Review from Jen S.
Finally, an old-time business with no tourist crap and just good, homemade items and awesome produce run from a shop owned by a fantastic lady.
So in Oak Glen you get lots of tacky touristy shops where townies go to buy apples from the local orchards and racks of post cards and stupid tacky items. But this place is different.
All they sell are home-made goods, fresh apples, and other produce. No frills, just good, honest food.
The older lady who owns this place (Mom I am guessing) was super friendly. She recommended a delicious jam made form blueberries with no sugar (just fruit). She gave me a sample, and I loved it. It will taste great stirred into my oatmeal.
We also talked about how the area has changed, and I loved how she expressed her passion and loyalty to the small businesses around town, and to the mayor who prevented a stupid Walmart form being built here.
The apples are all fantastic, and you can get free samples. They also make their own nut butters, specialty breads, jams and preserves, and other items.
Next time I am in the area I will go back again for sure. -

Awesomely fresh apple juice. No petting zoos or animal exhibits here - just a family run apple shop/store. The family is great and makes you feel right at home. Having an antique wood-burning stove helped take the chill off while we were looking at the various goods. in addition to the obvious apple-related goods, they also sell some locally made items. My wife was lucky to find the last bar of handmade goats-milk soap. If you are driving through and want a nice quick diversion on the road trip to/from Palm Springs make it a point to stop by Mom's!

I haven't had apples this good since I had them fresh from our friend's farm in eastern Washington. So stinking good. The staff and owners are so kind, giving you tons of samples of everything. Mom will tell you all about the history of Oak Glen and can answer any question you could possibly have about apples. The apple cider is truly amazing as well. And the habanero mustard - wow. I'm going back this weekend to get apples for my Thanksgiving pie.

We had such a great experience here. After leaving the circus meets Black Friday atmosphere at the orchards down the street, it was awesome to come to Mom's where the staff was so friendly and knowledgeable. Everywhere you turned there was someone offering you pieces of fresh bread and fruit. We got cider pops (which were absolutely amazing and the highlight of the 90 degree day), the best pluots that I've had in a long time, and fresh sourdough bread. We will definitely be back.

I am so glad we stopped here, as it was the friendliest place we stopped in Oak Glen. We were helped by "Mom" herself, as well as her son. As we sampled the apples, I almost felt like I was at a wine tasting from the way the staff approached the flavors; whatever our taste was, they would recommend more apples in a similar vein. One of the things that sets Mom's apart is the fact that they have a full tasting counter for ALL of their jams, honeys, salsas, butters, etc. I tried some amazing honey here. They also had this ancient stove (looked more like an antique decoration, so I was surprised that it actually worked!) on which they heated up some of the hot cider. Delicious. The pink ladies and fujis here were especially good. Great place to stop both for apples and for gifts and groceries, with outstanding service.

Both times that I've visited Oak Glen I have stopped by here -- and both times, Mom's Country Orchards was the highlight of my trip! I love these guys.
The orchard shop is run by several family members, and they are all great people - very kind, outgoing, and enthusiastic and knowledgeable about their foods. We sampled various fruits first, and then went on to sample pretty much EVERYTHING that they made, one jar at a time.
The orchard is all organic and local, and they take real pride in their foods. I would love to list everything I LOVE here, but that's a huge undertaking. Instead, my favorites:
- Habañero Mustard
- Pumpkin Butter
- Blackberry Preserves
- Chai Jelly
- Spicy Peanut Butter
If you're visiting Oak Glen, this place is a MUST-VISIT :) -

This is just how you want it to be on a trip out to the country. Kind, wonderful people. Great selection- You can sample everything, Jam-jelly-perserves overload. Delicious hot apple cider warmed over the oldest wood burining stove you have ever seen. A "must do" on your way to the apple blossom festival.

My fave is the cashew butter and although to the naked eye it may seem pricey, believe me its the best stuff on earth! They have a varierty of fruit jellys and jams all delicious, if you dont know what to choose simply ask for a sample they will be happy to let you try them!! did i mention their cider rocks!!! and the people who run the place could not be nicer!

Friendly folks, spicy peanut butter(!), Chipotle Apple Raspberry sauce(!!) and of course apples. Never had a Spartan before but after they handed us a sample we grabbed up a bag. Nice!! Cross between a Macintosh and Pippin. Sure wish I could find them down here in a local shop. Otherwise I'll have to hoof it back up to Mom's.

I go apple picking with my friends every year and this is always where we buy our apples and other goodies. Mom and her son are some of the nicest people! They let you try all of the apples and salsas and butters and jams and they let me bring my two dogs in too. And of course they gave my pups a little treat too.

When I was here the staff made sure I had samples of several items out for sale. Everything was very good and options were plenty. It's just a normal market that you find in oak glen but the staff were very nice and they had a marvelous amount of options in terms of jams. I recommend it as a place to stop, but not as a destination. I bought 2 jars of jam that ended up being $15 even. Have fun!

My wife and I found out about Mom's Country Orchards from a Groupon promotion. We had been wanting to eat healthier, and add more fresh produce into our diet. After visiting Mom's Country Orchards, we are completely on the right track. Within about 2 seconds from walking into the store, we were immediately greeted with a sample of the latest pressing of apple cider. We spent about an hour in the store tasting apples and citrus, many varieties we had never heard of. Not only was everything delicious, but we were told the history of many of the varieties of fruit we were trying. It was a lot of fun. We then ventured to the back half of the store and sampled probably dozens of the many sauces, fruit butters, and jams... The most difficult thing for us was stopping ourselves from buying everything we tried. We decided that we could wait till next pay day to get some of the ones we passed on for now. Some of our favorites were the spicy peanut butter (which we will use on asian chicken), peach butter (use as a glaze on pork), and pumpkin butter, which sounds weird but tastes just like pumpkin pie filling. Also on sale at the store were several loaves of freshly baked bread that looked delicious. We will try those on a future visit. THANK YOU Mom's Country Orchards. You have changed the way my wife and I look at produce. Get used to seeing us. We will most definitely be repeat customers!

This is my favorite place up in Oak Glen. It's a small place but has unique selection of preserves and friendly service. I always get some pink lady apples and their famous F.R.O.G. Jam which is made of figs, raspberry, orange, and ginger. This is where I first tried some spicy peanut butter with an apple and was hooked. The spicy peanut butter also goes great with their FROG jam when making a PB&J sandwich. I need to go again soon for that FROG jam.
