I love their beers on tap! If you are hungry, go for the fish and chips. Normally I will share an order with my husband and it will be more then enough food. Also, they are kid friendly and welcome my baby in his stroller.

Oddly enough, in the 14 years we've lived in this area we've never visited this place before.  Most likely because before the restaurant smoking ban went into effect, every time we walked past, the place was enveloped in a blue haze of cigarette smoke - not very amenable to a nice dinner out.  However, yesterday we had some errands to run in Warrenton & had a hankering for fish & chips, so decided to give Molly's a try.

It was around 2-2:30 p.m., & the place was completely empty save for 2 gentlemen seated at the bar.  The décor is definitely "pub like", if a little bit ratty, to be honest.  Not unclean, just a bit in need of a sprucing.  Dark walls & dark wood floors, dart boards at one end, & a cacophony of photos & children's drawings tacked up on the walls.  In addition, both of our chairs & the table were rickety, & we had to be careful not to spill our beverages when not cutting food in tandem - lol!

That said - the food was delicious.  Husband just had water with a lemon wedge; I had iced tea ($1.95).  The glasses (plastic) were HUGE.  I mean HUGE.  First time I've not finished my iced tea.  Definitely value for your dollar.

We both ordered the "Fish & Chips" ($14.95), & were each presented with platters covered with perfectly cooked fries (crispy outside, tender & fluffy inside) topped with 2 HUGE perfectly bread-battered & fried cod filets.  No pre-prepared commercial frozen stuff here!   Small plastic cups of cole slaw & tartar sauce accompanied.  (My personal bugaboo - those little plastic cups.  Unless I'm dining at a takeout/fast food place, those plastic cups really irk me.)  Both the "chips"/fries & the fish were absolutely perfectly cooked - not a speck or taste of grease/oil in sight.  Not even on the fries that were underneath the fish!  And the cole slaw & tartar sauce were respectable as well.  In addition, kudos for having bottles of malt vinegar - the traditional fish & chips condiment - on the table.
Service was attentive & friendly without being intrusive.  All in all, a wonderful meal for a more than reasonable price.  We'll be back.

I've eaten here a time or two and had drinks there twice. The drinks are always good and at a good price. They have live music on a regular basis and stay open late on weekends for the bar scene. When I ate there, I had the burger and fries - it was great! That's the only thing I've had there, so I can't comment on anything else - but I'm sure their other dishes are delicious too.

We usually stop at Red Hot and Blue after hiking in Shenandoah but I thought it was time to venture into the downtown Warrenton.  As mentioned in other reviews the decor and odor resembles a dive bar, which would be fine except for the fact that I don't think it's a dive bar.  The food was bland and seemed expensive for what it was.  The AC must have been blasting because it was way too cold.   The server and wait time for food was fine.

In a town as small as Warrenton, it's surprising to find two Irish pubs within such close proximity  -- McMahon's and Molly's -- but there you have it.  Molly's is the better of the two for atmosphere, location, and for food.  Molly's is right on Main Street.  McMahon's is on the corner of 17 and 29.  Advantage: Molly's.  Molly's is small, cozy, and intimate.  McMahon's is huge and expansive (and inexplicably cold a lot!).  Advantage: Molly's.  Molly's serves really authentic, really *good* Irish fare like cottage pie, fish and chips, and bangers and mash, plus typical American selections like burgers and salads.  McMahon's attempts to serve typical Irish fare, plus American selections like fried everything.  Advantage: Molly's.

It's nice to go to Molly's after work with a group of coworkers to unwind, drink a beer or four, and have a bite.  We inhale their delectably sinful curry and chips -- which their menu charmingly describes as "spicy and delicious curry sauce served with a heap of chips."  Intensely tasty!  The fish is fresh, whole, and fried in crunchy cornmeal batter.  The salads are fresh, inventive, and delicious.  The sandwiches are fresh, big, and satisfying.  In short, the food here is damn good for a bar.

Plus the atmosphere is authentic Irish pub with its dark wood paneling and dim lighting, the service is friendly, and the atmosphere laid-back and relaxed.  And, since VA went smoke-free on December 1 last year, it is a LOT more pleasant to hang around!  The small size of the place made you feel like you were hotboxing ciggies with several dozen of your closest friends.  Yuck.  Also, some afternoons and evenings there is live music.  It's always a good time at Molly's!

I have been here on several occassions, from slow to busy times.  Good service each time.

For menu, standard Irish faire.  Fish and Chips are good, cheap ($11?) and plentiful.  Decent selection of beer.  * If you like spicey food, try the curry and chips.  Real good heat and kick.

Not a bad bar and crowd for waaaaaaaay the heck out in the burbs.

I don't know about the night life at Molly's, because my family and I ate there at lunch time yesterday.

I thought the food was excellent(between us we had the Bangers & Mash, the Chicken Fingers Kids Meal, a soup & salad combo, and the Fish & Chips) I love the the laid back feeling, and the fact that you can play UNO or Jenga, or a number of other games at your table. I thought it was very family-friendly for a pub...it was a happy accident finding this place!

Yes, people do smoke there after 3 p.m., but they have those smoke-filter machines up in the ceiling and my Mom(who is really sensitve to Cigarette smoke) wasn't bothered at all.

I had the Cottage Pie which is sort of like Shepherd's Pie. Served hotter than the surface of the sun, it was very tasty after it cooled off a bit.

I also had the Hot wings (was waiting for the live music), which are always good here. Didn't disappoint.

For desert the Irish cream bash is crazy-good. Perfect portion size. In spite all all I ate, I didn't feel like I was going to burst.

I went to Molly's for a private function the spring '07. They closed the business for the function and it was packed full of people.
The food was good and plentiful and the staff ok.
But the place is a dump. It smells like cigarettes and stale beer and is dark and dingy. Maybe it is dark to hid the dingness.....the floor was sticky from spilled stuff and it just would not be anywhere I would want to go, ever again.
Plus, parking for anything in Old Town Warrenton is a hike.

I'm new in town and decieded to try Mollly's as my second restaurant in town to check out/review.

The decor was ecclectic and the croud collective.  There were a range of people...singles at the bar, groups of people having dinner, and a single family with young children.

I only ordered an appetizer and a drink--and was suprised when I got the check how cheap the drink was...who can beat rum and coke at 2.73???

Anyway, on my adventure to Molly's which I took alone, I enjoyed my time there and will re-visit again.

We stopped by here on our way home from Shenandoah National Park.
Definitely loved the atmosphere and such, the place gets points for being a whole lot more of an "authentic Irish Pub" than lots of places in Philly for example...
Beer selection was definitely good and the menu looked good as well..
The potato and leaks soup was great... however, their version of Sheppard's pie was pretty bad...
It's a good place overall though...

I've eaten here sporadically for about 3 years, and while some newer venues have opened up, this is still my go-to place in Warrenton for a pint of Guiness and some pub grub.

You can find yourself with authentic bangers and mash, but I'm more of a fan of the pub club sandwich...piled high with ham, turkey, and bacon on your choice of bread.  The fish and chips are consistently thick cod pieces, succulent and flakey.  Either comes with a generous side of crispy and delicious fries.

Chances are the menu will have something to offer you, with a solid selection of not only beer, but your choice of alchohol of any variety.

The best thing about Molly's is that it's a very laid back atmosphere, and just like most successful pubs, has a variety of purposes at different times.  It's a filling, quick lunch venue, a great place for happy hour, and will provide live music and darts in the evenings.  It's a solid choice if you're in the neighborhood.

I've always been a fan of Molly's and it is my favorite pub/bar in Warrenton.  It seems to attract a different crowd than some of the other places in town which is definitely a GOOD thing.

They have live music at nights which is great but it can get a bit smoky in there and you will have to shower when you get home.  Their food is generally very good and their fish and chips are great.

In response to some other reviewers, yes they do have air conditioning but maybe it was broken that one night.  Also, a true Irish pub would never serve beer ice cold, as that isn't how real beer is supposed to be served.

I have been going here for years for the chicken wings and fish and sticks. Good selection of beers.

The wings have -always- been good and will come with an adequate amount of blue cheese. Fish and Chips...usually a good dish for under $12. Make sure to ask for the Cole slaw because they no long automatically come with the fish. The Banger's and Mash is fairly authentic.

Live music is after 9pm. I have observed families eating at the restaurant as of late.

I went in last Saturday, and the mixed-drink really did not have any booze. I was with someone that does not drink and they could barely taste any. After whining, it was a stiff drink.

Like many places servers are potluck.. I have walked in and waited while watching two young gals sitting down chatting. You usually have to flag your server down. But not always.

For parking, I recommend the lot behind the US Post Office that is a 3 min. walk.

    It's Warrenton...

I went here last May to see the Canadian Celtic group Searson perform.

I was by myself - after they seated me, I went to the restroom. Upon my return, they had moved me, farther away from the performance area - with some claim that they had already reserved that table for someone else.

I ordered the Caesar salad and the buffalo wings. Both were pretty good. While I was eating, my waiter came over and told me that his manager had asked him to approach me to see if they could move me again. When I asked "to where?" - they wanted to move farther away from the music - they would compensate me by buying me a couple of beers.

    I told them no thanks.

When Searson came out to perform, it was hard to see them from where I was sitting off to the side. More annoying was the block of tables up front that were reserved - the vast majority of the folks were sitting there yakking away throughout the performance and were not paying attention to the music. Why even bother to reserve a good table for a music performance if you are just going to talk throughout the evening?

The second time I visited Molly's - was this past September - again to see Searson perform. This time my dining and overall experience was much better. And there was no cover charge this time. I had the Grilled Salmon Ceasar Salad, an order of Buffalo Wings, and several pints of a red ale I've never tried before and darn if I can remember the name - but it was good!

There's two Irish pubs in Warrenton, not having been to either I selected the one I'd seen before.  Molly's is right in the old town area and is easily spotted by the Ireland flag.

The first thing i noticed when entering was an odor that wasn't exactly pleasant.  It either dissipated or I got used to it and 10 minutes after coming in I no longer noticed it.

Our group started with an order of onion rings, they were top notch, perfectly fried, crisp, not greasy.  The batter alone on the onion rings tempted me to go for their fish and chips.  I ended up settling on the bangers and mash.  Very ample and very good.  3 bangers served on a pile of mashed potatoes, with a hunk of irish brown bread, and whole grain mustard.  That paired with 2 cream stouts had me down for the count, with no hope of even glancing at the dessert menu.

Next time i'm just looking for some pub grub I know where I can find it.

A decent burger can be had at old Molly's, but the complaints my friends and I have are the same as when they opened - the music is soooo loud in the evenings that you have to scream to talk to the person next to you and the bartneders need to get over themselves - it is NOT a favor to get someone a beer when they are paying you and you work there.  Anyway, Molly's is loud and smoky, but one of your only choices for boozin in the big city, so it is worth checking out.

Went here with some friends for lunch. We all got burgers. We all agreed they were above average burgers and fries, but nothing too spectacular. The atmosphere is pretty cool, very... well... pub-like. Our waitress wasn't the best we've ever had. After we got our bill and gave her the money it took, I kid you not, 15 minutes for her to bring out change! Good thing we didn't have anywhere to be. And then when she did bring it back she gave me back an extra $5 and shorted my friend $1. So... I dunno. Wasn't there at night, no alcohol or music involved, just seemed like an OK place.
