This place is alright. Occasionally I've seen them charge a cover for some no-name, local band, which I think is absolute horsesh*t.
The clientele, is typical Burlington/Winooski wannabe Hippie/Poorly-Dressed-Hipster trash, often bobbing their heads to their roommate's weak-ass jam band. If you can stomach that scene without shoving a pool cue down someone's throat, you have true grit and you can kick back here.
I met my girlfriend at the monkey. The only people in the place were my roommate (who's boyfriend was in the band), the bartender, myself, and a lone woman at the bar (who's boyfriend was also in the band). Well, she's mine now Geoff!
This place is fun and funky. They have great beers on tap, a decent pool table, quality bartenders who also make GRILLED CHEESE, live music every night, and strange furniture that is way too low to the ground. I credit this place with the revitalization of Winooski.
