One of the Business' Favorite Reviews What's This?
My absolute favorite place to eat! Every month has a different themed special from another country. Check the website for the current month special Boyfriend always orders the shrimp martini, happy hour fries is MORE than enough for happy hour which cimes with ranch, catsup, and wasabi dipping sauce (and it is GOOD). The wild mushroom ravioli pairs perfectly with roasted pine nuts in light olive oil. the salads are so delicious! i'm never dissapointed whenever i come to monteaux's public house.
This is my neighborhood hangout and they work hard at being just that. OK-ok it's a fairly new spot in a strip mall, opposite Freddys, not is some cool old victorian house in some neat offbeat part of town-it's unincorporated Washington County (and thats not the same as Beaverton-please).
Monteaux's is where I take visiting friends for something quick for dinner, on our way someplace else. It's where I go for lunch by myself if I feel like eating out. I like to have dinner there occasionally and even drop by for a drink.
Each month they feature a part of the country or other nationality traditional food but they also have wonderful fish and chips with cold good beer.
In the summer there have been tables outside, but the view of the parking lot isn't much fun.
The food is always excellent. I'm a small eater so I always have some to take home. I just wish they would offer lighter fare or smaller portions for some of we dainty eaters...but take homes for lunch are good also.
Ambience is very nice. No blaring TV in the bar area and occasionally they offer live music.
All in all, if you're in the Nike area, give this joint a try-it's well worth you're time and much better than the McD's next door.
They make really tasty burgers; I really enjoy them. The clam chowder is pretty alright, as well. I wanted to try the hotwings there last time, but they were out! I was bummed.
The happy hour is fabulous, though. I'm there for it quite often these days, since it's the closest place to where I live. They kind of have odd hours, though.
I didn't really know what to expect as I pulled up to this restaurant. Went there with a decent sized group around 7PM on a Saturday night and it was absolutely dead. So, that made us wonder just a bit.
The atmosphere was pretty good. Low key, but nice and relaxing. The menu had your traditional staples on the dinner menu as well as some stuff I didn't know how to pronounce. My family had nothing but good things to say about their entrees. I stuck to the burger and was very satisfied. It was a decent-sized burger with an over sized bun. Not the greatest, but much better than a place like Red Robin.
I'd for sure go back, but probably wouldn't choose over some of my other dinner favorites. Definitely a good experience and worth trying if you are looking for a new place to get your grub on.
My visit to the Monteaux's Public House was on Wednesday, 6/17 at around 4pm. My friend and I heard good things about their happy hour, so we decided to check it out!
First, our server was a friendly, yet not too "over the top" and/or "nonchalant" - she was perfect! The great thing about the Happy Hour here is you can enjoy it 3-6 PM and 9 -11PM (closing time)! The Happy Hour drink specials are $3 Well Drinks/House Wine/Pints and Half-Off "Cravings" (Appetizers- great selection too!). Also, another neat thing about their Happy Hour is the entire menu (including DESSERT!) is 20% off. Very cool.
My friend ordered a sampler of their "rotating" brews... he was very happy, and for only $4, how could he complain...almost a pint of beer!
We ordered the Insalata Caprese and the Chicken Nachos. VERY pleased with both selections. But, my favorite part was the dessert. We ordered the Brownie Sundae - but let me tell you people, this was the best brownie sundae I've ever had. First, the brownie was GIGANTIC and had chocolate chips (big plus in my book), then, on top of the brownie was a thick serving of vanilla ice-cream, along with hot fudge, chocolate syrup, and whipped cream. All with a cherry-on-top! It was definitely enjoyable, almost too big for only 2 people, but we managed *wink*
I recommend trying this restaurant, even for just the atmosphere (neat painting of the walls, etc.), the comfortable booth seating, and the friendly staff.
Ate here this past weekend. Food seemed to taste pretty good, but I had a stuffy nose so I couldn't taste all that well. We will definitely have to go back and try it again. We got there around 7pm and there was already a wait to get in. I don't remember what I ordered, but my wife ordered the Gnocchi (I think) and it was pretty damn good. Also if you order the Nachos, it's a pretty big plate so you can full just off the appetizer. I am taking off a star because my wife ordered one of their drinks and they didn't have all of the ingredients for it. Then she ordered a Long Island Ice Tea, and she said it was the weakest one she's ever had. Definitely worth a repeat visit though.
totally unimpressed with this "applebees look alike." the food was bland-ola, overpriced, and unimaginative! Had heard it was great - water glass was dirty and waitress denied it - reluctantly bringing us a new glass. don't bother with this run-of-the-mill everywhere-USA place.
Okay, I've been back several times since, and I am ashamed I took a star off. This place is amazing.
I have literally tried something different every time I've been here (6 times!!) since my initial review, and it's been great every time. The staff here is great, and even though it was terribly crowded the first time I went, it hasn't been that bad since.
Oh, the best part? They give 25% off everything on their menu during Happy Hour AND after 9pm. Woot!

Have you ever wanted to make love to all of the food on a restaurant's menu? Yea, uh, me neither.… Read more »
Not sure where to eat? Looking for variety? Great service? Comfortable environment? Good beer? Live on the west side? Monteaux's is an easy choice. We probably go here 3-4 times a year when we can't figure out what to eat. Always tasty and their rotating themed menu is refreshing and fun.
I'd say 3.5 stars if I could. No complaints from me at all. I'm stingy with my 4 stars so don't think 3 is bad.
We were excited when we saw the reviews of this place and weren't disappointed. This cozy little pub has great service and delicious food. My favorite item we tried was the pyrogies (so good!). We are definitely adding this place into the rotation.
I hate giving mediocre reviews to independent restaurants in the suburbs. I mean, we need to be grateful you're here, right? Save us from the onslaught of chains and fast food joints, yeah? But if I told you the food here was fantastic, I'd be lying. And then you wouldn't trust my reviews anymore. So here I go, the truth hurts sometimes.
I generally like this place for decent drinks, great beers, and a menu that seems inventive on paper. Yet it's in the execution where Monteaux fails to impress.
We had three dishes, two of which sounded really unique. They weren't terrible, but they weren't really terrific either. The shrimp curry had plenty of shrimp but left us wondering if there was any curry in it. And my pork was thinly sliced, a bit chewy, and I had to drown it in salt & pepper to bring out any flavor. Even the kid's cheeseburger was rather ho-hum. And for the prices we honestly expected a bit more.
Will I go here again? Absolutely! I'm hoping this was an off night. Or maybe they'll read this and step it up a little. Cuz I'd really love to love this place.
These folks make one of the best blue-cheese burgers - and they'll cook them true medium rare also - unlike Mcmenamin's Hockey pucks. I prefer to sub the fries for a small specialty salad - which is pretty darn good as well.

Are you looking for a place to celebrate a win?
A place that is not smoky? A quaint and relaxed place that is not tantamount on being a sports bar?
A place that's just enough to handle your team's victory or defeat. Heck celebrate in any fashion and reason.
Well then this is the place for you. It can be good for groups less than 12. Anything more than that, you may find yourself in the curb.
The place is so subdued you may overlook at this restaurant. Another drawback is they close early but that is understandable as all the establishments in that quiet block closes early (except Mc D and Popeye's).
Sorry but it's three and this is as good as it get.
Foodwise: Salads are good.
Food was very good. I had a burger with a cup of the house made clam chowder. Very tender meat and the chowder was worth upgrading to a bowl. Also had the waffle fries a friend ordered which were delicious. Waiter was slow on refilling my water which is a pet peave for me. Quite pricey for Beaverton. Now In the list of top 5 places I have dined in Beaverton.
Note to owners: I agree with the others on here about the early closing hours. There are few places that offer a quality bar and atmosphere in the Beaverton area past 10 PM. If you extended hours I'm sure word would spread and make this into a Henry's style late night pub which would be welcome in the Beav.
We have plenty of young professionals that would support it. We would rather come here over Malone's, Applebees, and Old Chicago for late night atmosphere when we don't feel like heading to downtown Portland.
This was a pretty nice place to eat. We got there about 7 minutes before 6 and were seated quickly. The waitress came right up and alerted us to the fact that happy hour was only for a few more minutes, so she'd come back in 2 minutes and see if we needed drinks/appetizers before happy hour was over. Very cool. The wait staff were all very nice, attentive and helpful.
They have a passable selection of beers on tap and a pretty neat menu. Lots of burgers/sandwiches if you're in to that. Also, each month, they feature a different country's cuisine (yesterday was last day of Trinidad), with a few selections in appetizer, entree, dessert and drinks. I had the shrimp curry b/c I knew it wouldn't be there next time. It was spicy and good.
Happy hour is a good deal here: 3pm-6pm and after 9pm every day. Happy hour = 25% off any menu item, so order whatever!
We'll definitely come back some time to try the desserts. We were too full last night to order any, even though it all sounded great.
Consistently good food. Nothing completely out of this world but I can always find something to satisfy on the menu. The mojo cobb is a personal favorite, and their burgers are killer (minus the black bean burger which is in reality an onion burger which uses black beans to hold it together - no thanks.)
My parents live in Hillsboro and probably eat here more than they eat at home. I guess if you're going to frequent the same place that much, this is the place to do it in the suburbs.
Ho hum.
Since Beaverton is full of chain restaurants, I am always more than happy to try somewhere that isn't. Several co-workers had recommended this place so one day my husband & I made a trip there for lunch. It had been a few years since I'd had a monte cristo sandwich so I was excited when I saw one on their menu and had to order it. Every other time I've eaten one of these sandwiches, it has been entirely battered and fried. (Fattening yes, but delicious!) This is not how their version is served. If I would have known that, I would have ordered something else but since their menu description was vague so I just assumed it was a classic monte cristo. It was served on bread that resembled thin French toast and the meat was really dry. I made myself eat half of it before calling it quits. My husband ordered the BBQ burger and thought it was decent. I wish I would have gotten french fries instead of the fruit cup because they were really good! I'm not normally a fan a french fries, but I thought theirs were pretty exceptional.
Since I was still pretty hungry from not eating my sandwich, we decided to order dessert. I had the creme brulee and my husband ordered the chocolate mousse. The creme brulee was ok but nothing special. It tasted kind of like vanilla pudding. The mousse was made with Amaretto and it was completely overpowering! It was really all you could taste. My husband is not one to miss out on dessert but quit eating it after a bite or two because it was so bad and shared my dessert instead.
The ambiance is nice enough, but the food was quite a let-down, save for the fries. We probably would have been better off going to a chain restaurant.
Monteaux's is the ONE reason I miss living in Beaverton. I went here so often when I lived in Beaverville that I knew the menu front to back. The around-the-world specials are worth trying. The wait can be long, and sometimes the excellent staff can forget you. Great place to try, and I highly recommend. In fact, I am still on their email list, just for sentimental reasons.
Always a good choice for lunch or dinner- enough choices on the menu for anyone's tastes. The "Monteaux Cristo" is great- it's hard to find a Monte Cristo sandwich anymore, and this one's done right. I always enjoy the fries here as well- crisp with a bit of snap, no soggy greasy nastiness.
The interior's very well done for a strip mall location (though the vestibule entry is painful when it's windy)- the high overhead windows make for unique lighting during the day.
Monteaux's is a great place for afterwork drink and eats.
We often grab a booth, nice and dark after sitting in an office all day under the too white light.
For 4 bucks, you can get some great dishes to pair with the dark beer we love. The calamari is fantastic, perfectly fried to dark brown with lots of breading served with a delicious dipping sauce. The hummus plate is also a great choice.
All around, probably not the best for dinner, but we love it for a long cool down from a hectic and stressful day in the office.
Overall a nice place, nothing really stood out as wonderful but nothing was bad either. This would be a place that I would have 3.5 stars but it is not at a four. You should also know this is not a late night drinking place as they close at 10pm every night but Friday (11pm) and they are closed Sundays.
Ok so a friend and I split 2 sandwiches, a cheeseburger and a chicken pesto sandwich. Both were ok but I would definatly try different things next time. What was delicious was the new england clam chowder, It had a decadent buttery flavor and while I ordered it thinking it might have been a little healthier than fries I am not so sure now, but I am happy I did.
We did get there happy hour special which I believe is 25% off the regular menu price.
Oh Fat Tire on tap too!
Their olallie salad was pretty decent. A large hazelnut crusted chicken breast nestled in garden greens with sliced strawberries, mandarin oranges, crumble of blue cheese and raspberry vinaigrette. The sweetness mellowed the blue cheese, which can overwhelm my palate. I enjoyed it and could see myself ordering it again. The restaurant is oddly shaped like a large J inside complete with full bar, and amusing wall mural. My husband had a black and blue burger (which comes with blue cheese and bacon for toppings) and a side of fries. Nice place to grab lunch. Trying to be on the fancier side, which is a little odd for a strip mall but overall, tasty.
Located in a strip mall across the way from one of my favorite Fred Meyer's. The food is ok but my biggest complaint is that it closes way too early. 10pm. Well except for fridays. Just fridays it's open until 11pm. Applebee's is open later and they have a bar too. Just sayin...
So myself and three other friends decided to take a stroll down the road and hit up Monteaux's for an easy happy hour run.
We had no issues getting a seat at 8:30pm since there was practically no one there (granted it was Saturday night and there isn't much else in the area to offer people.) We all ordered different items so we could feast off of everyone else's plates. The time to get our food wasn't that long, long enough for us to polish off two tap drinks in record time, it was happy hour get as much as you can in as little time as you can right?
Fish 'n Chips, great but then again it's hard to mess up that meal.
Calamari- two plates were needed, beyond excellent.
I have no idea what Etouffee was ordered but it too was good.
The food was pretty good, needless to say, I was pretty thankful my friends didn't mind me snatching various items off of their plates.
Brew's on tap, I guess this is the part where I don't really care what's on tap- I'll drink just about anything. Though I was pretty happy to hear that I could order my drink at a more room temperature level than the typical frozen glass most usually order.
Pretty much just stopped by for a quick happy hour drink or five and had a great time, then we were kicked out. Horrible closing hours if you ask me, something like 10pm but the workers were pretty cool to let us stay a bit later to polish off our drinks.
Great food, great service, understanding waitress that we didn't want to leave half full glasses or beer go to waste a plus as well. No complaints really. A minor discretion though, the menu isn't the longest but it is pretty diverse to find something somewhere that you'll enjoy.
Next time I think I'll try their Sheppard's Pie.
Finally made it in here for lunch the other day, as I work very close. Very nice digs, and good layout. Our server was sweet and professional and did a good job. We pretty much all had a variation on a burger (except for one renegade) and it was all very tasty. The burgers were fantastic. A bit spendy, but they made up for it in quantity and quality. I'd very much like to try happy hour as well. They DO offer to go food which is a big deal in the evenings at our house. A good, NON CHAIN eating outpost in Beaverton!
Great menu, would be better if not in a strip mall and somewhere with a bit more character. I've had casual business lunches there without a hitch, and have taken the family there for great burgers. It's a bit pricey, but I have no complaints about food or service, I think anyone would be pleasantly surprised....
A group of us went to Montaux's for dinner on Friday night and we hadn't been there since the summer time. They had added a few items to their menu which was nice to see. Everything was very good and our server was fun and had a great sense of humor which made our experience even better. Their soup special was some vegetarian corn chowder and it was spicy & very tasty. They added waffle fries to the menu which my friends all got and they were crispy and very good as well. A friend of ours who is very picky loved the fish & chips which was a good sign!!! Everyone was happy and we'll go back soon again, especially since it's not too far from home, tasty food, and great service.
I've been to Monteaux's quite a few times over many years since I work just around the corner. I usually order the Caesar Chicken Wrap which is very tasty and comes with a side of fruit which is great. I've been there so many times for that great wrap and their fine on-tap beers (after work) that I really like the place. However, last week I decided to order something different and the Mojo Chicken Cobb salad looked pretty good. Well, it wasn't. How can you screw up a salad? The dressing. Why put a ranch dressing on a mexican salad? Well, maybe you would but I thought it was not well paired. Give me a salsa type dressing please. The salad was mostly lettuce too and had very few redeeming qualities. I'll go back to Pepita's for their Guacamole Chicken Salad when I want a mexican salad. And at $11.50 the Monteaux's salad was WAY overpriced. I was shocked at the price for a simple lunchtime salad. (My Ceasar chicken wrap with fruit is only $8.50.) I gave them a 4 since they have terminal gravity IPA and I really do like that wrap sandwich. Usually I have a great meal but I wish they could drop their lunch price a few dollars. The service is always good.
