  We would not hesitate to stay there again.
