Alright, the love fest continues. I too appreciate their extra hours of operation and you can't put a high enough price on good service.
I also gave them a rug, handwoven and pretty expensive, and they also quoted me a fair price (especially for the comfort of just leaving it and moving on with the rest of my day!) I stopped by on the appointed day, not really expecting it to be ready. Turns out it was on its way (and they were open after-hours while they waited....nice!) so they offered to bring it by when they got there!
*For full-yelp disclosure, the eventual cost of the of the rug was more than I was originally quoted, but the difference was less than 10% and I was discounted on other laundry they were cleaning for me. Plus, again they were pretty nice about it.
The rug was an antique, and smelled like it when I dropped it off. It was also pretty dark in color. After the cleaning, all the details came out and it looks like its worth. Also, the smell of 150 years of foot, is gone. I would sleep on it (and probably will!)
No one's perfect, and I've learned that with my dry cleaning experiences, But like others have said, service does matter. They also deliver to some of the lofts downtown, including NCT Lofts.
Monte Carlo is like a girl you bring home from the bar on the first night: It seems like a fantastic thing at first, but then after you realize it was a big mistake!
They lost one of my shirts and gave me someone else's. After a week and a half I finally got my shirt back (they had given it to someone else) but they were really bitchy during the process and never apologized once. Also, of the shirts they did clean: they way over-starched some (itchy, wrinkly, grossness), while completely failing to starch others. If that weren't bad enough, they outsource all their dry cleaning to another company, so they nor you have little control if you need to get an item back quicker than expected. Finally, they are very, very expensive.
You have been warned!
Okay, so this Dry Cleaners IS as good as it gets!
I lived in the Miracle Mile for 17 years, and my building was bought by a developer and I was paid to move out. I settled in a loft at The Chapman at 8th & Broadway. LOVE LOVE LOVE my new home!
Located in my building at street level is Monte Carlo Cleaners.
While moving in, I gave them two big projects.
1. 12 slip covers for my sectional couch. Not only did they need dry cleaning, a couple of the covers needed new zippers, which they were happy to replace.
2. I have a $1200 Australian wool area rug that needed dry cleaning due to cats that, when angry with me while I was house sitting for a friend, started peeing on the rug, and I didn't realize to what extent until the move.
They quoted me an upfront cost of $95 for the slip covers, and $150 for dry cleaning the area rug.
When I purchased the area rug from a friend, I had it dry cleaned in the Miracle Mile, and when I went to pick it up, it was $400!! I was in shock! And, having not stated a quote upfront, I was in shock!!!! I could buy a new rug for that cost. Hence, I asked for a quote.
I wasn't in any hurry, but was pleased with the $150 quote.
I kept checking in for the status, and they kept informing me that they had to send it back due to the cat smell. And, after 4 dry cleans, and eventually no more smell, they were happy to deliver my wool area rug ... as if it were new!!! After 4 cycles through the process, they stuck to their original $150 quote, and I was a happy customer.
But wait, it gets better! I had a pair of my favorite A&F shorts that needed new pockets. And, because they felt that I was patient and waited for them to get my area rug clean to their standards, they sewed in new pockets for free!!!!!
OK, listen, customer service doesn't get any better than that!!
Now that I've been in the building for 2 months, I've taken a few things here and there in for cleaning, and they're prompt, and they pick up and deliver. In addition, they are the friendliest, and most service oriented
group of owners that I know. We talk about pet problems, living in DT, and more! I love knowing that I can count on them.
So my latest experience ... I have 9 piece vintage set of Rattan that I want to sell. It's sitting in my storage locker collecting dust. Two sets of cushions, that are uphostered in vintage miami beach palm frond fabric (and the cushions too) needed to be cleaned because my cat marked it with her scent ... and I wanted them to be cleaned so I could sell the set on Craigslist ... I brought in the hand woven and wrapped spring cushions for cleaning. Not only were they prompt, and charged me practically at cost, the cushions looked like they did when I had them re- apholstered, that rather than selling the set, I wanted to keep it!!
They pick up and deliver, they are competitive and friendly, they are pet lovers, and they're Downtown!
If you live in a loft Downtown ... call them immediately and ask for quotes.
They are the best. And on Fridays, they do laundry for $1.00 a pound.
I want to buy at the Rohan, and when I do, I'll still call on them for my dry cleaning services!!
The only thing that I can say on the down side ... I miss Santiago!
He was friendly and my first contact when I was moving in the building!!
Call them for quotes, and pick up. They really are customer service oriented. Quality work, and friendly!!
LOVE them!
xoxoxo
I live in Downtown now, but I've lived in several other neighborhoods before (K-Town, Fox Hills, Hollywood, Media District) and have always struggled to find a good, reliable dry cleaner every time. I've had some successes, but mostly after a long hard search. When I caught word that Monte Carlo opened about a month ago, I figured why not, and after trying them out, I'm done looking. These guys are great.
I dropped off a few shirts, showing one with a stain. The guy who helped me out was extremely friendly and accommodating, and their lead time was excellent (48-hr turnaround for 4 shirts is pretty good). Upon picking them up a few days later, I brought the shirts home and noticed that the original stain had been nearly lifted, but sort of mutated in shape and showed much lighter in color but was still detectable. When I brought this to their attention early today, they immediately assured me that it would come out on the second go-round and insisted that I not pay for the second try, which I appreciated.
Their hours during the week really work for me (open until 8), because I tend not to get home until 6:45-7ish on a good day. And the guy who rang me up originally gave me a discount for being a first-time customer. They offer 25% off on dry cleaning on Sundays, and complimentary pick-up and delivery (within reason, of course). I personally don't mind dropping off and picking up clothes myself, but it's good to know. They also do fluff & fold service, which I would take certainly advantage of if I weren't so picky about my regular laundry. And I was also told that they will soon offer housekeeping services starting likely in late March or April.
All-around, an excellent service in an area that needed a stand-out dry cleaner. I look forward to being a customer for a long time. Top notch!
I needed to pick up my dry cleaning today urgently and nobody was there.
MONTE CARLO: Please put a sign up if you're going to be away. Let us know when you will be back. This was my first time with you and it created a negative impression.
