Montilio's did a wonderful job with our wedding cake! They were able to perfectly match the photo I brought in, plus it was delicious. The tasting was a lot of fun and all the flavors were yummy.

This place is absolutely incredible!!! I had an image of an exact cake I wanted for my wedding and they did it. It was amazing! Better than I could have ever imagined!
My cake was absolutely delicious! I choose two different flavors. Chocolate with a chocolate mouse frosting and switched layers with a vanilla and a raspberry filling! The entire cake was red and white and had hearts...I've attached photos! Both cake flavors were moist and delicious. 3 years later I still have people asking me where did I get that gorgeous cake.
The entire staff here is also amazing. From my first initial meeting/tasting. Right down to my cake being delivered. They were incredible. I don't know why anyone would pick Kondeiter Meister cakes over Montilio's for a wedding...NO WAY! The taste alone is a 1000% time better.
Luckily..I still get to go and have cupcakes every now and then. It reminds me how delicious this place is!! -

We got our wedding cake at Montilio's in 2007. The reception venue included the cake as part of our overall pricing, so we had incentive to go with Montilio's rather than exploring alternatives.
We were able to taste a large variety of cakes before selecting ours. After we chose our flavors, my husband confessed he wasn't a huge fan of what we had picked (almond cake with raspberry filling), so I was able to call and request a different flavor for the top tier only. They were very accommodating about this. We selected to have our cake made exactly like one of the display cakes only in our wedding colors. To have fondant or fancier decorations would have been an additional cost, but honestly, the display cake was very pretty and we were happy with how ours looked. They had us flip through magazines to show them what colors we wanted--I thought this was a really creative way to capture the right colors, rather than asking for verbal descriptions like "green." The colors ended up being great and almost exactly what I had in mind.
The cake was at the reception venue set up on a table when we arrived after the ceremony, and it tasted great. No complaints about quality or service. The top tier was also correctly made in the alternate flavors we picked.
My only two misgivings about Montilio's are:
1. As one other reviewer mentioned, the colored icing was intense. This is probably my fault since I picked a pretty bright pink for the frosting roses, but I cringe thinking of how much dye I probably ate. The icing actually stained my kitchen sponge when I cleaned a knife used to slice the cake.
2. We ate our top tier the week following the wedding, because the Montilio's staff told us we would be able to order a replica of the top tier for our first anniversary at a minimal cost (I think $20). I told them we lived out of state and they assured me they could ship to us. This seemed a bit odd--how do you keep a cake intact during shipping?--but they insisted. Come our first anniversary, I called to order the cake tier, and they told me I had to come to one of their physical locations in MA to pick it up. This was simply not possible as I was living hundreds of miles away. We probably would not have frozen the cake tier if we'd known, but I was disappointed after having thought for a year that we could celebrate our anniversary with our wedding cake. I'm particularly disappointed that the person we were working with insisted they could get the cake to us even after I pointed out more than once that we lived out of state. -

Better late than never (my review, not your service).
SO... a coworker of mine was celebrating her birthday and we got her a cake from Montilio's and was going to have it delivered to our company party.
We were having a party at the World Trade Center so we schedule to have our cake delivered there. We were told that it would be there at 11:30. Perfect! Nearly four hours later and many phone calls to Montilio's our cake finally arrived, well after we had eaten and people had already begun to leave.
I have never in my life had so much frustration trying to get some sort of explanation why service was way below par. George, the manager promised that the driver was "on his way" when he was only an hour late. I must have made somewhere close to a dozen calls after that. trying to figure out why my cake hadn't been delivered yet, only to be told each time that "the driver was on the way" and that "this normal doesn't happen". I asked if the driver had been contacted but they told me that they had talked to him and that he was going to be there soon.
By the third hour George wouldn't even care to get on the phone with me and apologize for the late delivery and poor service. Not only that but when the driver did finally arrive, he laughed about being SO late and said that he was in traffic. Now this was no after noon, rush hour time frame... we're talking about the mid day when everyone is in work and you're only coming from 45 minutes away WITH traffic. I could have went to another friggin' state and back for a cake in the time that it took you to get there... don't laugh at me budddy.
The cake was decent, nothing special... and overpriced if you ask me. We received no further explanation or ANY type of apology on behalf of the driver, or Montilio's as a whole. I wouldn't recommend them. I couldn't... I would feel down right awful if they provided someone I knew with the service that we received. -

They made the cake and a platter of assorted pastries for my niece's baptism. The highest compliment I can give them is that their frosting was good (usually the frosting on store-bought cakes is a crime against humanity, imho). The stuff in the display cases looked both delicious and beautiful.
Their one problem is a complete lack of parking (save one handicapped space), so be prepared to park illegally and run in (or park in the commuter rail lot next door). -

The cakes and pastires are pricey, but close to home-made when I don't feel like baking. But you'd better know where the place is because their location is almost confidential

The worse customer service I have encountered. I ordered a cake for my birthday, the cake looked as though a very inexperience cake decorator was practicing on my cake. I let the owners know that I wasn't happy, they both were very unprofessional and disrespectful. They lack customer service and simple people skills. They were very adamant about their quality that was obviously an issue for me. They attempted to treat me as though I was incompetent and knew nothing about what a cake is supposed to look like because I am an African American young man. I would never recommend them for their lack of customer service.

Montilio's cake and selection is unbeatable, in my opinion. They are supplying my wedding cake, and during the consultation they were extremely friendly, had plenty of samples, and were more than willing to discuss the thoughts we already had for the cake. We found them to be very flexible and helpful. You can view the list of flavors they have available on their site, and between the long list of cake flavors, filling flavors, and frostings, there are hundreds of combinations. The cake is unusually moist and flavorful, and nothing like the spongy white cardboard cake you often get at weddings.

I'm not so sure what all the rave is about this place. I went here for a cake tasting session for my wedding and have to say the service and cake was pretty horrible. It started out like all other places we've been too. We were greeted by the person behind the counter and asked to take a seat and someone will be right with us. Well, about 20 mins of waiting and sitting at the table was had smudges and icing on the picture albums (all of the tables were like that). George appears but holding and talking on his cell phone as he was walking to us. Then stood at our table for couple of mins and just left off to go upstairs (still oh the phone!). We waited another 5 or 10mins and he finally came back with a pen and paper and did his introduction.
I gave him sample picture of what I was looking for in a cake and he just started copying the picture onto the paper. I requested that the design come fresh from the decorator and that it should not look like the picture. So he stopped and brought out the cake for us to try. While sampling the cake, he went back and continue to copy the picture of the cake. He did take notes of what I was looking for but I was disappointed to see him to that when I specifically said I do not want it to be copied.
The cake was nothing special to me. There was one that I gag on cause it was just so funky. I didn't bother to ask what it was, I just knew its NO. Then there was one that tasted like a supermarket made cake...but I have to admit, the ricotta filing/icing was good.
Right when we finish trying the last flavor he started to wrap things up and gave us his business card, a copy of his drawing and notes. I felt so rush and then he said oh I need to be somewhere soon. There was no offering of wrapping up the cake and no have a great day.
I would not recommend this place to anyone. I later found out from my co-worker that the place has gone downhill a long time ago. -

We went here for my wedding cake, because we were told the cake and frostings are delicious and not too sweet. We picked out a design and changed it a few times before we left. The cake and frosting were both fresh and delicious. My only complaint were the pale pink roses were almost a bright flourescent color which I did not like . I never complained because the price was very reasonable and the cake and frosting tasted so good. Everyone loved it!

We used Montilio's for our wedding cake and absolutely loved it! It was decorated beautifully and tasted wonderful. I changed my cake about 5 different times and they were very accommodating towards us. We received many compliments on it. Will definitely be using them more often in the future. Keep up the good work!
