This place is awesome. Just off the ferry. Service is fast and friendly, the establishment is clean and inviting. And the food is delicious. Highly recommended after getting off the ferry before getting your bike!

Caveat - I did not try their micro-brews which seem to be immensely popula; this is a review of the service/food only.

    Pros:
    Clam Chowder was passable
    Cole Slaw wasn't mayo soup

    Cons:
    The rest of the food
    Soda was flat
    Service was mediocre
    Price

My fiance and I stopped here for lunch on a brisk, windy day. She ordered a fist-sized cup of chowder for $5. We each ordered diet pepsi ($2 each) which were both flat.

Her fried clam strips with cole slaw ($10) were over-breaded and very chewy. I ordered a veggie wrap ($9) which claimed on the menu to contain fresh vegetables with a vinaigrette dressing. Instead, I got the equivalent of a side salad (lettuce, tomato, red onion, with a handful of garden peas and a couple slices of mushroom), no dressing, wrapped up in a spinach tortilla, accompanied by about a half pound of greasy, skinny french fries.

The meal could have been salvaged if the waitress had stopped by once to ask how our meal was or had appeared long enough for me to flag her down. By the time I got her attention, we just wanted the check and to get out.

Lesson learned - skip the food and stick with beer at this popular location (or maybe throw in some pub fare like nachos)

Came here 2 times on my half week visit to the Island. It's the only micro-brew on the island offering about 5 beers.

The first night I came with friends. We had an giant order of nachos and I enjoyed a dark and stormy which was made with their homemade ginger beer.

The second visit was for lunch. I had a cup of decent clam chowder and a garden salad with an amazing red thai curry vinaigrette. I was blown away by the dressing. :D The waitress was even nice enough to give me the recipe.

I've been here several times. . .both in season and off season.  During the winter I had a steak dinner which was fairly good. I recall thinking the steak was overseasoned but i left full and satisfied.  I have since had more 'bar fare' than formal dinners.
I can comment on the burger (burlington burger) it was good.  It came with fries and i'd rate it a 6/10.  I'd get it again.  I ordered a salad with it but i felt the salad was too 'cold'.  YOu know that icy sort of lettuce feeling when you bite into it?  It was like that.  The house dressing was a vinegar type and was okay.  I wish i had ordered a different dressing.

The coconut shrimp came as 4 and were good.  I'd rate and 8/10 and the dipping sauce was good.

The chicken wings buffalo were nothing exciting but I've decided that in the realm of buffalo chix wings i'm never really happy.  They were just too wet.  I prefer more crisp, less of a buffalo bath.  When your mouth is on fire it's hard to know if they're good.

The beer selection is home brew and good.  The bar service is attentive.  THe gin and tonics are a good pour.

I'd eat here again and probably try more things on the menu.

One of my favorite places to eat on the island!!! The salad with fresh tuna is my favorite, crisp, light & refreshing!! Good variety on the menu. Great cocktails & beer selection!
Close to the ferry, pretty view and right on the main stretch!

I don't understand why people are rating the food so highly. It's OK, but there's NOTHING exceptional about it.  The mesclun of my wife's grilled tuna salad was good, the artichokes and asparagus a nice touch, but the tuna was overcooked (medium well, when she ordered medium rare), and it was a substandard piece of tuna, tough, dry and mealy. My blackened mahimahi was OK, but nothing to rave about.  My kids' chicken fingers were surprisingly moist and tender.

There was nothing wrong with our meals (except the tuna), but this is not 4 or 5 star food.  The setting is nice, as are the people.

We went to Block Island for a long weekend and ended up at Mohegan Cafe for a quick bite on a Friday night.  The place had a good crowd going but we were seated immediately (at a 4-top no less, and there were only 2 of us!).

We each started with one of their house brews and enjoyed them.  I had the apricot wheat beer and found it to be so delicious I had another.  Don't mind if I do!  For dinner we both had the vegetarian chili and a salad, house for me and spinach calamari for him, and found it to be just what we needed to wind down and warm up on a cool October night.

This was just going to be an easy night since we were tired from a day of traveling, but ended up being one of our favorite places we visited.  Staff was super nice and the atmosphere was warm and buzzing and, as my BF said, "very Conneciticut" (take that to mean what you will, but we liked it).

We had lunch here on a Sunday. We arrived right when it opened at 11:30 and were seated at a window facing Water Street. I ordered the Low-Carb Chicken and my wife got the South Beach Burger. The food was terrific - good sized portions, flavorful and reasonably-priced. As the only brew pub on Block Island, I had to try one of their ales; the High Octane was excellent!

Service was excellent - attentive without being obtrusive.

We'll be going back to Mohegan on our next visit to Block Island.

I went to dinner there last weekend and both evenings the meals were amazing. Large servings and delicious ingredients.  Also recommend trying their brewed beers - also very good - ask about their High Octane ones and you get a interesting background on them.
I would highly recommend this place.

I stayed at the Water Street Inn (located right above the Mohegan Cafe) while visiting Block Island, so I was very excited to have a bar right underneath of me. The location is great and the staff is very friendly. The food was mediocre. The wings need more sauce and spice and the calamari was a little bit too chewy. The beer (which is brewed on site) was delicious and reasonably priced. Its a great place to drink, but in my opinion, there is better places to eat on the island. If you go, you gotta try the High Octane beer. Soooo good.

We LOVE the Mohegan.  It's always one of our favorite places to visit when we're on Block.  Dave (the manager/brewmaster) makes some excellent beers.  I am partial to the B.I.P.A. but have enjoyed most every other beer I have tried.

Besides the beers, the other thing we really love about this place is the comparative value of the menu.  Every year it seems it gets more expensive to dine on Block and the portions get smaller - but not at the Mohegan!

On our most recent visit I enjoyed the calamari & spinach salad (only $13!!) which provided me with an ample amount of spinach salad with bacon dressing and was topped with a full appetizer sized portion of perfectly fried & tender calamari.  My husband enjoyed a special for the day - scallops over seafood ravioli in a rich pesto cream sauce.  He shared with every adult at the table (4 of us) and also provided the majority of the meal to our hearty-eating three year old and STILL said he had too much food left for himself.  (his family nicknamed him the seagull because he never stops eating)  Our friends said they had the best buffalo wings they'd ever eaten and the most delicious Dark & Stormy on the island.

The Mohegan may not have outside seating like many of the other places, but the food and value totally make up for it... worse case scenario, make this your go to place when the weather isn't so perfect.

My wife & I spent the better part of a week vacationing at Block Island and hit Mohegan for lunch one day.  Great little brewpub, they brew excellent beers and have a nice casual menu.  The jerk chicken sandwich I had was awesome, not too spicy or too mild with a wonderful mango chutney (not too sweet).

No outside seating as others have noted, but it's right on the main street in Old Harbor with lots of windows so plenty of opportunities for people watching and great views.

You might ask why one would come to a microbrewery and drink a Bloody Mary instead?  Mainly, it's because it came so highly recommended by the locals.

And, oh my, is its acclaim well deserved.  I, who has never really liked the Bloody Mary, am now convinced of its awesomeness.  All it really took to make me a fan was a well prepared Bloody.  The bloody arrived served over ice, yet never became too diluted as I sipped it along with my meal.  Plus, as a fan of spicy foods, I appreciated the kick I got from the addition of Tabasco and fresh pepper.  The cocktail came generously garnished with olives, pickles, lemon wedges, and celery stalks.

The Bloody was the perfect accompaniment to my balsamic-glazed grilled portobello mushrooms, zucchini and freshly fire-roasted red peppers over creamy, smooth, and decadent polenta.

My friends also enjoyed some of Mohegan's micro brews (4-5 daily specials prepared on-premises) and eclectic pub fare while relaxing in an air-conditioned dining room after a long bike ride across the Island.

For those who have some time to spare before picking up a ferry at the Old Harbour, this should be a destination.  The food is lovely and the atmosphere relaxed and friendly.

My favorite place on Block Island. The food is as good as most places on Block Island but the prices are very reasonable and the atmosphere is comfortable. Especially recommend the nachos and the beers brewed on site. It's in a good location right in the middle of town, too.

This is the best restaurant on Block Island!!! Trust me do NOT go to the high end restaurant Manisses everyone recommends - it is NOT that good... If you are like me, loving to go to high end restaurants then so not the Manisses. Mohegan Cafe is good with the most amazing GINGER ALE NON ACOHOLIC and Jerk Chicken Sandwich - Amazing Ginger Ale. I would go there every single day just 2 have that. Also another amazing place - Aldo's Ice cream Shop - Get the Gelato in the stainless steel bins - they are homemade and the Nutella ice-cream is soooo amazing. YOU HAVE 2 GET THE GINGER BEER @ The Mohegan Cafe... Manisses is soooo horrible :) But overall the food is good at The Mohegan Cafe, great staff, and amazing GINGER BEER which they homemake... It is so strong and good, if you like ginger than THIS IS FOR YOU!!!

I did a day trip to BI this past weekend and it was my first time there.  Since it was mid-May, it was still considered off-season and not many restaurants were open.  I found the Mohegan Cafe while walking by and liked the menu, so gave it a try for lunch (they were one of a few open). The employees all happily greeted me at the door and were very friendly.  I tried one of their own brews, I think it was the I.P.A. and it was damn good!  For lunch I ordered one of their daily specials: Blackened Mahi sandwich.  I honestly wasn't expecting anything that great being its a tourist destination and boy was I pleasantly surprised!  The fish was perfectly cooked and seasoned and the sandwich toppings were all fresh.  I opted for coleslaw instead of fries and they give you a ton of it! Service wise, my server was very prompt and I had my food in what seemed to be less then 5 minutes! For the quality, quantity, and service, i was shocked to see my bill was only $14! $9 for my sandwich and $4.50 for my beer.

I'd highly recommend this place and will be returning next time i'm on the island!

A couple of years ago we came to BI the day after Columbus Day, and we ate at Mohegan Cafe because it was one of only two or three restaurants that remained open. We had a great meal though, so returned here on our trip last week. My cod was perfectly cooked, so moist and well seasoned. My husband asked them to do blackened salmon Caesar salad - not on the menu, but they accommodated his request.

Right on Water St and great views. Pretty good victuals and a very sweet spot to get a good buzz. Fills up with tourists during the summer but in the off season is taken over by the eccentric and heavy drinking locals, which is not necessarily a bad thing.

Best meal I've had on Block Island.  Good portion sizes and definitely delicious.  BBQ beef sandwiches are made with prime rib, what's not to like?  Spinach calamari salad- super yummy!  Good beers, though I wish they had a better n.a. selection- why must O'Doul's be the default?
