I really love the mojitos here & what's even better is they have happy hour until 7 during the week. The food is great too.

Cuban and sweet plantains are solid. Nothing spectacular, but a solid and reasonably priced Cuban meal close to home.
Nothing to go out of your way for. Went here because this restaurant was on an episode of Kitchen Nightmares. Sadly I can't say they've improved much from having Gordon Ramsey's help. -

I ordered lunch today, and the moment it arrived i thought it had to be the wrong order, but no it was the right order it just doesnt look anything like REAL cuban cuisine, it barely even filled half the container so it was a very modest amount of food! and it lacked flavor! it was actually pretty awful! the salad had no oil just a ton of vinager , and what upset me most was i waiting 45 min for delivery and paid $17! only to stay hungry!
it was very disappointing and i will never be ordering from here again! -

We visited Mojito on Tuesday night (2/21/2012) as a little adventure to see how a restaurant which was failing and presented on Kitchen Nightmares with Gordon Ramsay had progressed 1+ years later. We're Brooklynites and the location is a hop-skip for us to get to. After reading the mixed reviews, we wanted to taste the food of Marcelo and Catalina for ourselves.
Joanna, the bartender makes some great drinks. Yay, I'm happy about that.
I ordered the basic salad with mango, greens, and a couple of grilled jumbo shrimp. Was tasty, but geeez - $4.50 per shrimp was pretty steep. Since the salad portion was enormous, my partner and I split it between us. That totaled approx $12 for salad and $18 for the shrimp. Won't do that ever again. I mean, it's a mixed green salad with 4 shrimp on top of it for 30 bux. Thanks to the garlic dipping cup from the fried tostones for adding some moisture back to the shrimp, as they were tasty but extremely dry.
My entree was pernil (roast pork shoulder) with white rice and beans. It was okay. I try to be fair, considering I'm a latin food cook myself. The beans seemed toned down from the Caribbean latin flavors I typically will make with them myself (Dominican style) but I thought this was done to appeal to more American masses. Who knows. So ... I added that garlic dip to both the beans and sliced pernil on my plate. That made me happy. Just wished I had some kind of cilantro and oregano flavors shine through.
The bathroom was clean and smelled nice. Yay! Nasty bathroom is a pet peeve of mine; especially in $30+ per plate restaurants. They get a pass. The ambiance was nice, staff friendly, and it being so close to home was relaxing.
I would have left it with 2 stars for the food I ordered, but the super helpful staff including Mandi our waitress gives Mojito another shot. The portions were huge so we took it home. I'm not sure if this is good or bad, considering that it might just go to my dogs instead of the Chef saving the money and buying more herbs with it and buy smaller plates.
Perhaps I will experiment with what they have to offer for lunch on a Saturday. My partner opted to not eat there again. -

I have been to Mojito on a few occasions. A couple times with just me and a friend, and one time as a work party. I was excited about this place, because they have great food and awesome mojitos. Thus I was thrilled when I found a Groupon for $22 for two appetizers and two entrees.
Unfortunately this was deceiving. The service we received was horrible. It took several minutes before we were waited on. We waited several more minutes before water and bread were brought to out to the table, and the waitress ignored or forgot about a few other request throughout the meal. Our menu options were limited due to the Groupon. Not to mention, our appetizers were mixed up with the table next to us, and the waitress had a nasty attitude when we asked to be given the correct order.
The food maintained the typical Mojito quality, but I was shocked when I received the bill. The Groupon estimated value for our food was $72. The actual menu price of the items was $40. For some reason with Groupon restaurant deals, the customer is responsible for tax. I don't have a problem with this, and I didn't mind paying tax and tip for $40 worth of food. However, we were being taxed for $72 worth of food.
When I asked for the manager she was rude to me, and insisted what the $72 was based on the average price on the menu. However, because of the limited menu due to the Groupon, the average price of the food was no where near $72. The highest the food could have been was $42. After much discussion and a near argument, I finally got her to remove the $15 gratuity that should have been $8 based on 20% which the waitress certainly did not deserve. I did have to pay the tax on $72 worth of food, but the waitress did not receive her 20%, and I probably tipped her more than I should have.
Unfortunately this could have been a regular spot for me, and I now have to add it to my list of banned places due to poor customer service.Listed in: BANNED!

I ordered the Tostones with Garlic and their Pork Chops Entree. The Tostones were full of grease, I could actually squeeze one and oil would be dripping from my hand. The pork chops were extremely tough, dry and tasted like they had been soaked in Vinegar. The Black Beans were salty. The food isnt excellent here or even good, I see Gordon Ramsay tried with this place but if you can't make a Pork Chop or Tostones and you are a Spanish/Latin restaurant then you need to hang it up. They also charge $4.50 per extra tiger shrimp if you wanted more in your salad. That is robbery.
The only thing good about this place is Joanna the bartender and Mandi our server. Mandi is very helpful and knows about the dishes on the menu and Joanna just makes a hell of a Mojito. I won't be visiting here again. -

Pasteles v. Empanadas:
A recent trip to Mojitos was a real disappointment. We ordered the guava and cheese 'pasteles' as they are now called, and were surprised when they arrived and they tasted nothing like they have from previous visits. Turns out they've changed their formula to be more like native Cuban empanadas but they actually resemble philo dough-filled pre-fab store-bought and frozen pastries. Gone are the golden crispy deliciousness of the empanadas of old replaced by these weird bastard offspring of turnovers and baklava. Please go back to making the EMPANADAS onsite and as crescent filled goodness as soon as possible. -

I took my friend here for her birthday, and I absolutely loved the place! The ambiance is nice, with the spanish music playing in the background and a person rollling cigars as soon as you walk in. The food was tasty. Had it not been for a so-so pernil, I would have given them a 5, but everyone else's order was good, especially the sandwiches. The drinks...ahhh-MAZING! I'm not usually a fan of mojitos, but being that I received a free one upon checking in on Facebook, I decided why not try it. Glad I did, because it was delish...even garnished with an actual sugar cane. I would def come back again

A very important part of a business is your customer service. This establishment did a Groupon deal. I purchased the Groupon went in with my printed out coupon ready to see what this spot was about. The waitress comes out I immediately advise her that I will be using a Groupon, she said OK and let me know what I could and could not eat. As I was sitting in the restaurant I noticed I was the only person in the dining area and one other at the bar. Big dining area and the place was empty (Business Not Going Well Perhaps) So the waitress comes back and ask what would we like to eat ...she out of the blue states you only get food no appetizers but as I showed her on the Groupon it says two appetizers, two entrees and two drinks. She looked puzzled went to the back.. now when she returns she says.. " I'm sorry but we will not be honoring your Groupon tonight, if you want to eat you will have to pay full price" I laughed so hard..... I asked to speak to the manager.. it was the same lady that was on the Kitchen Nightmares show..(Ms Attitude) she said this Groupon was their Easter Special... WTF.. I went to this restaurant in November..(Easter Special My Ass) She then advised me "we will not be doing this tonight", I said but why would it be up if you weren't and why did the waitress confirm everything was good and just like that she comes back and tells me ya'll are not honoring it? The manager just kept shrugging and saying I'm sorry but if you want to eat you'll have to pay full price." I damn sure will not go back to this spot just on customer service alone, I would have dined in at full price if their attitude was better and they weren't such horrible liars. She should have been up front and said.. look business is slow tonight and we cant afford to put out Groupons right now. The food smelled good and I'm sure it was good.. but I'm big on customer service........... show me you care, show me I'm the best and the only customer for you and you'll have me hooked! #epicfail

I had the pleasure of meeting the owner of this restaurant and a friend and I checked it out recently. It is beautifully decorated with high ceilings and a bar - there are also tables outside. Really loved the ambiance of the place.
The food presentation was great. I really enjoyed the bread and dipping sauce that they served prior to our food. We had the gambas (shrimp) for our appetizer and the salsa was amazing! The portion size was also great for our main entree - we split a dish and we were full.
This is a lovely spot - would be a great date spot or a nice place to bring your friends and get together for brunch. I heard that they have a women's networking event from the owner and I plan on attending that one of these days! -

Meh... is right. This place is really mediocre. I was absolutely starving... and you know when that happens and you eat you feel happiness exuding all around? Yeah, that wasn't the case here. The food simply suppressed my hunger. The food was missing some oomph or love or I don't know, but it was definitely missing something. I ordered the pork chops and they were just bland. But you know I'm a big girl, I could deal. So I moved on to the beans... The beans looked like they had been poured straight out of the Goya can, now that's just straight disrespect, no seasoning... NADA. I ordered white sangria and yeah you guessed it... MEH. But that's not where it ends... one of my fav. things about Latin Carribean/Cuban food is the mojo. The mojo here was gross and oily. Overall, the place wasn't horrible, but I don't think I care to go back.

Cuban with Mexican Flair.
Went here on a friends recommendation. The ambiance is awesome and is conducive for groups and or nice casual dates. Yes they tried to give it a Cuban flair but I guess the flight only made it to Miami. The had cute little Patron bottles on the tables with fresh daisies, but Rum and not Tequila is the specialty in Cuba (pronounced KuuBaa). Perhaps the Mexican cooks just wanted to be represented but then again Patron is American Tequila. (Side-eye) Okay I digress, nonetheless its a good space.
Browsing the menu I saw many Cuban favorites such as Pernil ( Roast Pork) Ropa Vieja (Shredded Beef Stew) and of course the Cuban Sandwich. I really had no clue what i wanted but I wanted to keep it light but of course the Carb Lords always get there way and i was presented with the complimentary toasted bread and garlic spread which was awesome. So we ordered elote roasted corn as a starter, (which is really a Mexican dish) Avocado with tomato relish, Pernil with rice and black beans, Ropa Vieja sandwich, and a pitcher of Pineapple Mojitos.
The elote was fantastic but I couldn't believe I paid $6 for an ear of corn. The avocado with the relish was fresh and light but $5 for half an avocado is robbery. By now my buttons were bursting and I still was waiting for my entree. Why was I feeling full? .... Because I swallowed down the pitcher of mojito worst then Lindsay Lohan did on house arrest. The Mojito was strong at first but quickly became lime juice $40. I took a bite of my entree and packed it to go. It was ok. I also tasted my partners rice and black beans and that was awesome. I don't eat pork so I stopped at the rice. The Pernil dish was about $20 and the portion is good but not enough to share or bring a doggie bag home.
Sooooo yea despite the food being good and the drinks being bi-polar, Mojitos has not made my short list of restaurant to revisit. The quality and amount of food served doesn't justify the final bill. So go ahead give it a try if you like just keep these two things in mind.... go with an open palette (Cuban/Mexican) and an open wallet.
Wait staff was attentive. Parking is a hit or miss here but private paid parking is available. Chase Bank one block away. -

Not sure what all the bad reviews are about, as that wasn't our experience at all. We had great, friendly service; the food was delicious (we ordered ropa vieja, arroz con pollo and yuca fries); and the drinks were excellent (mojito and white wine sangria). I'm also sort of obsessed with the garlic bread toast they give in the beginning. We had our baby in a stroller with us and they were very accommodating. We'll definitely be back!

Spilled into Mojito for a late dinner on a sunday night! First off the best thing about Mojito was the friendliness of the servers and bartenders. SO SO SO friendly and attentive, but not annoingly so! We were immediately offered pressed cuban toast with yummie spicy aioli sauce and a picher of water. Quickly our order was taken, and as we were indecisive about the pork or the short ribs, the waitress brought us a sample of each for us to try and decide. So sweet!! Who does that!!
So we ended up ordering a whole slew of really great authentic dishes...granted it is a lot of friend dishes, but this is quite typical of the cuban cuisine i am familair with! Never been to cuba but have had a lot of cuban food in Miami and remember it being like this. Mojito is not trying to be something it is not...just a great atmosphere, great service and nice authentic recipes!
Great Job. -

My husband and I went there today for a nice dinner. We've been here plenty of times and usually we get great service, but this time the normally great waitress was WAY off of her game. And is it me or did Mojito get a new chef? Almost every dish we ordered had no flavor, which is odd for this place. And then they had the nerve not to even have salt, pepper nor hot sauce on the table with which to season.
Honestly this time I have to say that the best thing we had tonight was the free bread and dipping sauce. My husbands black beans had absolutely NO flavor, the salmon came on a weird mashed plantain fried stiff and dry, and when I ordered a Cuban chicken sandwich, a weird chicken dish came before they corrected it with the originally ordered sandwich. Again, I found myself wishing for a big container of Old Bay or at least Red Hot. I had ordered Steak french fries with my sandwich which never came, and that was a shame because again, I could have used the spice.
I think the waitress, who usually serves so well, was embarrassed but didn't bother to apologize or come by to see how we were.
Overall I have to say this was one of the most disappointing dinner's I've had in a long time, and it will be a while before I can work up enough gumption to give this place another chance. -
Review from Aimee G.
I love Cuban food. LOVE IT, but this place was meh. The service was great but the food could have been better, more flavorful. I actually wished I had brought a bottle of adobo (that's how bland it tasted). I had for starters the bacalaitos which were spicy and the texture waaay different from the bacalaitos I make and have had in various islands through the years. For my entree I was torn between the Ropa Vieja or the Pernil, so my waitress brought out samples of both for me to make a choice. The pernil was the least flavorful of the two, so I went with the ropa vieja which was mediocre at best.
The mojitos and sangria were decent and my friend throughly enjoyed her meal, as we were out for her bday. -

Overpriced for ordinary tasting food!
I purchased a Groupon NOW DEAL for this restaraunt: $22 for 2 appetizers & 2 Entrees. I went to eat @ Mojito Cuban last night with my Boyfriend. First, there is a restriction as to what you can choose to eat due to Groupon which is no big deal. We chose: Bacalaitos & Empandas for our appetizers....which were bland. We had Ropa Vieja and Pernil for our entree..the Pernil was bland and a bit dry and the Ropa Vieja was just ok. I had a passion Mojito and my boyfriend had a Mango Mojito and we couldnt tell them apart and neither could the waitress :-/ Both drinks were weak. After eating a rather ordinary and somewhat bland meal with two weak drinks...we were given a bill for $42 (includes 20% mandatory tip) Sorry to sound so mean, but we would've been more pleased with a two for $20 meal from AppleBees :-/ At least they make their drinks worth it...Overall, the place is NOT horrible but not worth the $64 spent even with a Groupon discount....the food is ordinary and the service wasn't the best and rather slow! -

****REVIEW BASED ON TAKE-OUT ONLY****
I knew I was in trouble when I was banking on my Mexican co-worker to order lunch for us instead of me trying to make heads or tails out of what would be best. Sadly, Lady Luck wasn't in my favor, and I ordered Pan Con Ropa Vieja and the Pollo Varadero Emparedados for $10 each. I even asked them to throw in the flan for $6.
Although the delivery was speedy, the guy didn't speak any english, and I had to convince him I was in need of change and he wasn't getting a $20 tip. But, the frustration really began at the food. There was nothing Cuban about it; truly boring and just "meh" at best.
Co-worker: Yeah, um...next time I'll order.
I don't know if it's because I ordered the wrong things or what, but the flan stirred me to think that maybe this place can't cut it. Flan tasted like nothing at all.
If you're starving, any food tastes great, but at $10 a pop for a sandwich? C'mon now... -

NOTE: I originally posted this review in '08, but thought it was worth re-posting just in case you suckers are still eating here...
I'm pretty sure this is the place I ordered from while working a few weeks down the block at the Navy Yard. The guy who recommended it as having been like the greatest Cuban food in Brooklyn must have never even heard of Cuba.
Apparently, there must not be a lot of Cubans in Brooklyn! Maybe I'm biased I've been eating delicious Cuban food made by Cuban friends and their family (FROM Cuba and not Brooklyn! BTW).
Not only was the food at this place sub-par, but low and behold, when I got the end of my plate there was a thick wiry strand of hair. Everyone was all like eeeeeeeeeew...especially when I kept eating it. At that point, I figured I've been working all day and that was probably the last strand of a head FULL of hair I'd probably just eaten out of my food.
Luckily the human body doesn't digest it...you just crap it out. And speaking of CRAP...oh, we are and it's called Mojito!
Maybe I should actually GO there and try all these amazing drinks everyone's talking about b/c the food didn't do it for me (or any of the co-workers who'd also ordered...to the point where we never trusted the referrer's word on food again!). If I'm drunk enough, maybe I won't notice this time if there's a ball of HAIR IN MY FOOD!!! -

Never a disappointing meal! the owners and wait staff are so nice!!! every once and awhile you will see the occassional celebrity drop in for one of their flavorful meals!!!
Once you place your order they place some cuban bread with a garlic dip on the table. its hard to not have more then one piece! But beware the garlic breath will stick with you until the next day lol. I would have to say the best appetizer has to be the cuban quesdilla with beef! its made with sweet plantain yummy!!!!!!!!
my favorite entree is the pollo valladero and now the stuffed red snapper!!!!! -

Cool ambiance so much so that you feel like your not in Brooklyn, but on a Caribbean vacation spot.
The bread brought out came with a sauce that was out of this world and very similar to Pio Pio's just not as spicy.
I had the Pernil which was very good, slightly dry, but not a deal breaker. Just add some beans and it's all good. Everyone I came with enjoyed their dishes as well.
The drinks were excellent and my only gripe was the service was a little lackluster, but when they were around it was friendly. The couple I was with said it's usually amazing and might have been an off night.
It's probably best to go on an empty stomach because the portions are massive. Great spot in an up and coming area. -

Second time I visit this restaurant with some friends.
First time we went it was great this second time it was disappointing I ordered ropa vieja and my friend ordered the pork chops. The ropa vieja was too sweet this was my first time eating this dish but I assume its not meant to be so sweet. My friends pork chops were really dry. The waiter gave my friend a strawberry daquiri with no alcohol my friend didnt drink it sent it back and they were still charging us for it at the end of the night.Waiter had a serious attitude over all just disappointed.
One positive thing there passion fruit mojitos are delicious. -

Oh man where do I begin? After a horrible restaurant experience, so horrible in fact that we could not order my husband and I decided, let's go to mojitos, this place could not possibly disappoint, we had been there dozens of times and we figured that our toddler would love it because we always have, boy was I wrong. Much to our disappointment as soon as we had our appetizers we realized the menu was totally different, the Cuban quesadillas did not have the platano maduros anymore which gave them that amazing sweet savory flavor and the empanadas tasted like they were made by a catering company that tried to imitate Cuban food.
I figured I couldn't go wrong with my ropa vieja and my hubby had the pork chops. First of all my ropa vieja tasted like it was served out by a lunch lady, nothing like the flavorful juicy ropa vieja that I was used to having at mojitos. My husband and I ordered the rice and beans and instead of the waitress giving us two separate orders of beans she gave us one, when I told her we ordered two she said " when your done with that order I'll bring you more". I looked at her like she was nuts but didn't make a big deal out of it.
My husband had the pork chops. The pork chops seemed to be the cheapest cut of pork, I thought that to be odd considering the plate was 20 some odd dollars. They had no flavor and were very dry. My husband and I left bewildered, had a quiet ride home, then as soon as we sat on the couch we discussed how different and not great the food was and how we won't be going back, a few weeks later I'm flipping through the channels and I go to BBC america and I see Mojitos on kitchen nightmares!!!! I call my husband and tell him thats why the menu changed!! There must have been a lot of heavy editing in that episode cuz the food was awesome. And what the owners needed to do was, order less food and get marriage counseling and NOT CHANGE THE MENU!!!! How on earth do cubans come in and let a Brit completely change a Cuban menu?? Oh and Mojitos is absolutely not the only Cuban restaurant in brooklyn that's absurd. -

the first time i came here the food was great, the second time i came here (which happened to be two years later) the food was better. the last time i was here (which was the first week of december) the food was amazing. The mojitos are addictive. The waitress was OK. She didnt keep coming back to the table every 5 minutes which is what i liked. I was treating my boyfriend to dinner for his birthday and we wanted to keep it low key. It wasnt packed and it was very intimate. He loved the food! I orded a grilled chicken dish and he had the shrimp and cod fish dish. The chicken was a favorite for both of us. SO if your looking for something nice, cute, and low key, this is the place to go.
btw: your gonna love the bread and sauce that they provide each table with. the only problem is that they dont give refills on it :( -

Ok, I live in the building no I eat here pretty often and I've had everything on the menu several times. My favorites: mussels with that amazing coconut broth, the salted cod cakes, the Cuban quesadilla is my absolute favorite, the cod entree, empanadas and the blackberry mojito! Servers and bartenders are all really friendly and I like to watch the Yankee games there when it's not too crowded. Oh and the FLAN....love the flan! Their brunch is really really good too....
For all the people complaining that they don't refill the bread. I realize most people don't work in the restaurant business but I do so allow me to enlighten you....BREAD IS EXPENSIVE. Most places don't give you anything complimentary these days but a restaurant's bread bill is not cheap and they cannot afford to just keep refilling it. Doing that would also lower their guest check average because people would order less food. Just say thank you for the freebie and pay if you want more. It's the classy thing to do.Listed in: My Neighborhood

Nice atmosphere outdoor seating avail but indoors the tables are tightly grouped together. Came here because I purchased social networking voucher/deal. The best part about eating here was the butter bread that they serve for free. We got a second order of that butter bread, it was tasty! The food was not the best. I ordered the over priced whole salmon stuffed with rice and a mango chutney. The fish had an overwhelming fishy smell, and it was not well marinated. The worst part was that the fish still had fish scales all over it. I kept spitting it out. The rice stuffing was seasoned well with the chutney sauce but that was it. I loved the fried plantain piece that was placed inside of the fish. I had a pomegranate drink from the bar. It was great. If I do return here, I will only do so because of another deal, but I would order something different.

The food here is mediocre at best. I do like the loft. converted warehouse space, but that's all I like. I love Cuban food, and this place is as bland as can be. Not worth the price at all. So much so that whenever I pass by, I marvel that they've stayed in business so long. I'm always like, "who the hell is eating here still?"
If I want some food from the Spanish Caribbean and I'm at home in Brooklyn, I'll just have to go to one of the Dominican places, because Mojito is not represnting Cuban cusine well at all. -

We had a great experience here on a Saturday afternoon. Awesome wait staff, delicious Mojito lemonades, great butterbread basket w/dipping sauce; My soup came accompanied by rice, salsa & avocado - delicious. Husband's and son's brunch entrees were great, too. Spacious room, high ceilings, chill vibe, funky touches (like menus on cigar box lids). We'll definitely come again. Seems like a great place for a big group...

Yeah, it wasn't so good. Went here for a friend's birthday party, and really wasn't such a hotspot for a party.
Started out with yummy grilled bread for the table - which flew by, and then they didn't refill. I noticed that item was also on the menu for sale, so, presumably, if you ask for more bread, you get charged.
Then we had the gin and St. Germain mojotos (caraffe). Definitely yummy, but sooooo sickly sweet, was hard to drink.
Then ordered 4 appetizers for the table (of 6 people). They were so teeny tiny that most people got one bite of each, if anything at all. The ham croquettes came in an order of 3 tiny pieces, while the pastelitos was an order of two pieces (which was as advertised, but still, very small). So the apps left us all starving.
Then we asked for a less-sweet round of drinks, and went with the fig vodka option, which was promised to be less sweet. Not true. Super sugary. The birthday girl was a diabetic. We were not happy.
Dinner came. I had the ropa vieja, which was decent. Nothing special, just ok. My husband had the salad with chicken and the dressing was so sugary he couldn't eat it.
Mind you, we are people that LOVE SUGAR. But this restaurant seems to be dousing everything with the white stuff, like we were at a TGI Friday's in Dallas.
Couldn't finish dinner (too sweet) and then would have ordered dessert, had I not felt like I'd already eaten three desserts.
Most offensive was the 20% added on service fee that they tacked onto the bill, for parties of four or more.
Also, the neighborhood sucks. But that's not their fault. And the server was pleasant, quick, and kind, but not aware that the food wasn't good. So she wasn't that helpful. Again, not her fault.
And the prices aren't even that great to boot. The ambience is nice, dark, comfy, maybe good for a date for non-foodie types who live in the area. But other than that, avoid. -

I ordered the "Pargo Tropical" Its a red snapper made to perfection partly in the oven and partly fried. The center bone is taken out and the mango salsa was refreshing and great!
The service was personable yet not at all overbearing.
The music was played at just the right volume for my taste as I relish a good conversation over a great meal.
The best part of the experience for me was the natural relaxing ambiance in the place and a feeling of a genuine "hands on" care by the owners and the staff.
I will surly dine at Mojito Cuban Cuisine again and highly recommended to anyone.
By the way, The house salsa (served with the cuban bread) was divine!
I simply had to order some "To Go" -

This place is great for date night. The atmosphere is romantic, trendy and casual. The food was good. I recommend the crab cake appetizers. It's refreshing. The service was good too because the basically just came to take orders and bring the food. They don't do anything else annoying and basically leaves u to have a quite, intimate dinner. Definitely will go back

Dear Chef Ramsay,
You are desperately needed back a Mojito. Went there after watching the World Cup 3rd place game and was not happy with what I received. I got a cold beef sandwich for almost 10 bucks. Not horrible, but not very tasty. Im confident i could have done this at home. As I was eating i could literally see you cursing them out.
The place does do somethings well. They put out a nice warm bread with some kind of sauce that's usually great. The paella they used to have was great and would usually feed you for days after you left. Unfortunately they decided to get rid of the only food item they seemed to do right. The drinks here are great also. They make the one of the best mojitos in brooklyn. They use great ingredients and it's one of the few places that you'll have a mojito with real ingredients and most importantly a stalk of cane in the glass. Oh yea, and waitresses there are smokin!
Hey Chef, when ya come back take Mojito the restaurant to the back yard and put it down. Mojito the bar should be put back in it's place. I mean the bar is the main draw for this place in my opinion. Mr Ramsay your work is needed again. Best of luck! -

I went here last night with a friend and was disappointed.
The ambiance was nice, though the place looked liked it needed updating, and the restroom was pretty clean.
The wait staff were very friendly and accomodating, but the lackluster food was unfortunate. We ordered 3 margaritas and 5 apps and the total came to $67 bucks, less tax and tip. The margaritas were weak and had so much ice there was barely anything left after a couple of sips.
There was complimentary grilled bread that was served with a delicious dipping sauce and that was very good. The apps we ordered were: bacalaitos, mussels, cuban quesadillas, yucca and pastelitos.
The bacalaitos were ok *yawn*. The broth the mussels were prepared in was very sweet, we couldn't finish it. The cuban quesadilla was perhaps the best item we ate, although still not that great. The yucca tasted like it was deep fried in days old oil, and the garlic dipping sauce was a bit overpowering and I like garlic, but anywho *yawn*. We had the beef, and guava and cheese pastelitos which were ok.
I won't be back. I left so underwhelmed.

I must be a masochist. I just called this place to order LITERALLY $15.00 worth of food, but they wouldn't let me use my card.
FIRST OF ALL: It is NOT LEGAL to have a minimum for credit card/debit card. I can understand a $10.00 minimum, but $20? REALLY? There are no atms near where I work, so what am I going to do?
I spoke to the manager and she said that their machine was set only to $20 and she could do nothing about it. I find that hard to believe. All I wanted was some mediocre food and here they are, willing to throw my money away. I am appalled. I could not have enough bad things to say about this place. I hope they get a fucking clue or just close so that something halfway decent opens up where they are.2 Previous Reviews: Show all »

it is with great sadness that i write about the death of an old friend....
Mojito was a fat-bellied fun friend with a penchant for overfilling your plate with broad variety of tasty dishes and great sides and dressings...this friend knew how to drink and eat and even if you spent more than you wanted to when you went out with him - at least you were satisfied and even had something to remember him by the next day (read: tons of leftovers)
Today he passed into the world of the cheap and thin and became the mediocre friend on unemployment who is trying to sell his leftovers at full price to his friends and gives nothing extra...
Mojito must have hit hard times and instead of creating more business - they have cut quality/portion and variety but have kept the price as high as ever...i give them a year...Listed in: Signs of Depression

OK this place is just awful. It feels like a Cuban TGI Friday's. I have hit this place a few times and each time its worse than the first. The food is left under the heat lamps way too long and greasy. The wait staff is rude and doesn't have a clue about the menu. Everything seems overpriced for what it is. And I thought the one thing they would get right was a Cuban Sandwich, and they totally destroyed it...
My advice.... STAY AWAY at all costs...Listed in: My Neighborhood

Even if I am used to the cheap thrills of Taco Bell, $14 for a Quesadilla (which is literally a Mexican incarnation of a grilled cheese sandwich) is WAY too expensive for my tastes. From what I saw with my friends, the other foods came in comparably small portions considering the prices and even then it took about 20 minutes to get served. You'd think the service would be better with those kinds of prices.
Granted, I could be approaching this place at the wrong angle. I don't drink and I'm reviewing a place called "Mojito", from what I heard the drinks were pretty good. So maybe this place is following the ridiculously high price faire of bar food, so possibly on that merit alone it can get away with that...but then again, this place has next to no atmosphere or flavor at all in the inside, so to say that it can get away with "bar prices" may be a non-argument.
Likewise, you can find much cheaper and in my mind, similar quality Spanish cuisine on Myrtle Avenue which is a lot closer to Pratt. Some of my friends like to go here as an expensive dig after finals and survey, but honestly, if I'm going to spend this much money, I'd rather go for Max Brenner. At least they have horrifying menu items like chocolate pizza to go alongside the price tag.
