YUMMY!!!
My first impression when I walked in was that it was just another Cold-Stones ice cream joint that mixes ice cream and toppings together.
I just got a single scoop of Stratciacella and coffee mixed (no toppings), and it was excellent! The thing that stuck out the most about this ice cream was the creaminess and smooth texture. I think the only ice cream that's like this is Dewar's ice cream parlor in Bakersfield, CA. Great stuff!!!
I don't know why this place is not getting better reviews. A bit pricey for a single scoop of ice cream (about $5), but worth it at least once.
So-so. One scoop of ice cream for 4.95$. Kinda expensive to me. They have a lot of flavors. But nothing stands out. I got one scoop of strawberry ice cream in a cup with waffle chips because they ran out of waffle cones at 2PM. Seriously, what kind of decent ice creamery runs out of waffle cones at 2PM or at any hour of the day.

Okay. Granted, it was like 90 degrees outside, but what gives? Why was there such a long line for such a mediocre place?
Maybe there isn't any other ice cream parlor on Coronado. But there's an Albertson's, where you can pretty much get the same thing. The coffee ice cream was their best flavor, and even then I wouldn't wait 2 minutes for it. And $5 for a tiny scoop with no mix-in! Holyyyyyy shizzle. No thanks. Rape my wallet why don't you.
Ici in Berkeley, Bi-Rite in SF, and Creole Creamery in NOLA have destroyed my ice cream palette and expectations. They are the only way I'll pay an arm and a leg and a long wait for ice cream.

After writing my review of Yogurt Escape, I realized I've never reviewed Mootime! I've definitely been here at least once, if not more times than that (years ago). Anyway, they have yummy ice cream & toppings. I remember when we went the line was HUGE & it did take awhile to get our ice cream. Really the best thing about this place, though, is eating the ice cream on the patio at the Hotel Del overlooking the beach. That's what really drew me to Mootime. The price is high, but this is nice as an occasional treat. Definitely worth having ONCE, if for nothing else to enjoy the view & hanging out at the Del.

I didn't get anything exotic here, just strawberry ice cream with a waffle cone. YUM. I don't think there's an ice cream parlor in the world that could mess that up.
In all honesty, there is nothing with this place really, but it is pretty crowded, there's no where to sit outside (there are some places but on the weekend the place is bustling with folks everywhere, and most of the seating is for the people who are eating at the restaurant next door). But what is really nice about this location is that there is a lot to see, you can walk down to the beach with your ice cream and there is plenty of space to enjoy it over there.
I don't really think this place offers more or less than coldstone creamery, marble slab creamery, etc. = 4 stars worthy.

Came in tonite with my kids and husband -- it's 6:30 on a hot Saturday night -- no lines... no service either. The "staff" was a bunch of giggling teens, all whispering and laughing.... it took forever to get our order. My son asked for hot fudge on his ice cream... we watched the server screw around for awhile trying to scoop some chocolate goo into the cup -- finally we asked what was up and he said "i think we're all out of fudge -- sorry." Out of fudge early on a hot Saturday night. Huh. The frozen yogurt came out of the ice cream case - not a frozen yogurt machine, and it was chalky tasting and weird - nasty actually. We didn't finish it.
Overall a terrible ice cream experience -- how often does that happen?

I want to thank Moo Time for introducing me to a new favorite flavor: Dutch Cream.
I mean, I know I ADORE Euro milk, why wouldn't I love Euro themed ice cream? I know!!!
That plus some coffee ice cream on top of two brownies makes a personalized James Brownie.
Remember to order take away and enjoy your ice cream confection on the beach.
They're smoothies weren't that great and they were rude
Moo Time has 44 different flavors of ice cream, 9 sorbet flavors, 8 yogurts flavors, 2 sherbet flavors, and 3 seasonal flavors(Pumpkin, Peppermint Stick, Egg Nog for fall and winter) You can find all your traditional flavors here, as well as special creations like the Amaretto, Chai Tea, Ginger, Champagne etc.
You can create your own ice cream, by first select the base(Ice cream, yogurt, sorbet or sherbert ) then your favorite mixers(Candy, nuts, cookies, fresh fruit etc.) They will Smoosh, Smash, Squish, Squash, Crush and Crunch your ingredients on the frozen granite counter tops. Top it off with a fresh hand rolled waffle cone, waffle cup, bowl or indulge in a chocolate dipped cone, it's heavenly!
The line can get long, especially during summer time, but it's worth the wait.

So this place is a little over-rated. Maybe people rave about it because it's in Coronado...I don't know? In my humble opinion, it is okay. The serving size of the ice cream is huge...but the price is a little up there for ice cream. I mean you could probablly find a cheaper, less-known place with just as good or even better ice cream. The waffle cones are good though.
The cow and the elvis are classics and make it a fun place to go.
For most people in SD, Coronado is kind of out of the way. But if you get a chance to visit this area, definitely try Moo Time. I prefer this place over Cold Stone. I usually just get my favorite flavors, stracciatella and sweet cream. They are the best! They used to have 2 other locations, but they're both closed now.

this is one of the places where you should have it if you haven't had any then its up to you if you decide to really come back for more
i think its a one time experience thing...my first time having it was enough...
people get excited when places like these put on a little show and mix a little candy into their ice cream..
Moo Time is Coldstone-style with lots of flavors of ice cream with a huge choice of mix-ins along with a standard menu of sundaes, shakes, etc. i had the peanut butter ice cream with banana mixed in. YUM! the only downside is that it can get really crowded and they aren't super efficient at getting people through at these times. still, I'm willing to overlook that in exchange for tasty ice cream.
