By far the best burger in Cedar Park and one of the best in Austin - It easily rivals P Terry's and is better than Mighty Fine - The fries are pretty good as well.

I usually get the Swiss Mushroom burger with grilled onions and its INCREDIBLY delicious.  The grilled buns and everything all together were great.

My 5 year old autistic son loves this place.  He chows down his cheeseburger and fries with glee and loves that he gets a snowcone with his meal as well.  This is the first and only place he has ever had one and he thought it was awesome!

I almost forgot to mention - this place is ENORMOUS inside, so if see a lot of cars, don't worry they'll definitely be room.

This is a pretty cool place.  Very relaxed atmosphere that is open to families.  Parking seemed a bit tight but manageable.  I enjoyed the burger.  It was a good size with fresh innards.  My favorite part of the burger was the bun.  What a great bun.  The fries were marginal.  They did have sweet tea which always makes it worth the drive to Cedar Park.  I would recommend for an easy family friendly meal.  But, as any good burger place, it will not come out super fast so don't be impatient.

Not impressed. Burger pretty much tasted like an ihop burger. It was greasy as all hell, the bun was just this squishy sponge of grease. Sweet potato fries were meh. I just dont know what all the hype is about SORRY!

This is a favorite with my kids. They love that after they eat, they can go back up to the counter and get a free sno cone (to those that "didn't get it" you have to send the kids back up there - that way it's fresh!).

I usually get the California chicken burger and sweet potato fries, which is really good. My husband usually gets the Western burger and onion rings. He says their onion rings are excellent and the burgers are "pretty good" - nothing fabulous, but well enough. The kids rave about anything to do with Moonies - even the tiny play area (my kids are 6 and 8 but still like to go over there and mess around while waiting on the food).

The atmosphere is very relaxed. I could do without the country music, but it wasn't overpoweringly loud. The service is good, the kids working the counter are usually paying attention and they are great with the kids.

The place is reasonably clean, but I have noticed that the tables are usually sticky. It doesn't matter how much you clean them. I think the wood is just giving off sap or the lacquer is screwed up or something. Hopefully they will replace them soon because if it was my first time there and the tables were sticky, I would be annoyed. This also means that the chairs stick to the bottom of the floor. It's kind of funny actually.

... and, best of all (according to the kids), each kid's meal comes with a sno cone! Now you cannot beat that! :-) (I had to say this twice because my son said it's the most important part.)

Next time you are up this way, come hungry and check out Moonies - you will not be disappointed!

The bun makes the burger!  Not that the burger itself is bad mind you.  I've had almost all of them and none have ever disappointed!  The fries are battered and fried and are the best I've had in, well, ever.  In fact, if the food sucked, I would still go and eat a pile of fries all by themselves.

The service has always been friendly.  No valet parking though just in case you were expecting it from a burger place.

The Frito pie burger has the bonus of being a Frito pie on top of a burger.  Duh.  Ask for extra sauce on the Western Burger.  MMMmmmm...  extra sauce...

By far one of my favorite burgers in Austin area. I'm not a huge fan of Bleu Cheese in general, but the Buffalo Burger is fantastic. Moonies always gets points for their buns and fries as well as there authentic Southern Sweet Tea. One of my top 5 burgers in Austin area, I would say competing with Casino El Camino for me.

To the 'Californians' that complain about everything and have a general craptastic attitude "Oh well back in California".. Go back to California please...

I went to Moonies on a Sunday around 12:30.  Wow that place was packed. The line was going to the door, and after eating there I know why.

So the line was to the door, but you know it only took less than 10 minutes before I was able to place my order.  You'd think with them being busy as all hell that I would have also had to of wait 20 minutes for my food, but it was also ready within 10 minutes.  Now that is how places should be.  Quick.

They have a daily special that was $7.99.  You get any burger you want, fries or a salad, and a big 32 ounce drink.

I ended up getting the California Burger.  Man it was delicious.  It's a burger with pepper jack cheese, lettuce, tomato, bacon, and some really good guacamole.  It looks like they bake their own buns too, because they were really fresh.  One weird thing though, they butter and toast the hamburger buns.  It's good, but the sweetness of the bread caught me a little offguard.

The french fries however, I didn't care for them.  i don't know if they make them from scratch or what, but it's those frys that have the crunchy flakes on the outside.  I'm not sure of a better way to describe them, but you've had fries like this before.

When I was done eating and ready to leave, the line was still going to the door.  That place is good and people know it.

It's also open on Sundays.  Originally i was going to try that Top Notch place, but they're closed. Then that Gabbys place, but they're closed on Sundays too.

When the line is out the door at lunch time......you know it must be good.

Great burgers. Excellent fries. Can't go wrong with their beer selection.

This place will not disappoint you one bit.

A diamond in the rough in Cedar Park.

Wonderful CRISPY french fries.... delicious sweet bun with yummy burgers... great toppings.  Fresh, inexpensive, relatively quick and very casual.  Great place for families looking for a good burger and not wanting fast food.

Very kid (and sports team) friendly.  They basically have burgers and sno cones.  The hamburger buns are very very thick.  The fries are battered.

I've been here a couple times now, and thought the food was pretty good. I don't eat beef anymore, but my wife said her California burger, with guac and bacon was good. It was pretty big too, she couldn't finish the whole thing. The veggie burger's patty that I had was just ok, nothing special, but the toppings were fresh and yummy (jalapenos of course!). The bun was unusual. It was large, lightly toasted, squarish in shape, and kind of sweet. I thought it went well with my veggie burger. Their onion rings are tasty and crisp, but their fries are even better! There is a kids menu, and the Corn Dog Bites are a favorite with mine. Plus the kids meal comes with a sno-cone.

Service was good. The staff came around to the table a couple times to take empty baskets and trays, which was nice. I liked the family atmosphere of Moonie's very much and I am sure we will be back regularly since it is just around the corner from us.

I'd give Moonie's 3 stars for the food (good, but not great) and add a star for friendly service.

We ate there for the first time today.  I got the bacon cheeseburger combo and my wife got the Western BBQ burger (or something like that.)

The fries were magnificent; soft on the inside, crispy on the outside.  This is the first time that my wife and I both enjoyed the fries somewhere.  The burger I got would have been so-so if not for the bun.  The patty was just a blah hamburger patty but the bun was really good and made up for it.  The drinks were much bigger than I'm used to getting (32 oz).

It looked like it was really kid/family friendly as well.  There were lots of big tables and a play area set aside for kids, and lots of smiling kids with snow cones.  I didn't get a chance to play with the toys but I'll assume they are adequate.

I really wish I could give 4.5 stars instead of 4; the only thing that Moonies falls short on is the hamburger patty.  I wish it was seasoned or had a little more taste to it.  Other than that, I'd recommend it to anyone.

Greatest Burger Joint in ALL of Austin.  I've been to Gabbi's (Still quite good) Willy O's (pretty lame) and many others, Moonies is the best HANDS DOWN.

The bun is so great tasting and coated in, as my friend says, Goodness!  The sweet potato fries are the greatest thing in the world and the atmosphere is all Texas.

You gotta try it out.  We take all our friends there.

Moonie's is a great burger joint that is building! Their Buffalo Burger (that's buffalo hot sauce, not buffalo meat) is terrific! Also, the fries rule.

The place is generally a bit sparse, but the prices are cheap and the food is great. Gotta try it!

This place is pretty good. I like their burgers and fries. The bun is sweet and tasty and the burgers are pretty juicy. They have a good bottled beer selection. My grandmother LOVES the place, and I pick her up some Moonies almost once a week. I only wish they had milkshakes.

Really good burgers and a lot of choices. Sweet potato fries are yummy. A bit expensive but still good. Only bad thing is the live "music". WAY too loud for the space.

This is a straight forward buger joint and does not try to be anything else. Generally, I like that - pick something and do it well. And Moonie's makes excellent burgers: good bun, freshly grilled, a lot of fresh toppings, good fries, and of course cold beer to wash it all down. It's inexpensive, family friendly, and parking and seating is never a problem.

My friends and I ate at Moonies again. I am pleased to say that they still have the best hamburger around. The fries are super also. I ordered a hamburger that had guacamole, bacon, lettuce and tomato. The guacamole was very fresh (tasted homemade), the bacon was crispy with a smokey flavor and the veggies were all fresh. The hamburger had very good flavor and you could see all of the seasoning on the meat. The bun was very good also. I also had a side of their crispy fries which I have to agree with others are EXCELLENT. I was there for at least 30-40 minutes and my fries were crispy the entire time. Not like others that go limp after 4-5 minutes. I had a burger, fries and large soda for $7 which is very reasonable. I love a place that is consistent and serves great food and Moonies does just that.

When we first moved here from California I was hoping to find a good burger joint that would be comparable to In-N-Out.  On a Saturday evening we noticed a long line in our neighborhood just outside a burger joint called Moonies off HWY 183 in Cedar Park.  We drove past it several times in the following weeks and still noticed a long line.  Of course curiosity took over and decided to pop in for a lunch.  Mind you, we had tried one of Austins finest burger places at the Hills Cafe in south Austin the week before so we had some doubts if this place would compare.  Ordering was simple, with a menu similar to Fuddruckers.  The aroma was definitely mouth watering with the sound of sizziling ground beef in the open kitchen.  The order came up and we sat at our table ready to feast on two deluxe burgers and an order of onion rings and sweet potato fries accompanied by ice cold sweet Texas tea.  At first bite I noticed the bun was sweet, and I thought could this be the In-Thing around these parts.  I've only had sweet buns at one other place and that was the Hills.  Did these guys try to copy the famous Hills burger.  Not really, Moonies is much better in taste.  To top it off the onion rings, and those crispy tasty strips of sweet potato goodness was to die for.  I actually can't remember what In-N-Out burger tastes like anymore, and I've had hundreds of them.

They serve beer and a number of other goodies we've yet to try, just keep in mind that the line can get long, and arrive at an off time like 11AM, because after 12 it's always packed until closing.

Does not compare to In-N-Out Burgers in California, especially the price.  Wish their onion rings were hand made and would offer fried zucchini.

Greatest burger in Austin I don't think so, actually I thought Oleander in Leander had a much better burger and bun than Moonies.  The burgers are not bad but they are not special either. A year ago their service was better.

I would not say this is the best burger in Austin but they are pretty good. We have been visiting since they opened. The service was much better when they opened and the owners were always there. Now unfortunately it seems if you go on a night where the oldest person working is 18 the food is not as good and the restaurant is not as clean as it should be. The burgers are huge but so is the price. I would give them 4 stars but I agree the quality and service is slipping.

Okay, I know most of the other reviews would not support my opinion that the burgers are gross, but it's true.  For the life of me, I can not figure out why most people think these burgers are good.  My husband and I, based on all the good reviews, tried Moonies for the third time the other night. And our opinion was the same as it was the last time we ate there several months ago.  THE BURGERS ARE GROSS.  I think what people are responding to are the Hawaiian-roll-style, sweet burger buns.  I've never developed this love of overpoweringly sugary things myself, but it appears to be a Southern thing.  Think Krispy Kreme and Dr. Pepper!  Anyway, back to the burgers.  There's the super sugary roll, first off.  This is a problem, since you can't really taste anything else.  Some people describe these burgers as juicy.  But as one other reviewer pointed out, they're not, they're dry.  Note:  Juicy is not the same as GREASY.  And trust me, these burgers are downright greasy.  They drip grease everywhere.  You'll feel like you need a bath after eating one.  The meat is dry and tasteless.  Any Moonies lover reading this, I urge you to try something during your next visit.  Take a piece of the patty and put it in your mouth with nothing else on it.  You'll see what I'm talking about.  Flavorless, dry, boring. The french fries, while good, are nothing out of the ordinary.  They are your standard, frozen, crispy coated fry. In my opinion, all the good reviews boil down to one thing, love of the bun, not the actual burger.
