Review from Reney O.
I've been here a number of times with the bf for breakfast and find that that's probably what they do best. At breakfast the food is made to order and it's served hot and fresh by the cook himself. While I do hate waiting more than half hour for my food, which often happens here, I try to keep in mind that this guy's working alone. For breakfast, I don't think there's a wait staff.....who knows, maybe he hired somebody on since my last visit. In any case, though it'll be a wait for your food, it's still served to you hot and fresh.
As far as food detail, the breakfast burritos are the best I've ever tasted. Filling, savory, and hard not to just inhale the things because they're so good! Omelettes are pretty good there as well. Small menu selection, but they make their breakfast right! Their soups aren't so dreadful. To me it was forgettable, neither good enough nor bad enough to stick out in particular. -

This place has closed down! They only do catering now which is a huge bummer! I loved this place..they had great breakfast..I would give it 5 stars if they still opened for the public! But since they don't I will only give 3 stars fo the catering...hopefully they will reopen sometime!

"Spit your game, talk your shit, grab your gat, call your click."
This place gets an immediate additional star for bumpin' Notorious, Luniz, Outkast, and Bone Thugz on the Saturday morning I stopped by. If you are over 40 that could be an immediate one star deduction; I imagine the music is determined by the staffing, in this case a frizzy haired apathetic cigarette smoker.
Coffee is rich, but a litte confusing when it comes to self service. Use a house cup and save .25. Monroe has a little bit of everything including decks of cards and toy cars to entertain your little ones while you catch up with old friends.
Customers are bearded, staffing is earthy, pothos plants hang in the middle of the shop. Wrote this review on the free wireless. Don't know anything about the food, but the tall boys of Pabst were a good enough breakfast for the gentleman posted up at a table across the cafe at 11am. Yum, liquid toast.
Yet another reason why I heart Eugene.Listed in: It's mid-day, mid-winter, in…

I'll start with this: I have a deep love for the storefront that houses Monroe St Cafe. It's in a charming building that looks to have been a general store for most of its existence.
The food is counter service, fairly cheap, and delicious. It's mostly deli fare - sandwiches, pastries, burgers, and fried appetizers. There is also wine and beer by the bottle, beer on tap, and simple grocery staples - milk, cereal, juice, rice, and so on. The breakfast food and sandwich bread are both top notch, which makes for a pretty solid base for their menu.
The seating inside is small, perhaps room for 15 or so people. They also have a tiny secluded back patio that you've got to slide into between the edge of the cafe and their fence.
They also brew some of the most fantastic house coffee you'll ever taste, as long as it's hot. They've got some interesting events - beer and wine tastings, open mic night, board game night, and are doing a decent job keeping their charming little cafe busy.
You should be aware of the restrooms - they're both detached and around the back.. and are unheated, but generally clean.
Give the Monroe St. Cafe a try. It's got charm, and there's a lot of love being put into the business. -

Beer with breakfast is a lot like awesome. A small place with a good beer and wine selection and a ok breakfast to offer. But for some reason they sell household items there too. Like milk and candy. I don't normally finish breakfast beers and remember I need milk. But maybe it happens. Over all a worth a stop for beer selection, food ordering, or kitty litter.

The Mo'St has fun events every night of the week, especially the open mike on Wednesdays. I hear they have a great happy hour. They have a huge selection of wine and beer that you can carry out, also random sundries to grab and go.
The food is OK, I have a soft spot for vegetarian junk food so I like how they do a vegetarian chili dog with fries. I like their deviled eggs. They have great baked goods that you can find all over town. I really don't think the service is rude as another reviewer wrote, they're just understaffed. I'm pretty sure that there's only one person working at any time and they run the counter and do the cooking. -

This little deli has a happy hour that runs until 8 PM! It's a great place to sit down for a while in the evening. It looks like they'll also make some pretty nice food for you, so I'll be checking that out soon.

Horrible soup. Chicken sandwich was NOT a chicken sandwich, but rather a fried chicken strip on a stale piece of bread. Rude service. Would never go back.

I really want to love this place. I live a few blocks away, and want this to be my neighborhood hang out, but I can never quite figure out what it wants to be. Is it a convenience store? If so, it needs a big more than candy, wine, and $5/gallon milk with the odd bottle of rubbing alcohol and cat food mixed in. Is it a cafe? If so, it could use a better menu and a more welcoming storefront (i.e. a sandwich board out front with the daily specials advertised). Is it a bar/evening hangout? Then it needs to stay open past 10pm on a Friday, not hang curtains over the windows at night, and to have the same sandwich board out front advertise the open mic/band/evening activity. Rather, it feels more like an exclusive club. Every time I go in I feel like I'm interrupting a private party, the server seems angry to see us, and we leave with our tails between our legs with our beer or wine to go. So: better advertising, friendly (or at least not hostile) employees, and hours that reflect the business you want to run would help a ton.

BEST SANDWICHES IN TOWN! I lived right next door the this little place for a year and I was addicted! It's super cheap with REAL food and sandwiches. They make their soups, and there bread. It's small but the owners are really nice and they are a very open minded funky place! I love this place and Always still want to go there whenever I visit...I actually want A gouda club right now!
