Yay! Very yummy food for a great price. My boyfriend and I got the buffalo chicken sandwich. In the future I would get it on Texas toast. By the end of my meal my bun was very soggy. But I am a very slow eater. The staff was super nice and were talking to all the patrons giving advice about the town. My parents got the pulled pork sandwiches and fried green tomatoes and said they were some of the best.

Pretty awesome. I spent an entire summer working in the area (at Callaway Gardens) and a large group of us would hit "Whistlin'" at least once a week and we never got sick of it.
The key menu item to check out if you only get to visit once is the 'chick-tater'* (or the NEW buffalo chick-tater!). It's a baked potato packed with butter, sour cream, cheese, and (here's the key) fried chicken. Picture it as a classy version of a KFC bowl without the bowl(well, as classy as you can get with BBQ, lets not get too fancy here). While I wasn't overly impressed with it, everyone else I knew quickly became obsessed. I will say that the fried chicken is incredible and somehow stays crunchy until the last bite even though it's covered in topings.
I ordered their regular old BBQ sandwich almost every week. The sauce isn't mind-blowing, but the pork is done extremely well. A great smoky flavor and tender. A solid sandwich to be sure, but I wouldn't track this place down for it. My big draw every week was regularly filling up a table of 8 or more with good friends.
*P.S. The chick-tater is likely the best hangover food in the universe. -

I had the chicken tender special: Chicken was slightly dry (BBQ sauce helped with that problem), Green beans, BBQ Beans were Delish, and the Sweet Potatoe Souffle was amazing. Next time: veggie platter for me...meat is too dry...I'll head down to the 3 Lil' Pigs for my BBQ Chicken. Fast and friendly service on the take-out delivery.

Do you like down-home good ol' Southern Cooking? Come to this place and you will leave happy - and full. On our visit to nearby Callaway Gardens, we had a choice of Subway or this place. We chose the Whistling Pig for its unusual name. Inside, it is not the cleanest looking place but it has the constant aroma of fresh barbecue in the air. Ribs, chicken, fried okra, and more make their menu hard to decide what you want since it all looks so appetizing. The diverse cross-section of the population eating there included construction workers, business types having lunch, locals with their families, and we even saw a car with a US Government license plate in the lot. The Whistling Pig is a true form of what Famous Dave's restaurant chain tries to emulate as a southern style BBQ restaurant.

Not five stars, not by far. Pretty good BBQ, dang sure ain't no five star BBQ! Might be the best on this portion of the road, but for real good BBQ head on over to Warm Springs --- I will leave the exploration part on that up to you.

Yep, it's that good. Consistently good and delicious barbecue. For a real treat, try the chili cheese slaw dawg.

Maybe the best BBQ I've ever had. I live in California but come back here to see family and, whenever I can, get some pulled pork sandwiches and baked beans. Fries are solid too.
